Abstract
One person suffers from dementia every 3 seconds globally. Thirteen older adults aged 65 and older will have dementia, and 1 in 5 older adults over the age of 80 years will have dementia in Taiwan. Older adults should be equipped with demonstrated health beliefs regarding dementia prevention and health promotion about Ascertain Dementia 8-item Questionnaire (AD8), cues to action, health beliefs, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention in daily life. The purpose of this study was to survey older adults' demographic background, AD8, cues to action, health beliefs, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention for dementia prevention and health promotion. A cross-sectional survey design was used. Convenience sampling was performed. A total of 330 older adults participated in the study. The questionnaire used in this study included questions on older adults' demographic background, AD8, cues to action, health beliefs, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention. The researcher collected complete data by receiving the sampling on paper or by interview from October 8, 2021, to February 12, 2022. The SPSS 23.0 statistical package was employed for quantitative analysis. Data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (SD), Spearman's rho correlation, and simple regression analysis. The findings showed that older adults had the following mean scores on health beliefs (perceived susceptibility 13.45 ± SD 2.34, perceived severity 13.54 ± SD 2.69, perceived benefits 16.57 ± SD 2.84, perceived barriers 8.20 ± SD 3.69), self-efficacy 16.96 ± SD3.52, and behavioral intention 19.56 ± SD 3.51. Older adults' demographic background, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and self-efficacy explained 56.1% of the variance in behavioral intention. The conclusions of the study indicated that older adults' demographic background, AD8, cues to action, health beliefs, self-efficacy, and behavioral intention constituted the main factors for effective dementia prevention and health promotion. In the future, the research team will continue to explore older adults' dementia prevention and develop many strategies on health promotion, as well as slowing the aging brain process.

Abstract
Background and objectives Cognitive reserve (CR) is a property of the brain that allows for better-than-expected cognitive performance relative to the degree of brain change over the course of life. However, neurophysiological markers of CR remain under-investigated. Electroencephalography (EEG) features may function as suitable neurophysiological markers of CR. To assess this, we investigated whether the dorsal attention network (DAN) and ventral attention network (VAN) activities, as measured during resting-state EEG, moderate the relationship between hippocampal volume and episodic memory. Methods Participants were recruited as part of the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology-Study of Geriatric Syndromes. Hippocampal volume was determined using magnetic MRI, and episodic memory was measured using word lists. After testing the effect of hippocampal volume on memory performance using multiple regression analysis, we evaluated the interactions between hippocampal volume and DAN and VAN network activities. We further used the Johnson-Neyman technique to quantify the moderating effects of DAN and VAN network activities on the relationship between hippocampal volume and word list memory, as well as to identify specific ranges of DAN and VAN network activity with significant hippocampal-memory association. Results A total of 449 participants were included in this study. Our analysis revealed significant moderation of DAN with a slope of β = -0.00012 (95% CI: -0.00024; -0.00001, p = 0.040), and VAN with a slope of β = 0.00014 (95% CI: 0.00001; 0.00026, p = 0.031). Further, we found that a larger hippocampal volume was associated with improved memory performance, and that this association became stronger as the DAN activity decreased until a limit of DAN activity of 944.9, after which the hippocampal volume was no longer significantly related to word-list memory performance. For the VAN, we found that a higher hippocampal volume was more strongly associated with better memory performance when VAN activity was higher. However, when VAN activity extended beyond -914.6, the hippocampal volume was no longer significantly associated with word-list memory. Discussion Our results suggest that attentional networks help to maintain memory performance in the face of age-related structural decline, meeting the criteria for the neural implementation of cognitive reserve.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Neurodegeneration and structural changes in the brain due to amyloid deposition have been observed even in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). EEG measurement is considered an effective tool because it is noninvasive, has few restrictions on the measurement environment, and is simple and easy to use. In this study, we investigated the neurophysiological characteristics of community-dwelling older adults with MCI using EEG. METHODS Demographic characteristics, cognitive function, physical function, resting-state MRI and electroencephalogram (rs-EEG), event-related potentials (ERPs) during Simon tasks, and task proportion of correct responses and reaction times (RTs) were obtained from 402 healthy controls (HC) and 47 MCI participants. We introduced exact low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography-independent component analysis (eLORETA-ICA) to assess the rs-EEG network in community-dwelling older adults with MCI. RESULTS A lower proportion of correct responses to the Simon task and slower RTs were observed in the MCI group (p < 0.01). Despite no difference in brain volume between the HC and MCI groups, significant decreases in dorsal attention network (DAN) activity (p < 0.05) and N2 amplitude of ERP (p < 0.001) were observed in the MCI group. Moreover, DAN activity demonstrated a correlation with education (Rs = 0.32, p = 0.027), global cognitive function (Rs = 0.32, p = 0.030), and processing speed (Rs = 0.37, p = 0.010) in the MCI group. The discrimination accuracy for MCI with the addition of the eLORETA-ICA network ranged from 0.7817 to 0.7929, and the area under the curve ranged from 0.8492 to 0.8495. CONCLUSIONS The eLORETA-ICA approach of rs-EEG using noninvasive and relatively inexpensive EEG demonstrates specific changes in elders with MCI. It may provide a simple and valid assessment method with few restrictions on the measurement environment and may be useful for early detection of MCI in community-dwelling older adults.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multi-domain interventions effectively prevent dementia in clinical settings; however, their efficacy within local communities is unclear. This study assesses the feasibility of an adapted multi-domain intervention for dementia prevention in community-dwelling older adults. METHODS The single-arm trial enrolls 60 participants from two Obu City communities, Japan. PRIMARY OUTCOME participant retention in the adapted multi-domain intervention; secondary outcomes: health and implementation outcomes. Over 12 months, a team of researchers and public health nurse oversees the study in the first half, gradually shifting the management to public health nurses in the second half. Using the Framework for Reporting Adaptations and Modifications-Enhanced, the clinical programme is adjusted for the local community. It includes a 60-minute exercise and 30-minute group sessions, targeting lifestyle, diet, and social participation. DISCUSSION This pioneer study evaluates the feasibility of an adapted intervention programme for dementia prevention in a community setting. Challenges in disseminating dementia prevention programmes warrant further investigation into effective implementation as well as strategies and methods to appeal to the target population. Upon confirming this programme's feasibility, future studies can further evaluate its broader effectiveness. TRIAL REGISTRATION The protocol is registered with the Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) of the University Hospital's Medical Information Network, under registration number UMIN000050581.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The rapid growth in mobile phone use has led to public concern about its potential effects on the risk of dementia. This study aimed to investigate the association between mobile phone use in daily life and the risk of dementia incidence in community-dwelling adults based on the data from the UK Biobank. METHODS Participants in the UK Biobank aged 60 years or older with no diagnosis of dementia at the time of recruitment were included in this prospective cohort study. A Cox regression model adjusted for sociodemographic characteristics, general health factors, mental health, lifestyle factors, comorbidities, and medication use was used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and confidence interval (CI) of the association between mobile phone use and dementia risk. RESULTS The final analyses included 213,181 participants. During a median follow-up period of 12.4 years, 6,344 cases of incident dementia occurred. Mobile phone use displayed a modest association with lower risk of dementia incidence, with HRs of 0.85 (95% CI: 0.79-0.91), 0.85 (95% CI: 0.80-0.91), 0.78 (95% CI: 0.71-0.86), 0.86 (95% CI: 0.77-0.96), and 0.83 (95% CI: 0.70-0.98) for participants who reported phone call usage of fewer than 5 min, 5-29 min, 30-59 min, 1-3 h, and more than 3 h per week, respectively, compared with nonusers. In addition, the proportions of the association medicated by family/friend visits and other leisure/social activities were 2.62% (95% CI: -0.64-6.51) and 2.22% (95% CI: 1.12-4.12), respectively. CONCLUSIONS Daily mobile phone use is significantly associated with a reduced risk of incident dementia in community-dwelling adults in the UK Biobank population. This association seems to be mediated by improved social and mental activities.
