Left main coronary artery aneurysm associated with extensive coronary arterial calcification: case report and review

We present a 68-year-old male with left main coronary artery aneurysm and extensive coronary calcification involving the entire coronary arterial tree detected by coronary angiography and electron beam computerized tomography. With this article we also discussed the relationships between the pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerosis, coronary calcification, and coronary aneurysm formation.

Coronary Artery Aneurysms in a Young Patient with Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Case Report

Coronary artery aneurysms are not uncommon. They are usually arteriosclerotic in origin, and may be congenital or secondary to injury, dissection, infection, inflammation, or Kawasaki disease (KD). Herein, we report a case involving a 25-year-old male smoker with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Coronary angiography showed triple-vessel disease, coronary artery aneurysms, and diffuse ectasia. Coronary artery bypass grafting was performed without complications. Based on his history, serologic examinations, and angiographic findings, we suspected that his coronary artery aneurysms and ectasia were the adult sequelae of KD. This case is a good reminder that KD victims may suffer from young-onset AMI.

Multiple aneurysms of the coronary arteries in a patient with systemic aneurysmal disease

A case of multiple coronary artery aneurysms in a patient with an abdominal aortic aneurysm and bilateral popliteal artery aneurysms is reported. As diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease become more aggressive, a higher incidence of detection of coronary artery aneurysms in conjunction with peripheral vascular lesions is likely. The role of coronary sinus cardioplegia in minimizing the risk of embolization from the coronary aneurysms during surgical repair is emphasized.

Coronary artery aneurysms and myocardial infarction: adult sequelae of Kawasaki disease?

Coronary artery aneurysms developed in a 43 year old man who had suffered an acute myocardial infarction at the age of 30. In childhood he had had an illness that was consistent with Kawasaki disease, and it is suggested that the proximal discrete aneurysms and myocardial infarction may be the adult sequelae of this.

Congenital coronary aneurysms nine years following saphenous vein bypass graft surgery

A 34-year-old woman with two congenital coronary aneurysms received a saphenous vein bypass graft (SVBG) as treatment for a thrombosed right coronary artery aneurysm 9 years ago. The angiographic and surgical findings were reported at that time [1]. In 1979, she received a sequential SVBG to the left anterior descending and first diagonal coronary arteries following recurrence of angina and progressive occlusion of the left coronary artery aneurysm. She is believed to have the longest angiographically documented course following operation, and her case history is reported to aid in establishing the natural history of this unusual condition and its surgical management.

Massive coronary arterial aneurysm

The pathologic and echocardiographic findings of a massive right coronary arterial aneurysm in a 62 year old man are presented. The thrombosed aneurysm simulated a cardiac tumor, destroying one pulmonary valve cusp. It also caused marked pulmonary stenosis with elongation and narrowing of the outflow tract of the right ventricle and fixation of half of one cusp of the tricuspid valve.

Surgical management of an aneurysm of the left main coronary artery

A 28-year-old woman underwent cardiac catheterization three months after sustaining an acute anterolateral myocardial infarct. An aneurysm of the left main coronary artery was found at angiography and also was visualized by two-dimensional echocardiography. The patient had no evidence of atherosclerotic vascular disease. At operation, vein grafts were placed to bypass the aneurysm and the orifice of the left coronary artery was oversewn to exclude the aneurysm from the coronary circulation.
