Active integral imaging system based on multiple structured light method

In this paper, we simplify the equipments for integral imaging (II) pickup and implement an active II system based on multiple structured light (MSL) method. In the active II system, the complete three-dimensional (3D) shape of the 3D scene can be reconstructed, and the tunable parallaxes can be generated without occlusions. Therefore, the high-quality 3D images can be displayed efficiently by the II. We also use the Compute Unified Device Architecture implementing the processing algorithms in graphics processing unit. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the MSL method for the II pickup and the acceleration for the elemental image array generation. Especially, the proposed method is suitable for the real scene with high precision.

Application of global phase filtering method in multi frequency measurement

In reverse engineering, reconstruction of 3D point cloud data is the key step to acquire the final profile of the object. However, the quality of 3D reconstruction is influenced by noise in the three-dimensional measurement. This paper aims to tackle the issue of removing the noisy data from the complex point cloud data. The 3D-GPF (Three Dimensional Global Phase Filtering) global phase filtering method is proposed based on the study of phase filtering method, consisting of the steps below. Firstly, the six-step phase shift profilometry is used to obtain the local phase information, and encoding the obtained phase information. Through the global phase unwrapping method, the global phase can be acquired. Secondly, 3D-GPF method is used for the obtained global phase. Finally, the effect of 3D reconstruction is analyzed after the global phase filtering. Experimental results indicate that the noisy points of three-dimensional graphics is reduced 98.02%, the speed of 3D reconstruction is raised 12%.The effect of the proposed global phase filtering method is better than DCT and GSM methods. It is high precision and fast speed, and can be widely used in other 3D reconstruction application.

Reflectance field display

We propose a display for stereoscopically representing an arbitrary object that is responsive to an arbitrary physical illumination source in the display environment. Our scheme is based on the eight-dimensional reflectance field, which contains angular and spatial information of incoming and outgoing light rays of an object, and is also known as the bidirectional scattering surface reflectance distribution function (BSSRDF). This system is composed of an integral photography unit, an integral display unit, and a processor connecting these units. The concept was demonstrated experimentally. In the demonstrations, a stereoscopically represented object responded to changes in physical illumination coming toward the display.
