Abstract
The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis (SRM) was to evaluate whether bioceramic sealers have better penetration capacity in dentinal tubules and antimicrobial activity when compared to AH Plus® sealer. This SRM was recorded in the Open Science Framework database and followed the guidelines of the PRISMA 2020. Five databases were searched by two independent reviewers. Only in vitro studies that evaluated the effects of bioceramic sealers on dentinal tubule penetration and antimicrobial activity outcomes compared to AH Plus® sealer were included. Meta-analysis was conducted using R software, using the effect measure of the standardized mean difference (SMD) and inverse variance method. A modified Joanna Briggs Institute's Checklist was used for the risk of bias assessment. A total of 1486 studies were identified, and only 54 studies that fulfilled our eligibility criteria were included in this review. There was no statistical difference between the sealers evaluated for dentinal tubule penetration, in the thirds evaluated: coronal SMD 0.58 [0.14; 1.31], p = 0.12; middle SMD 0.07 [0.54; 0.39], p = 0.75; and apical SMD 0.08 [0.73; 0.56], p = 0.80. Both sealers demonstrated similar antimicrobial action (SMD [3.42; 5.32], p = 0.67 and SMD 0.67 [1.89; 0.55], p = 0.28). The studies presented a low risk of bias. Based on the in vitro studies included and according to the limitations of the present review, the data suggest that bioceramic and AH Plus® sealers present similar penetration capacity in dentinal tubules and antimicrobial effect, making them suitable materials to be considered in clinical practice.

Abstract
Objective This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate if bioceramic sealers had superior sealing properties to epoxy resin-based sealers. Methodology A systematic search was performed in the following databases: MEDLINE Ovid (from 1946 onwards), Scopus, Google Scholar, EBSCO, and a hand search of references of included articles was also done. In vitro and ex vivo studies were included. Risk of bias was assessed, and quantitative synthesis was performed for microleakage measured using vertical dye penetration, horizontal dye penetration, and dentin-sealer gap. Summary effect was reported as Standardized Mean Difference with 95% CI. Subgroup analysis was performed based on the imaging modalities, the obturation techniques, and the file systems employed. Results A total of 24 studies were included. Meta-analysis demonstrated no significant difference between the sealing ability of bioceramic sealer and epoxy resin-based sealer when measured using the microleakage tests [SMD -0.59(95%CI: 1.74,0.55)]. Subgroup analysis revealed no significant differences except when manual K-files were used. Heterogeneity was low when sub-group analysis was done. Conclusion Bioceramic sealers and epoxy resin-based sealers both exhibited comparable sealing ability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is not yet clear how different irrigation protocols and intracanal laser irradiation effects bioceramic sealers. In this vitro study, we aimed to evaluate the dislocation resistance of a bioceramic root canal sealer after different laser-assisted disinfection protocols and irrigants. METHODS Sixty extracted human straight single-canal teeth were instrumented, and randomly divided into five experimental groups (n=10) according to the disinfection protocol used: group 1, conventional needle irrigation (CI) with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)+ethylenediaminotetraacetic acid (EDTA)+NaOCl; group 2, Photon initiated photoacoustic streaming (PIPS) of NaOCl+EDTA+NaOCl; group 3, NaOCl+EDTA+diode laser; group 4, NaOCl+EDTA+photodynamic therapy (PDT); group 5, CI with NaOCl+EDTA+Chlorhexidine (CHX); and control group without any treatment. The root canals were filled with a bioceramic root canal sealer (BioRoot RCS) using the single-cone filling technique. After three weeks of storage, the samples from each canal thirds were transversely sectioned and the push-out test was performed. RESULTS The PIPS group showed the lowest dislocation resistance values in the coronal third (p>0.05), and no difference was observed among the other groups (p<0.05). The dislocation resistance in the middle and apical thirds was the highest in the diode laser group (p<0.05). CONCLUSION Final root canal irradiation with diode laser led to improved dislocation resistance of the bioceramic sealer. PDT did not adversely affect the dislocation resistance of BioRoot RCS. The PIPS reduced the dislocation resistance values in the coronal third, but not in the middle and apical thirds.

Abstract
To evaluate the sealer penetration after applying dual rinse irrigant in comparison with sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA. Mandibular premolars were prepared by ProTaper Next and irrigated with NaOCl, NaOCl/Dual Rinse or NaOCl/EDTA and then obturated with a single-cone technique and bioceramic-based. Samples were observed using confocal laser microscopy, and the maximum depth of penetration was measured, as well as the percentage of sealer coating the canal wall and the penetration area of the sealer. One-way anova was used, followed by Tukey post hoc test. Sealer penetration area displayed a statistically significant difference between the tested groups (P < 0.05), and the highest percentage of sealer coating the canal wall and the greatest depth of sealer penetration were found in Group (NaOCl/Dual Rinse). Group (NaOCl/Dual Rinse) displayed better sealer penetration inside the dentinal tubules than Group (NaOCl/EDTA), while Group (NaOCl) showed the lowest sealer penetration.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) was used to investigate the penetration of endodontic sealers into the dentinal tubules after retreatment using two different obturation techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty mandibular premolars were prepared up to instrument F3 (ProTaper Universal, Dentsply) and filled with Endofill using the single cone technique. The canals were retreated using Mtwo instruments. Reobturation was performed with the Bio-C sealer mixed with a fluorophore dye (Fluo-3) using either the lateral condensation technique (group LC) or the single cone technique (group SC) (n = 15). Teeth were sectioned 2, 4, and 6 mm from the apex and analyzed with CLSM to assess the penetration of the sealer into the canal perimeter and the maximum depth of penetration of the sealer into the dentinal tubules. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and the Student-t and Holm-Sidak tests. RESULTS In the apical segment, the penetrated perimeter was significantly higher in the LC group than in the SC group (p < 0.05); no significant difference was found in the middle and cervical segments (p > 0.05). In terms of penetration depth, no significant differences were found for any of the segments studied (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION The LC technique promoted a higher percentage of canal circumference penetrated by the sealer than the SC technique in the apical segment after endodontic retreatment. CLINICAL RELEVANCE CLSM demonstrated that the LC technique promoted a higher percentage of canal perimeter penetrated by the Bio-C sealer than the SC technique in the apical segment of mandibular premolars after retreatment.

Abstract
The aim of the present clinically controlled two-year study was to investigate the influence of laser-based cavity preparation on the long-term performance of Class V resin-composite fillings. Class V non-carious lesions (n = 75) were randomly assigned to two test and one control group. Cavities in both test groups were prepared using an Er,Cr:YSGG laser (Waterlase MD, Biolase, Irvine, California, USA). The device was operated at 3 W (150 mJ, 30 J/cm2), 50% water, 60% air, 30 Hz in H mode. Subsequently, laser-prepared tooth surfaces in test group I (n = 21) were additionally conditioned by acid etching (etch-and-rinse). Laser-prepared cavities of test group II (n = 21) received no additional acid conditioning. After application of an adhesive, all cavities were restored using the resin-composite Venus®. For cavities in the control group (n = 33) conventional diamond burs were used for preparation which was followed by an etch-and-rinse step, too. The fillings were evaluated immediately (baseline) and after 6, 12 and 24 months of wear according to the C-criteria of the USPHS-compatible CPM-index. The results showed that after 24 month of wear, laser-preparation was associated with fillings of high clinical acceptability. Compared to conventional bur-based treatment, laser-based cavity preparation resulted in fillings with high marginal integrity and superior marginal ledge configurations (p = 0.003). Furthermore, laser-preparation combined with additional acid-conditioning (test group I) resulted in fillings with the best marginal integrity and the lowest number in marginal discoloration, especially at the enamel-composite margins (p = 0.044). In addition, total loss of fillings was also less frequently observed in both laser groups as compared to the control. The results clearly demonstrate that laser-based cavity preparation will benefit the clinical long-time performance of Class V resin-composite fillings. Furthermore, additional acid-conditioning after laser preparation is of advantage.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the suitability of rhodamine B dye staining of an epoxy resin sealer (AH Plus) and calcium-silicate-based sealers (Total Fill BC Sealer, BioRoot RCS) to represent the penetration depth of the sealers into dentinal tubules after root canal obturation. In a three-step process, (1) leaching of rhodamine B from sealers into a buffer solution, (2) passive penetration of leached rhodamine B into dentinal tubules, and (3) conformity of rhodamine B penetration assessed by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and sealer penetration assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), in root-canal-filled teeth, were evaluated. Rhodamine B dye massively leached out of Total Fill BC Sealer and BioRoot RCS into the phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). A pinkish coloration of AH Plus was found after contact with PBS. Leached rhodamine B dye passively penetrated dentinal tubules from all three sealers when placed on root dentin. No correlation was observed between sealer penetration in SEM and rhodamine B penetration in CLSM. Staining of sealers using rhodamine B is an inadequate method with which to evaluate sealer penetration depth into dentinal tubules, as it overestimates the penetration of sealers into root dentin tubules.
