Abstract
There is extensive literature emerging in the field of dentistry with the aim to optimize clinical practice. Evidence-based guidelines (EBGs) are designed to collate diagnostic criteria and clinical treatment for a range of conditions based on high-quality evidence. Recently, advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have instigated further queries into its applicability and integration into dentistry. Hence, the aim of this study was to develop a model that can be used to assess the accuracy of treatment recommendations for dental conditions generated by individual clinicians and the outcomes of AI outputs. For this pilot study, a Delphi panel of six experts led by CoTreat AI provided the definition and developed evidence-based recommendations for subgingival and supragingival calculus. For the rapid review-a pragmatic approach that aims to rapidly assess the evidence base using a systematic methodology-the Ovid Medline database was searched for subgingival and supragingival calculus. Studies were selected and reported based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA), and this study complied with the minimum requirements for completing a restricted systematic review. Treatment recommendations were also searched for these same conditions in ChatGPT (version 3.5 and 4) and Bard (now Gemini). Adherence to the recommendations of the standard was assessed using qualitative content analysis and agreement scores for interrater reliability. Treatment recommendations by AI programs generally aligned with the current literature, with an agreement of up to 75%, although data sources were not provided by these tools, except for Bard. The clinician's rapid review results suggested several procedures that may increase the likelihood of overtreatment, as did GPT4. In terms of overall accuracy, GPT4 outperformed all other tools, including rapid review (Cohen's kappa 0.42 vs. 0.28). In summary, this study provides preliminary observations for the suitability of different evidence-generating methods to inform clinical dental practice.

Abstract
Periodontitis is a significant health concern for individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM), characterized by inflammation and periodontium loss. Hyperglycaemia in DM exacerbates susceptibility to periodontitis by inducing inflammaging in the host immune system. The use of erbium-doped yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser (ErL) in periodontitis treatment has gained attention, but its impact on diabetic-associated periodontitis (DP) and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we simulated DP by exposing human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLFs) to advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and lipopolysaccharides from P. gingivalis (Pg-LPS). Subsequently, we evaluated the impact of ErL on the cells' wound healing and assessed their inflammaging markers. ErL treatment promoted wound healing and suppressed inflammaging activities, including cell senescence, IL-6 secretion, and p65 phosphorylation. Moreover, the laser-targeted cells were observed to have upregulated expression of CTBP1-AS2, which, when overexpressed, enhanced wound healing ability and repressed inflammaging. Moreover, bioinformatic analysis revealed that CTBP1-AS2 acted as a sponge for miR155 and upregulated SIRT1. In conclusion, ErL demonstrated the ability to improve wound healing and mitigate inflammaging in diabetic periodontal tissue through the CTBP1-AS2/miR-155/SIRT1 axis. Targeting this axis could represent a promising therapeutic approach for preventing periodontitis in individuals with DM.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION An important and non-adapted delivered energy of Er:YAG laser can eliminate the total thickness of root cementum during root planing. Conversely, the preservation of a partial layer of cementum covering the roots is vital for any periodontal ligament regeneration. Thus, the assessment of the cementum ablation depth produced by each energy density of Er:YAG laser is essential before considering its use for the periodontal planing and treatment of the cementum and root surfaces. AIM OF THE STUDY Assessment of the cementum ablation depth at different energy densities of the Er:YAG laser is the aim of this study. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 48 human caries free molars were collected and used in this study. Areas to be irradiated were delimited by two longitudinal grooves (0.5 mm depth). Roots were divided randomly into four groups (4 × n = 12). An Er:YAG laser (2.94 µm) was used with a side-firing tip (R600T) with a 600 µm diameter and a frequency of 20 Hz combined with a cooling system of air 6 mL/min and water 4 mL/min. We used a super short pulse mode (SSP: pulse duration: 50 μs). We used a single irradiation passage backward from apex to cervical parts at 1 mm/s with a slight contact and at an angle of 15° to 30° between the tip and the root surface. Different energies were selected: 30 mJ, 40 mJ, 50 mJ, and 60 mJ. RESULTS Microscopic observations showed that the average of the ablation depth increased with the increase of the delivered energy from 30 mJ to 60 mJ. Mean values of the ablation depths were respectively as follows: 43.75 ± 4.89 µm for the energy of 30 mJ, 50.05 ± 3.72 µm for 40 mJ, 65.56 ± 10.35 µm for 50 mJ, and 74.80 ± 15.23 µm for 60 mJ. A statistically significant difference existed between the ablation depth of all groups. CONCLUSION Based on our results, the depth of cementum debridement is related to the level of the delivered energy. The lowest energy levels (30 mJ and 40 mJ) can ablate the root cementum surface for a variable depth from 43.75 ± 4.89 μm to 50.05 ± 3.72 μm.

Abstract
The aim is to investigate the application of periodontal tissue regeneration combined with orthodontics in oral restoration, and explore its effect and significance on the expressions of Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-5 (IL-5) in periodontal tissue. The patients in observation group were treated with orthodontics combined with periodontal tissue regeneration, and the control group was treated with periodontal tissue regeneration. The total effective rate, adverse reactions, recurrence rate and treatment satisfaction were compared. The masticatory function, language function, aesthetic level, VAS score, quality of life, gingival index (GI), plaque index (PLI), periodontal pocket probing depth (PD), sulcus bleeding index (SBI), IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-5 levels were compared. The recurrence rate of observation group was lower than control group, while the treatment satisfaction was higher after treatment. After treatment, the scores of masticatory, language, aesthetics, physiological, social, emotional, cognitive, and emotional functions and overall health score were higher than before treatment. After treatment, the scores of masticatory and language functions, aesthetics and quality of life of observation group were significantly higher than control group. After treatment, the VAS score, GI, PLI, SBI, PD, IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-5 levels were lower than before. The VAS score, GI, PLI, SBI, PD levels, IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-5 levels of observation group were lower after treatment. Orthodontics combined with periodontal tissue regeneration can help improve the periodontal condition of patients with periodontitis, reduce inflammatory response, improve the level of efficacy and overall safety, and further improve patients' quality of life and treatment satisfaction.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms of microRNA-146a (miR-146a) on gingival mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Gingival MSCs were isolated from the gingiva tissues of patients with periodontal disease to reveal the function of miR-146a in regulating osteoblast differentiation. miR-146a inhibits osteoblast differentiation by inhibiting phosphorylated cyclic-AMP response binding (CREB) protein translocation into the nucleus and ultimately attenuating runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) expression. Furthermore, silencing miR-146a promotes the proliferation of gingival MSCs. Of note, targeted inhibition of miR-146a also inhibited LPS-induced inflammatory response and promoted the proliferation of gingival MSCs via CREB/Runx2 axis. MiR-146a is a key negative regulator of gingival MSCs proliferation and osteogenic differentiation, and targeting to reduce the miR-146a expression is essential for bone formation signaling. Therefore, we propose that miR-146a is a useful therapeutic target for the development of bone anabolic strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to demonstrate if dental implant restoration can improve the clinical efficacy, masticatory function and comfort in patients with dentition defects. METHODS The clinical data of 90 patients with single tooth loss treated in Yuyao People's Hospital of Zhejiang Province from May 2018 to May 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were enrolled and divided into two groups. The control group (CG; n=45) was intervened by traditional fixed partial denture (FPD) restoration, and the observation group (OG; n=45) was treated with dental implant restoration. The clinical efficacy was evaluated, and amelioration of tooth-related indexes and clinical indicators 2 years after treatment were observed. The improvement of masticatory function and comfort scores were compared. The adverse reactions during treatment were recorded, and patients' satisfaction with the treatment was calculated. Logistic regression was performed to assess the independent risk factors for inefficacy of the treatments. RESULTS After treatment, the OG presented with lower gingival index, plaque index and sulcus bleeding index.
