Abstract
BACKGROUND Cancer treatment-related nausea and vomiting continue to be common and distressing symptoms for patients, despite improvements in antiemetics. Dietary modifications could potentially improve this symptom experience. Clinicians frequently provide dietary advice to patients, although the evidence base of such suggestions or recommendations is not clear. PURPOSE This systematic review aimed to examine the current literature on food interventions associated with improvements in cancer treatment-related nausea and vomiting. METHODS Eight electronic databases were searched with a specific search term strategy covering trials without time or language limitations. Eligible studies focused on a food substance, defined as any nutritious substance that people eat or drink to maintain life and well-being. Trials in children and adults during chemotherapy or radiotherapy were included. Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess trial quality and GRADE was used to assess the certainty in the effect of each outcome. RESULTS Seventeen trials were included, 3 focusing on children and 14 on adults. Two trials included patients receiving radiation. Ten out of 17 trials (59%) had a high risk of bias. Strongest evidence with highest certainty was found for dietary counseling to meet macronutrient requirements in reducing incidence of radiotherapy-related nausea and vomiting in adults (n=2 studies; n=124 participants; GRADE level: moderate). There was also moderate certainty in the beneficial effect of protein supplementation on nausea and vomiting incidence in adults during radiotherapy (n=2 studies; n=124 participants; GRADE level: moderate). A significant positive effect on CINV incidence and/or severity in adults was also found for dietary counseling to meet macronutrient requirements during chemotherapy, a peppermint drink, scaly wood mushroom, chamomile, protein with ginger, and a colorless odorless diet (GRADE level: low to very low). CONCLUSIONS The review identified food-based approaches that could improve the nausea and vomiting experience in patients with cancer and provide guidance to clinicians. However, confidence in these findings was low and studies were heterogeneous and mostly of low quality, requiring further investigation before stronger recommendations can be made. Future research is needed to confirm efficacy and safety. TRIAL REGISTRATION PROSPERO CRD42022341154.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Among adults with cancer, malnutrition is associated with decreased treatment completion, more treatment harms and use of health care, and worse short-term survival. To inform the National Institutes of Health Pathways to Prevention workshop, "Nutrition as Prevention for Improved Cancer Health Outcomes," this systematic review examined the evidence for the effectiveness of providing nutrition interventions before or during cancer therapy to improve outcomes of cancer treatment. METHODS We identified randomized controlled trials enrolling at least 50 participants published from 2000 through July 2022. We provide a detailed evidence map for included studies and grouped studies by broad intervention and cancer types. We conducted risk of bias (RoB) and qualitative descriptions of outcomes for intervention and cancer types with a larger volume of literature. RESULTS From 9798 unique references, 206 randomized controlled trials from 219 publications met the inclusion criteria. Studies primarily focused on nonvitamin or mineral dietary supplements, nutrition support, and route or timing of inpatient nutrition interventions for gastrointestinal or head and neck cancers. Most studies evaluated changes in body weight or composition, adverse events from cancer treatment, length of hospital stay, or quality of life. Few studies were conducted within the United States. Among intervention and cancer types with a high volume of literature (n = 114), 49% (n = 56) were assessed as high RoB. Higher-quality studies (low or medium RoB) reported mixed results on the effect of nutrition interventions across cancer and treatment-related outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Methodological limitations of nutrition intervention studies surrounding cancer treatment impair translation of findings into clinical practice or guidelines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is one of the most distressing cancer treatment side effects, affecting 20-70% of patients despite routine antiemetic prescription. Although dietary modifications are routinely recommended in clinical practice, there is lack of data synthesis to determine which dietary strategies for managing CINV are supported by quality evidence. This systematic review was conducted to examine the effect of dietary strategies on incidence and severity of CINV in adults compared with no intervention, usual care, or alternative strategies. METHODS Five electronic databases were searched from inception to 15th July 2021 for original research studies of interventional or observational design assessing dietary strategies for CINV. The quality of evidence was appraised, data were synthesized narratively, and Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) assessment of the certainty of the evidence was applied. RESULTS Twenty-one studies were included, 10 (48%) interventional studies and 11 (52%) observational studies. Most interventional and observational studies had a high or neutral risk of bias (70% and 72%, respectively). Of the interventions studied, strongest evidence with highest certainty was found for the very large positive effect of CINV-specific education and support with a personalized meal plan from a dietician, implemented in person or in writing, for reducing the severity of nausea and overall CINV (effect size: very large; GRADE: high). A statistically significant very large positive effect of ginger tea consumption was also found on overall CINV severity; however, certainty in this effect was very low. Although confidence in the findings from observational studies was very low to low, a statistically significant positive association was also found between a moderate intake of alcohol and incidence of nausea, vomiting, or overall CINV as well as nausea severity; the Mediterranean diet and nausea incidence and severity; and adequate intake of energy, protein, fat, or carbohydrate and nausea or vomiting incidence. CONCLUSION Improved CINV was associated with CINV-specific nutrition education and support from health professionals. Non-restrictive dietary patterns that include adequate energy and macronutrient intakes, particularly protein, and include ginger, and Mediterranean diet concepts may benefit CINV; however, the confidence in the body of evidence to inform these conclusions is mostly very low to moderate. Future rigorous trials with adequate sample sizes, clearly defined dietary strategies, and valid outcome measures are warranted prior to dietary strategies being routinely prescribed alongside antiemetic regimens.

Abstract
Cancer development entangles with mutation and selection for cells that progressively increase capacity for proliferation and metastasis at the cellular level. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy are the standard treatments to manage several types of cancer. Chemotherapy is toxic for both normal and cancer cells and can induce unfavorable conditions, such as chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), that reduce patients' quality of life. Emesis after chemotherapy is categorized into two classes acute and delayed. Since ancient times, herbal medicines have been used in various cultures to manage stomachache, vomiting, and nausea. In this manuscript, the antiemetic mechanisms of several herbal medicines and their preparations such as Zingiber officinale (5-HT, NK-1 receptor and muscarinic antagonist activity), Mentha spicata (5-HT antagonist activity), Scutellaria baicalensis (antioxidant activity), Persumac (useful in delayed phase through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-contractile properties) and Rikkunshito (supportive in acute and delayed phase through 5-HT receptor antagonist activity) have been reviewed to show their potential effects on decreasing CINV and attract scientists attention to formulate more herbal medicine to alleviate CINV in cancer patients. However, it is crucial to say that additional high-quality investigations are required to firmly verify the clinical effectiveness and safety of each plant/compound.

Abstract
Phytonutrients comprise many different chemicals, including carotenoids, indoles, glucosinolates, organosulfur compounds, phytosterols, polyphenols, and saponins. This review focuses on the human healthcare benefits of seven phytochemical families and highlights the significant potential contribution of phytonutrients in the prevention and management of pathologies and symptoms in the field of family health. The structure and function of these phytochemical families and their dietary sources are presented, along with an overview of their potential activities across different health and therapeutic targets. This evaluation has enabled complementary effects of the different families of phytonutrients in the same area of health to be recognized.

Abstract
Natural flavonoids are the most plentiful form of polyphenols. Given the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of flavonoids, researchers discovered that it might be effective in treating depression and anxiety. The effect of flavonoids on depression and anxiety was investigated by a meta-analysis and systematic review. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Medline databases up to October 15, 2021. We selected 11 studies, among them, 10 studies were chosen to evaluate the depression effects of flavonoids and 7 studies were used to assess anxiety disorder. The meta-analysis showed that flavonoids have an overall significant effect on depression (p = 0.004, Hedge's g = -0.487, 95% CI -0.814 to -0.160) and anxiety (p = 0.006, Hedge's g = -0.741, 95% CI -1.266 to -0.217). Subgroup analysis indicated that the symptoms of depression were significantly improved in the studies when the dose of flavonoids was 50-100mg/day or the treatment duration was ≥8weeks. Anxiety symptoms were improved in the studies with the dose of flavonoids was ≥50mg/day. There was no evidence of publication bias. Our findings suggest that flavonoids might improve symptoms of depression and anxiety. However, a small number of participants and studies were included in this meta-analysis. Therefore, the results should be interpreted with caution.

Abstract
AIM Conduct a systematic review of available evidence on food and beverage intake during cancer treatment. OBJECTIVE Determine what food or beverages consumed during cancer treatment might prevent recurrence, subsequent malignancies, treatment-related toxicity, or death. BACKGROUND Food and beverage intake, as well as weight status, can integrate with cancer treatment to mitigate treatment-related toxicities, support treatment success, and prevent recurrence. Yet, evidence-based recommendations are lacking. METHODS We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochran for research studies conducted within the last 10 years on food and beverage consumption during cancer treatment, with no restrictions on age or cancer type. Two reviewers independently extracted information on intervention type, diet, and outcomes; these data were confirmed by a third reviewer. RESULTS Nineteen studies were selected from 1551 potential studies. Nine were randomized controlled trials, analyzing high protein diets, short-term fasting, low-fat diets, FODMAP diet, or comparing consumption of 1 specific food or nutrient, including Concord grape juice, onions, and fiber. The remaining 10 studies were observational or retrospective and tracked treatment symptoms, general dietary intake, or weight status as well as consumption of specific foods including nuts, coffee, sugar-sweetened beverages. CONCLUSIONS Available evidence suggests food can be effective at ameliorating cancer treatment-related toxicities and improving prognosis, but more research is needed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the electronic anti-nausea instrument (EANI) combined with hydrochloride palonosetron for prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting following highly emetogenic chemotherapy. METHODS Patients who received highly emetogenic chemotherapy were randomly assigned to a treatment group (60 patients) treated with EANI combined with hydrochloride palonosetron, and control group (also 60 patients) given only hydrochloride palonosetron. Chemotherapy related nausea and vomiting were observed and recorded in both groups of patients from the start till the end of chemotherapy. RESULTS Complete control rates of vomiting in treatment and control group were 40%, and 35%, respectively, without any statistical ly significant difference (p> 0.05); however the response rates are 95.0%, 78.3%, respectively, with statistical difference (p< 0.05). Complete control rates of nausea in treatment and control group were 36.7%, 30%, respectively, without statistical difference (p> 0.05); but the response rates are 90.0%, 76.7%, respectively, with statistical difference (p<0.05). CONCLUSION EANI combined with hydrochloride palonosetron for prevention of nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy could be more effective than hydrochloride palonosetron alone, and can be recommended for use in prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting following highly emetogenic chemotherapy.

Abstract
In order to present the state of the science of hostility among and across disciplines, a review of the literature was completed. The knowledge gained may influence nursing practice. Scholarly works from nursing, medical and basic sciences, psychology, sociology, education, philosophy, business, communication, and criminology were reviewed. Similar patterns in the use of the concept were discovered. The patterns revealed five themes: hostility as a health-risk factor, hostility as a factor in family relationships, hostility as a factor in perceived challenge, hostility as a factor in criminal behavior, and hostility as a factor in the workplace. Based on the knowledge gained about hostility, implications for nursing practice related to changing the hostile working environment for nurses were suggested using modeling and role-modeling nursing theory.
