Abstract
PURPOSE Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) describes common noncancerous prostate enlargement. BPH is usually associated with lower urinary tract symptoms and an increased risk of cerebrovascular diseases, such as stroke and its recurrence. White matter hyperintensities (WMHs), markers of cerebral injury, increase the risk of stroke, cognitive impairment, dementia, and death. The relationship between BPH and WMHs remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the association between BPH and WMHs. METHODS A total of 788 male patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from July 2019 to September 2021 were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. BPH was assessed by abdominal ultrasound, and three independent neuroradiologists rated the presence or absence of WMHs. Multiple imputations of chained equations were used to handle missing data. Logistic regression was used to assess the relationship between BPH and WMHs. RESULTS Patients with BPH presented an increased risk of WMHs with a crude odds ratio (OR) of 2.76 (95% CI, 2.02-3.79) and an adjusted OR of 1.75 (95% CI, 1.24-2.48) after controlling for potential confounding factors in the multivariate logistic regression. CONCLUSION We found that BPH was closely associated with WMHs in male Chinese individuals.

Abstract
In recent years, we have witnessed prominent improvements in urinary catheter coatings to tackle the commonly occurring catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) in catheterized patients. CAUTIs are claimed to be one of the most frequent nosocomial infections that can lead to various complications, from catheter encrustation to severe septicaemia and pyelonephritis. Besides general prevention hygienic strategies, antimicrobial-coated urinary catheters show great potential in the prevention of urinary catheter-associated complications. The aim of this review is to present and evaluate recent updates on the development of antimicrobial urinary catheters in the context of the aetiology of urinary malfunction. Subsequently, we shed some light on future perspectives of utilizing 3D printing and the surrounding regulatory directions.

Abstract
Hypertension is associated with bladder symptoms. The present study investigated whether an angiotensin receptor blocker could improve the symptoms and pathological changes associated with a neurogenic bladder (NB). A Sprague-Dawley rat model of NB was constructed. Rats in the sham and model groups were gavaged with saline, and rats in the treatment group were gavaged with telmisartan. Urodynamic parameters, including maximum cystometric capacity, residual urine volume, bladder wet weight, bladder compliance and detrusor pressure, were detected. Masson and H&E staining were performed to assess bladder fibrosis and histopathological changes. The expression levels of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), TGF-β1, Collagen I, Collagen III, and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were also measured by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemistry. The model rats exhibited symptoms and pathological changes associated with NB. Treatment with telmisartan reduced maximum cystometric capacity, residual urine volume, bladder compliance and bladder wet weight, and increased detrusor pressure in model rats. The tissue staining results showed that telmisartan exerted an antifibrotic effect. In addition, telmisartan inhibited the expression of bFGF, TGF-β1, Collagen I, Collagen III and α-SMA in model rats. Therefore, the results of the present study indicated that telmisartan may serve as a potential therapeutic agent for NB.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the prospective association of BPH with subsequent risk of CVD, including heart disease and stroke. METHODS We used data from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study of 5242 Chinese men aged 45 years or older. During a follow-up of 7 years, we identified 613 cases of non-fatal CVD, including 417 heart diseases and 254 strokes. Cox proportional hazards models yielded hazard ratios (HRs) relating BPH to CVD, heart disease, and stroke incidence. RESULTS Overall, 8.1% of men reported a history of BPH diagnosed by physicians at baseline. As compared with men without a history of BPH, those reporting a history of BPH had an increased risk of developing CVD (multivariable-adjusted HR = 1.43 [1.12, 1.83], heart disease (1.35 [1.00, 1.83]), and stroke (1.50 [1.03, 2.19]). The subgroup analysis by age at baseline (< 60 vs. ≥ 60 years) showed that the associations appeared to be evident among men < 60 years, particularly for CVD (1.82 [1.24, 2.69]) and heart disease (1.72 [1.06, 2.79]). However, interaction tests suggested the associations were not significantly modified by age (P for interaction > 0.10 for all outcomes). CONCLUSION In Chinese men, BPH was associated with higher risks of CVD, heart disease and stroke, particularly among men aged < 60 years.

Abstract
AIMS Overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome has been associated with core muscles weakness, which is important in aetiology of low back pain (LBP) and affects general well-being. This study aimed to compare the lumbopelvic stability, LBP and well-being of women with OAB to asymptomatic controls and to determine the cut-off points. METHODS Women with (OAB group, n = 36) and without OAB syndrome (control group, n = 36) were included. The lumbopelvic stability with the Sahrmann and McGill trunk muscle endurance tests, LBP intensity with the Visual Analogue Scale were assessed. As for general well-being, sleep quality with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), fatigue severity with the Fatigue Severity Index (FSI), anxiety and depression levels with the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS-A, HADS-D) were evaluated. RESULTS In the OAB group compared to the control group, the lumbopelvic stability scores were lower (p < 0.001) while LBP prevalence (p < 0.001), pain intensity (p = 0.020), and PSQI, FSI, HADS-A, and HADS-D scores (p < 0.001) were higher. The cut-off points for trunk extension, flexion, right and left lateral flexion endurance tests and Sahrmann test were ≤9.42 sec, ≤8.62 sec, ≤19.26 sec, ≤5.16 sec, and ≤2 level, respectively. The cut-off points for PSQI, FSI, HADS-D, HADS-A were >5, >5.22, >6 and >6 scores, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Women with OAB syndrome had lower lumbopelvic stability, higher LBP prevalence and intensity, lower sleep quality, and more fatigue, anxiety, and depression levels compared to asymptomatic women. The cut-off values were detected between the occurrence of OAB and lumbopelvic stability and general well-being parameters.

Abstract
Objectives: To determine the Prevalence and associated risk factors among patients with overactive bladder syndrome in Pakistan. Methods: This was a community-based, face to face, cross sectional survey to calculate the prevalence and its associated risk factors. A sample of 1058 patients, women and men aged between 35 to 60 years having symptoms of overactive bladder was selected through convenience sampling from different cities of Pakistan during September to December 2020. Data was collected by using an Overactive Bladder Scoring System (OABSS) tool for prevalence and a developed questionnaire to rule out the risk factors. Results: The prevalence was 27.4% (n=289) and it increased with age. The average ages for women and men were 44.60±7.88 and 46.14±7.69 years respectively. The OAB prevalence was the lowest among the participants aged 35-43 years 15.2% (n=55) while it was highest among those who were aged 53-60 years 49.6%, (n=127). The age, body mass index, diabetes mellitus, income, family history, parity and urinary tract infection were found to be significant associated risk factors for overactive bladder with p value <0.05. Conclusion: The overall prevalence of overactive bladder was 27.4% and it does not differ by gender, hypertension, pelvic surgery, smoking, constipation and sleep while it has significant association with age, body mass index, diabetes mellitus, income, parity and urinary tract infections.
