Abstract
Objectives The aim of the study was to investigate the superiority of rehabilitation with virtual reality (Nintendo Wii) over habituation exercises in chronic vestibular hypofunction. Patients and methods Eighty-seven patients (44 males, 43 females; mean age: 45.8±12.2 years; range, 19 to 70 years) with chronic unilateral vestibular hypofunction were included in the prospective randomized controlled study conducted between October 2017 and June 2018. Patients were randomized into two groups: the treatment group (TG; n=45) and the control group (n=42). Each group received vestibular rehabilitation exercises. The TG exercised with visual stimulation (virtual reality) in addition to the standard exercises. The patients were evaluated before the treatment and at two and three months. The frequency of dizziness was questioned. Visual analog scale, timed up and go test, Berg balance test, Romberg test, and Dizziness Handicap Inventory questionnaire were used to assess the patients. Results There was a statistically significant decrease in the severity of dizziness in both groups at two- and three-month controls (p<0.001). In the comparison between the groups, severity of dizziness, frequency of attacks, and daily frequency were significantly improved in the TG (p<0.001). Conclusion Adding virtual reality therapy to habituation exercises is effective in reducing the frequency of attacks.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the reliability and minimal detectable change (MDC) of weight-bearing asymmetry (WBA) and body sway (BS) during "eyes open" (EO) and "eyes closed" (EC) conditions for those with right brain damage (RBD) and left brain damage (LBD) at a chronic stage. METHODS Sixteen RBD and 16 LBD patients participated in two sessions within 15 days, composed of two trials of 30 s using a double force platform. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC2,1), the standard error of measurement (SEM), and MDC were calculated for WBA and BS (area and velocity of sway). RESULTS Reliability of WBA was excellent (>0.75) except for EC for LBD patients (low SEM was found). The condition of EC was similar to or less reliable than that of EO. The MDC of WBA was 5.4 and 7.3% for LBD and RBD patients, respectively. Velocity of sway should be favored over the area of sway due to better reliability, with an MDC of 9 and 13 mm/s for RBD and LBD patients, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Parameters related to WBA and BS were highly reliable, without a difference between RBD and LBD patients, but less so in the condition of EC, and could be used for clinical rehabilitation and/or research.Implications for rehabilitationWeight-bearing asymmetry (WBA) and body sway (BS) are highly reliable posturography parameters.Reliability of WBA/BS is similar among right brain damaged (RBD) and left brain damaged (LBD) patients.A change of 5-7% can be interpreted as significant for WBA for chronic stroke.The minimal detectable change in measures is slightly higher for RBD patients.

Abstract
[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to determine the concurrent validity of Wii Fit center-of-pressure parameters with Clinical Test of Sensory Integration for Balance and to evaluate the discriminant validity of the Wii Fit center-of-pressure parameters for adults and the elderly for the assessment of postural sway. [Participants and Methods] This study used an observational cross-sectional correlational design. All 70 participants were required to complete a questionnaire for eligibility screening, followed by a center-of-pressure assessment using three Wii Fit balance activities (snowboard slalom, ski slalom, and balance bubble) and Clinical Test of Sensory Integration for Balance using a force platform. [Results] For center-of-pressure assessment, our results showed there was concurrent validity of Wii Fit ski slalom and balance bubble with Clinical Test of Sensory Integration for Balance conditions 6 and 4, respectively. Our results also demonstrated that the three Wii Fit balance activities selected in this study could be used to discriminate between adults and the elderly. [Conclusion] Our results suggest that Wii Fit is a viable and affordable alternative method for center-of-pressure assessment.

Abstract
Objective: To comprehensively validate an assessment tailored to an exergaming training program with motor-cognitive challenges. Materials and Methods: Fifty-eight cognitively intact, multimorbid, independently living older adults (mean age [standard deviation]: 78.3 [6.5] years) with moderate functional limitations participated in the study. For construct validity, Spearman's rank correlations (rs) between game parameters and established cognitive (Number-Connection-Test [Zahlen-Verbindungs-Test], Simple Response Time Task, Simon Task) and motor (Short Physical Performance Battery, Physiomat® balance tests) measures were calculated. Test-retest reliability was documented by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs), sensitivity to change by effect sizes using partial eta squared (ηp2), and feasibility by mean completion time and completion rates. Results: Good construct validity of the assessment was observed, with on average moderate-to-high correlations between game parameters and cognitive tests, measures of lower extremity function and dynamic balance (range of rs including extreme outliers = 0.00-0.70, P < 0.001-0.998). Test-retest reliability was good, with ICCs mostly ranging from moderate to high (ICCs = 0.37-0.93, P < 0.001-0.130), and sensitivity to change was excellent (ηp2 = 0.16-0.81, P < 0.001-0.044). Completion rates for the initial challenge levels were 100%, mean completion time 36.3 minutes, and no clinical events or safety problems were observed. Conclusion: Study results documented on average good validity, test-retest reliability and feasibility, with an extraordinary high responsiveness of the presented game-based assessment in older adults with moderate functional limitations. The innovative, data-based assessment validated in this study may serve as a blueprint for future, tailored assessments for exergaming.

Abstract
Objectives: The main objective was to identify the test-retest reliability of the Wii Balance Board (WBB) for assessing standing balance when administered to a population of people with intellectual disability (ID). A secondary objective was to provide information regarding the reliability of the WBB, taking into account the severity of cognitive impairment. Methods: The WBB was administered two times to a group of 50 people (mean age: 20.44 ± 5.73 years) with mild (n=32), moderate (n=6), or severe ID (n=12) within a 15-day period. The relative reliability of the WBB for the 'standing balance with open eyes' test was analyzed by means of intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). The standard error measurement and the minimum detectable change were used to identify absolute reliability. Results: For the whole sample, the WBB showed a fair (ICC=0.71), poor (ICC=0.66), and excellent (ICC=0.99) relative reliability for assessing weight-bearing asymmetry, center of pressure, path length, and sway area, respectively. In people with moderate/severe ID, statistically significant differences between the WBB test and retest scores were found. The absolute reliability of the WBB was considered poor. Conclusion: The WBB showed accurate adequate test-retest reliability for assessing standing balance in young people with ID. When using this device with people with moderate/severe ID, it is advisable to perform several testing trials, in order to avoid a possible learning effect. Standard error of measurement and minimal detectable change were high, indicating that this device might not be sensitive enough to properly identify static balance changes in this population.
