Thermal and Coherent Spin Pumping by Noncollinear Antiferromagnets

Antiferromagnets attract much interest because of their potential for spintronic applications and open fundamental physics questions, but especially noncollinear antiferromagnets remain relatively unexplored. Here, we formulate the thermal and coherent pumping of spins in noncollinear antiferromagnets|normal metal bilayers. We find that the spin current polarization is a vector with components along both the Néel vector and net magnetic moment. The spin mixing conductance for the coherent spin pumping is a tensor with elements depending on the degree of noncollinearity and interface spin configuration. We explain the controversial sign problem of the antiferromagnetic spin Seebeck effect by interface effects and suggest that interface engineering may enhance the spin pumping efficiency.

Theroy of magnetic inertial dynamics in two-sublattice ferromagnets

The magnetic inertial dynamics have previously been investigated for one sublattice ferromagnets. Here, we develop the magnetization dynamics in two-sublattice ferromagnets including the intra- and inter-sublattice inertial dynamics. First, we derive the magnetic susceptibility of such a ferromagnet. Next, by finding the poles of the susceptibility, we calculate the precession and nutation resonance frequencies. Our results suggest that while the resonance frequencies show decreasing behavior with the increasing intra-sublattice relaxation time, the effect of inter-sublattice inertial dynamics has an opposite effect.

Prediction of Attractive Level Crossing via a Dissipative Mode

The new field of spin cavitronics focuses on the interaction between the magnon excitation of a magnetic element and the electromagnetic wave in a microwave cavity. In the strong interaction regime, such an interaction usually gives rise to the level anticrossing for the magnonic and the electromagnetic mode. Recently, the attractive level crossing has been observed, and it is explained by a non-Hermitian model Hamiltonian. However, the mechanism of such attractive coupling is still unclear. We reveal the secret by using a simple model with two harmonic oscillators coupled to a third oscillator with large dissipation. We further identify this dissipative third party as the invisible cavity mode with large leakage in cavity-magnon experiments. This understanding enables one to design dissipative coupling in all sorts of coupled systems.
