[Analysis of three health education strategies for patients with arterial hypertension]

[Health promotion and primary care for people with chronic non-transmissible diseases]

OBJECTIVE

Understand the health promotion practices developed by primary health care nurses in a southern county of Brazil, in the care of people with chronic non-communicable diseases.

METHOD

Qualitactive research, developed by multiple speeches, in twenty three health centers of a southern county of Brazil.

RESULTS

According to speeches, the health promotion practices developed by nurses refer to two main fields, of the five action fields proposed by the Ottawa Letter: reorientation of the health system and developing personal abilities. It appeared as a speech, related to the central idea about the limits to developing fields of the Ottawa letter.

CONCLUSIONS

Besides the efforts spent to develop health promotion practices, these appear in some moments in an amplified way, thinking in a new logic to Health promotion and in other situations it shows itself in a more restrictive way, returning to a more traditional practice.

Educational actions: an action research with Family Health Strategy professionals and users

OBJECTIVES

to identify the factors that influence educational actions, and building with professionals and users proposed educational strategies that encourage popular participation.

METHODS

an action research, in which individual interviews, participant observation and Focus Group were conducted. Sixteen professionals and ten users from 2 Family Health Strategy from Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil participated. The results were organized by using the Thematic Analysis technique.

RESULTS

the thematic units emerged: Health education as a strategy that encourages changes in the lives of Family Health Strategyusers; Critical reflection on diagnosis of the causes that interfere in educational actions in the Family Health Strategy and proposition of new strategies; Potentialities that encourage the development of educational practices at Family Heath Units; Proposals for improving educational practices focused on soft health education technology in the dialogue dimension.

CONCLUSIONS

the analysis showed a lack of community ties and traditional educational strategies. In the action phase, the actors agreed to participatory changes.

Pub Talk: participation, education and men’s health promotion

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the execution process of dialogical actions of a socio-educational group called “Pub Talk”, created by professionals of the Paraisópolis II Basic Health Unit, recognizing challenges related to men’s health. Method: Comprehensive evaluative research, which parameters were conceptual aspects of the Nola Pender’s model. Interviews were conducted with the professionals and the focus group with men participating in the Group, analyzing three components of this model: individual experiences and characteristics; feelings and knowledge about the behavior one wants to achieve; desirable health promotion behavior. Results: The group is a self-care guiding intervention; values scientific and popular knowledge, with protagonism of those involved; covers the prevention of disease and changes of habits; has different perceptions regarding the structural and technical aspects of the meetings. Conclusion: Dialogic actions contributed to the promotion of the health of the participants by favoring the (re)cognition of determinants of their health and living conditions.

Students’ knowledge of metabolic syndrome after educational intervention

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the knowledge of children and adolescents about risk factors for metabolic syndrome (MS) before and after educational interventions. Method: A quasi-experimental, comparative, prospective and intervention study conducted in 2015 and 2016 with 43 students in the city of Picos (state of Piauí-PI). Five health education meetings were held. For the knowledge analysis, was applied a questionnaire at three different moments. Results: Participants’ mean age was 12.6 years (± 2.1), of which 60.5% were female. The ‘More than good’ level of knowledge went from 20.9% to 55.8% after interventions. When evaluated late, students maintained a higher level of knowledge compared to before the interventions. Most said they were able to change their lifestyle after educational meetings. Conclusion: The educational intervention promoted increase of knowledge and stimulated changes in attitudes related to risk factors associated with MS.

Estratégias de educação alimentar e nutricional na Atenção Primária à Saúde: uma revisão de literatura

RESUMO O presente trabalho objetivou revisar de forma sistemática a produção científica sobre intervenções de educação alimentar e nutricional com indivíduos adultos no campo da Atenção Primária à Saúde no Brasil, no período de 2006 a 2016. Foram selecionados 11 artigos que responderam aos critérios de elegibilidade. Observou-se uma descrição breve das bases teórico-metodológicas, limitando a reprodução das intervenções. As práticas educativas desenvolvidas possuem pouco enfoque na promoção da saúde e uma forte tendência metodológica clássica, sendo necessários estudos qualitativos, com a percepção da autonomia, e que ampliem o uso de metodologias ativas nos processos de intervenção.

Multi-professional intervention in adults with arterial hypertension: a randomized clinical trial

Objective:

assess the influence of an intervention, comprised of counseling related to health and aerobic physical training for lowering pressure values, in anthropometric indicators and in the adjustment of biochemical parameters in individuals with hypertension.

Method:

intervention study of the randomized clinical trial variety, with 42 individuals. The intervention-group followed the protocol of health counseling, nutrition and physical activity.

Results:

two intervention groups were considered: intervention-group (a) and intervention-group (b). Intervention-group (a) showed significant decrease in measurements of systolic and diastolic arterial pressure, of high-density lipoprotein parameters, hip circumference values and waist-hip ratio. Intervention-group (b) presented significant decrease in systolic arterial pressure values.

Conclusion:

it was found that the health intervention in conjunction with physical activities were effective in decreasing and/or controlling values for pressure, biochemical and anthropometric indicators.
