Abstract
This study aimed to develop a hydroxyethyl cellulose-based topical formulation containing probiotics and to evaluate its antimicrobial action using in vivo and ex vivo models. Initially, the antagonistic effects of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus ATCC 10863, Limosilactobacillus fermentum ATCC 23271, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ATCC 8014 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LP-G18-A11 were analyzed against Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 700603, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 27853 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 2785. The best action was seen for L. plantarum LP-G18-A11, which presented high inhibition against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. Then, lactobacilli strains were incorporated into hydroxyethyl cellulose-based gels (natrosol); however, only the LP-G18-A11-incorporated gels (5% and 3%) showed antimicrobial effects. The LP-G18-A11 gel (5%) maintained its antimicrobial effects and viability up to 14 and 90 days at 25 °C and 4 °C, respectively. In the ex vivo assay using porcine skin, the LP-G18-A11 gel (5%) significantly reduced the skin loads of S. aureus and P. aeruginosa after 24 h, while only P. aeruginosa was reduced after 72 h. Moreover, the LP-G18-A11 gel (5%) showed stability in the preliminary and accelerated assays. Taken together, the results show the antimicrobial potential of L. plantarum LP-G18-A11, which may be applied in the development of new dressings for the treatment of infected wounds.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Healing the full-thickness skin wounds has remained a challenge. One of the most frequently used grafts for skin regeneration is xenogeneic acellular dermal matrices (ADMs), including bovine ADMs. This study investigated the effect of the source animal age, enzymatic versus non-enzymatic decellularization protocols, and gamma irradiation versus ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization on the scaffold. METHODS ADMs were prepared using the dermises of fetal bovine or calf skins. All groups were decellularized through chemical and mechanical methods, unless T-FADM samples, in which an enzymatic step was added to the decellularization protocol. All groups were sterilized with ethylene oxide (EO), except G-FADM which was sterilized using gamma irradiation. The scaffolds were characterized through scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, tensile test, MTT assay, DNA quantification, and real-time PCR. The performance of the ADMs in wound treatment was also evaluated macroscopically and histologically. RESULTS All ADMs were effectively decellularized. In comparison to FADM (EO-sterilized fetal ADM), morphological, and mechanical properties of G-FADM, T-FADM, and CADM (EOsterilized calf ADM) were changed to different extents. In addition, the CADM and G-FADM were thermally more stable than the FADM and T-FADM. Although all ADMs were noncytotoxic, the wounds of the FADM, T-FADM, and G-FADM groups were contracted to almost 30.0% of the original area on day 7, significantly faster than the CADM (17.5% ± 1.7) and control (12.2% ± 1.59) groups. However, by day 21, all ADMs were mostly closed except for the untreated group (60.1 ± 1.8). CONCLUSION Altogether, fetal source and EO-sterilized samples performed better than calf source and gamma-sterilized samples unless in some mechanical properties. There was no added value in using enzymatic treatment during the decellularization process. Our results suggest that the age, decellularization, and sterilization methods of animal source should be selected based on the clinical requirements.

Abstract
Background Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting the pilosebaceous units characterized by recurrent comedones, erythematous papules and pustules. The disease is benign however may produce scarring, erythema, and hyperpigmentation resulting in physical and psychological problems. Conventional therapy may reduce the symptoms of AV nevertheless, has a possibility of resistance, unwanted side effects, and has high cost. Thus, utilizing natural remedies may be a useful. Methods The data in this study were collect by search the keyword combinations of medical subject heading (mesh) of "inhibition", "antimicrobial", "banana peel", "acne vulgaris" and "antiinflammation" and relevant reference lists were manually searched in PubMed, EMBRASE and Scopus database. All relevant articles in data base above were included and narratively discussed in this review article. Objective To discuss the bioactive potential of banana peel as an inflammatory modulator in acne vulgaris. Results Banana peel contains many bioactive compounds, particularly phenolic and non-phenolic antioxidants (ascorbic acid, carotene, and cyanidin) which are pivotal in removing inflammatory products by inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS), protecting protease inhibitors from oxidative damage, and preventing fibroblasts degradation. Banana peel also contains anti-inflammatory agents such as trigonelline which inhibits bacterial enzymes and nucleic acid synthesis; isovanillic acid which suppresses TNF-α production; and ferulic acid which inhibits the production of proinflammatory signaling and cytokines. Conclusion Banana peel contains many bioactive compounds which demonstrate anti-inflammatory properties through several processes of the inflammatory pathway. However further research is needed to confirm this finding.

Abstract
The past 20 years has seen rapid development of value-added food products. Using largely wasted fruit by-products has created a potential for sustainable use of these edible materials. The high levels of antioxidant activity, phenolic compounds, dietary fibres and resistant starch in banana pulp and peel have made this tropical fruit an outstanding source of nutritive ingredient for enrichment of foodstuffs. Accordingly, processing of separate banana parts into flour has been of interest by many researchers using different methods (oven drying, spouted bed drier, ultrasound, pulsed vacuum oven, microwave, spray drying and lyophilization). Regarding the high level of bioactive compounds, especially resistant starch in banana flour, the application of its flour in starchy foods provides a great opportunity for product development, even in gluten free foods. This review aims to provide concise evaluation of the health benefits of banana bioactive components and covers a wide range of literature conducted on the application of different parts of banana and the flour produced at various ripeness stages in the food industry. Of particular interest, the impact of drying methods on banana flour properties are discussed.
