Abstract
BACKGROUND Bisphosphonates (BPs) are often used in treating benign and malignant disorders. Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a significant problem that arises from the long-term use of BPs. OBJECTIVE In this study, we assessed the knowledge of students and dentists about MRONJ in the central region of Saudi Arabia. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted to collect information from dental students and practitioners from the central region of Saudi Arabia. A valid, reliable, and structured questionnaire was used to gather data using a non-probability convenient sampling technique. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0 (Released 2013; IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, United States) was used to analyse the data. The descriptive data were expressed as frequencies and percentages to evaluate the association between dentists and students concerning overall knowledge related to osteonecrosis of the jaw, and a chi-squared test was applied. RESULTS In total, 250 individuals completed the questionnaire. The general knowledge of antiresorptive/antiangiogenic medications showed that most dentists (87.5%) and students (68.4%) knew about BP medications. A general lack of understanding about the therapeutic uses of antiangiogenic and antiresorptive medications was demonstrated by the participants. A significant proportion of dentists (58.8%) and students (50.9%) were not convinced that invasive dental procedures can be safely performed on patients receiving intravenous BP therapy. A significant proportion of the participants in the sample were unclear of the principal diseases that antiresorptive and antiangiogenic medications target. A mere 22% of respondents were aware of the accurate definition of medications-related MRONJ. CONCLUSION There is insufficient knowledge about MRONJ among students and practitioners. Therefore, these findings suggest increased emphasis should be placed on educating dentists and students about this condition to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Abstract
Osteomyelitis of the jaws presents a clinical challenge to conventional treatment, often requiring multiple surgical interventions resulting in significant deformity and presenting significant problems to satisfactory rehabilitation. While benign odontogenic cysts, such as the radicular cyst, are generally predictably treated, they can cause significant localized bone destruction and thus can present significant problems in satisfactory rehabilitation. In this case report, patients were treated combining conventionally appropriate surgical debridement and oral antibiotics with adjunctive plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF). Patients showed a complete soft tissue and osseous regeneration to their pre-pathologic state, with successful implant rehabilitation. PRGF appears to be highly successful in minimizing or eliminating osseous deformities normally associated with conventional treatment of osteomyelitis of the jaw and treatment of large odontogenic cysts. Future trials must be performed to confirm these results in comparison to controls using conventional treatment alone.

Abstract
Introduction. Osteoporosis (OP) is characterized by microstructural degeneration of bone tissue, low bone mass, bone fragility and even brittle fracture (osteoporotic fracture, OPF). OP and OPF are common and there are many disadvantages to the current medications for OP/OPF. Osteoking is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) originating from the Yi nationality (Yunnan, China) that has been used to treat bone diseases for decades.Hypothesis/Gap Statement. This study will reveal the changes in the intestinal microbiota of OP rats after 70 days of osteoking treatment.Method. With duplication of sham and OP rats, eight groups were established, with six rats in each group. The intestinal microbiotas were analysed by 16S rDNA sequencing.Results. The results showed that osteoking changed the intestinal microbiota of sham rats and OP rats. The mechanism by which osteoking improves OP is related to the functions of the intestinal microbiota. After 70 days of treatment with osteoking, the contents of Pseudonocardia, Pedomicrobium, Variovorax, Niastella and Actinosynnema were decreased in OP rats. The functions of the above intestinal microbiota related to iron metabolism affected calcifediol and 25(OH)D, and measuring these bone metabolic indicators is required for further study.Conclusion. Osteoking changes the intestinal microbiota to improve OP, and further study which reveals these intestinal microbiota and mechanism is needed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Bisphosphonates (BPs) are used for treatment of various benign and malignant medical conditions. Medications-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) is a very serious complication of prolonged therapy with BPs. This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge among dental professionals in Saudi Arabia regarding MRONJ. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a questionnaire-based, cross-sectional study. A self-administered questionnaire comprising close-ended questions about BPs and MRONJ was sent to a convenience sample of dentists in Saudi Arabia.Statistical Analysis SPSS software was used for data analysis. Chi-square test was used to compare between the groups. The significance level was set at p < 0.05. RESULTS A total of 607 dentists participated in this survey. Overall, the respondents showed insufficient level of knowledge regarding BPORNJ, with only 70% of the respondents had heard about BPORNJ, and less than 50% recognized the risk factors and clinical features of the disease. Additionally, while two-thirds of the respondents recognized the importance of taking BPs history, the majority did not know the correct treatment approach. Respondents with higher degrees (specialists) showed far better knowledge than general dentists. CONCLUSION The knowledge regarding BPs therapy and its complications among Saudi dentists is unsatisfactory. Hence, interventions are highly required to improve dentists' knowledge regarding BPs and MRONJ.

Abstract
The aim of this systematic review was to answer the question: Is the application of autologous platelet concentrates (APCs) effective in the prevention and treatment of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ)? A literature search of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases (articles published until June 30, 2019) was conducted, in accordance with the PRISMA statement, using search terms related to "platelet concentrate" and "osteonecrosis". The Jadad scale was used to assess the quality of the articles. Fisher's exact test was used to evaluate eventual differences between groups. Of 594 articles, 43 were included in the review (8 for MRONJ prevention and 35 for MRONJ treatment). Out of a total of 1219 dental extractions recorded (786 with APCs), only 12 cases of MRONJ have been reported (1%), all in patients with a history of high-dose antiresorptive treatment, and regardless of the use of APCs (p = 0.7634). Regarding MRONJ treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in terms of improvement between APC application and surgical treatment alone (p = 0.0788). Results are not sufficient to establish the effectiveness of APCs in the prevention and treatment of MRONJ. Randomized controlled trials with large sample size are needed.
