Abstract
Midwives' self-efficacy can significantly affect the provided care and, therefore, maternal and neonatal outcomes. The aim of the present study was to investigate associations of perceived self-efficacy with emotional intelligence, personality, resilience, and attitudes towards death among midwives in Greece. From 2020 to 2022, a total of 348 midwives were recruited in this descriptive cross-sectional study. The participants were employed as independent professionals, in public hospitals or regional health authorities. Data collection involved five research instruments: the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF), the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), the Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC), and the Death Attitude Profile-Revised (DAP-R) scale. The mean score for the GSES was 29.1 (SD = 4.2), suggesting a moderately elevated level of self-efficacy among midwives. The results revealed that higher scores on the GSES were significantly associated with higher scores on the Extraversion subscale (p < 0.001) and lower scores on the Neuroticism (p < 0.001) and Lie (p = 0.002) subscales of the EPQ. Additionally, high self-efficacy was significantly correlated with high emotional intelligence (p < 0.001), high neutral acceptance of death (p = 0.009), and high resilience (p < 0.001). These findings highlight the relationship between the self-efficacy of Greek midwives and various psychological factors, as well as the multifaceted nature of self-efficacy and its importance for midwives' psychological well-being and professional functioning.

Abstract
Midwifery practice inevitably includes miscarriages, stillbirths, and neonatal deaths. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between attitudes toward death and emotional intelligence, personality, resilience, and justice beliefs among midwives in Greece. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from 2020 to 2022 among 348 midwives employed in public hospitals, in regional health authorities, or as independent professionals. Research instruments included the Death Attitude Profile-Revised, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form, the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, and the Belief in a Just World scale. The results revealed that greater emotional intelligence was significantly associated with higher scores in the escape acceptance subscale. Midwives scored low on the neutral acceptance subscale (2.9 ± 0.8), with the highest score being recorded in the escape acceptance subscale (4.6 ± 1.0), which was significantly associated with greater emotional intelligence. Neuroticism was significantly associated with the death avoidance, approach acceptance, fear of death, and escape acceptance subscales. Finally, the subscale of distributive justice beliefs for self and others was significantly associated with the subscales of death avoidance and approach acceptance. These findings highlight the nuanced perspectives within the healthcare community. As we delve deeper into the complexities of end-of-life care, understanding these diverse attitudes is crucial for providing comprehensive and empathetic support to both patients and healthcare professionals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nursing work is a work with high-stress load, and nurses with different personality may have different subjective feelings about their workload. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to comprehend the perceived professional benefits of nurses engaged in nursing work under high-pressure background, especially during the epidemic period. This study explored the relationship between mental workload, personality, and perceived professional benefits of nurses, and offer advices for the intervention of nurses with different personality to improve their perceived professional benefits. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, we used a cross-sectional study with a convenient sampling. 473 in-service nurses in Class A tertiary hospitals of Zhejiang Province were recruited by using the NASA Mission Load Index scale of nurses, the brief version of China's Big Five Personality Questionnaire, and the Nurses' perceived professional benefits questionnaire from July 2020 to March 2021. Sample size is 54.91%, and the response rate is 100%. Cronbach's alpha method was used to evaluate the reliability of the instruments. Descriptive statistical analysis was used to describe the socio-demographic data of the subject, and scores for research variables. The Mann-Whitney U-test, and Kruskal-Wallis H rank-sum test were used to compare the scores of perceived professional benefits with different demographic characteristics. Correlation analysis results were presented as the Spearman correlation coefficient. The plug-in v2.16.3 provided by SPSS software was used for linear regression analysis, and the deviation-corrected percentile Bootstrap method was used to examine the mediating role of personality (neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness and extroversion). RESULTS Age, length of service in nursing, and record of formal schooling can affect nurses' perceived professional benefits. Mental workload, and perceived professional benefits were all above the median value. The mental workload was negatively correlated with perceived professional benefits (r= -0.129, P < 0.01), positively correlated with neuroticism (r = 0.242, P < 0.01), negatively correlated with agreeableness, openness, extroversion (r=-0.229~-0.221, P < 0.01), and negatively correlated with conscientiousness, but the differences were not significant. Nurses' perceived professional benefits were negatively correlated neuroticism (r=-0.109, P < 0.05), but positively associated with conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness, and extroversion (r = 0.098 ~ 0.326, P < 0.05). The mental workload can directly affect the perceived professional benefits in the direct effects, and can also affect the it through the mediating effect of agreeableness, extroversion, neuroticism, and openness. CONCLUSIONS Age, length of service in nursing, and record of formal schooling could affect nurses' perceived professional benefits, and personality played a partial mediating role in the influence of mental workload on the perceived professional benefits. The results of this study can provide strategies for nurses' human resource management. According to different demographic factors, and personality, various measures should be taken to guide nurses to evaluate the mental workload correctly, reduce their emotional pressure, increase job resources, and improve their perceived professional benefits.

Abstract
To explore nurses' ability to cope with death and its relationship with death cognition and meaning in life in the context of Chinese traditional culture. 1146 nurses from six tertiary hospitals were recruited. Participants completed the Coping with Death Scale, the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, and the self-made Death Cognition Questionnaire. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the search for meaning, the understanding of "good death", receiving education related to life-and-death, cultural aspect, the presence of meaning, and the number of patient deaths experienced in career explained 20.3% of the variance in the ability to cope with death. Lacking a correct understanding of death, nurses are not sufficiently prepared to deal with death and their ability to cope with death is influenced by the unique cognition of death and the sense of the meaning in life in the context of Chinese traditional culture.

Abstract
Background
Nurses are the main caregivers of dying patients. Facing or dealing with death-related events is inevitable. Death-coping self-efficacy (DCS) is very important, as it can reduce the risk of nursing staff to adverse emotional distress, help them participate in end-of-life care and improve the quality of care of patients.
Methods
Using the convenient sampling method, this study included a total of 572 nurses from a tertiary hospital in Hangzhou, China. The status and influencing factors of the DCS of nurses were explored using a general information questionnaire and DCS scale.
Results
The scores of each parameter, ranging from low to high, were in the order of coping with grief, preparation for death and hospice care. Factors influencing nurses’ DCS included attendance in hospice care education courses within the previous year, experience of accompanying the family members of the deceased and attitude towards death.
Conclusions
The overall self-efficacy of nurses in palliative care was at a medium level. Moreover, their self-efficacy in coping with grief and preparation for death should be strengthened. Managers of medical institutions can assess the death-coping ability of nurses, which helps provide corresponding support and training for nurses at an early stage. Nurses should receive guidance in grief adjustment and emotion regulation. Medical units should provide nurses with a platform for continuous training and education, use of death-related theoretical models and frameworks to guide nurses in dealing with death-related events, reduce nurses’ negative mood and jointly promote their mental health.

Abstract
Background Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a very critical phenomenon, and to prepare for it, most nurses undertake simulation training, during which learners’ stress levels should be managed. This study aims to evaluate nurses’ stress levels during CPR simulation training using heart rate variability (HRV) measured with a smartwatch and to determine the correlation between individual personality traits and stress levels. Methods This prospective observational study was conducted from July 2020 to December 2021. For nurses participating in advanced life support training with more than six months of clinical experience, their stress levels while performing as a CPR team leader were measured. Regarding stress levels, heart rate data measured with a smartwatch were processed using Kubios HRV Standard software to generate HRV parameters. The personality of participants was evaluated using the Big Five personality test. The degree of stress according to personality was determined using HRV parameters. Consequently, the correlation between personality and stress according to the clinical experience of cardiac arrest was analyzed. Results Of the 132 participants, 91.7% were female, and the median age of the sample was 27 years. Agreeable personality had the highest score (32.84±3.83). LF power (r = 0.18, p = 0.04) and HF power (r = 0.20, p = 0.02) showed a significant positive correlation with the agreeableness trait. In subgroup analysis according to the cardiac arrest experience, the agreeableness trait had a positive correlation with a standard deviation of NN intervals (r = 0.24, p = 0.01), root-mean-square of successive differences (r = 0.23, p = 0.02), LF Power (r = 0.26, p = 0.01), and HF power (r = 0.23, p = 0.02), but a negative correlation with mean HR (r = -0.22, p = 0.03). Conclusion The clinical experience in cardiac arrest and agreeableness were related to acute stress during training. In the future, it is necessary to apply a scenario of a level suitable for individual personality and experience, and evaluate the level and achievement of students.
