Abstract
Background Extracorporeal left ventricular assist device is often required for acute myocardial infarction patients in cardiogenic shock when temporary mechanical circulatory support fails to provide hemodynamic stabilization. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of acute myocardial infarction patients in cardiogenic shock supported by an extracorporeal left ventricular assist device. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 13 acute myocardial infarction patients in cardiogenic shock treated with an extracorporeal left ventricular assist device from April 2011 to July 2020. Results Twelve (92.3%) and eleven (84.6%) patients were supported using venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and intra-aortic balloon pumping before implantation, respectively. The median duration from acute myocardial infarction to extracorporeal left ventricular assist device implantation was 7 (3.5–24.5) days. The overall in-hospital mortality rate was 30.8% (n = 4). Extracorporeal left ventricular assist device was explanted in one patient for cardiac recovery; eight (61.5%) patients were approved as heart transplant candidates in whom the extracorporeal left ventricular assist device was exchanged for a durable left ventricular assist device; two (15.4%) expired while waiting for a heart transplant, and two (15.4%) received a successful transplant. The 1- and 3-year overall survival rates after extracorporeal left ventricular assist device implantation were 68.3% and 49.9%, respectively. Conclusions The operative mortality after extracorporeal left ventricular assist device implantation in acute myocardial infarction patients in cardiogenic shock was favorable. Our strategy of early hemodynamic stabilization with extracorporeal left ventricular assist device implantation in these patients as a bridge-to-bridge therapy was effective in achieving better survival.

Abstract
The current status of the research of Ballistocardiography (BCG) and Seismocardiogram (SCG) in the field of medical treatment, health care and nursing was analyzed systematically, and the important direction in the research was explored, to provide reference for the relevant researches. This study, based on two large databases, CNKI and PubMed, used the bibliometric analysis method to review the existing documents in the past 20 years, and made analyses on the literature of BCG and SCG for their annual changes, main countries/regions, types of research, frequently-used subject words, and important research subjects. The results show that the developed countries have taken a leading position in the researches in this field, and have made breakthroughs in some subjects, but their research results have been mainly gained in the area of research and development of the technologies, and very few have been actually industrialized into commodities. This means that in the future the researchers should focus on the transformation of BCG and SCG technologies into commercialized products, and set up quantitative health assessment models, so as to become the daily tools for people to monitor their health status and manage their own health, and as the main approaches of improving the quality of life and preventing diseases for individuals.

Abstract
The C-Pulse is a novel extra-aortic counter-pulsation device to unload the heart in patients with heart failure. Its impact on overall hemodynamics, however, is not fully understood. In this study, the function of the C-Pulse heart assist system is implemented in a one-dimensional (1-D) model of the arterial tree, and central and peripheral pressure and flow waveforms with the C-Pulse turned on and off were simulated. The results were studied using wave intensity analysis and compared with in vivo data measured non-invasively in three patients with heart failure and with invasive data measured in a large animal (pig). In all cases the activation of the C-Pulse was discernible by the presence of a diastolic augmentation in the pressure and flow waveforms. Activation of the device initiates a forward traveling compression wave, whereas a forward traveling expansion wave is associated to the device relaxation, with waves exerting an action in the coronary and the carotid vascular beds. We also found that the stiffness of the arterial tree is an important determinant of action of the device. In settings with reduced arterial compliance, the same level of aortic compression demands higher values of external pressure, leading to stronger hemodynamic effects and enhanced perfusion. We conclude that the 1-D model may be used as an efficient tool for predicting the hemodynamic impact of the C-Pulse system in the entire arterial tree, complementing in vivo observations.
