Abstract
Background Having more than job and physical exhaustion derived from the job demands considerably overload workers and impair their quality of life (QoL). These factors might interfere with the health of this population of workers reflecting as work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Aim To investigate the correlation between musculoskeletal symptoms and QoL among workers at the intensive care unit of a public hospital in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. Methods Cross-sectional quantitative, observational and analytical study performed with 30 workers at a public hospital ICU. WHOQOL-BREF, the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and a sample profile instrument were administered by the investigators during the working hours. Results 86.7% of the sample reported pain in at least one body side, particularly in the knees in the past 7 seven days (23.3%) and in the lower back in the past 12 months (50%). The participants' QoL was reasonable. We found significant moderate correlation between pain and WHOQOL domains physical health (p=0.10) and social relationships (p=0.011) but no correlation with the participants general characteristics. Conclusion Occurrence of musculoskeletal symptoms might interfere with the QoL, social life and performance at work of ICU workers.

Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the experience of working women suffering from chronic musculoskeletal pain, using a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. The technique drew on in-depth interviews with five working women that presented to the orthopedics and neurosurgery departments of a hospital in Guadalajara, Mexico, with a complaint of musculoskeletal pain for more than six months. The study showed that the women felt rejection, segregation, discrimination, lack of support at the workplace, and feelings of frustration and powerlessness related to their health condition. The women also perceived as a barrier the lack of efficiency in disability proceedings and job reintegration or relocation. Financial and family responsibilities were their main reason for continuing to work despite their chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Abstract
The health of primary care workers is still a poorly addressed area of study in Brazil. The scope of this study was to describe the standard of self-reported morbidity by workers in Family Health Teams (FHT) in the northeastern macro-region of the state of Minas Gerais. A cross-sectional study was conducted with self-applied questionnaires, including socio-demographical data, labor and health conditions, among all workers in FHT. Self-reported morbidity was categorized based on the International Classification of Primary Care, version 2. Information was collected from 1,731 workers in 204 primary health care units. The group was predominantly comprised of female community health workers. The prevalence of at least one health problem was 26.1% for women and 18.3% for men. The main health problems were related to circulatory, musculoskeletal, respiratory, endocrine-metabolic and nervous systems. After multiple analysis, the variables associated with health problems were related to being female, aged 30 years or more and being on the team for 5 years or longer. The morbidity reported by the FHT workers is similar to that observed for the population in general, highlighting the need for strategies to promote the health of these workers as well.

Abstract
The objectives of this study were to identify the perceptions of nursing workers regarding the handling of hazardous chemical waste at the University of São Paulo University Hospital (HU-USP), and develop a proposal to improve safety measures. This study used a qualitative approach and a convenience sample consisting of eighteen nursing workers. Data collection was performed through focal groups. Thematic analysis revealed four categories that gave evidence of training deficiencies in terms of the stages of handling waste. Difficulties that emerged included a lack of knowledge regarding exposure and its impact, the utilization of personal protective equipment versus collective protection, and suggestions regarding measures to be taken by the institution and workers for the safe handling of hazardous chemical waste. The present data allowed for recommending proposals regarding the safe management of hazardous chemical waste by the nursing staff.

Abstract

Abstract
This study describes the prevalence of self-medication and associated factors among nursing workers. This epidemiological sectional study included 1,509 working nurses from two public hospitals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The medications were identified and classified according to the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Index. The self-medication prevalence was 24.2% and the most reported anatomical group treated was the nervous system, while the therapeutic group included analgesics. Self-medication was more prevalent among young people, individuals with minor psychiatric disturbances, non-hypertensive individuals, those who did not exercise, those who reported a disease or injury in the last 15 days, with the highest number of self-diagnosed diseases, nurses, professionals with temporary work contracts and those highly involved with their work. Self-medication is a frequent practice among the nursing team members and is associated with factors that should be taken into account when planning strategies aimed at improving workers' health conditions.
