Abstract
In this paper, we highlight the synthesis of a variety of primary phosphine-boranes (RPH2 ⋅BH3 ) from the corresponding dichlorophosphines, simply by using Li[BH4 ] as reductant and provider of the BH3 protecting group. The method offers facile access not only to alkyl- and arylphosphine-boranes, but also to aminophosphine-boranes (R2 NPH2 ⋅BH3 ) that are convenient building blocks but without the protecting BH3 moiety thermally labile and notoriously difficult to handle. The borane-protected primary phosphines can be doubly deprotonated using n-butyllithium to provide soluble phosphanediides Li2 [RP⋅BH3 ] of which the phenyl-derivative Li2 [PhP⋅BH3 ] was structurally characterized in the solid state.

Abstract
The application of the bidentate, electron-rich bisphosphine ligand, 1,3-bis(dicyclohexyl)phosphine-propane (dcpp), in rhodium(I)-catalyzed intermolecular ketone hydroacylation is herein described. Isatins and α-keto amides are shown to undergo hydroacylation with a variety of non-chelating linear and branched aliphatic aldehydes. Also reported is the synthesis of new bidentate chiral phosphine ligands, and their application in hydroacylation is discussed.

Abstract
Access to P-chiral H-phosphinates via desymmetrization of hypophosphite esters was investigated. The use of chiral auxiliaries, chiral catalysts, and of a bulky prochiral group that could lead to kinetic resolution was explored. A chiral NMR assay for enantiomeric excess determination of H-phosphinates was developed. An asymmetric route to C-chiral H-phosphinates is also examined and an assay was developed.

Abstract
The series of phosphine-borane adducts, Ph2(H3C--C[triple chemical bond]C)P--B(C6F5)3 (8 c), Ph(H3C--C[triple chemical bond]C)2P--B(C6F5)3 (8 b) and (H3C--C[triple chemical bond]C)3P--B(C6F5)3 (8 a), was prepared. The X-ray crystal structure analyses revealed close to eclipsed conformations for all members of this series with average dihedral angles theta(C-P-B-C) of 8.1 degrees (8 c), 12.3 degrees (8 b) and 20.3 degrees (8 a). Quantum chemical analysis of these compounds revealed the importance of a subtle interplay between competing attractive and repulsive secondary interactions, causing the surprising eclipsed conformational preference for systems of this degree of complexity. Some cyclic phosphine-borane adducts were studied for comparison.
