Educational video for adherence to vaginal pessary in pelvic organ prolapse treatment

OBJECTIVES

to construct and assess an educational video to promote the adherence of women with pelvic organ prolapse to vaginal pessary use.

METHODS

this is a methodological study, with a longitudinal design and quantitative analysis. The pre-production (synopsis, argument, script, storyboard), production and post-production stages were covered. Content and technical assessments were carried out by judges from the health and communication areas, respectively, and appearance assessment by the target audience.

RESULTS

the video was the first to be developed on the topic on the national scene, considered assessed from the point of view of appearance and content, presenting an overall Content Validity Index of 0.99 and a level of agreement among judges of 91.1% to 100%. Assessment by the target audience reached a percentage of 96% to 100%.

CONCLUSIONS

the educational video is an instrument capable of promoting adherence to pessary in women indicated for this therapeutic approach.

Website for families of non-breastfed children: development and validation of content and interface

OBJECTIVES

to develop and validate the content and interface of a guidance website to support families in promoting Food and Nutrition Security for children under six months who are not breastfed.

METHODS

methodological study, Knowledge Translation, in two stages of creation: 1) content and validation on the criterion of accuracy in a panel of experts; 2) interface and validation on the criteria of content, language, illustrations, layout, motivation, culture and applicability.

RESULTS

the "Milky Way" website is freely available: https://www.ufsm.br/pet/ciencia-da-computacao/alimentacao-lactea. The content was structured in a decision tree made up of types of milk: milk formula, whole cow's milk and powdered milk; and utensils: bottle, cup and measuring spoon. There were 46 illustrations to elucidate the content, facilitate understanding and engage the target population. The Content Validity Index was 0.91.

CONCLUSIONS

the website is a validated technology with evidence-based written and pictorial content translated for use with families.

Self-care during the COVID-19 pandemic: Development of a virtual educational booklet for postmenopausal women with osteoporosis

OBJECTIVE

To describe the development of a virtual educational booklet for self-care promotion of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis during the COVID-19 pandemics.

METHOD

This methodological study was conducted in three steps: bibliographic search, development of virtual educational booklet by 12 evaluators and ten representatives of the target audience. A questionnaire adapted from the literature was used to evaluate the educational booklet. The questionnaire consisted of seven items: scientific accuracy, content, language, illustrations, specificity and comprehension, readability, and quality of information. A minimum score of 0.75 in the content validity index (CVI) of each questionnaire item and minimum agreement of 75% among positive responses of postmenopausal women were required to validate the virtual booklet.

RESULTS

Health professionals and representatives of the target audience suggested changes regarding layout, illustrations, and content of the virtual booklet. CVI of the final version was 0.84 between health professionals and agreement among the target audience was 90%.

CONCLUSION

The virtual educational booklet with exercises and instructions for postmenopausal women with osteoporosis was valid and should be used by health professionals for advice on self-care and health promotion during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NURSING AND HEALTH ADVOCACY: DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF AN EDUCATIONAL MANUAL

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the development and validation of an educational manual for nurses on the practice of health advocacy in their professional experience. Method the method used to develop the manual was composed of three stages carried out from 2018 to 2020: an integrative review of studies published from 2010 to 2018, development of the content, and validation of the educational manual by experts. Results: based on the integrative literature review, 91 final articles related to the theme of advocacy in health and nursing were selected, which subsidized the definition of four themes: The meaning and fundamental elements for the practice of advocacy in nursing; Advocacy in teaching and the involvement of other care actors; Advocacy as a professional, moral, and ethical obligation; Advocacy about specific population groups. The themes contributed to the development of the educational manual content. After submission and validation by specialists, it was possible to define the layout, size, number of pages, and final design of the educational manual, which will be printed and handed out to nursing professionals and students, and made available online. Conclusions: the elaboration and validation of the manual help to build knowledge related to the professional practice of the nursing team and the exercise of advocacy in health.

Validação de vídeo instrucional sobre banho de ofurô em recém-nascido pré-termo para enfermeiros

Resumo Objetivo Produzir um vídeo instrucional para enfermeiros sobre o banho de ofurô em recém-nascidos pré-termo e validar seu conteúdo. Método Estudo metodológico de desenvolvimento tecnológico com ênfase na validação de conteúdo, conduzido em três etapas: revisão exploratória da literatura, produção da tecnologia educacional do tipo vídeo instrucional e validação por especialistas. Os dados foram sistematizados e organizados em planilhas e as análises foram conduzidas no pacote estatístico R. Para validar o conteúdo, aplicaram-se o Índice Kappa, para medir a concordância entre as respostas, e o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo, para estimar a representatividade do item. Resultados As publicações sobre a técnica (n=3) identificadas na revisão de literatura foram utilizadas para a produção do vídeo. O vídeo simula o cuidado em unidade neonatal e tem duração de 13 minutos. No processo de validação, o vídeo foi considerado, no geral, com representatividade de conteúdo adequada e obteve índice de concordância entre as respostas quase perfeito. Dois itens foram avaliados como “adequados com alterações” e modificados. Conclusão e implicações para a prática O material produzido foi considerado adequado para ser utilizado na capacitação de enfermeiros sobre a técnica e compartilhamento de informações, contribuindo para o cuidado de enfermagem humanizado e seguro em unidades neonatais.

ENFERMAGEM E A ADVOCACIA EM SAÚDE: PROCESSO DE ELABORAÇÃO DE CARTILHA EDUCATIVA

RESUMO Objetivo: descrever a elaboração e validação de uma cartilha educativa para enfermeiros sobre o exercício da advocacia em saúde em sua prática profissional. Método para a elaboração da cartilha foi utilizado o método composto de três etapas realizadas de 2018 a 2020: revisão integrativa de estudos publicados no período de 2010 a 2018, construção do conteúdo e validação da cartilha educativa por especialistas. Resultados com base na revisão integrativa de literatura, foram selecionados 91 artigos finais relacionados ao tema de advocacia em saúde e enfermagem e que subsidiaram a definição de quatro temas: Do sentido e elementos fundamentais para a prática de advocacia em enfermagem; Advocacia no ensino e o envolvimento de outros atores do cuidado; Advocacia como obrigação profissional, moral e ética; Advocacia com relação a grupos específicos da população. Os temas contribuíram para a construção dos conteúdos da cartilha educativa. Depois de realizar o envio e a validação por especialistas, foi possível definir a diagramação, dimensão, quantidade de páginas e o design final da cartilha educativa, que será impressa e distribuída aos profissionais e estudantes de enfermagem e disponibilizada online. Conclusões: a elaboração e validação da cartilha contribui para a construção de conhecimentos relacionados à prática profissional da equipe de enfermagem e o exercício da advocacia em saúde.

Validation of a Booklet on the Use of BI-RADS® in Mammography Examination

Background:

The Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS ® ) is an international classification developed to systematize breast assessment, exam interpretation, and the preparation of reports of specific breast imaging exams.

Objective:

The objective of this study was to validate with experts a booklet directed to medical and nursing professionals in the Family Health Strategy on the categorization of Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System in order to describe the reports of mammography.

Methods:

This was a technology-validation study of the methodological-development type. The evaluation was performed with 11 experts, including seven radiologists and four mastologists, four men and seven women, with a mean age of 45 years, meantime of being in the profession of 22 years, and an average 15 years of working experience of in the field.

Results:

The individual, mean, and global Content Validity Index (CVI) was calculated. The booklet was validated with a CVI of 0.89. The suggestions of the experts were analyzed, and some of them were implemented for the final version of the booklet.

Conclusion:

The booklet was validated and will contribute significantly to the daily activities of medical and nursing professionals in the Family Health Strategy in relation to the interpretation of the mammographic report and the orientation regarding the referral, agility, and qualification of the patient to the specialized service.

Elaboration and validation of an e-book with the laws about diabetes in schools

OBJECTIVES

to elaborate an e-book about children and adolescents' rights and duties concerning diabetes in schools.

METHODS

we developed this methodological study in nine steps: Creation process definition, bibliographic survey, e-book elaboration, readability and apprehensibility examination, illustration, committee of judges and targeted audience validation (students' moms with diabetes and school staff), experts' meetings and final discussion. We have considered acceptable the Content Validity Coefficient minimum of 0.80.

RESULTS

we obtained an average Content Validity Coefficient of 0,97 for clarity and relevance, and the images had 94% approval. In the face-to-face test, the targeted audience have considered the material clear and adequate to the intended purpose. Conclusions: the e-book was elaborated and validated regarding the content and relevance, and may be used to instruct the population about diabetes' laws in schools.

Development and validation a nursing care protocol with educational interventions for family caregivers of elderly people after stroke

OBJECTIVE

development and validation the content of a nursing care protocol with educational interventions for family caregivers of elderly people after stroke.

METHODS

a methodological study conducted in three stages: (1) protocol development through literature review; (2) pretest with multidisciplinary team, analyzed with literature articulation; (3) protocol validation by the Delphi Technique.

RESULTS

the protocol was structured in the following areas: Disease Guidelines; Emotional Support; Using the Health Care Network; Diet; Airways; Medications; Hygiene; Skin Care; Disposal; Dressing/Undressing; Positioning and Transfer; Fall Prevention. In the pretest, eight experts assessed protocol clarity and content. In validation, there were two rounds by the Delphi Technique. The validated protocol consisted of 12 domains, containing 42 items and 240 care guidelines.

CONCLUSION

the protocol qualifies the transition of care after hospital discharge assisting nurses in home care practice.

Construção e validação de cartilha educativa sobre exercícios pélvicos fundamentais para mulheres com incontinência urinária

RESUMO A incontinência urinária feminina é uma condição multifatorial caracterizada pela perda involuntária de urina. Para seu manejo, é necessário o fortalecimento da musculatura do assoalho pélvico. Logo, a orientação por meio de material educativo disponível é uma ferramenta essencial para facilitar a transmissão do conteúdo e a adesão da população. Assim, o objetivo do trabalho foi desenvolver e validar uma cartilha educativa sobre exercícios pélvicos fundamentais para mulheres com incontinência urinária. Estudo metodológico, submetido a seis avaliadores experts na área, para a validade de conteúdo do material com o uso do Índice de Validade de Conteúdo (IVC). Posteriormente foi aplicado em 30 mulheres usuárias do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e que realizavam acompanhamento ginecológico nas unidades de saúde para validação com a população-alvo. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa local sob o parecer no 4.099.724. O IVC da cartilha educativa variou de 0,71 a 1,00. Os especialistas fizeram observações referentes à aparência e ao conteúdo do material, as quais foram acatadas para a versão final. No pré-teste, as mulheres entenderam as imagens e o texto, 83,3% julgaram a capa como chamativa e todas concordaram que a sequência, a estrutura organizacional e a construção das frases estavam adequadas. As ilustrações foram de fácil compreensão e 100% afirmaram que foram totalmente abordados os assuntos necessários; a grande maioria (96,6%) relatou motivação para leitura. A cartilha confeccionada mostrou-se adequada para orientação de mulheres com incontinência urinária, pelo seu conteúdo coerente com a realidade e com a necessidade de saúde.

Validation of Questionnaire on Violence in Affective Relationships

The aim was to describe the criteria for construction, validation of content, and appearance of a questionnaire for the identification of violence in affective relationships in adolescence. Transverse methodological study, with a quantitative approach, conducted in the period between June and November 2017, with the construction of a questionnaire and validation of the content and appearance, by means of a Delphi survey with 20 experts on the area of violence and adolescence. To evaluate the clarity and pertinence of the items of the questionnaire, a pilot test was conducted with 76 adolescents, and analysis of the validity of content and reliability of the items by means of Content Validity Index (CVI), the Interrater Agreement (IRA), and the Cronbach alpha. The data were analyzed and processed by means of the Excel and Stata, version 14.0, programs. The indexes calculated in the first round of Delphi provided the following results: CVI = 0.93 and IRA = 0.93, showing evidence of the validity and reliability of the construct content, and in the second round, the questionnaire yielded a percentage of 100% agreement among the professionals and researchers. Verification of the internal consistency presented a mean value of 0.803, calculated by means of the Cronbach alpha. The questionnaire has validity of content and appearance in accordance with the proposed objective, bearing in mind that the indexes of faithfulness and agreement and the Cronbach alpha attained values above those of the established pattern of 80%.

Barriers and enablers to deprescribing benzodiazepines in older adults: elaborating an instrument and validating its content

OBJECTIVE: To elaborate and validate an instrument on barriers and enablers to deprescribing benzodiazepines in the patient’s perspective. METHODS: This study was conducted in 3 stages: (1) a methodological stage, (2) a semi-structured pilot interview with 25 older adults undergoing clonazepam deprescribing, and (3) content validation with the Delphi technique. Content validation was performed by 50 specialists with degrees and/or experience with primary health care and/or health care of older adults, such as physicians, pharmacists, and nurses. For evaluating the obtained results, we analyzed the concordance of evaluations with the coefficient of content validity (CCV). We considered values equal to or higher than 0.8 as acceptable levels of concordance. RESULTS: The instrument was considered validated in the first round of evaluation, where all items obtained a CCV of more than 0.8 in the specialists’ assessment. Nevertheless, they proposed improvements that were incorporated to the final version of the questionnaire. CONCLUSION: The instrument represents an important tool to be used by health care professionals for optimizing benzodiazepine deprescribing, with suitable levels of clarity and validity.

Construction and validation of educational technology to prevent complications in intestinal ostomies / periestomy skin

OBJECTIVE

To build and validate an educational booklet for preventing complications in intestinal ostomy and peristomy skin.

METHODS

Methodological study developed in: 1. Survey of the clinical profile of patients; 2. Integrative review; 3. Construction of technology; 4. Validation of educational material. The Delphi technique was used, with 18 judges with expertise in the field of stomatherapy. For data treatment, the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD), descriptive analysis, Kappa Index (K), binomial test and Content Validity Index (CVI) were used.

RESULTS

The agreement rate between judges was higher than 0.61, for K p> 0.05, a proportion of 80% for the binomial test and 80% for the CVI. . The booklet showed an excellent index for K, binomial test and global content validity, becoming validated.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

The booklet was validated in appearance and content, being an instrument that can favor communication between professionals and people with ostomies.

Elaboração e validação do protocolo de desprescrição do clonazepam em idosos

Introdução: Algumas alterações fisiológicas que ocorrem no indivíduo idoso favorecem o acúmulo e a intoxicação por medicamentos. Dentre estes, podemos citar a classe dos benzodiazepínicos, medicamentos que, apesar de amplamente prescritos, principalmente para tratamento de distúrbios do sono e ansiedade, são considerados potencialmente inapropriados para o uso em idosos. Portanto, a elaboração de protocolos para desprescrição desses medicamentos é estratégia necessária na gestão do cuidado dos pacientes geriátricos. Objetivo: Elaborar e validar um protocolo de desprescrição do clonazepam para idosos que fazem uso deste medicamento para ansiedade ou insônia. Métodos: Estudo metodológico, desenvolvido em duas etapas, sendo elas a elaboração e a validação do protocolo de desprescrição do clonazepam para idosos que fazem uso desse medicamento para ansiedade ou insônia, excetuando-se aqueles que preenchem os critérios de exclusão. A elaboração do protocolo resultou em três produtos: um fluxograma de desprescrição, um folheto sobre higiene do sono e um folheto contendo os benefícios da desprescrição do clonazepam sob supervisão médica. A validação do protocolo foi realizada por médicos especialistas, por meio da Técnica de Delphi. Já na validação dos folhetos, participaram, além dos especialistas, indivíduos com 60 anos ou mais, de ambos os sexos, que não fizessem uso do clonazepam. A partir dos resultados obtidos, foi analisada a concordância da avaliação por meio do Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo (CVC), uma vez que essa ferramenta objetiva medir o grau de concordância dos juízes participantes do processo de validação. Resultados: O fluxograma foi considerado validado após a segunda rodada de avaliação, pois todos os itens avaliados obtiveram CVC igual ou superior a 0,8 nesta rodada. Os folhetos foram considerados validados já na primeira rodada de avaliação, pois todos os itens também obtiveram CVC superior a 0,8 durante esta rodada. Conclusão: Considerando os resultados obtidos, o protocolo se apresenta como uma ferramenta importante ao guiar a conduta médica no processo de desprescrição do clonazepam.

Validação de cartilha sobre cateterização intravenosa periférica para famílias

Objetivo: validar o conteúdo e a aparência da tecnologia didática e instrucional intitulada Punção venosa periférica para família, junto aos familiares acompanhantes de crianças hospitalizadas. Métodos: trata-se de um estudo metodológico do tipo validação de tecnologia. Os participantes foram familiares acompanhantes de crianças hospitalizadas submetidas à cateterização intravenosa periférica. A coleta e a análise dos dados foram realizadas com base no Índice de Validação de Conteúdo, que considera desejável o valor igual ou superior a 0,80.Resultados: a cartilha foi validada na primeira rodada, na qual se obtiveram índices máximos na maioria das variáveis, com índice de validação de conteúdo global igual a 0,98. Entretanto, alguns familiares apontaram alterações a serem feitas no material. Conclusão: objetivo proposto pelo estudo foi alcançado, uma vez que a cartilha está validada quanto ao conteúdo e à aparência de acordo com a avaliação do público-alvo.

Elaboración y validación del contenido y apariencia de la cartilla “punción venosa periférica para la familia”

Introducción: Durante la hospitalización del niño, en algunas situaciones clínicas, se necesita utilizar la Terapia Intravenosa por vía periférica, a través de la instalación de dispositivos intravenosos. Este procedimiento puede causar sentimientos negativos en la crianza, los cuales se pueden amenizar a través del uso de tecnologías didácticas e Instruccionales. De esta forma, el objetivo del estudio consiste en elaborar y validar el contenido y la apariencia de la cartilla titulada “Punción venosa periférica para la familia” con jurados especialistas en el área pediátrica. Materiales y Métodos: Se trata de una investigación metodológica del tipo elaboración y validación de cartilla educativa, realizada con siete jurados a través de la técnica Delphi. Para recolectar los datos se utilizó un instrumento estructurado que contenía variables categorizadas de la siguiente forma: contenido, lenguaje, ilustración, layout, motivación, cultura y aplicabilidad. Se adoptó como valor deseable el Índice de Validación de Contenido igual o superior a 0,80 para cada criterio evaluado. Resultados: En el estudio participaron siete jurados especialistas, todos del sexo femenino, enfermeras, de las cuales cinco son magister, una doctora y una especialista, que se desempeñaban en el campo de la educación, asistencia, investigación y extensión en el área pediátrica. La cartilla fue validada en la primera ronda de evaluación, obteniendo un Índice Global de Validación de Contenido de 0,98. Discusión y Conclusiones: Los jueces consideraron válida la cartilla propuesta en términos de contenido y apariencia, sugiriendo que este recurso educativo tiene potencial para ayudar en la educación en salud sobre la Cateterización Intravenosa Periférica impartida en niños. Construção e validação de conteúdo de cartilha educativa para prevenção de quedas no hospital

Resumo Objetivo Construir e validar cartilha educativa para prevenção de quedas no hospital. Métodos Estudo metodológico desenvolvido a partir da construção, validação e avaliação da cartilha por 22 enfermeiros e 22 pacientes internados em clínica médica. Para a validação com juízes, avaliou-se objetivo, estrutura/apresentação e relevância do material e, na avaliação com pacientes, aplicou-se o instrumento Suitability Assesment of Materials (SAM). Utilizou-se o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo (IVC) para análise de cada etapa da validação, considerando válido os iguais ou superiores a 0,80. Resultados A cartilha intitulada “Cuidados para não cair nessa” é composta por 20 páginas. Na validação de conteúdo, os profissionais atribuíram o IVC global de 1,0 para objetivo, estrutura/apresentação e relevância do material. Na avaliação dos pacientes, o IVC global da cartilha foi de 0,98. Conclusão A cartilha educativa é considerada válida quanto ao conteúdo e compreensível pelos pacientes de forma que possui utilização viável na educação em saúde para prevenção de quedas no hospital.

Development and evaluation of a hearing aid manual in the Malay language

OBJECTIVE

This study aimed to (a) translate a hearing aid (HA) manual into Malay language and revise the translated manual based on best practice guidelines; (b) compare the effectiveness of the translated and the revised Malay HA manuals in helping individuals to perform HA management tasks.

DESIGN

Cross-sectional, randomised, single-blinded study.

STUDY SAMPLE

An Oticon-Dynamo HA manual was translated and revised based on best practice guidelines. Ninety participants aged 55 years and above participated in this study. They were randomly assigned into the control group (received translated manual) and the experimental group (received the revised translated manual). The Hearing Aid Management (HAM) test, which was developed in a previous study, was conducted to evaluate participant's ability to perform HA management tasks using the translated and the revised version of Malay HA manual.

RESULTS

The revised Malay HA manual had a lower reading grade level relative to the initial translated Malay HA manual. The ability to perform HA management tasks was better in the experimental group (mean = 12.2, SD = 1.15) versus the control group (mean = 8.7, SD = 2.11).

CONCLUSION

Further revision of existing HA manuals based on best practice guidelines is recommended to help individuals better manage their HAs.

Creation and validation of a health guidance booklet for family members of children with sickle cell disease

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to elaborate a booklet for health follow-up and guidance on sickle cell disease for relatives of children with this disease and validate it. It is a methodological study, conducted from May 2017 to February 2018, of the elaboration and validation of an educational technology, constructed from previous field research in a pediatric hospital in Ceará (ethical opinion nº 994.879 and nº 955.727). Validation of content and appearance occurred by specialized, technical and communication judges; after the adjustments, the evaluation by representatives of the target public took place. The analysis was through the Concordance Index. Results: the evaluation of technical judges and experts reached a Global Concordance Index of 0.93, characterizing the book as good quality. The judges of communication evaluated all items as Superior. As for family members, everyone agreed that the book was adequate. It is concluded that the booklet has been duly drawn up and validated as regards its content and its appearance. Implications for practice: this educational technology is an important instrument to be used by health professionals, aiming to contribute to increase the knowledge of the relatives of children with sickle cell disease.

Atividade sexual na lesão medular: construção e validação de cartilha educativa

Resumo Objetivo Descrever o processo de construção e validação de uma cartilha educativa sobre atividade sexual de pessoas com lesão medular. Métodos Estudo metodológico em quatro etapas: pesquisa documental em blogs, revisão integrativa, construção da cartilha educativa, validação de conteúdo com 11 juízes, validação de aparência técnica com 3 juízes e validação de aparência com 37 pessoas do público-alvo. Considerou-se o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo (IVC) mínimo de 0,80. Resultados A cartilha apresentou IVC global de 0,91 pelos juízes profissionais de saúde; 0,87 pelos juízes designers gráficos; e 0,94 na validação de aparência pelo público-alvo. Entretanto, os juízes e público-alvo propuseram sugestões de melhorias da cartilha, que foram acatadas e modificadas para versão final do material. Conclusão A cartilha apresentou conteúdo e aparência adequados para promoção da atividade sexual saudável e satisfatória da pessoa com lesão medular.
