Abstract
A Ca-catalyzed, tetrasubstituted alkenyl-sulfenylation was achieved using readily available aryl/alkyl thiols and easily prepared oxindole-derived propargyl alcohols under solvent-free conditions. The reaction proceeded with hydrogen bonding assisted regioselective α-thiolation and subsequent calcium catalyzed stereoselective alkenylation to yield E-alkenyl thioethers with high diastereoselectivity.

Abstract
Multicomponent polymerizations (MCPs) as a burgeoning field in polymer chemistry has proved to be a powerful and popular tool for the synthesis of functional polymer materials with diverse and complex structures. To explore the general applicability of MCPs and enrich the product structures of MCPs, multicomponent tandem polymerizations (MCTPs) with great synthetic simplicity and efficiency were pursued. In this work, MCTPs of N-(2-iodophenyl)-3-phenyl-N-tosylpropiolamide, aromatic terminal alkynes, and diamines were explored through combining Sonogashira coupling and Michael addition reaction in a one-pot procedure. The MCTPs could proceed efficiently and conveniently under mild conditions with Pd(PPh3)2Cl2, CuI, and i-Pr2NEt, affording 12 poly(indolone)s with unique structures and high Mws (up to 30400 g/mol) in high yields (up to 97%). The poly(indolone)s possess a unique acid-triggered fluorescence "turn-on" response which could realize specific detection of CF3SO3H from other inorganic and organic acids through a rapid acid-catalyzed reaction from enamine to ketone.

Abstract
Alkylidene oxindoles are important functional moieties and building blocks in pharmaceutical and synthetic chemistry. Our interest in biologically active compounds focused our studies on the synthesis of novel oxindoles, bearing on the exocyclic double bond at the C8, CN, and S groups. Extending the potential applications of Appel’s salt, we developed a new synthetic approach by investigating the reactions of C5-substituted 2-oxindoles with 4,5-dichloro-1,2,3-dithiazolium chloride (Appel’s salt) to give original (Z)-3-(4-chloro-5H-1,2,3-dithiazol-5-ylidene)indolin-2-one derivatives, and new 2-mercapto-(2-oxoindolin-3-ylidene)acetonitriles via a dithiazole ring-opening reaction. The work described in this article represents further applications of Appel’s salt in the conception of novel heterocyclic rings, in an effort to access original bioactive compounds. Fifteen new compounds were prepared and fully characterized.
