Abstract
Aim This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess individually the regenerative potential of PRF (Platelet-rich Fibrin), PRP (Platelet-rich Plasma), and PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) in comparison to OFD (Open Flap Debridement) alone for treating Intrabony defects, by calculating pooled effect sizes. Background Relevant randomized controlled trials on humans were searched in PUBMED, COCHRANE CENTRAL, and GOOGLE SCHOLAR. Mean differences (MD) of Clinical Attachment level (CAL), Probing Pocket depth (PPD), and Defect Depth Reduction (DDR) between the Experimental and Control groups were used for calculating pooled effect sizes. Risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane's tool, and publication bias was evaluated through Funnel plots, Trim & Fill Method, and Rosenthal's Fail-Safe N Test. Review result A total of 23 studies were identified for qualitative and quantitative analysis. These studies were categorized into PRF, PRP, and PRGF groups based on the type of APC used. PRF showed the highest CAL gain (1.60 mm, 95% CI = 0.963-2.232 mm, P < 0.001, I2 = 93.83%) and PPD reduction (1.76 mm, 95% CI = 1.056 to 2.446, P < 0.001, I2 = 96.05%). However, PRP exhibited the greatest DDR (3.42 mm, 95% CI = -13.67 to -20.50, P = 0.011, I2 = 87.27%). PRF and PRP demonstrated large effect sizes, while PRGF showed a small effect size. Conclusion The use of PRF, PRP, and PRGF showed advantages in treating intrabony defects. However, caution is advised when interpreting the results due to heterogeneity and publication bias among the studies.

Abstract
When treating intrabony defects to regenerate periodontal structure, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) alone or in conjunction with various grafting materials, enamel matrix proteins, and barrier membranes have shown promising results. This evidence-based review aimed to systematically appraise the efficacy of xenograft in combination with PRP in the surgical treatment of periodontal intrabony defects in comparison to xenograft alone in terms of clinical and radiographic outcomes in adults with periodontitis. Electronic and manual data were searched exhaustively by 2 reviewers, including PubMed-Medline, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase and Scopus from the earliest available date till January 31, 2023 without restriction on language. Randomized controlled clinical trials of either parallel or a split-mouth design and studies where xenograft and PRP were in the intervention group or as a comparator was included. After screening the articles, 3 studies were included. The current systematic review reveals that PRP used as an adjunct with a xenograft resulted in a significant reduction in pocket depth and greater clinical attachment level gain in comparison to xenograft alone. The analysis of the present review concludes that PRP in conjunction with xenograft for the treatment of intrabony defects shows promising outcomes. However, owing to the short follow-up time and heterogeneity of included studies, caution should be followed while using this material clinically.

Abstract
Background Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) has not been extensively studied as other platelet concentrates such as Choukron's platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate PRFM regenerative ability in human periodontal intrabony defects. Materials and Methods Fifteen patients (age: 30-55 years) having probing pocket depth (PPD) ≥6 mm, and radiographic evidence of bilateral vertical intrabony defects were recruited. A split-mouth design was used in each patient; one quadrant of the arch was treated with open flap debridement (OFD) alone (control group) and the other quadrant with OFD + PRFM (test group). The PRFM was prepared by dual-spin technology using a patented thixotropic separator gel. Outcome measures comprising plaque index, gingival index (GI), PPD, clinical attachment level (CAL), depth of the defect, defect fill (DF), and percentage of DF (PDF) were recorded at baseline, after 3 months and 6 months. The parameters were applicably analyzed using the Friedman test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, paired t-test, repeated measures ANOVA, and Post Hoc-Bonferroni correction. Results The GI, a net reduction in CAL, and PPD of the test group were significantly better than the control group at 3 months and 6 months (P < 0.05), while DF and PDF showed significant results at 6 months (P < 0.05). A consistent early wound healing index of 1 at 1 week was displayed in the test group (66.7%) in comparison to the control group (33.7%). Conclusion PRFM can be a clinically significant periodontal regenerative material in the treatment of vertical intraosseous defects.

Abstract
In this chapter, the results from a relatively recently performed systematic appraisal of the literature on the long-term outcome of regenerative periodontal treatment in intrabony defects are presented. Periodontal regenerative procedures in intrabony defects yield significantly better clinical outcomes compared with conventional surgery and result in high rates of tooth retention on a medium- to long-term basis. Combination approaches seem, in general, more efficacious compared with monotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Systematic reviews have established the short-term improvements of periodontal regenerative/reconstructive procedures compared to conventional surgical treatment in intrabony defects. However, a hierarchy of periodontal regenerative/reconstructive procedures regarding the medium- to long-term results of treatment does not exist. AIM To systematically assess the literature to answer the focused question "In periodontitis patients with intrabony defects, what are the medium- and long-term benefits of periodontal regenerative/reconstructive procedures compared with open flap debridement (OFD), in terms of clinical and/or radiographic outcome parameters and tooth retention?". MATERIAL & METHODS Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs), reporting on clinical and/or radiographic outcome parameters of periodontal regenerative/reconstructive procedures ≥3 years post-operatively, were systematically assessed. Clinical [residual probing pocket depth (PD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) gain, tooth loss] and radiographic [residual defect depth (RDD), bone gain (RBL)] outcome parameters were assessed. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and Bayesian random-effects network meta-analyses (NMA) were performed where possible. RESULTS Thirty RCTs, presenting data 3 to 20 years after treatment with grafting, GTR, EMD, as monotherapies, combinations thereof, and/or adjunctive use of blood-derived growth factor constructs or with OFD only, were included. NMA based on 21 RCTs showed that OFD was clearly the least efficacious treatment; regenerative/reconstructive treatments resulted in significantly shallower residual PD in 4 out 8 comparisons [range of mean differences (MD): -2.37 to -0.60 mm] and larger CAL gain in 6 out 8 comparisons (range of MD: 1.26 to 2.66 mm), and combination approaches appeared as the most efficacious. Tooth loss after regenerative/reconstructive treatment was less frequent (0.4%) compared to OFD (2.8%), but the evidence was sparse. There were only sparse radiographic data not allowing any relevant comparisons. CONCLUSION Periodontal regenerative/reconstructive therapy in intrabony defects results, in general, in shallower residual PD and larger CAL gain compared with OFD, translating in high rates of tooth survival, on a medium (3-5 years) to long-term basis (5-20 years). Combination approaches appear, in general, more efficacious compared to monotherapy in terms of shallower residual PD and larger CAL gain. A clear hierarchy could, however, not be established due to limited evidence.

Abstract
The application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in oral and maxillofacial surgery has been thoroughly studied in the last two decades. Currently, different types of PRP are applied in the clinical practice, being the presence or absence of leukocytes one of the classification criteria. However, there is poor evidence assessing the influence of the PRP composition in their efficacy. In this context, the aim of this narrative review is to compile the existing evidence covering the efficacy of PRP in oral and maxillofacial surgery, starting from a systematic literature search and to qualitatively describe the efficacy outcomes from the composition perspective. According to the results of this review, the application of PRP in oral and maxillofacial surgery is a potential strategy to improve soft- and hard-tissue regeneration, observing differences in the efficacy of PRP depending on its composition and the studied application. P-PRP (the absence of leukocytes) has been more consistent in achieving beneficial effects in alveolar ridge preservation, management of post-extraction complications, bone augmentation and temporomandibular joint disorders. For that, the composition and methodology used to prepare the PRP should be a critical point when evaluating the efficacy of PRP.

Abstract
The present study aimed to perform a systematic critical appraisal of the methodological quality of systematic reviews (SRs) on the effect of autologous platelet concentrates (APCs) in the treatment of periodontal intraosseous defects and to provide a synthesis of the main clinical findings available. An electronic and hand search was performed up to February 2020; 14 systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials (RCTs), of which 11 were meta-analyses, were included. Only one SR fully satisfied all 11 items of the AMSTAR (“A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews”) checklist for methodological quality evaluation, 3 SRs were classified of high quality, 8 of medium quality, and 2 of low quality. There is some evidence on the beneficial additive effect of APCs in the surgical treatment of intraosseous defects when used alone or in combination with bone grafts. APCs did not show any advantage when used together with guided tissue regeneration (GTR) or enamel matrix derivative (EMD). Undertaking SRs which adhere to rigorous standards and protocols is strongly recommended. There are increasing data on the positive adjunctive effect of APCs in the surgical treatment of intraosseous defects but, due to the heterogeneity of the available primary studies, the quality of evidence remains rather low and further long-term well-designed RCTs are encouraged.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a blood component therapy with a supraphysiological concentration of platelets derived from allogenic or, more commonly, autologous blood. PRP has been used in different non-transfusion indications because of its role in the promotion of tissue repair and healing, in fields such as Traumatology, Dermatology and Dentistry. OBJECTIVE To provide a synthesis of the efficacy of PRP for different clinical situations. METHODS Systematic searches were carried out in MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library and LILACS in July 2018 to identify systematic reviews (SRs) of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) focusing on PRP for non-transfusion use. Two authors independently screened all retrieved references in two stages (titles and abstracts at a first stage and full texts at a second stage). The methodological quality of SRs that met the eligibility criteria was appraised by AMSTAR 2. Conclusions were based on the most recent SRs with highest quality. RESULTS One thousand two hundred and forty references were retrieved. After checking the inclusion criteria, 29 SRs of RCTs related to three different fields (wound care, Orthopedics and Dentistry) were included. The results suggest the benefit of PRP for different clinical situations, such as diabetic wounds, acute lesions of musculoskeletal system, rotator cuff lesions, tendinopathies, knee and hip osteoarthritis, total knee arthroplasty, allogenic bone graft for dental implants and periodontal intrabony defects. CONCLUSION There is low to moderate quality evidence supporting the efficacy of PRP for specific clinical situations. The low quality of the evidence limits the certainty of these findings. Well-planned and well-conducted RCTs are still needed to further assess the efficacy of PRP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nanofat and fat graft survival is an important clinical problem. The authors of this study investigated whether PRP has an impact on fat and nanofat graft survival and vascularization in a mouse model. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fat was harvested from a 50-year-old healthy woman by vacuum suction, and nanofat was obtained by emulsification and centrifugation procedures. PRP was collected after two rounds of centrifugation from an autologous blood sample. Twenty male nude mice were divided into four treatment groups: PRP/nanofat, PRP/fat, saline/nanofat and saline/fat. After 1 month and 3 months, the grafts were extracted and weighed. The microstructure of the fat and nanofat was examined with a scanning electron microscope. HE and immunohistochemical staining was applied to observe neovascularization. Western blot analysis was used to analyse the expression of CD31 and VEGF. RESULTS In fat tissue, fat cells had normal connections; the fat structure was complete and fibre networks were visible. In nanofat, the extracellular matrix vascular components were visible and their structures were intact. At 1 month and 3 months, the graft weights in the PRP/fat group were significantly higher than those in the other groups. Further, a higher degree of neovascularization was observed in the PRP/nanofat group, and the expression of CD31 and VEGF in the PRP/nanofat group was higher than that in the other groups. Background There are no authoritative meta-analyses and no clear quantitative assessments available estimating effects of open flap debridement (OFD) combined with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) over and above that of OFD. This study evaluated the actual quantitative mean gain for various clinical (clinical attachment level [CAL], probing pocket depth [PPD] and gingival marginal level [GML]) and radiographic (intrabony defect depth [IBD]) parameters of Platelet Concentrates- PCs (PRP/PRF) as sole grafting material along with OFD and OFD alone in the treatment of intrabony defects. Materials and Methods A detailed electronic search was carried out in PUBMED/MEDLINE, COCHRANE, EBSCOHOST, and Google Scholar databases by unifying related search terms with additional hand searches in select specialty journals up to May 2017. The eligibility criteria included human randomized clinical trials, either of a parallel group or a split-mouth design with follow-up period of at least 6 months. Periodontal intrabony defects with radiographic IBD ≥3 mm with corresponding CAL ≥5 mm were included. For the meta-analysis, the inverse variance method was used in fixed- or random-effect models. Results Actual quantitative mean gains were calculated for OFD with PRF/PRP (CAL = 1.1 mm, IBD = 1.68 mm, PPD = 0.97 mm and GML = 0.48 mm) over and above that of OFD alone. Conclusion Because of very high heterogeneity, the results may not be dependable. Apart from gains in radiographic bone fill, all other periodontal clinical parameters showed negligible gains. Using PRF technologies in periodontal intrabony defects may not be of great clinical significance over and above that of OFD alone, the effect sizes are also not large enough.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been widely applied in orthopedics, maxillofacial surgery, burns, and plastic surgery, especially in facial rejuvenation. Research is ongoing into new indications and mechanisms of PRP to promote its wider, safer, and more effective use in the clinic. This article reviews the possible mechanisms of PRP in facial rejuvenation and related research. It is expected that the application of PRP in this field will increase. METHODS The use of PRP in facial rejuvenation was screened using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The relevant articles were searched through Pubmed digest database, SCI full-text database, ScienceDirect full-text database, and the CNKI full-text database. The different effects and limitations of PRP were extracted. RESULTS A total of 108 articles were obtained, including 18 articles researching PRP in cells, 10 articles on animal research using PRP, 16 articles on the clinical study of PRP, 24 articles involving signs of skin aging, and four articles on the limitations of PRP. The remaining articles were related to the preparation of PRP, the introduction of PRP, and other aspects. CONCLUSION Based on in vitro and in vivo research, PRP may play a role in promoting tissue regeneration, oxidative stress and revascularization, which form the theoretical basis for the use of PRP in the clinical treatment of facial rejuvenation. Abstract
Objective To assess the effect of platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) on implant dentistry. The primary focused question was as follows: What are the clinical, histological, and radiographic outcomes of PRP administration for bone regeneration and implant therapy? Methods A literature search was conducted involving three databases: MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane database followed by a hand search of relevant scientific journals. Human studies using PRP for bone regeneration and implant therapy were considered and articles published up to December 31, 2017 were included. Eligible studies were selected based on the inclusion criteria, and quality assessments were conducted. Results In total, out from the 9,497 titles meeting the original search criteria, 22 fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were chosen for data extraction. Among them were 15 randomized controlled trials (RCT) and seven controlled clinical trials (CCT). Overall, the risk of bias was moderate to high. A total of seven studies showed superior outcomes when PRP was added during sinus floor elevation and five showed no superior outcome. Three studies found a significant advantage of PRP for alveolar bone regeneration and another three studies for soft tissue healing. Three studies reported on beneficial effects of PRP directly during implant placement while another study failed to find significant differences. Due to the heterogeneity of study designs, no meta‐analysis could be performed. Summary and Conclusions Despite the lack of consistent evidence supporting the clinical benefit of PRP in healthy patients, PRP might have a positive effect on wound healing and bone regeneration in compromised patients.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate whether a combination of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and decalcified freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) offers advantages over DFDBA and saline in infrabony defects. The objectives were to primarily evaluate changes in clinical attachment level (CAL) and secondarily changes in pocket depth (PD). A search was performed of electronic databases (Medline, PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science), as well as hand searching and reference list searching. Only randomized, controlled trials published up until 30 March 2018 were included that had a follow-up period of at least 6 months. Four papers met the eligibility criteria and were critically appraised using the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials statement and put through the Cochrane Collaboration's tool for assessing risk of bias. In three of the four studies, clinically and significantly greater CAL gains and PD reductions were observed in patients who received PRP and DFDBA in comparison to those who received DFDBA and saline (P < 0.05). Methodological heterogeneity existed among the studies, especially in the preparation of PRP and the type of infrabony defect. This made it difficult to draw clear conclusions, but despite this, the studies could still be regarded, as significant as they showed a low risk of bias.

Abstract
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) membrane is a three-dimensional biodegradable biopolymer, which consists of platelet derived growth factors enhancing cell adhesion and proliferation. It is widely used in soft and hard tissue regeneration, however, there are unresolved problems with its clinical application. Its preparation needs open handling of the membranes, it degrades easily, and it has a low tensile strength which does not hold a suture blocking wider clinical applications of PRF. Our aim was to produce a sterile, suturable, reproducible PRF membrane suitable for surgical intervention. We compared the biological and mechanical properties of PRF membranes created by the classical glass-tube and those that were created in a single-syringe closed system (hypACT Inject), which allowed aseptic preparation. HypACT Inject device produces a PRF membrane with better handling characteristics without compromising biological properties. Freeze-thawing resulted in significantly higher tensile strength and higher cell adhesion at a lower degradation rate of the membranes. Mesenchymal stem cells seeded onto PRF membranes readily proliferated on the surface of fresh, but even better on freeze/thawed or freeze-dried membranes. These data show that PRF membranes can be made sterile, more uniform and significantly stronger which makes it possible to use them as suturable surgical membranes.

Abstract
The periodontium, consisting of gingiva, periodontal ligament, cementum, and alveolar bone, is a hierarchically organized tissue whose primary role is to provide physical and mechanical support to the teeth. Severe cases of periodontitis, an inflammatory condition initiated by an oral bacterial biofilm, can lead to significant destruction of soft and hard tissues of the periodontium and result in compromised dental function and aesthetics. Although current treatment approaches can limit the progression of the disease by controlling the inflammatory aspect, complete periodontal regeneration cannot be predictably achieved. Various tissue engineering approaches are investigated for their ability to control the critical temporo-spatial wound healing events that are essential for achieving periodontal regeneration. This paper reviews recent progress in the field of periodontal tissue engineering with an emphasis on advanced 3D multiphasic tissue engineering constructs (TECs) and provides a critical analysis of their regenerative potential and limitations. The review also elaborates on the future of periodontal tissue engineering, including scaffold customization for individual periodontal defects, TEC's functionalization strategies for imparting enhanced bioactivity, periodontal ligament fiber guidance, and the utilization of chair-side regenerative solutions that can facilitate clinical translation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is widely used in regenerative dentistry and other medical fields. However, its effectiveness has often been questioned. For better evaluation, the quality of individual PRP preparations should be assured prior to use. We proposed a spectrophotometric method for determination of platelet counts and validated its applicability using two types of PRP preparations. METHODS Blood samples were obtained from healthy male volunteers and pure PRP (P-PRP) and leukocytes-rich PRP (L-PRP) were prepared using the double-spin method. In serial dilutions, platelet counts in P-PRP and L-PRP were determined using an automated hematology analyzer and a compact spectrophotometer. For validation, P-PRP and L-PRP independently prepared by three well-trained operators were used for comparison of the calculated and measured platelet counts. RESULTS In the two types of PRP samples evaluated, platelet counts were almost equal and greater amount of both white blood cells (WBCs) and red blood cells (RBCs) were included in L-PRP preparations. The calibration curve obtained from serially diluted P-PRP showed a strong correlation (R2 = 0.995), whereas that of L-PRP was relatively weaker (R2 = 0.975). In validation testing, the scatter plot of the calculated platelet counts versus the measured values showed a strong correlation in P-PRP (R2 = 0.671), whereas that of L-PRP showed a much weaker correlation (R2 = 0.0605). CONCLUSIONS This method can precisely determine platelet counts in PRP preparations when the inclusion of WBCs or RBCs is minimized. Therefore, we recommend that clinicians use this method for quality assurance of individual PRP preparations.

Abstract
The main purpose of the present systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy of platelet concentrates in pulpotomy of human teeth. Our systematic search included Medline, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Scopus, key journals, and review articles; the date of the last search was July 30, 2017. We graded the methodological quality of the studies by Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Four randomized controlled trails were included in the present systematic review. The number of study participants ranged from 28 to 50, with a mean of 45.5. The age of study participants ranged between 4 and 25 years. In three of the included studies, platelet-rich fibrin (autologous) was used and in one study lyophilized freeze-dried platelet (allogenic) was used as pulpotomy material. Calcium hydroxide and mineral trioxide aggregate were used in control groups. The quality assessment rated three studies as being of fair quality and one study as poor quality. Two of the included studies showed a 100% success of pulpotomy with platelet concentrates and two studies showed more than 80% of success, but the difference between control group and platelet concentrates group was not statistically significant. To conclude, the number of publications that met all inclusion criteria was found to be very limited and no significant difference was reported in the studies comparing platelet concentrates with other materials in pulpotomy. The present results point to the need for high-quality randomized controlled trials in further research.

Abstract
Background & Objectives Periodontal disease is characterized by the presence of gingival inflammation, periodontal pocket formation, loss of connective tissue attachment and alveolar bone around the affected tooth. Different modalities have been employed in the treatment and regeneration of periodontal defects which include the use of bone grafts, PRP and other growth factors.The purpose of this prospective, randomized controlled study was to compare the regenerative efficacy of PRP and bonegraft in intrabony periodontal defects. Methodology This randomized control trial was carried out in the Department of Periodontics & Oral Implantology, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. The study sample included 20 periodontal infrabony defects in 20 patients, 12 males and 8 females. The patients were aged between 25 -45 years(with mean age of 35 years). The 20 sites selected for the study were was randomly divided into 2 groups of 10 sites each. Group A: PRP alone, Group B: Bone Graft. Statistical Anaysis & Results Statistical Analysis Was Done Using SPSS Version 180 Statistical analysis was done usingpaired 't' tests and ANOVA that revealed a significant reduction ingingival index, plaque index, probing pocket depth and gain in clinical attachment level at various time intervalswithin both the groups. Radiographic evaluation revealed statistically significant defect fill (p<0.001) at the end of 6months within both the groups. However, there was astatistically significant difference seen in group B radiographically, when compared to group A. Conclusion Both the groups showed promising results in enhancing periodontal regeneration; however the resultswith bonegraftwere comparatively better, although not statistically significant when compared to PRP alone.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the clinical long-term outcomes 13 years following guided tissue regeneration (GTR) in deep intra-bony defects with and without additional application of autogenous platelet concentrate (APC). METHODS In 25 patients, two deep contra-lateral intra-bony defects were treated according to GTR using β-TCP and bio-resorbable membranes. In test defects, APC was applied additionally. After 13 years, clinical healing results were assessed and compared to results at baseline and after 1 year. Furthermore, a tooth survival analysis was carried out. RESULTS After 13 years, 22 patients were available for tooth survival analysis showing 81.8% of test and 86.4% of control teeth still in situ. Based on the 15 patients still available for split-mouth analysis, median CAL was 10.0 mm in test and 12.0 mm in control sites at baseline. After 1 year, both groups revealed significant CAL gains of 5.0 mm, followed by a new CAL loss of 1.0 mm in the following 12 years. There were no significant differences between test and control sites. CONCLUSION Within the limits of this study, the data show that most of the CAL gain following GTR can be maintained over 13 years. The additional use of APC had no positive influence on the long-term stability.

Abstract
Coaxial electrospun fibrous membranes show favorable mechanical properties for use in guided bone regeneration (GBR). We used coaxial electrospinning technology to fabricate three-dimensional nanofiber membranes loaded with BMP-2 and IGF-1, and assessed the physicochemical and biological properties of these novel membranes in vitro. We fabricated four experimental groups of BMP-2/IGF-1/BSA-loaded membranes with different flow ratios (shell/core). Membrane characteristics were assessed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and laser confocal microscopy. Physicochemical and drug release properties were evaluated based on contact angle, mechanical property testing, X-ray diffraction analysis, and ELISA. The membranes were seeded with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) to estimate their biological properties based on cell viability and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity. The four membrane groups presented uniform diameters and core-shell structures. Acceleration of the shell solution flow rate increased the contact angle and mechanical properties of the fibrous membrane, while dual-factor addition did not impact fiber structure. Each drug-loaded membrane showed a gradually increasing release curve, with varying degrees of burst and sustained release. Compared to the other groups, the membranes with a core-shell flow ratio of 1:10 showed better drug-loading capacity and sustained release performance, higher biological properties and good barrier function. Optimal parameters were chosen based on the physical and chemical characteristics and biological properties of the membrane. Our results imply that the BMP-2/IGF-1/BSA-loaded coaxial electrospun fibrous membrane with optimum parameters is a suitable barrier membrane for GBR, and releases multiple factors promoting osteoconduction and osteoinduction.
