Abstract
BACKGROUND Eighty percent of stroke patients develop upper limb dysfunction, especially hand dysfunction, which has a very slow recovery, resulting in economic burden to families and society. AIM To investigate the impact of task-oriented training based on acupuncture therapy on upper extremity function in patients with early stroke. METHODS Patients with early stroke hemiplegia who visited our hospital between January 2021 and October 2022 were divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 50 cases. The control group underwent head acupuncture plus routine upper limb rehabilitation training (acupuncture therapy). In addition to acupuncture and rehabilitation, the observation group underwent upper limb task-oriented training (30 min). Each group underwent treatment 5 d/wk for 4 wk. Upper extremity function was assessed in both groups using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremity (FMA-UE), Wolf Motor Function Rating Scale (WMFT), modified Barthel Index (MBI), and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Quality of life was evaluated using the Short-Form 36-Item Health Survey (SF-36). Clinical efficacy of the interventions was also evaluated. RESULTS Before intervention, no significant differences were observed in the FMA-UE, MBI, and WMFT scores between the two groups (P > 0.05). After intervention, the FMA-UE, WMFT, MBI, COPM-Functional Mobility and Satisfaction, and SF-36 scores increased in both groups (P < 0.05), with even higher scores in the observation group (P < 0.05). The observation group also obtained a higher total effective rate than the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Task-oriented training based on acupuncture rehabilitation significantly enhanced upper extremity mobility, quality of life, and clinical efficacy in patients with early stroke.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this meta-analysis was to systematically evaluate the effects of whole-body vibration training (WBVT) on the recovery of lower limb function in people with stroke. METHODS The literature search was made in the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Embase electronic databases. Only randomized controlled trials were included. Data extraction, quality assessment and meta-analysis were performed. The search was conducted on September 01, 2022. The data analysis software was RevMan 5.3. RESULTS A total of 13 RCTs were included, including 687 patients. The results showed that compared with the control group, the overall difference in balance function was statistically significant [MD = 4.23, 95% CI 2.21 ∼ 6.26, p < 0.0001]. There was no significant difference in the evaluation indexes of lower limb motor function, including the TUG, 10MWT, 6MWT, and FMA - LE. The overall difference in lower limb muscle spasticity was statistically significant [MD = -0.53, 95% CI -0.81 ∼ 0.26, p = 0.0001]. CONCLUSIONS Compared with the control group, using WBVT treatment has a more obvious effect on the recovery of lower limb function and muscle spasticity, and there is no obvious advantage in motor function recovery.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThis Systematic Review and meta-analysis of evidence suggest that whole-body vibration training is effective in the rehabilitation of lower limb function in patients with stroke.Whole body vibration training may be a better choice for improving balance and spasm in people with stroke.Currently it is not known which whole-body vibration training model with vibration intensity, stimulus type and duration is most effective and to design more targeted interventions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hemiparetic gait is one of the most common sequelae of a stroke. Acupuncture has shown potential in correcting hemiplegic gait patterns and improving motor function recovery after stroke. However, controversial findings and a lack of supportive evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture for post-stroke hemiplegia. The intelligent gait analysis system provides a new perspective for the study of hemiparetic gait. This systematic review aims to collect relevant studies and critically evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in alleviating gait disturbance of post-stroke hemiplegia based on quantified gait parameters. METHODS AND ANALYSIS A comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane stroke group trials register, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, CINAHL, AMED, three Chinese databases (Chinese Biomedical Literatures database (CBM), National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wan fang Digital Periodicals), four trails registries (The WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, The Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, The US National Institutes of Health Ongoing Trials Register, and The Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry) will be conducted to identify randomised controlled trials of acupuncture for gait disturbance in post-stroke patients. No restrictions on language or publication status. The primary outcomes are gait temporospatial parameters (eg, step length, stride length, step width, step frequency (cadence), walking speed, etc), and gait kinematic parameters (eg, hip peak flex/extend angle, knee peak flex/extend angle, ankle peak dorsi/plantar-flexion angle, etc). We will assess bias using the approach recommended by the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. A meta-analysis will be conducted to synthesise the evidence for each outcome measure. The χ2 test and I2 statistic will be used for assessing heterogeneity between studies. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION No ethical approval is needed because no primary data is collected. Scientific conferences or peer-reviewed journals will publish the findings. Abstract
Objective To analyze the correlation between balance function and gait parameters of patients with basal ganglia infarction. And to observe the influence of balance function on plantar pressure and hemiplegia gait based on the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) score. Methods One hundred and forty patients with cerebral infarction hemiplegia in the basal ganglia region (a study group, n = 140) and healthy people (a control group, n = 140) were enrolled. The study group was evaluated with the BBS, the 10 m walking test (10MWT), and the timed up-and-go test (TUGT). The gait parameters and the peak plantar pressure were measured in both groups while walking, and the differences between the groups were compared. In addition, the characteristics of the plantar pressure curve of the hemiplegic and non-hemiplegic sides during walking and the correlation between the 10MWT, the TUGT, the plantar pressure peak, the gait parameters,and the BBS score were analyzed in the study group. Results The peak plantar pressure of the forefoot and heel, stride length, lateral symmetry, stand phase, swing phase, and dual stand phase of both sides in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The BBS score negatively correlated with the 10MWT, the TUGT, the peak plantar pressure of the hemiplegic forefoot, midfoot, and the non-hemiplegic midfoot, the anterior to posterior position (ant/post position), hemiplegic stand phase, and the dual stand phase (P < 0.05). The BBS score positively correlated with the hemiplegic swing phase and stride length (P < 0.05). Conclusion A correlation was found between the forefoot plantar pressure and the stand phase of the hemiplegic limbs, the ant/post position, and the balance function after basal ganglion cerebral infarction. This association can be used in walking and balance assessment for stroke rehabilitation. Correcting forefoot pressure or the front and ant/post position can improve balance function.

Abstract
As a frequent disease affecting the nervous system, cerebral infarction has emerged as a major cause of disability and elicits disorders in motor, sensation, and cognition as sequelae. No clear mechanism has been known in meridian massage despite it having been proved to be an effective therapeutic option. The study was carried out to explore the treatment of meridian massage on cerebral ischemia in rats and its effects on motor function restoration and nerve cell’s ultrastructure in the ischemic territory. The alleviated nerve damages and recovered injured brain tissues were found in the cerebral infarction model of SD rats after meridian massage. Expressions of miR-206 and the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the gastrocnemius muscle were all well observed. The effects of miR-206 on BDNF were testified by overexpressed and interfered miR-206 in the C2C12 myoblast. Moreover, at the molecular level, meridian massage downregulated miR-206 expression at an elevated level of BDNF. Consequently, meridian massage exerts a vital role in promoting cerebral ischemia restoration, which is expected to provide an addition to the application of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the reconstruction and treatment of cerebral ischemia.

Abstract
Traditional acupuncture and electroacupuncture (EA) have been widely performed to treat ischemic stroke. To provide experimental support for the clinical application of acupuncture to ameliorate post-stroke sequelae, in this study, we investigated the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and EA on CIRI following middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats. The animals were randomly divided into five groups: sham-operated (S), model (M), traditional acupuncture (A) treatment, electroacupuncture (EA) treatment, and drug (D; edaravone) therapies. Neurological behavioral characteristics (neurological deficit score, forelimb muscle strength, sensorimotor function, body symmetry, sucrose consumption, and mood) were examined in all the groups on days 1, 3, 5, and 7 after reperfusion. Expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) were detected by immunohistochemistry. Both acupuncture and EA significantly reduced neurological deficits and improved forelimb muscle strength, sensorimotor function, body symmetry recovery, and neurovascular regeneration in the rats after ischemia/reperfusion injury. The efficacies of both acupuncture and EA were comparable to that of edaravone, a commonly used medicine for stroke in the clinic. Thus, our data suggest that acupuncture and EA therapy at acupoints GV20 and ST36 might represent alternative or complementary treatments to the conventional management of ischemic stroke, providing additional support for the experimental evidence for acupuncture therapy in clinical settings. In summary, EA might provide alternative or complementary treatment strategies for treating patients with apoplexy in the clinic. However, potential mechanisms underlying the role of acupuncture require further investigation.
