Abstract
We synthesized a new poly(triphenylamine), having a hyperbranched structure, and employed it in lithium-ion batteries as an organic cathode material. Two types of monomers were prepared with hydroxyl groups and nitro leaving groups, activated by a trifluoromethyl substituent, and then polymerized via the nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction. The reactivity of the monomers differed depending on the number of hydroxyl groups and the A2B type monomer with one hydroxyl group successfully produced poly(triphenylamine). Based on thermal, optical, and electrochemical analyses, a composite poly(triphenylamine) electrode was made. The electrochemical performance investigations confirmed that the lithium-ion batteries, fabricated with the poly(triphenylamine)-based cathodes, had reasonable specific capacity values and stable cycling performance, suggesting the potential of this hyperbranched polymer in cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract
Ring substitution reactions of nitroarenes remain an under-developed area of organic synthesis, confined to the narrow domains of SNAr and SNArH reactions. While searching for alternative methodologies, we took stock of the C-H activation reactions of nitroarenes which unearthed a variety of examples of nitro directed regioselective C-H functionalization reactions such as ortho-arylation, -benzylation/alkylation, and -allylation, oxidative Heck and C-H arylation reactions on (hetero)aromatic rings. A collective account of these reactions is presented in this review to showcase the existing landscape of C-H activation reactions of nitroarenes, to create interest in this field for further development and propagate this strategy as a superior alternative for ring substitution reactions of nitroarenes. The prospect of merging the C-H activation of nitroarenes with C-NO2 activation, thereby harnessing NO2 as a transformable multitasking directing group, is also illustrated.

Abstract
Several drugs have been prepared to treat of heart failure using some protocols which require dangerous reagents and specific conditions. The aim of this study was to synthesize a series of steroid derivatives (compounds 2 to 18) using some chemical strategies. The biological activity of steroid derivatives against heart failure was evaluated using an ischemia/reperfusion model. In addition, the effect exerted by compounds 4 or 5 on left ventricular pressure was evaluated in the absence or presence of yohimbine, butaxamine and methoctramine. The results showed that 1) both compounds 4 or 5 significantly decrease the heart failure (translated as infarct area) compared with the compounds 2, 3 and 6-18. In addition, the compound 4 and 5 decreased the left ventricular pressure in a dose-dependent manner and this effect was significantly inhibited in the presence of methoctramine (p = 005). In conclusion, the compounds 4 or 5 decrease both the infarct area and left ventricular pressure via M2-muscarinic receptor activation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is some experimental data on the effect exerted by some steroid derivatives against ischemia/reperfusion injury; however, the molecular mechanism is very confusing, perhaps this phenomenon could be due to the protocols used and/or differences in the chemical structure of each one of the steroid derivatives. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to synthesize a new bis-steroid-methanocyclobutanaphthalene- dione derivative using some tools chemical. METHODOLOGY The biological activity exerted by the bis-steroid-methanocyclobutanaphthalene- dione derivative against ischemia/reperfusion injury was evaluated in an isolated heart model using noradrenaline, milrinone, dobutamine, levosimendan, and Bay-K- 8644 as controls. In addition, other alternative experiments were carried out to evaluate the biological activity induced by the bis-steroid-methanocyclobuta-naphthalene-dione derivative against left ventricular pressure in the absence or presence of nifedipine. RESULTS The results showed that 1) the bis-steroid-methanocyclobuta-naphthalene-dione derivative significantly decreases the ischemia-reperfusion injury translated as a decrease in the the infarct area in a similar manner to levosimendan drug; 2) both bis-steroidmethanocyclobuta- naphthalene-dione and Bay-K-8644 increase the left ventricular pressure and 3) the biological activity exerted by bis-steroid-methanocyclobuta-naphthalenedione derivative against left ventricular pressure is inhibited by nifedipine. CONCLUSION In conclusion, the bis-steroid-methanocyclobuta-naphthalene-dione derivative decreases the area of infarction and increases left ventricle pressure via calcium channels activation; this phenomenon could constitute a new therapy for ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to evaluate the positive inotropic effect of a new macrocyclic derivative (compound 11) and characterize the molecular mechanism involved in its biological activity. The first step was achieved by synthesis of a macrocyclic derivative involving a series of reactions for the preparation of several steroid derivatives such as (a) steroid-pyrimidinone (3 and 4), (b) steroid-amino (5), (c) steroid-imino (6), (d) ester-steroid (7 and 8), and (e) amido-steroid (9 and 10). Finally, 11 was prepared by removing the tert-butyldimethylsilane fragment of 10. The biological activity of compounds on perfusion pressure and vascular resistance was evaluated on isolated rat heart using the Langendorff model. The inotropic activity of 11 was evaluated in presence of prazosin, metoprolol, indomethacin, nifedipine, and flutamide to characterize its molecular mechanism. Theoretical experiments were carried out with a Docking model, to assess potential interactions of androgen receptor with 11. The results showed that only this macrocyclic derivative exerts changes on perfusion pressure and vascular resistance translated as the positive inotropic effect, and this effect was blocked with flutamide; these data indicate that the positive inotropic activity induced by this macrocyclic derivative was via androgen receptor activation. The theoretical results indicated that the interaction of the macrocyclic derivative with the androgen receptor involves several amino acid residues such as Leu704, Asn705, Met780, Cys784, Met749, Leu762, Phe764, Ser778, and Met787. In conclusion, all these data suggest that the positive inotropic activity of the macrocyclic derivative may depend on its chemical structure.

Abstract
Novel optically transparent and organosoluble poly(ether imide)s (PEIs) were prepared from 4,4′-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)-3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbiphenyl dianhydride and various fluorinated bis(ether amine)s via chemical or thermal imidization. The effects of fluorinated groups and the imidization method on the properties of PEIs were investigated. Fluorinated PEIs prepared by the chemical imidization method exhibited essentially colorless characteristic with cutoff wavelengths lower than 380 nm, and yellowness index (b* values) ranging from 5.2 to 7.3, which are close to that of transparent polyarylate polymer (b* = 3.3). In addition, all fluorinated PEIs showed excellent solubility in common organic solvents. The thermal decomposition temperature at 10% weight loss is higher than 490°C, and the glass transition temperatures are in the range of 245–315°C. The fluorinated PEI series also exhibited low dielectric constants of 2.95–3.29 (1 MHz) and low moisture absorption in the range of 0.17–0.86 wt%, which are lower than the analogous nonfluorinated series.

Abstract
An aromatic diamine with a preformed oxadiazole ring and various dianhydrides with ether and other flexible or bulky groups, such as isopropylidene, hexafluoroisopropylidene, cyclohexylidene or fluorenylidene, were used in a polycondensation reaction at high temperature to produce poly(oxadiazole-ether-imide)s. The properties of these polymers such as solubility, film-forming ability, thermal stability and photoluminescence were studied and compared with those of related conventional aromatic polyimides. The mechanical properties of the free-standing films obtained from these polyimides were also investigated.

Abstract
Aromatic polyethers containing phenyl sulfone side groups were prepared using aromatic nucleophilic nitrosubstitution reaction. As starting compounds TNT-derived 3,5-dinitrodiphenyl sulfone and 4,4′-bis-[(3-nitro-5-phenylsulfonyl)phenylsulfonyl]diphenyl sulfone containing functional nitro groups activated with electron-withdrawing phenylsulfone meta-substituents were used. Polymers obtained are soluble in wide range of organic solvents and demonstrate large ‘windows’ between their softening and degradation temperatures.

Abstract
New sulfonated and non-sulfonated monomers — dinitro and diamino compounds — were prepared on the basis of 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (TNB) which is the demethylation product of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). The sulfonated dinitrocompounds interacted with different binuclear bis-phenols under the conditions of aromatic nucleophilic nitrodisplacement reactions. Polyethers of moderate molecular weights were prepared on the basis of dinitrocompound containing electron-withdrawing 3,5-dinitrodiphenyl sulfone-4′-sulfonic acid “bridging” groups. Copolymers and blends with other sulfonated polymers were prepared to improve the film-forming properties of the polyethers developed on the basis of 3,5-dinitrodiphenyl sulfone-4′-sulfonic acid. High molecular weight sulfonated polynaphthylimides were prepared by the interaction of sulfonated diamine containing electron-donating ether group — 3,5-diaminodiphenyl ether-4′-sulfonic acid — with bis(naphthalic anhydride)s. The sulfonated polyethers and polynaphthylimides thus obtained contain sulfonic acid groups in the side chains.
