Abstract
A Surface OrganoMetallic Chemistry (SOMC) approach is used to prepare a novel hafnium-iridium catalyst immobilized on silica, HfIr/SiO2, featuring well-defined [≡SiOHf(CH2 tBu)2(μ-H)3IrCp*] surface sites. Unlike the monometallic analogous materials Hf/SiO2 and Ir/SiO2, which promote n-pentane deuterogenolysis through C-C bond scission, we demonstrate that under the same experimental conditions (1 bar D2, 250 °C, 3 h, 0.5 mol %), the heterobimetallic catalyst HfIr/SiO2 is highly efficient and selective for the perdeuteration of alkanes with D2, exemplified on n-pentane, without substantial deuterogenolysis (<2 % at 95 % conversion). Furthermore this HfIr/SiO2 catalyst is robust and can be re-used several times without evidence of decomposition. This represents substantial advance in catalytic H/D isotope exchange (HIE) reactions of C(sp3)-H bonds.

Abstract
In this work, we fabricated four different Ga2O3 polymorphs, namely, α-, β-, γ-, δ-Ga2O3, and investigated their photocatalytic activities by the degradation of ethylene under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. Owing to the more positive valence band, all these Ga2O3 polymorphs are more photocatalytic reactive than P25 during the degradation of ethylene. The normalized photocatalytic ethylene degradation rate constants of the as-prepared Ga2O3 polymorphs follow the order: α-Ga2O3 > β-Ga2O3 > γ-Ga2O3 > δ-Ga2O3, which is mainly determined by the position of VBM and the crystallinity of the samples. Among these Ga2O3 polymorphs, γ-Ga2O3, with the highest surface area, exhibits the highest activity during photocatalytic ethylene degradation, and the degradation rate constant is almost 10 times as that of P25. Furthermore, with the most positive CBM, γ-Ga2O3 produces the least CO. These attributes are beneficial for ethylene degradation during post-harvest storage of fruits and vegetables, which makes γ-Ga2O3 a potential candidate for practical photocatalytic ethylene degradations.

Abstract
Bench-stable complexes of the type [Ir(COD)(NHC)Cl] (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) have been investigated within the field of hydrogen isotope exchange. By employing a sterically encumbered NHC within such complexes and catalyst loadings of only 5 mol%, moderate to high deuterium incorporations were achieved across a range of aromatic ketones and nitrogen-based heterocycles. The simple and synthetically accessible catalysts reported herein present alternatives to phosphine-based species and increase the available labelling systems with respect to established iridium-based isotope exchange methodologies.

Abstract
Deuterium exchange of a carboxy group was achieved by photochemical decarboxylation of free carboxylic acids in the presence of thiol and a small amount of D(2)O, and a deuterated product with excellent deuterium content was obtained; this reaction is a practical means of synthesizing regioselective deuterium-labelled compounds under mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
The Pd/C-catalyzed efficient and regioselective hydrogen-deuterium (H-D) exchange reaction on the benzylic site proceeded in D2O in the presence of a small amount of H2 gas. The use of the Pd/C-ethylenediamine complex [Pd/C(en)] as a catalyst instead of Pd/C led to the efficient deuterium incorporation into the benzylic site of O-benzyl protective groups without hydrogenolysis. These H-D exchange reactions provide a post synthetic and D(2)-gas-free deuterium-labeling method on a wide variety of benzylic sites using D2O as the deuterium source and heterogeneous Pd/C or Pd/C(en) as a reusable heterogeneous palladium catalyst under mild and neutral conditions.

Abstract
The increasing demand for stable isotopically labeled compounds has led to an increased interest in H/D-exchange reactions at carbon centers. Today deuterium-labeled compounds are used as internal standards in mass spectrometry or to help elucidate mechanistic theories. Access to these deuterated compounds takes place significantly more efficiently and more cost effectively by exchange of hydrogen by deuterium in the target molecule than by classical synthesis. This Review will concentrate on the preparative application of the H/D-exchange reaction in the preparation of deuterium-labeled compounds. Advances over the last ten years are brought together and critically evaluated.

Abstract
A method for efficient and extensive H/D exchange of substituted benzene derivatives which is catalyzed by heterogeneous Pd/C in D(2)O as a deuterium source under hydrogen atmosphere is described. Multi-deuterium incorporation into unactivated linear or branched alkyl chains that bear a carboxyl, hydroxyl, ether, ester, or amide moiety and are connected with a benzene ring was achieved by using the Pd/C-H(2)-D(2)O system. The present method does not require expensive deuterium gas or any special equipment.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] Decarboxylation of free carboxylic acid was performed by Pd/C catalyst under hydrothermal water (250 degrees C/4 MPa). Under the hydrothermal conditions of deuterium oxide, decarbonylative deuteration was observed to give fully deuterated hydrocarbons from carboxylic acids or aldehydes.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] Arylsilanes were regioselectively labeled with deuterium by treatment with platinum(IV) oxide and deuterium oxide under hydrothermal conditions. Arylsilanols were also labeled with regioselectively under the same conditions.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] An efficient and extensive deuterium incorporation using heterogeneous Pd/C-D(2)O-H(2) system into many different types of unactivated C-H bond positions was developed. The present method provides a deuterium gas-free, totally catalytic, and post-synthetic deuterium labeling method in D(2)O media.
