Abstract
The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of the pre-application of a dentin-bonding agent and the application of different lasers on the prevention of tooth discoloration caused by mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in the presence of blood. Sixty extracted human anterior teeth were selected, with root lengths standardized to 10 mm and root canals shaped using Gates-Glidden drills #3 to #5. The samples were divided into six groups (n = 10): Group 1 with no surface treatment and Groups 2 to 6 with Optibond universal adhesive and Neodymium yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG), Erbium yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG), Erbium-chromium-yttrium-scandium-gallium-garnet (Er:Cr:YSGG), and diode laser applications, respectively. Root canals were filled with fresh human blood, and ProRoot MTA and a collagen barrier were then placed. Color changes were measured with a spectrophotometer at 0, 7, 30, 90, and 180 days post MTA placement. Color differences (∆E) were analyzed using a two-factor mixed-design ANOVA with the Sidak method (p = 0.05). All treatment groups exhibited discoloration above the acceptability threshold. Although all treatment approaches exhibited less color change compared to the control group (p < 0.05), there was no significant difference among them in terms of preventing color change (p > 0.05). It was determined that none of the methods could guarantee 100% prevention of discoloration caused by MTA-blood contact.

Abstract
AIM The efficacy of Copal Varnish (CV), dentin bonding agent (DBA), Nd:YAG laser and Er:YAG laser, which occludes dentin tubules by different mechanisms, was investigated in order to prevent unwanted coloration caused by methylene blue (MB) and phthalocyanine used in photodynamic therapy (PDT). MATERIALS AND METHODS 165 upper incisors included in the study. Root canals were prepared up to 30/0.6 size for all teeth using Protaper Next rotary files. Then the teeth were randomly divided into 2 main groups (n = 60); MB and phthalocyanine. Each main group was randomly divided into 5 subgroups (n = 15); Positive control, DBA, CV, Er:YAG and Nd:YAG. Root canals were filled with photosensitizers (PS) and activated after the dentin tubule occlusion method was applied to all teeth. Then, the residual PSs were removed by irrigation. Color measurements of the samples were carried out 5 different time periods. RESULTS Clinically detectable color change was observed in all groups except for the negative control (ΔE≥3.3). It was determined that the positive control using MB caused more unwanted coloration in the CV on the 30th and 90th days compared to the phthalocyanine used in the 90th day (p < 0.05). While none of the dentin tubule occlusion methods were superior to each other in preventing undesirable coloration caused by phthalocyanine, Er:YAG caused less unwanetd coloration than CV only on the 90th day in preventing unwanted coloration caused by MB (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS All dentin tubule occlusion methods used in the present study were effective in preventing some degree of unwanted discoloration. However, it was found that no technique could completely prevent unwanted coloration.

Abstract
Dental trauma may have a severe impact on the social and psychological wellbeing of a patient. Most cases of dental injuries involve anterior teeth, especially the maxillary upper incisors. Crown fractures, with or without pulp exposure, are the most common trauma in permanent dentition. There are many methods of management, in which the initial state of the pulp, the time since the injury, and the presence of an accompanying injury play a key role. This case report aimed at showing a possible conservative treatment after complicated tooth fracture that consisted of partial pulpotomy followed by adhesive reattachment of the tooth fragment using a technique based on heated resin composite. Such a specific procedure represents a conservative approach to traumatic coronal lesions, providing a suitable opportunity to maintain the tooth vitality, aesthetics, and function. Indeed, reattachment of tooth fragment using a composite/adhesive is a simple technique to achieve excellent results in terms of aesthetic and function.

Abstract
Background The present study aimed to make a comparison between the effects of 35% hydrogen peroxide gel (HP) and sodium perborate with distilled water (SP) bleaching agents on the sealing characteristics of glass ionomer cement (GIC), TheraBase, ProRoot MTA and Biodentine intraorifice barriers. Methods One hundred and twelve single-rooted mandibular human premolar teeth extracted from young patients (14–25 years) were chosen. Root cement and cementoenamel junction (CEJ) of teeth were examined under a stereomicroscope at 10 × magnification to ensure there was no cement defect or dentin gap in CEJ. After the endodontic access cavities were opened on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth, the working length was determined. Instrumentation of each root canal was performed with a ProTaper Gold rotary system in the determined working length and filled with gutta-percha + AH Plus with a single cone technique using. Root fillings were removed 3 mm short of the CEJ and sealed with one of the following intraorifice barrier materials (n = 30/group): 1. GIC; 2. TheraBase; 3. ProProot-MTA; 4. Biodentine. In each of the sub-groups, either HP or SP was used to perform intracoronal bleaching on days 1, 4, and 7. All outer surfaces of the specimens except the 3 mm cervical region were covered with nail polish and modeling wax layers. Specimens were immersed in a 5 ml Eppendorf tube that contained 2 mL of distilled water. The penetration of peroxide release was measured using the colorimetric ferric thiocyanate method. Statistical analysis of the data was performed with Three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test (P = 0.05). Results In the HP groups, GIC showed the greatest peroxide release when compared with other tested groups on day 1 (P < 0.05). Biodentine and ProRoot MTA displayed a significantly lower peroxide leakage when compared to GIC and TheraBase on days 1 and 4 (P < 0.05). While GIC and TheraBase were used, HP observed higher peroxide penetration when compared with SP on days 1 and 4 (P < 0.05). Conclusions Peroxide diffusion was significantly influenced by the kind of intracoronal bleaching agents and intraorifice barrier materials used.

Abstract
According to the FAIR principles, data produced by scientific research should be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable-for instance, to be used in machine learning algorithms. However, to date, there is no estimate of the quantity or quality of dental research data evaluated via the FAIR principles. We aimed to determine the availability of open data in dental research and to assess compliance with the FAIR principles (or FAIRness) of shared dental research data. We downloaded all available articles published in PubMed-indexed dental journals from 2016 to 2021 as open access from Europe PubMed Central. In addition, we took a random sample of 500 dental articles that were not open access through Europe PubMed Central. We assessed data sharing in the articles and compliance of shared data to the FAIR principles programmatically. Results showed that of 7,509 investigated articles, 112 (1.5%) shared data. The average (SD) level of compliance with the FAIR metrics was 32.6% (31.9%). The average for each metric was as follows: findability, 3.4 (2.7) of 7; accessibility, 1.0 (1.0) of 3; interoperability, 1.1 (1.2) of 4; and reusability, 2.4 (2.6) of 10. No considerable changes in data sharing or quality of shared data occurred over the years. Our findings indicated that dental researchers rarely shared data, and when they did share, the FAIR quality was suboptimal. Machine learning algorithms could understand 1% of available dental research data. These undermine the reproducibility of dental research and hinder gaining the knowledge that can be gleaned from machine learning algorithms and applications.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study evaluated the relative abundance and ribosomal activity of selected bacteria in carious dentin of teeth with different pulp conditions. METHODS Thirty healthy patients with class I occlusal caries in molars were categorized into 3 groups based on the pulp diagnosis: normal pulp (NP, n = 10) with caries extending less than half the thickness of dentin (as assessed radiographically), reversible pulpitis (n = 10), and symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (n = 10) with caries extending more than two thirds of the thickness of dentin. Carious dentin samples were collected from the deepest part of the cavity and stored in RNAlater solution (Ambion Inc, Austin, TX). Eight bacterial taxa were evaluated from the samples: Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus fermentum, Veillonella, Actinomyces, Rothia dentocariosa, Olsenella profusa, Prevotella intermedia, and Bifidobacterium dentium. The 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and 16S rRNA were quantified by real-time polymerase chain reaction and used to calculate the relative genome abundance and relative ribosomal abundance. The Fisher exact test was used to compare proportions between groups. The mean rank difference between the various groups was assessed using the Kruskal-Wallis test with the Bonferroni-Holm correction. RESULTS The reversible pulpitis group had significantly higher 16S rRNA gene and rRNA counts of Actinomyces (P < .001 and P = .002) and B. dentium (P = .005 and P = .007) relative to the NP group. The symptomatic irreversible pulpitis group had significantly higher 16S rRNA gene and rRNA counts of L. fermentum (P < .001 and P < .001), Actinomyces (P < .001 and P < .001), O. profusa (P < .001 and P < .001), P. intermedia (P = .001 and P = .002), and Bifidobacterium (P < .001 and P < .001) relative to the NP group. CONCLUSIONS Specific bacterial activity varies in carious dentin of teeth with different pulp conditions.
