Abstract
AIM Ovarian serous carcinoma (OSC) and ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) are two major histological types of epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC), each with different biological features and clinical behaviors. Although immunostaining is commonly used for differential diagnosis between OSC and OCCC, correct identification of EOC with mixed-type histology is sometimes a diagnostic challenge. The aim of the present study was to explore candidate genes as potential diagnostic biomarkers that distinguish OSC from OCCC. METHODS A total of 57 surgical specimens were obtained from EOC patients who had previously undergone primary debulking surgery. Total RNAs were extracted from fresh-frozen tissues of EOC patients, and were used for comprehensive gene expression analysis using DNA microarray technology. RESULTS Ten candidate genes, FXYD2, TMEM101, GABARAPL1, ARG2, GLRX, RBPMS, GDF15, PPP1R3B, TOB1, and GSTM3 were up-regulated in OCCC compared to OSC. All EOC patients were divided into two groups according to hierarchical clustering using a 10-gene signature. CONCLUSION Our data suggest that the 10 candidate genes would be an excellent marker for distinguishing OSC from OCCC. Furthermore, the molecular signatures of the 10 genes may enlighten us on the differences in carcinogenesis, and provide a theoretical basis for OCCC's resistance to chemotherapy in the future.

Abstract
Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of a clinical nursing pathway and visual health education on patients with perianal abscesses was the objective of this study.
Methods: Eighty patients with perianal abscesses undergoing in-patient surgical treatment (blinded for review) between December 2019 and November 2020 were divided randomly and evenly into a control group and an experimental group. The control group received routine nursing care, and the experimental group received visual health education nursing care. Digital pain scores, patient satisfaction scores, nursing quality scores, and scores measuring knowledge of perianal abscess disease for the two groups before and after nursing care were compared and analyzed.
Results: The experimental group had visual analog scale (VAS) scores significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). For total nursing satisfaction, the experimental group demonstrated a higher satisfaction rate (P < 0.05). Clinical nursing quality scores were significantly higher in the experimental group than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The perianal abscess disease-related knowledge scores after intervention were significantly higher in the experimental group than those in the control group (P < 0.01).
Conclusions: Visual health education nursing can help patients better understand and deal with perianal abscess disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND CD44 is an epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) surface receptor that regulates the interactivity between the cells and the extracellular matrix, thereby promoting cell migration. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family is a trans-membrane kinase-related protein. It regulates cell adhesion proteins, which may promote cell proliferation and invasiveness. Mesenchymal epithelial transition (MET) is another EMT receptor that stimulates cell proliferation, invasion, survival, and angiogenesis. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact of CD44, EGFR expressions, and MET gene amplification in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). METHODS This is a retrospective cohort study, including 85 cases of EOC. CD44 and EGFR expressions were evaluated in both epithelial and stromal cells by immunohistochemistry. Tumor cells also underwent a cytogenetic analysis using fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect MET gene amplification. RESULTS High CD44 expression in tumors was significantly associated with serous subtypes (P=0.001), peritoneal deposits (P=0.002), and advanced stage (P=0.002). EGFR high tumor expression demonstrated a significant association with lymph node metastasis (P=0.038) and the advanced stage of EOC (P=0.016). Increased copy number of the MET gene was significantly associated with partial therapy response (P=0.030). CD44 and EGFR tumor high expression was associated with poor overall survival (OS). In addition, MET gene gain in tumors was associated with a shorter OS (P=0.000). CONCLUSION EMT biomarkers (CD44 and MET) and EGFR expression in EOC are independent prognostic factors for OS. MET gene increase copy number was detected in cases of serous neoplasm and associated with poor survival and minimal therapy response.

Abstract
RATIONALE Ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) is an uncommon malignant form of 5 subtypes of ovarian cancer, accounting for approximately 5% to 25% of all ovarian cancers. OCCC is usually diagnosed at a young age and an early stage. More than 50% of patients are associated with endometriosis. It shows less sensitivity to platinum-based chemotherapies, high recurrence, and poor prognosis, especially late. However, platinum-based chemotherapies remain the first-line treatment. Meanwhile, new treatment modalities have been explored, including immune checkpoint inhibitors and PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway inhibitors. PATIENT CONCERN A 48-year-old Chinese woman, Gravida2 Para1, complained of irregular and painful vaginal bleeding for 4 months. DIAGNOSIS The patient was diagnosed with stage IC ovarian clear cell carcinoma that presented with a mutation of the phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase alpha subunit (PIK3CA) gene. INTERVENTION We performed an early diagnosis and complete surgical resection of the tumor with platinum-based chemotherapy. OUTCOME This patient with mutation of the PIK3CA gene was sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy, showed a significant downwards trend in tumor markers, and was in good health within the year of follow-up. LESSONS This study described an OCCC case that presented with a PIK3CA mutation and was successfully managed with careful and complete resection of the tumor. This patient with mutation of the PIK3CA gene was sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy, showed a significant downwards trend in tumor markers, and did not have recurrence after a year of follow-up, indicating a reasonably good prognosis. Therefore, surgery plus platinum drug chemotherapy is still the best strategy for OCCC treatment. In addition, it is recommended for such patients to undergo genetic testing as much as possible to predict the clinical treatment effect.

Abstract
Among all fatal gynecological malignant tumors, ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rate. The purpose of this study was to develop a stable and personalized glycometabolism-related prognostic signature to predict the overall survival of ovarian cancer patients. The gene expression profiles and clinical information of ovarian cancer patients were derived from four public GEO datasets, which were divided into training and testing cohorts. Glycometabolism-related genes significantly associated with prognosis were selected. A risk score model was established and validated to evaluate its predictive value. We found 5 genes significantly related to prognosis and established a five-mRNA signature. The five-mRNA signature significantly divided patients into a low-risk group and a high-risk group in the training set and validation set. Survival analysis showed that high risk scores obtained by the model were significantly correlated with adverse survival outcomes and could be regarded as an independent predictor for patients with ovarian cancer. In addition, the five-mRNA signature can predict the overall survival of ovarian cancer patients in different subgroups. In summary, we successfully constructed a model that can predict the prognosis of patients with ovarian cancer, which provides new insights into postoperative treatment strategies, promotes individualized therapy, and provides potential new targets for immunotherapy.

Abstract
Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary (ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC)) is one epithelial ovarian carcinoma that is known to have a poor prognosis and a tendency for being refractory to treatment due to unclear pathogenesis. Published investigations of OCCC have mainly focused only on individual genes and lack of systematic integrated research to analyze the pathogenesis of OCCC in a genome-wide perspective. Thus, we conducted an integrated analysis using transcriptome datasets from a public domain database to determine genes that may be implicated in the pathogenesis involved in OCCC carcinogenesis. We used the data obtained from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) DataSets. We found six interactive functional gene clusters in the pathogenesis network of OCCC, including ribosomal protein, eukaryotic translation initiation factors, lactate, prostaglandin, proteasome, and insulin-like growth factor. This finding from our integrated analysis affords us a global understanding of the interactive network of OCCC pathogenesis.
