Abstract
BACKGROUND Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) is related to muscle fiber tearing during childbirth, negatively impacting postpartum quality of life of parturient. Appropriate and effective intervention is necessary to promote PFD recovery.
AIM To analyze the use of hydrogen peroxide and silver ion disinfection for vaginal electrodes in conjunction with comprehensive rehabilitation therapy for postpartum women with PFD.
METHODS A total of 59 women with PFD who were admitted to the hospital from May 2019 to July 2022 were divided into two groups: Control group (n = 27) received comprehensive rehabilitation therapy and observation group (n = 32) received intervention with pelvic floor biostimulation feedback instrument in addition to comprehensive rehabilitation therapy. The vaginal electrodes were disinfected with hydrogen peroxide and silver ion before treatment. Intervention for both groups was started 6 weeks postpartum, and rehabilitation lasted for 3 months. Pelvic floor muscle voltage, pelvic floor muscle strength, vaginal muscle voltage, vaginal muscle tone, pelvic floor function, quality of life, and incidence of postpartum PFD were compared between the two groups.
RESULTS Before comprehensive rehabilitation treatment, basic data and pelvic floor function were not significantly different between the two groups. After treatment, the observation group showed significant improvements in the maximum voltage and average voltage of pelvic floor muscles, contraction time of type I and type II fibers, pelvic floor muscle strength, vaginal muscle tone, vaginal muscle voltage, and quality of life (GQOLI-74 reports), compared with the control group. The observation group had lower scores on the pelvic floor distress inventory (PFDI-20) and a lower incidence of postpartum PFD, indicating the effectiveness of the pelvic floor biostimulation feedback instrument in promoting the recovery of maternal pelvic floor function.
CONCLUSION The combination of the pelvic floor biostimulation feedback instrument and comprehensive rehabilitation nursing can improve pelvic floor muscle strength, promote the recovery of vaginal muscle tone, and improve pelvic floor function and quality of life. The use of hydrogen peroxide and silver ion disinfectant demonstrated favorable antibacterial efficacy and is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS Urinary incontinence (UI) is highly prevalent in the general population, with numerous studies conducted in Europe and North America. However, there is a scarcity of data regarding its prevalence and sociodemographic factors in the southern region of Peru. There is an association between sociodemographic factors-such as age, educational level, body mass index, number of pregnancies, parity, mode of delivery, weight of the newborn-along with lifestyle factors such as physical effort, coffee and tobacco consumption with pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). We anticipate that this association will negatively impact women's quality of life. METHODS This was a quantitative study, with a non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional correlational design. A sample consisting of 468 women between 30 and 64 years old. A previously tested survey was applied to explore prevalence, symptoms, associated factors, and quality of life. RESULTS The prevalence of PFD was 73.9%. UI was the most common. There is a significant association with overweight, obesity, parity, route of delivery, and physical effort. Even though a large percentage of participants presented with PFD, they reported that their quality of life was not affected (65.9% urinary discomfort, 96.5% colorectal-anal discomfort and 92.2% pelvic organ prolapse discomfort) and only in the case of urinary discomfort did they state that the impact was mild (28.6%) and moderate (5.5%). CONCLUSIONS Pelvic floor dysfunction in women is very common and it is strongly associated with overweight, obesity, parity, route of delivery, and physical exertion. The impact on quality of life was mild and moderate for those who had urinary discomfort.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Connective tissue disorders are proposed in the literature to be predisposing risk factors for pelvic floor disorders. Prior data characterizing the prevalence of and symptom burden related to pelvic floor disorders are limited for individuals with Marfan syndrome and are nonexistent for those with Loeys-Dietz syndrome. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and severity of symptoms related to pelvic floor disorders among individuals with Marfan syndrome and Loeys-Dietz syndrome using the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 (PFDI-20). STUDY DESIGN In this cross-sectional study, a survey including the PFDI-20 was administered to biologically female individuals older than 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of Marfan syndrome or Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. Respondents were solicited through the websites, email lists, and social media forums of The Marfan Foundation and The Loeys-Dietz syndrome Foundation. RESULTS A total of 286 respondents were included in the final analysis, 213 with Marfan syndrome and 73 with Loeys-Dietz syndrome. The median PFDI-20 score of the cohort was 43.8. Individuals with Loeys-Dietz syndrome had higher PFDI-20 scores and were more likely to have established risk factors for pelvic floor disorders that correlated with their PFDI-20 scores compared with those with Marfan syndrome. CONCLUSIONS Respondents with Marfan syndrome and Loeys-Dietz syndrome experience a high burden of symptoms related to pelvic floor disorders. Despite the similar pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of these disorders, there were differences in PFDI-20 responses that may suggest that these diseases differ in the ways they affect the pelvic floor.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS The objective was to observe the clinical efficacy of warm acupuncture combined with Kegel exercise in treating postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction in women. METHODS A total of 70 primiparous women with postpartum pelvic floor muscle (PFM) injury were randomly divided into a combination group (n = 35, receiving warm acupuncture at Zhibian (BL54) acupoint and Kegel exercise) and a sham control group (n = 35, receiving sham warm acupuncture and Kegel exercise). Both groups were treated three times a week for 4 consecutive weeks. The recovery of PFM strength and changes in Urethral Rotation Angle (URA), Bladder Neck Descent (BND), and Retrovesical Angle (RVA) in pelvic floor ultrasound reports, the scores of pelvic floor dysfunction-related questionnaires, and the efficacy of urinary incontinence treatment of the two groups were compared before and after treatment. RESULTS After treatment, the recovery rates of type I and II PFM strength, pelvic floor ultrasound parameters, pelvic floor dysfunction-related scale scores, and urinary incontinence treatment efficacy in the combination group were significantly better than those in the sham control group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Warm acupuncture combined with Kegel exercise can significantly improve PFM strength and promote the recovery of postpartum pelvic floor function in women.

Abstract
Purpose Pelvic floor disorder (PFD) seriously affects the everyday life of women. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and risk factors for postpartum PFD in women living in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR). Methods Parous women who attended the outpatient gynaecology clinic at our hospital between June 2022 and August 2022 were screened in this study. The demographic and clinical data of these women were collected. Their pelvic floor functions were evaluated via a pelvic organ prolapse (POP) quantification examination, the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory Questionnaire-20 (PFDI-20) and the Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS). Results A total of 201 women were included in this study, of whom 81.09% (163/201) were Tibetan. Twenty-seven women (13.43%) were diagnosed with POP stage ≥2 and 27 women (13.43%) with an OABSS score ≥3. The median PFDI-20 total score was 4.17 (range 0-43.75). Han women (n = 38) in the TAR had much lower PFDI-20 total scores, compared with Tibetan women (n = 163) (p < 0.05). The results of the multiple linear regression models showed that the PFDI-20 scores obtained from women living in the TAR were closely related to parity, history of heavy weight lifting, age, history of instrumental deliveries, ethnicity and number of caesarean sections. Conclusion Pelvic floor disorder is common among parous women living in the TAR. Ethnicity, parity, history of heavy weight lifting, age, history of instrumental deliveries and number of caesarean sections are the factors closely related to the PFDI-20 scores.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS The use of validated Quality of Life (QoL) questionnaires is useful in the standardization and interpretation process of pelvic floor patient symptoms, due to their functional nature and high prevalence. The Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory QoL questionnaire (PFDI-20) serves both as a symptom inventory and a measure of the degree of bother and distress caused by pelvic floor symptoms. It includes items related to pelvic organ prolapse and lower gastrointestinal and bladder dysfunction. METHODS After consensus translation and a comprehension test, the Italian version of the questionnaire was submitted to patients reporting bowel, bladder, or pelvic disorders (cases) and to asymptomatic women (controls). Cases received the questionnaire once again 2 weeks later by email. RESULTS A total of 254 patients answered the questionnaire. Construct validity was demonstrated by discriminating between cases and controls. Convergent validity was demonstrated for each domain (F < 0.001). In-ernal consistency reliability showed a satisfactory range (0.816-0.860). CONCLUSIONS The PFDI-20 allows a comprehensive assessment of the effect of pelvic floor disorders on the quality of life of women. Moreover, the PFDI-20 represents a very solid QoL tool, since it has been extensively used in literature, and its use is highly recommended by the International Consultation on Incontinence. The present study demonstrated good features for the Italian version of the PFDI-20 questionnaire.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study is aimed at assessing the effect of postoperative electrical stimulation (ES) plus biofeedback therapy on patient rehabilitation after pelvic floor reconstructive surgery. METHODS Patients with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) who had received pelvic floor reconstructive surgery were randomly allocated to the intervention group and the control group at a 1:1 ratio. Patients in the control group received routine postoperative nursing care. Patients in the intervention group underwent ES plus biofeedback therapy. The outcomes included the recovery of urination function, the improvement of pelvic floor muscle (PFM) strength, and the change of Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory Questionnaire-20 (PFDI-20) scores. The study outcomes were evaluated at pre-intervention (T0, 2 months after surgery), 3 months after surgery (T1), and 6 months after surgery (T2). RESULTS A total of 60 patients with POP were included in this study. For the urination function evaluation, the intervention group had a higher recovered rate than the control group at the time point of T2 (p = 0.038). For the EMG results, the changes of flick-max and tonic-mean values from T0 to T2 were much higher in the intervention group comparing to the control group. Corresponding to the EMG results, digital palpation showed that intervention group had a much higher proportion of patients who had elevated PFM strength. Furthermore, the intervention group also had more significant PFDI-20 score improvements compared with control group. CONCLUSIONS Postoperative ES plus biofeedback therapy could significantly improve urination function, PFM strength, and patient's reported QoL. Abstract
BACKGROUND Every year, millions of women worldwide suffer in silence from pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) as an annoying health problem. Despite the high prevalence rate and negative effects of PFDs on the quality of life, the validity and reliability of pelvic floor distress inventory-short form (PFDI-20) has not been confirmed for Iranian women of reproductive age. Hence, this study aimed to determine measurement properties of PFDI-20 among women of reproductive age in Tabriz, Iran. METHODS The current study was cross-sectional research that selected 400 women of reproductive age referring to health centers in Tabriz City, by using cluster random sampling from May 2022 to September 2022. Measurement properties of the Persian version of PFDI-20 were determined and evaluated through five steps, including content and face validity within two quantitative and qualitative parts, structural validity by using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and reliability testing through internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and measurement error. Moreover, ceiling and floor effects were investigated. RESULTS In this research, CVI (content validity index) and CVR (content validity ratio) of PFDI-20 equaled 0.94 and 0.97, respectively. In addition, the EFA process was applied to 20 items and derived the structure of three factors, which explained 58.15% of the total variance. In CFA phase, values of fit indicators (RMSEA = 0.07, SRMR = 0.07, TLI = 0.97, CFI = 0.99, x2/df = 3.19) confirmed the model validity. To determine reliability, Cronbach's alpha = 0.84; McDonald's omega (95% CI) = 0.84 (0.82 to 0.87) and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (95% CI) = 0.98 (0.97 to 0.99) were obtained. Also, the SEM was 2.64, and the SDC indicating the smallest individual change was 8.91. Regarding the inventory feasibility, the ceiling effect was not observed in total value and subscales, while the floor effect in the total score of PFDI-20 equaled 24.0. The latter rate equaled 45.8, 38.3, and 50.8 for subscales POPDI-6, CRADI-8, and UDI-6, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Persian version of PFDI-20 is a valid and reliable scale used to evaluate PFDs in Iranian women of reproductive age. Healthcare professionals can use this scale to screen PFDs, and researchers can consider it a reliable tool for their studies.
