Abstract
A new class of compounds, which include s-triazine with pyrimidinetrione or thiopyrimidinedione moiety through a hydrazone linkage, were synthesized and characterized. The newly synthesized s-triazine hydrazone derivatives were evaluated in vitro against four cancer cell lines: A549, HepG2, HCT-116, and MCF-7. Several derivatives showed growth inhibition activity in the low microgram range. The results reveal that the barbiturate derivatives showed poor to no activity, while thiobarbiturate derivatives showed better activity than the analogues barbiturate derivatives. The substituents on the s-triazine moiety have a great effect on the antiproliferative activity, where derivatives with the piperidino and diethylamino on the s-triazine ring (5h) showed the highest activity against all of the tested cell lines (IC50 1.6 ± 0.6, 3.8 ± 0.3, 1.9 ± 0.4, and 1.2± 0.5 μg/mL for the tested cell lines A549, HepG2, HCT-116, and MCF-7, respectively). These results indicate that thiobarbiturates-s-triazine hydrazone derivatives may provide an excellent scaffold for the development of an anticancer drug candidate.

Abstract
An economical and proficient approach has been developed for the synthesis of chromenopyrimidines via three-component reaction of thiobarbituric acid/barbituric acid, methylarenes and dimedone/1,3-cyclohexanedione by using lemon juice as a natural, biodegradable catalyst and TBHP as an oxidant. This transformation involves metal-free C-C bond formation via C-H activation of methylarenes under mild reaction conditions.

Amino acids and peptides as reactants in multicomponent reactions: modification of peptides with heterocycle backbones through combinatorial chemistry. Mol Divers 2018; 23:317-331. Abstract
In this study, amino acids and peptides were used as reactants in a Hantzsch multicomponent reaction in order to synthesize new structurally diverse molecules containing these synthons. As well, an applicable strategy for modification of these natural molecules with heterocycle backbones such as pyrimidine, xanthene and acridine is introduced. Using this method, a set of new amino acid- and peptide-functionalized heterocycles were synthesized in good to excellent yields under mild conditions. Furthermore, carbohydrates were used as substrates in the synthesis of some derivatives. Overall, this methodology allows the possibility of synthesis of large numbers of natural product-based libraries, using amino acids, peptides and carbohydrates through combinatorial chemistry.

Abstract
A one-pot reaction was described that results in various pyrazole-thiobarbituric acid derivatives as new pharmacophore agents. These new heterocycles were synthesized in high yields with a broad substrate scope under mild reaction conditions in water mediated by NHEt2. The molecular structures of the synthesized compounds were assigned based on different spectroscopic techniques. The new compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. Compounds 4h and 4l were the most active compounds against C. albicans with MIC = 4 µg/L. Compound 4c exhibited the best activity against S. aureus and E. faecalis with MIC = 16 µg/L. However, compounds 4l and 4o were the most active against B. subtilis with MIC = 16 µg/L. Molecular docking studies for the final compounds and standard drugs were performed using the OpenEye program.

Abstract
Dodecyl benzenesulfonic acid functionalized silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles (γ-Fe2O3@SiO2-DDBSA) were readily prepared and identified as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of a library of spirooxindole-pyrimidine derivatives by three-component condensation reaction of barbituric acids, isatins and cyclohexane-1,3-diones. The aqueous reaction medium, easy recovery of the catalyst using an external magnet, and high yields make the protocol sustainable and economic.
