A bibliometric analysis of researches on flap endonuclease 1 from 2005 to 2019

Ginsenosides and Tumors: A Comprehensive and Visualized Analysis of Research Hotspots and Antitumor Mechanisms

Background: Ginsenoside, the main active constituent of traditional Chinese medicine Ginseng, has been shown to play an important role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. However, the literature as well as the antitumor mechanisms of ginsenosides has not yet been systematically studied. Methods: We screened all relevant literature on ginsenosides and tumors from Web of Science during 2001-2021 and analyzed the extracted terms of these publications by VOSviewer and CiteSpace. DAVID online tool was used to perform Gene Ontology enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways analysis of ginsenoside-related genes. Cytoscape and String software were used to construct the interaction networks of ginsenoside-related genes and corresponding proteins. Results: A total of 919 publications were included in the study. A total of 122 identified keywords were mainly divided into 3 clusters: "pharmacological function research", "functional validation in animal models" and "anti-tumor efficacy and mechanism". The keywords of "oxidative stress" had the strongest citation burst in the past 5 years. A total of 50 genes were identified as ginsenoside-related genes in tumors. They have the function of regulating gene expression and apoptosis, and they are closely related to signaling pathways in cancers. Ginsenoside-related genes form a complex interactional network, in which TP53 and IL-6 are centrally located. Conclusions: We explored and revealed research hotspots related to the ginsenosides and tumors. More precise anti-tumor mechanism research will be promising in the future. TP53 and IL-6 may be the key points to comprehending the anti-tumor mechanism of ginsenosides.

Visualization of breast cancer-related protein synthesis from the perspective of bibliometric analysis

Breast cancer, as a daunting global health threat, has driven an exponential growth in related research activity in recent decades. An area of research of paramount importance is protein synthesis, and the analysis of specific proteins inextricably linked to breast cancer. In this article, we undertake a bibliometric analysis of the literature on breast cancer and protein synthesis, aiming to provide crucial insights into this esoteric realm of investigation. Our approach was to scour the Web of Science database, between 2003 and 2022, for articles containing the keywords "breast cancer" and "protein synthesis" in their title, abstract, or keywords. We deployed bibliometric analysis software, exploring a range of measures such as publication output, citation counts, co-citation analysis, and keyword analysis. Our search yielded 2998 articles that met our inclusion criteria. The number of publications in this area has steadily increased, with a significant rise observed after 2003. Most of the articles were published in oncology or biology-related journals, with the most publications in Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cancer Research, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, and Oncogene. Keyword analysis revealed that "breast cancer," "expression," "cancer," "protein," and "translation" were the most commonly researched topics. In conclusion, our bibliometric analysis of breast cancer and related protein synthesis literature underscores the burgeoning interest in this research. The focus of the research is primarily on the relationship between protein expression in breast cancer and the development and treatment of tumors. These studies have been instrumental in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Sustained research in this area will yield essential insights into the biology of breast cancer and the genesis of cutting-edge therapies.

Down-regulation of DNA key protein-FEN1 inhibits OSCC growth by affecting immunosuppressive phenotypes via IFN-γ/JAK/STAT-1

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) escape from the immune system is mediated through several immunosuppressive phenotypes that are critical to the initiation and progression of tumors. As a hallmark of cancer, DNA damage repair is closely related to changes in the immunophenotypes of tumor cells. Although flap endonuclease-1 (FEN1), a pivotal DNA-related enzyme is involved in DNA base excision repair to maintain the stability of the cell genome, the correlation between FEN1 and tumor immunity has been unexplored. In the current study, by analyzing the clinicopathological characteristics of FEN1, we demonstrated that FEN1 overexpressed and that an inhibitory immune microenvironment was established in OSCC. In addition, we found that downregulating FEN1 inhibited the growth of OSCC tumors. In vitro studies provided evidence that FEN1 knockdown inhibited the biological behaviors of OSCC and caused DNA damage. Performing multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC), we directly observed that the acquisition of critical immunosuppressive phenotypes was correlated with the expression of FEN1. More importantly, FEN1 directly or indirectly regulated two typical immunosuppressive phenotype-related proteins human leukocyte antigen (HLA-DR) and programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1), through the interferon-gamma (IFN-γ)/janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducer and activator transcription 1 (STAT1) pathway. Our study highlights a new perspective on FEN1 action for the first time, providing theoretical evidence that it may be a potential immunotherapy target for OSCC.

Immune cells regulate matrix metalloproteinases to reshape the tumor microenvironment to affect the invasion, migration, and metastasis of pancreatic cancer

This study aimed to identify author, country, institutional, and journal collaborations and assess their impact, along with knowledge base, as well as identify existing trends, and uncover emerging topics related to matrix metalloproteinase and pancreatic-cancer research. A total of 1474 Articles and reviews were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed by Citespace and Vosviewer. CANCER RESEARCH, CLINICAL CANCER RESEARCH, and FRONTIERS IN IMMUNOLOGY are the most influential journals. The three main aspects of research in matrix metalloproteinases-pancreatic cancer-related fields included the pathogenesis mechanism of pancreatic cancer, how matrix metalloproteinases affect the metastasis of pancreatic cancer, and what role matrix metalloproteinases play in pancreatic cancer treatment. Tumor microenvironment, pancreatic stellate cells, drug resistance, and immune cells have recently emerged as research hot spots. In the future, exploring how immune cells affect matrix metalloproteinases and reshape the tumor microenvironment may be the key to curing pancreatic cancer. This study thus offers a comprehensive overview of the matrix metalloproteinases-pancreatic cancer-related field using bibliometrics and visual methods, providing a valuable reference for researchers interested in matrix metalloproteinases-pancreatic cancer.

Bibliometric analysis of hotspots and frontiers in cancer-related fatigue among ovarian cancer survivors

Objectives

To explore and analyze research hotspots and frontiers in CRF in ovarian cancer patients to provide an evidence-based basis for scholars and policymakers.

Background

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common and lethal gynecological malignancies. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is an annoying and pervasive side-effect that seriously affects the activities of daily living and decreases the quality of life (QoL) of cancer survivors.

Methods

The literature was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) from inception to 2021-12-31. CiteSpace was used to discuss research countries, institutions, authors, and keywords.

Results

This study ultimately included 755 valid publications, and the number of publications showed a gradual upward trend. The countries, institutions, authors, and journals that have published the most articles and cited the most frequently were the United States, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Michael Friedlander and Amit M Oza, Gynecologic Oncology, and Journal of Clinical Oncology. The top three high-frequency keywords were Ovarian cancer, chemotherapy, and clinical trial. The top three keywords with the strongest citation bursts were cyclophosphamide, double-blind, and open-label.

Conclusions

Conducting multi-center, large-sample, randomized controlled clinical trials to determine whether chemotherapeutic agents have severe adverse effects and to discuss the relationship between CRF and QoL and overall survival in cancer survivors are hotspots in this field. The new trends may be applying double-blind, randomized controlled trials to clarify the causes of CRF and open-label, randomized trials to determine the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of chemotherapeutic agents.

A bibliometric and emerging trend analysis on stress granules from 2011 to 2020: A systematic review and bibliometrics analysis

BACKGROUND

Stress granules (SGs) are the dense granules formed in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells in response to stress stimuli, such as endoplasmic reticulum stress, heat shock, hypoxia, and arsenate exposure. Although SGs have been attracting a lot of research attention, there is still a lack of systematic analysis of SGs in the literature.

METHODS

By analyzing the literature published in the Web of Science database using the R software, we extracted all the information related to SGs from the literature and cited references. The following information was included: publications per year, overall citations, top 10 countries, top 10 authors, co-author collaborations, top 10 institutions, critical areas, and top 10 cited research articles.

RESULTS

A total of 4052 articles related to SGs were selected and screened. These documents have been cited a total of 110,553 times, with an H-index of 126 and an average of 27.28 citations per article. The authors of the literature included in this study were from 89 different countries/regions. The United States and China had the highest number of publications and ranking institutions.

CONCLUSIONS

This article presents essential insights on the characteristics and influence of SGs, demonstrating their indispensable role in immune regulation and other fields.

Worldwide Research Trends on Artemisinin: A Bibliometric Analysis From 2000 to 2021

Objective

Artemisinin is an organic compound that comes from Artemisia annua. Artemisinin treatment is the most important and effective method for treating malaria. Bibliometric analysis was carried out to identify the global research trends, hot spots, scientific frontiers, and output characteristics of artemisinin from 2000 to 2021.

Methods

Publications and their recorded information from 2000 to 2021 were retrieved through the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Using VOSviewer and Citespace, the hotspots and trends of studies on artemisinin were visualized.

Results

A total of 8,466 publications were retrieved, and for the past 22 years, the annual number of publications associated with artemisinin kept increasing. The United States published most papers. The H-index and number of citations of the United States ranked first. The University of Oxford and MALARIA JOURNAL were the most productive affiliation and journal, respectively. A paper written by E.A. Ashley in 2011 achieved the highest global citation score. Keywords, such as “malaria,” “artesunate,” “plasmodium-falciparum,” “in-vitro,” “artemisinin resistance,” “plasmodium falciparum,” “resistance,” and “artemether-lumefantrine,” appeared most frequently. The research on artemisinin includes clinical research and animal and cell experiments.

Conclusion

The biosynthesis, drug resistance mechanism, and combination of artemisinin have become more popular than before. Studies on artemisinin treating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been carried out, and good research results have been obtained.

Hotspots and trends in liver kinase B1 research: A bibliometric analysis

Introduction

In the past 22 years, a large number of publications have reported that liver kinase B1 (LKB1) can regulate a variety of cellular processes and play an important role in many diseases. However, there is no systematic bibliometric analysis on the publications of LKB1 to reveal the research hotspots and future direction.

Methods

Publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), Scopus, and PubMed databases. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analysis the top countries, institutions, authors, source journals, discipline categories, references, and keywords.

Results

In the past 22 years, the number of LKB1 publications has increased gradually by year. The country, institution, author, journals that have published the most articles and cited the most frequently were the United States, Harvard University, Prof. Benoit Viollet, Journal of Biochemistry and Plos One. The focused research hotspot was the molecular functions of LKB1. The emerging hotspots and future trends are the clinical studies about LKB1 and co-mutated genes as biomarkers in tumors, especially in lung adenocarcinoma.

Conclusions

Our research could provide knowledge base, frontiers, emerging hotspots and future trends associated with LKB1 for researchers in this field, and contribute to finding potential cooperation possibilities.
