Abstract
AIM The aim of this study is to compare the fracture resistance of canine teeth restored using TRINIA Endocrowns with three different types of preparations (2, 3, and 4 intracanal preparations). MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty maxillary-extracted canines were collected. All teeth were fixed in orthodontic acrylic resin and decapitated at the level of the proximal cemento-enamel junction (CEJ). After being endodontically treated, specimens were distributed equally between 3 groups (n = 10) with different preparation depths (GT: 2 mm Intraradicular Preparation, GH: 3 mm Intraradicular Preparation, GF: 4 mm Intraradicular Preparation). Thirty TRINIA endocrowns were dry milled. After surface treatment, all endocrowns were bonded to their corresponding roots using Permaflo a dual-cure resin cement. Each specimen was then fixed in the lower part of a universal testing machine with a load cell of 5 KN, at an angle of 45 degrees to the tooth long-axis at 0.5 mm/min crosshead speed. Failure loads were recorded in Newton's. Data were recorded, organized, and statistically investigated. RESULTS Shapiro-Wilk tests revealed that the data were not normally distributed. Descriptive statistics revealed a high mean fracture resistance of GH (647 N), then GT (475.6 N), and finally GF (353.9 N). The Kruskal-Wallis test revealed a significant difference that existed between the groups being studied (p = 0.036). CONCLUSION TRINIA endocrowns with intracanal preparations of 2 and 3 mm provide more promising fracture resistance than those with intracanal preparations of 4 mm as a way of treating of root-canal-treated maxillary canines. TRINIA endocrowns (2 and 3 mm intracanal preparations) are as promising as fiber posts and all ceramic crowns in terms of fracture resistance. TRINIA endocrowns with 2 mm intracanal preparations are mostly reparable after failure, but those of 3 and 4 mm are mostly irreparable after failure. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Modifying endocrowns to have intraradicular projections, simulating Nayyar core, may improve the success and longevity of endocrowns in anterior teeth. Abstract
Objectives This study was conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties of relined and non-relined fiberglass posts when cemented to root canal dentin using a conventional dual-cure resin cement or a self-adhesive resin cement. Materials and Methods Two types of resin cements were utilized: conventional and self-adhesive. Additionally, 2 cementation protocols were employed, involving relined and non-relined fiberglass posts. In total, 72 bovine incisors were cemented and subjected to push-out bond strength testing (n = 10) followed by failure mode analysis. The cross-sectional microhardness (n = 5) was assessed along the root canal, and interface analyses (n = 3) were conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data from the push-out bond strength and cross-sectional microhardness tests were analyzed via 3-way analysis of variance and the Bonferroni post-hoc test (α = 0.05). Results For non-relined fiberglass posts, conventional resin cement exhibited higher push-out bond strength than self-adhesive cement. Relined fiberglass posts yielded comparable results between the resin cements. Type II failure was the most common failure mode for both resin cements, regardless of cementation protocol. The use of relined fiberglass posts improved the cross-sectional microhardness values for both cements. SEM images revealed voids and bubbles in the incisors with non-relined fiberglass posts. Conclusions Mechanical properties were impacted by the cementation protocol. Relined fiberglass posts presented the highest push-out bond strength and cross-sectional microhardness values, regardless of the resin cement used (conventional dual-cure or self-adhesive). Conversely, for non-relined fiberglass posts, the conventional dual-cure resin cement yielded superior results to the self-adhesive resin cement.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The use of a fiber glass post (FGP) type and choice of FGP diameter to restore endodontically treated incisors without ferrule is controversial. This study evaluated survival rate and failure mode of severely compromised central incisors without ferrule rehabilitated using resin-based composite (RBC) with or without FGP with different diameters. METHODOLOGY A total of 60 decoronated bovine incisors without a ferrule were endodontically treated and prepared for 1.4, 1.6, and 1.8 mm diameter FGPs (Whitepost System DC 0.5, Fit 0.4, and DCE 0.5; FGM). Half of the teeth received FGPs cemented using dual-cure resin cement (Allcem Core; FGM), the other half were filled using only bulk-fill RBC (OPUS Bulk Fill; FGM). The crowns were directly restored with RBC. The roots were embedded in polystyrene resin and the periodontal ligament was simulated with polyether impression material. Fatigue testing was conducted under 5 Hz cyclic loading at 30 degrees to the incisal edge, beginning at 50 N (5,000 cycles) as a warmup. After, the load was increased 100 N every 15,000 cycles until fracture occurred. All specimens were subjected to transillumination, micro-CT analysis, and digital radiography before and after fatigue testing. Fracture mode was classified according to severity and repair potential. Data were analyzed with Kaplan-Meier survival test and post hoc log-rank test (α=0.05) for pairwise comparisons. RESULTS Using FGP significantly increased the number of cycles to failure, irrespective of FGP diameters (p=0.001). The FGP diameters had no statistically significant effect on cycles to failure or failure mode. CONCLUSION Using FGP without ferrule improved survival rate of structurally severely compromised central incisors compared with rehabilitation without FGP. The diameter of the FGPs had no effect on the survival rate and failure mode.

Abstract
Purpose This study investigates the fracture and retention strength of all-ceramic crowns with modified composite resin and ceramic cores compared to conventional casted post and core systems. Materials and Methods A prepared human central tooth was initially scanned to design and 3D print the post and core. Subsequently, 40 bovine teeth were adjusted to accommodate the fabricated post and cores. They were then divided into four groups of 10 each: group 1 comprised cast cores without cover (control group), group 2 involved cast cores reduced and replaced with IPS Empress material (IPS group), group 3 consisted of cast cores covered with opaque composite (composite group), and group 4 included cast cores covered with opaque ceramic (ceramic group). Zirconia crowns were cemented onto all samples. After an aging process, pull-off and fracture strength tests were conducted. Fracture strength was determined by applying a compressive force at an angle of 135° to the tooth's longitudinal axis until the fracture occurred. For retention strength assessment, a universal testing machine with a 10 mm/min crosshead speed was employed. The resulting data underwent statistical analysis utilizing two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results The analysis revealed no significant difference in fracture strength among the groups (P-value = 0.997). However, the retention strength of the control and IPS groups was significantly higher than that of the other groups. Conclusion There were no discernible distinctions among the three study methods regarding fracture strength. Nonetheless, the retention strength of the IPS group resembled that of the control group, surpassing that of the composite and ceramic groups.

Abstract
Objectives This in vitro study aimed to evaluate and compare the fracture resistance and mode of failure of endodontically treated maxillary premolar teeth restored with different direct composite restorative techniques. Materials and Methods Forty freshly extracted maxillary premolar teeth with comparable sizes were used in this in vitro study. Each tooth received mesio-occluso-distal cavity preparation (3 mm width and 6 mm depth) followed by endodontic treatment. Canals were instrumented with RACE EVO rotary files (FKG, Dentaire, Switzerland) up to MAF 25/.06. Canals were obturated using a single cone technique, then the teeth were divided arbitrarily into five groups (n = 8): Group A: direct composite resin only using a centripetal technique, Group B: direct composite resin with glass fiber post, Group C: direct composite resin with short fiber-reinforced composite (everX Flow), Group D: direct composite resin with leno wave ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (LWUHMWPE) fibers placed on cavity floor, and Group E: direct composite resin with LWUHMWPE fibers placed circumferentially around the cavity walls (wallpapering technique). The teeth were then stored in distilled water at 37°C for 24 hr. The fracture resistance of each sample was measured using a universal testing machine in Newton (N). The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Bonferroni test with a significance level of 0.05. Results Group E recorded the maximum mean of fracture load (2,139.375 N), while Group A recorded the minimum mean of fracture load (689.6250 N). The one-way ANOVA test revealed a significant difference between the groups. The Bonferroni test showed a significant difference between each two groups, with the exception of those between Groups B and C and between Groups D and E, where there were no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05). Conclusion Restoration of endodontically treated teeth using the wallpapering technique recorded the highest mean of fracture resistance with a repairable mode of fracture.

Abstract
Objective. To investigate the effect of different post materials and adaptability on fracture resistance and fracture mode of endodontically treated teeth. Materials and Methods. Sixty extracted human mandibular premolars were selected and divided into 6 groups (n = 10) according to the restorative method after endodontic treatment: no ferrule presented and restored without fiber post (Group C), 2.0 mm ferrule presented and restored without fiber post (Group CF), restored with D.T. Light-Post (Group PDT), restored with anatomically customized D.T. Light-Post, relined with resin composite (Group ADT), restored with Hi-Rem prosthetic post (Group PHR), and restored with anatomically customized Hi-Rem prosthetic post, relined with resin composite (Group AHR). After restoring with core build-up materials, all specimens were loaded at 45° in a universal testing machine until failure. Visual inspection of all specimens for fracture modes was performed. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, and the fracture mode was reviewed using the chi-square test. Results. Anatomically customized groups presented statistically significant higher fracture resistance than prefabricated groups and group C (

). Group C, CF, PDT, and PHR showed some specimens with unfavorable fractures. Conclusions. Anatomically customized posts presented highest fracture resistance among all groups. There was no significant difference in fracture mode across all groups.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the bond strength of four types of posts (pre-fabricated fiberglass post, fiberglass post anatomized with composite resin, milled fiberglass post, and milled polyetheretherketone (PEEK) post), and two types of resin cements (conventional and self-adhesive) by assessing immediate bond strength and post-mechanical aging at each root third. MATERIALS AND METHODS Bovine endodontically treated roots (16 groups, n = 8) were prepared and the posts were produced and luted; the specimens of aging groups were cycled (300,000 cycles under 50 N load at 1.2 Hz frequency); six slices of each root were obtained; push-out test was performed by using a universal testing machine (500 N load at 1 mm/min cross speed); fracture pattern was classified into five levels. The statistical analyses used were three-way ANOVA, Tukey's test (for bond strength), and Fisher's test (for fracture pattern) (α < 0.05). RESULTS Differences were found between the cements for posts (conventional: p < 0.001; self-adhesive: p = 0.002), whereas no difference was found for root region (p = 0.941; p = 0.056, respectively); analysis of each root showed significant differences for cements (p < 0.001), posts (p < 0.001), and mechanical cycling (p = 0.001); in terms of double interaction, differences were found for posts and mechanical cycling (p = 0.005); no other interactions were observed (double or triple); the fracture pattern showed difference between the groups for both cements. CONCLUSIONS Milled PEEK posts seem to be a good clinical option, but they require improvement of CAD-CAM technology and advances towards their adhesion. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Milled posts are promising and can reduce clinical time for rehabilitation of extensively destroyed teeth.

Abstract
Aim: Intraradicular post systems have become an important treatment method for endodontically treated teeth as they provide retention for restoration to the remaining tooth structure. The objective of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of different fiber post-application techniques on the fracture resistance of premolars with flared root canals and no ferrule. Materials and Methods: Sixty freshly extracted, single-rooted mandibular premolars with no ferrule were endodontically treated by an experienced endodontist, and their root canals were experimentally flared. The specimens with flared root canals were divided into five groups according to fiber post-application techniques ( n = 12): a prefabricated fiber post (G1), G1 + two auxiliary posts (G2), i-TFC post system (G3), G1 + quartz splint (G4), and Ribbond (G5). The data were analyzed with analysis of variance and Tukey tests. Results: The findings were revealed that no significant difference was found among four groups, except G5 ( P > .05), which demonstrated the lowest fracture resistance ( P < .05). G2, G3, G4, and G5 exhibited dominantly restorable fracture pattern, whereas G1 exhibited nonrestorable fracture pattern. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, the placement of auxiliary posts, i-TFC post system, quartz splint placement, and Ribbond increased the incidence of restorable fracture compared with the controls.

Abstract
The preset shape and diameter of a prefabricated FRC post rarely follows the anatomy of the root canal. To solve this problem, a new hollow sleeve composite (HSC) system for post-core construction was developed and characterized. A woven fiber was impregnated with two types of resins: Bis-GMA or PMMA, and rolled into cylinders with outer diameter of 2 mm and two different inner diameters, namely 1.2 or 1.5 mm. The commercial i-TFC system was used as a control. Dual-cure resin composite was injected into these sleeves. Additionally, conventional solid fiber post was used as the inner part of the sleeve. The three-point bending test was used to measure the mechanical properties of the specimens and the fracture surface was examined using an electron microscope (SEM). The HSC (1.5 mm, Bis-GMA) revealed a statistically similar flexural modulus but higher flexural strength (437 MPa) compared to i-TFC (239 MPa; ANOVA, p < 0.05). When a fiber post was added inside, all values had a tendency to increase. After hydrothermal accelerated aging, the majority of specimens showed a significant (p < 0.05) decrease in flexural strength and modulus. SEM fracture analysis confirmed that the delamination occurred at the interface between the outer and inner materials. The HSC system provided flexibility but still high mechanical values compared to the commercial system. Thus, this system might offer an alternative practical option for direct post-core construction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the fracture strength and failure modes of different core techniques in teeth with simulated coronal destruction. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty teeth were endodontically prepared and the specimens were divided into four experimental groups (n = 10) according to the core composition: Filtek One Bulk Fill-FOBF, Filtek Z350 XT-FZ350 (standard group), Filtek Bulk Fill Flow-FBFF, and LuxaCore Z-LCZ. CAD/CAM Monolithic zirconia crowns were obtained and cemented with RelyX U200. After storage in distilled water at 37°C for 48 h, the specimens were subjected to thermal cycling and to compressive strength mechanical tests. Statistical analyses (α = 0.05) were performed by non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis, Dunn post hoc, and Fisher's exact tests. RESULTS No significant differences (p > 0.05) were observed among FOBF, FZ350, and FBFF (mean ranks = 20.30, 12.20, and 23.20, respectively). LCZ (mean rank = 26.30) produced results similar to those of FOBF and FBFF (p > 0.05) and higher than those of FZ350 (p = 0.042). The most frequent type of failure was irreparable, regardless of the experimental condition. The lowest percentages of reparable fractures were produced by FOBF group (10%). CONCLUSIONS The use of bulk fill materials, including the "core-and-post" LCZ dual-cure resin composite, did not impair the fracture strength of endodontically treated teeth with coronal destruction. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Resin composite bulk fill materials that can be used as a core-and-post cementation in an only stage are interesting, since they enable clinicians to work with one only material, and avoid several materials interfaces, technical sensitivity, and longer chair-time due to multistep procedures.

Abstract
The prevention of root fractures of pulpless teeth is an important clinical issue to maintain healthy teeth through lifetime. The aim of this study was to examine a clinically effective treatment method for strengthening vulnerable pulpless teeth using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) fiber-reinforced post-core by conducting a fracture resistance test. A post-core made with a fiber-reinforced resin disk TRINIA (TR, SHOFU, Kyoto, Japan) was fabricated using a CAD/CAM system. The fiber-layer orientation of the CAD/CAM post-core was parallel to the axis of the restored tooth. A post-core using a conventional composite and a fiber post (CF) was also prepared. A fracture resistance test of teeth restored with the post-cores and zirconia crowns was conducted using a universal testing machine, and fracture patterns were identified by micro-CT observation. The fracture load of the roots restored with TR was 1555.9 ± 231.8 N, whereas that of CF was 1082.1 ± 226.7 N. The fracture load of TR was 43.8% that was significantly higher than that of CF (Student's t-test, p < 0.05). The restored teeth with CAD/CAM resin post-core were found to be repairable even after fracture. These results suggest that the CAD/CAM indirect fiber post-core has the potential to strengthen the vulnerable pulpless teeth.

Abstract
Objective This ex vivo study aimed to evaluate the strengthening effect of different ferrule and reattachment designs with fiber and adhesive materials on vertically fractured teeth. Methods Ninety extracted single-root premolars were instrumented and divided into nine groups (two control groups and seven experimental groups; n = 10). The negative control (NC) group comprised of intact teeth, while the positive control (PC) group comprised of root canal-treated teeth. The roots of the teeth in the experimental groups were vertically fractured into two equal fragments. The fragments were reattached with one of the followings: 4-methacryloxyethyl trimellitate anhydride/methacrylate-tri-n-butyl borane (4-META/MMA-TBB) resin, 4-META/MMA-TBB + quartz fiber post, 4-META/MMA-TBB + glass fiber bundles, 4-META/MMA-TBB + quartz fiber post + 1 mm ferrule, 4-META/MMA-TBB + glass fiber bundles + 1 mm ferrule, 4-META/MMA-TBB + quartz fiber post + 2 mm ferrule, and 4-META/MMA-TBB + glass fiber bundles + 2 mm ferrule. The core build-ups were made with composite resin. The specimens were subjected to compressive loading until failure occurred. Mean load necessary to fracture each sample and the fracture types of these samples were recorded. Results The highest mean fracture load was recorded in the NC group (1,036.7 N), which was not significantly higher than the PC group (989.66 N) (p > 0.05). The roots reattached with quartz fiber post demonstrated significantly less fracture strength (871.9 N) as compared to the other test and control groups (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the PC group and reattached fragments with different ferrule designs in terms of fracture resistance (p > 0.05). Conclusions The customized fiber bundles may be more suitable for reattachment of vertically fractured teeth than the rigid fiber posts. For reattachment procedures, the ferrule design may be preferred to increase the fracture strength of vertically fractured teeth.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To perform a systematic review of the literature focused to evaluate in vitro function of prefabricated fiber posts with and without customization by additional auxillary fiber posts and composite resin on the fracture strength of wide or enlarged canals and the failure pattern. METHODS Six databases were used as primary search sources (PubMed, Scopus, LILACS, SciELO, Science Direct, and Web of Science) and three databases (Open Grey, Open Thesis, and OATD) were used to partially capture the "grey literature". The research included laboratory studies that used human upper anterior teeth aiming to assess the fracture strength and failure pattern of different glass fiber post customizations by additional auxiliary fiber posts or composite resin. The search had no restriction of year, language, and publication status. The risk of bias of the studies was assessed from the criteria established in systematic reviews of laboratory studies. Standardized mean differences were calculated by comparing the mean fracture strengths of customized and non-customized posts. Pooled estimates were calculated by Glass' delta method using the random-effects model. Subtotal estimates were presented according to each type of relining procedure and an overall estimate was described considering all studies combined. RESULTS The search provided 2291 results, from which six met the eligibility criteria and were included in the qualitative assessment of the review. Only three studies presented a moderate risk of bias. The meta-analysis results showed that the use of auxiliary posts produced higher mean fracture strengths than non-customized posts (SMD = 2.21; 95%CI: 0.74; 3.68), and it was more effective than the use of composite resin to reline the posts. CONCLUSION Based on laboratories studies, even though has not been observed any difference to a statistically significant level on fracture strength and failure pattern of the customized and non-customized post, future studies should follow a standardized approach to implementation and reporting of data.

Abstract
This clinical report describes the rehabilitation procedure of an upper central tooth with a coronal fracture without compromising the root. The treatment plan consisted of the reinsertion of the fractured fragment as a definitive cemented biological restoration. Due to the deficient remnant, a fiber-reinforced composite post was used. The objective of this clinical case was to report the biological behavior of the enamel and dentin of a biological restoration after dental trauma. Patient satisfaction with the treatment was achieved by continuing with the same tooth and biomimetizing the fracture line with conventional composites. Controls were conducted, and 1 year after dental trauma, no color changes in dental tissues and no inflammation in periodontal and soft tissues were observed.

Abstract
Many patients with large-area tooth defect need cast post-core crown restoration. However, the color defect of the cast post-core will affect the final restorative result, especially that of the anterior teeth. A new technology of color masking by applying CERAMAGE polymeric porcelain to the cast metal post-core surface improves the color of a full-ceramic restoration of anterior teeth and may provide a new alternative for the aesthetic repair of anterior teeth with a large area of defective tooth.

Abstract
SUMMARY
Purpose:
To investigate the influence of ferrule thickness on fracture resistance after mechanical cycling of teeth restored with different intracanal posts.
Methods and Materials:
One hundred twenty bovine incisor teeth were randomized into six study groups, based on the intracanal post used (fiber post or cast post and core) and the presence and thickness of a ferrule (without ferrule, presence of 0.5-mm or 1-mm-thick ferrule, retaining unaltered 2-mm ferrule height). The root posts and the metal crowns were cemented using an adhesive cement. The samples were subjected to mechanical cycling (at 37°C, 45°, 130 N, 2.2 Hz, and 2 × 106 pulses). Afterward, they were subjected to a fracture load test at a speed of 0.5 mm/min and on a 45° slope until failure occurred. The failures were classified as favorable or unfavorable. The fracture resistance data were analyzed with two-way analysis of variance and Tukey test. The chi-square test was used to analyze the pattern of failure.
Results:
When considering the cast post and core, the 1-mm ferrule thickness group presented a higher resistance to fracture than did the group in which a ferrule was not used (p=0.001). When using a glass fiber post, the groups showed no differences in fracture resistance. Overall, 96.7% of the specimens survived the mechanical cycling. Of the fractures, 58.6% of the fractures were unfavorable, while 41.6% were favorable.
Conclusions:
A thicker ferrule statistically increased the fracture resistance only for cast post and core when it was at least 1 mm thick, despite causing more unfavorable failures. Thus, ferrule thickness should be considered when choosing different intracanal posts, to reduce the occurrence of unfavorable failures. In the absence of a ferrule, the use of a cast post and core presents more favorable failures, and in the presence of a 1-mm-thick ferrule, the use of a glass fiber post seems to be the best clinical decision.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM The biomechanical behavior of post-restored roots with an experimental fiber-reinforced composite resin is unknown. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the biomechanical behavior of an experimental composite resin (3-mm short glass fiber incorporated in methacrylate matrix with filler particles) used to produce the custom post itself or to reline fiber posts. MATERIAL AND METHODS Four testing groups (n=10) were created according to the root restoration method: FG, commercially available fiber post; FG+RC, fiber post relined with conventional composite resin; FG+EXP, fiber post relined with the experimental composite resin; and EXP, a custom post made of experimental composite resin. A three-dimensional finite element linear elastic analysis was performed by using geometric representations of groups, and the results were analyzed by von Mises (σvM) and maximum principal stress criteria. In sequence, 40 bovine incisors were assigned to these groups and subjected to a fracture load test (Instron 5965; 0.5 mm/min), and the failure mode was determined. RESULTS The EXP group showed more homogeneous stress distribution for σvM. ANOVA and the Tukey honestly significant difference (HSD) tests showed significant differences (P<.001) in fracture load (mean ±standard deviation; different superscript letters indicate statistical difference): FG+EXP (669.5 ±107.7)A; FG (620.7 ±59.2)A; EXP (506.5 ±27.0)B; FG+RC (452.7 ±81.6)B. No differences were found for failure mode (P=.595). CONCLUSIONS The experimental composite resin significantly increases fracture load when used to reline commercially available fiber posts and, irrespective of its use, presented lower stress concentration.

Abstract
This study was designed to compare the impact of post and core systems on resistance to fracture of endodontically treated anterior teeth with flared root canals and to assess their fracture pattern. Sixty central incisors were cut horizontally 2 mm coronal to the cementoenamel junction (CEJ). After root canal therapy, teeth were assigned into 6 groups (n=10 each) based on a post system and used as follows: Group C, non-flared root received size #1 glass fiber posts (Control); Group AP, flared root restored with anatomical post; Group RC, flared root restored with size #1 fiber post and cemented with thick layer of resin cement; Group CR, flared root restored with size #1 and reinforced with composite resin; Group CM, cast post-core; Group CP, CAD/CAM polymer-infiltrated ceramic post and core. Following post cementation, core build-up and crown insertion, the specimens were thermo-cycled up to 10,000 cycles (5C/55C; 30 seconds dwell time, 6 seconds transition time) and then statically loaded at 1 mm/minute crosshead speed using a universal testing machine. One-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD post hoc test (α=0.05) were used for data analysis. Group C recorded significantly higher resistance to fracture values [(826.9±39.1) N] followed by group CP [(793.8±55.6) N] while group RC yielded the lowest fracture resistance values [(586.7±51.4) N]. The resistance to fracture of wide root canals can be enhanced by using one-piece CAM/CAM post and core as an alternative to the use of either glass fiber post, relined with composite resin increasing the thickness of luting cement or the use of cast post and core system. However, this was an in vitro investigation and further in vivo studies are necessary.

Abstract
Background To evaluate the stress distribution in a maxillary central incisor with different post and cores made of six CAD/CAM materials with different elastic modulus in the absence of ferrule using the finite element analysis. Material and Methods A three-dimensional endodontically treated maxillary central incisor restored with an all-ceramic crown was modelled in Rhinoceros (5.0 SR8, McNeel). The geometries were analyzed in ANSYS 17.2 (ANSYS Inc.) considering isotropic, homogeneous, linearly elastic materials with perfectly bonded contacts. The elastic moduli (E) of the post-and-cores defined the groups to be compared: nanoceramic resin (E=12.8GPa); composite resin (E=16GPa); hybrid ceramic (E=34.7GPa); lithium disilicate (E=95GPa); titanium (Ti-Al6-V4) (E=112GPa); and Y-TZP material (E=209.3GPa). The set was constrained in the cortical bone and loaded (45°/100 N) on the incisor palatine face. Stress distribution was analyzed by Maximum Principal Stress criteria for the crown-core cement line, Post-and-core's cement line, Post-and-core system and Dentin. Results The stress distribution at the crown-core cement line (11.4 - 13.2 MPa) was inversely proportional to the increase of the elastic modulus of the post-core approaches, while it was direct proportional on the post-and-core (4.7 - 40 MPa) and cement line (4.1 - 6.2 MPa). Stress distribution on the dentin was similar for all groups (24.7 - 25.3). Conclusions Post-and-core made by CAD/CAM seems to be an efficient treatment alternative, since it is a conservative approach, promotes better aesthetic quality and it allows the control of the cement line thickness. Abstract Introduction Endodontically treated teeth are more susceptible to root fracture than vital teeth. In order to reduce the risk of fracture, the use of intra-radicular posts and crowns is indicated. However, their own fracture resistance remains unclear. Objective To analyze the behavior of metal-ceramic crown copings cemented to two types of intra-radicular posts under tensile stress. Material and method Sixteen metal-ceramic crown copings cemented with zinc phosphate cement to cast metal posts and cores (group 1, n = 8) or with self-adhesive resin cement to glass-fiber posts rebased with composite resin (group 2, n = 8) were subjected to tensile testing after endodontic treatment and standardized preparation. Failure occurred when the crown coping and/or post-core assembly fractured and/or detached. Result In group 1, after the application of a mean tensile load of 46.83 N, 7 crown copings and metal cores separated as a whole, while in 1 specimen the coping detached from the metal core. In group 2, a mean tensile load of 127.68 N resulted in glass-fiber post fracture, and in 1 case the entire crown-post-core assembly was detached. Tensile strength differed significantly between the two groups (p = 0.0085). Conclusion Our findings suggest that metal-ceramic crown copings cemented with self-adhesive resin cement show strong adhesion to composite resin cores associated with glass-fiber posts, thus providing a safe alternative to the use of cast metal posts and cores.

Abstract
Abstract The aim of this study was to compare the bond strength (BS) of glass fiber posts (GFP) luted to oval and circular-shaped root canals rehabilitated using varying post techniques, at different intraradicular levels. Ninety 16-mm-long roots of human mandibular premolars, classified either as having oval or circular-shaped canals, were endodontically treated and prepared for restoration using one of three different post techniques (n=15): 1) single GFP; 2) resin-relined GFP; 3) main GFP associated with accessory posts. GFPs were luted with a dual polymerizing resin cement (RelyX ARC) after the canal had been treated with a 3-step etch-and-rinse adhesive system (Adper Scothbond Multipurpose). The samples were sectioned into three 1-mm-thick sections, which were differentiated by the root level (cervical, middle and apical) and tested for push-out BS. Assessment of failure mode was made under a stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed using repeated measures three-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test. The root canal cross-section had a significant influence on BS (p<0.001), with the lowest values being observed in oval-shaped canals. The post technique also significantly affected the BS (p=0.018), with the resin-relined GFPs providing the highest BS values in both oval and circular-shaped canals. Irrespective of the cross-section of the root canal and post technique, there was no significant difference in BS in the cervical, middle and apical third of the root canal (p=0.084). In oval-shaped canals, the BS to intraradicular dentin at cervical, middle or apical level could be increased when the GFPs posts were relined.

Abstract
A coronoradicular reconstruction (CRR) has conventionally used a metallic inlay core (MIC) or a single-fiber-reinforced composite (sFRC) but extensive dentin removal can lead to root fracture. We propose herein a multi-fiber-reinforced composite (mFRC) based on a bundle of thin flexible fibers that can be adapted to the root anatomy without removing additional dentin. The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical behavior of the root reconstructed with mFRC, MIC, or sFRC using a finite element analysis (FEA). Models with or without a ferrule effect were created using Autodesk© software and divided into four parts: root, post, bonding composite or cement, and zirconia crown. For both models, extreme stress values (ESV), stress distribution, and risk of fracture were calculated for an oblique force (45°) of 100 N applied to the top of the buccal cusp. Results indicated that mFRC and mFRCG present a lower risk of fracture of the root and of the CRR without ferrule and thus could be valuable alternatives for premolar CRR. Further studies are necessary to evaluate the clinical success of these CRR.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Endodontically treated teeth dry with time, and its dentin undergoes changes making the teeth brittle and friable. The main function of a post is to strengthen or reinforce a weakened root. However, doing a post and core frequently requires the removal of sound tooth tissue. Recent materials introduced in the market for post and cores have been promising. AIM The aim of this study is to evaluate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated extracted permanent teeth with variable remaining root dentin thickness after post space preparation. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 270 freshly extracted permanent maxillary central incisors with fully formed apices were selected, decoronated at cementoenamel junction, and divided into three main groups according to remaining root dentin thickness, determined using a Vernier caliper into 0.5, 1, and 1.50 mm after post space preparation. Each group was further divided into three subgroups (subgroup a: Custom-made cobalt-chromium alloy post and core; subgroup b: Prefabricated glass fiber post and composite core; and subgroup c: EverStick fiber post). Each specimen was subjected to compressive load using universal testing machine. The force required to fracture was recorded and data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. RESULTS Analysis of variance revealed that compressive strength of the tooth is significantly affected by the increase in the remaining dentin thickness after post space preparation (p < 0.05). Furthermore, teeth with custom fabricated posts showed a significantly higher compressive strength (p < 0.05) than prefabricated glass fiber post and EverStick fiber post groups except the group with minimum remaining dentin thickness. CONCLUSION The present in vitro study revealed that compressive strength of the post and core systems is directly related to the amount of healthy remaining dentin thickness. Hence, efforts to maximize the preservation of natural dentin should be taken during post space preparation.

Background Endodontically treated teeth are widely considered to be more susceptible to fracture than vital teeth. Obturation procedures and post placement have been a main cause of vertical root fracture. Material and Methods Forty-eight human premolars with standardized weakened roots were endodontically treated and allocated to four experimental groups (n=12). After root canal treatment, in group 1, fiber posts #1 were cemented in root canals using Estelite Core Quick, and the crowns were restored with resin composite. For group 2 and 3, the roots and crowns were restored using a light-cured and self-cured adhesive and resin composites respectively. In group 4, it was used the Panavia F 2.0 resin cement and resin composite for corono-radicular reconstruction. In group 5, the teeth remained untouched. After 24 hours storage and 1000 thermocycles, samples were loaded at a cross head speed of 1 mm per minute. Results A significant difference was observed in fracture resistance among groups 4 and 5 compared to other groups. Conclusions Root reconstruction with fiber post and Panavia resin cement, and crown building using light-cured resin composite resulted in increased fracture resistance equal to that of intact teeth. Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the fracture resistance of simulated immature teeth after different intra-radicular treatments. Crowns and roots of bovine incisors were cut transversally and removed to simulate immature teeth. Root canal preparation and flaring were performed using a bur in crown-apex and apex-crown direction. The samples were distributed into 5 groups (n=10): Positive control (PoC) - no root canal flaring or filling; Negative control (NeC) - teeth were sectioned and their root canals were flared; Direct anatomical glass fiber post (RaP) - #2 Reforpost main glass fiber post relined with composite resin; Double tapered conical glass fiber posts (ExP) - #3 Exacto glass fiber post; and #2 Reforpost main glass fiber + Reforpin accessory glass fiber posts (RrP). In RaP, ExP and RrP, 4.0-mm apical plugs were done with MTA Angelus. The specimens were embedded in polystyrene resin inside cylinders and the periodontal ligament was simulated with a polyether-based impression material. The specimens were submitted to compressive fracture strength test (0.5 mm/min at 135° relative to the long axis of the tooth) in a servo-hydraulic mechanical testing machine MTS 810. Data were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Dunnett's C or Tukey's tests (α=0.05). The control groups (PoC and NeC) showed lower fracture strength than the experimental groups. NeC presented the lowest resistance and ExP presented the highest resistance among the experimental groups. The flaring procedures produced a detrimental effect on the fracture resistance of the bovine teeth. Glass fiber intra-radicular posts increased significantly the fracture resistance of simulated immature teeth.

Abstract
Abstract This study evaluated the fracture strength of endodontically treated teeth submitted to reconstructive techniques through dynamic and static tests. Forty human anterior teeth were divided into 4 groups (n=10): GNW (non-weakened) - root restored with glass fiber post (GFP), GW - weakened root restored with GFP, GDA - weakened root restored with direct anatomic GFP, and GIA - weakened root restored with indirect anatomic GFP. The teeth were endodontically treated considering that experimental groups (GW, GDA and GIA) simulated weakened roots for restoration with GFP using different techniques. The GFP was luted with resin cement and the coronal portion was restored with composite resin and metallic crowns. All samples were submitted to chewing simulation at 60 cycles/min in a total of 300,000 cycles. The survival samples were further exposed to compressive loading at a crosshead speed of 1.0 mm/min in a universal testing machine. The load was applied at 135° to the long axis of the tooth until failure. Data were analyzed by ANOVA (a=0.05). After chewing simulation were observed: GNW: 100% of survival roots; GW: 70% of survival roots, and GDA and GIA: 80% of survival roots. The mean fracture strength values (N) were 280.6 (GNW), 239.0 (GW), 221.3 (GDA), and 234.1 (GIA) without significant difference among the groups (p=0.7476). The results suggested similar fracture strength in both weakened and non-weakened teeth regardless the reconstructive technique of root internal wall. Higher incidence of catastrophic fracture was observed in weakened teeth without restoration of the root internal wall.

Abstract
The following case report describes the three-year follow-up after rehabilitation of a flared root canal using a direct anatomic post (a resin composite combined with a prefabricated glass fiber post) associated with metal-free ceramic restoration. The report presents the clinical protocol for the fabrication of the posts, which provide an intimate fit to the remaining root and mechanical properties similar to those of the dental structure. These posts serve as an alternative to conventional metal cores.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate how use of a fiber sleeve may reduce interfacial debonding and improve fracture strength of pulpless teeth with flared root canals. METHODS Pulpless premolars with flared root canals were restored either with a fiber-reinforced post (FRP) alone or with an FRP wrapped in a hollow tubular fiber sleeve. A normal root restored with an FRP alone served as a control. The integrity of resin-dentin and resin-fiber interfaces in the restored roots was evaluated by a stereoscopic system after penetrating a dye. Four roots were tested for each experimental group. Fracture resistance in pulpless premolars with flared root canals restored with an FRP alone or with an FRP/sleeve combination were investigated under bonded and non-bonded conditions with static fracture testing (n=8), and stress distribution in these restored premolars were tested by finite element analysis (FEA). RESULTS Flared root canals restored with an FRP/sleeve combination demonstrated superior integrity at the cervical resin-dentin interface to root canals with an FRP alone. Premolars with a flared root canal restored with an FRP/sleeve combination showed significantly greater fracture resistance compared with premolars restored with an FRP alone. FEA showed that once interfacial de-bonding extended to the cervical region of the root, stress concentration in the root dentin dramatically increased. SIGNIFICANCE The FRP/sleeve combination was effective in reducing debonding and, hence, improving the fracture strength of pulpless premolars with flared root canals.

Abstract
Endodontic posts are necessary to provide adequate retention and support when no sufficient remaining structure is available to retain the core. There are different materials and techniques to construct post-and-core, but there is no consensus about which one promotes better stress distribution on the remaining tooth structure. This study aimed to quantify and evaluate the distribution of stress in the root produced by customized glass fiber posts compared to different endodontic posts. Twenty-five simulated roots from photoelastic resin were made and divided into 5 groups: CPC, cast post-and-core; SP, screw post; CF, carbon fiber post; GF, glass fiber post; and CGF, customized glass fiber post. After cementing CPC and SP posts with zinc phosphate cement, and CF, GF and CGF posts with resin cement, resin cores were made for groups 2-5. Specimens were evaluated with vertical or 45° oblique loading. To analyze the fringes, the root was divided into 6 parts: palatal cervical, palatal middle, palatal apical, vestibular cervical, vestibular middle, and vestibular apical. The formed fringes were photographed and quantified. Data were recorded and subjected to two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (5%). SP (1.95±0.60) showed higher stress (p<0.05) compared to the others (CPC-0.52±0.74; CF-0.50±0.75, GF-0.23±0.48 and CGF-0.45±0.83). All posts showed high stress in apical third (CPC-1.40±0.65; SP-2.30±0.44, CF-1.80±0.45, GF-1.20±0.45, CGF-1.70±1.03) Low stress was found in cervical third (CPC-0.20±0.45; CF-0.00±0.00, GF-0.00±0.00, CGF-0.00±0.00), except by SP (1.90±0.65), which showed statistical difference (p<0.05). Customized post showed high stress concentration at the root and conventional glass fiber posts showed more favorable biomechanical behavior.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to comparatively assess the fracture resistance of the cementum-extended and conventional composite fillings with or without intracanal composite posts in severely damaged deciduous incisors. Materials and Methods: This in vitro study was performed on 60 extracted deciduous maxillary incisors that were randomly divided into four groups: Group 1: Composite filling (CF); Group 2: Composite filling with composite posts (CF + CP); Group 3: Composite filling extended 0.5 mm to cementum (ceCF); Group 4: Composite filling extended 0.5 mm to cementum with composite posts (ceCF + CP). The fracture resistance was assessed by exerting a progressively increasing load with a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/min in a Universal Testing Machine. Statistical Analysis: Data were analyzed by SPSS-18 using one-way analysis of variance at α < 0.05. Results: The mean fracture resistance (MFR) values of the experimental groups were 410.57 ± 139.44 N, 564.44 ± 92.63 N, 507.5 ± 76.37 N and 601.08 ± 96.04 N. A significant difference was found between the MFR of Groups 1 and 2, Groups 1 and 4 and Groups 3 and 4 (P < 0.05). Conclusion: A superior outcome was achieved by intracanal composite posts in both conventional and cementum-extended composite fillings.

Abstract
AIM This study evaluated the push-out bond strength of cemented fiber posts after deproteinization of root canal dentin walls with NaOCl. The effect of the application of an antioxidant solution (sodium ascorbate) was also evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS A three-step etch-and-rinse (Scotch-bond - 3M Espe) and a one-step self-etching adhesive (Xeno III - Dentsply Caulk) were evaluated. Thirty bovine incisor roots were divided into 3 groups: a. Irrigation with physiologic solution (control). b. Deproteinization with 10 minutes irrigation of 5% NaOCl. c. Deproteinization with NaOCl followed by 10 minutes irrigation with 10% ascorbic acid. Fiber posts were cemented with a dual-cured cement (Rely X ARC - 3M ESPE). The push-out bond strength was evaluated after 24 hours of storage in distilled water. The data were analyzed with three-way ANOVA, one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05). RESULTS There were significant differences between groups (p < 0.05). The bond strength of Scotchbond was not influenced by the deproteinization. Xeno III showed a decrease in bond strength when deproteinized with 5% NaOCl (p < 0.05). For Xeno III, the subsequent irrigation with ascorbic acid was able to reverse the effect of the deproteinization. Considering the radicular thirds, the bond strength varied in the sequence-apical < middle < coronal. CONCLUSION Only the all-in-one adhesive was influenced by the deproteinization. Considering the respective control groups, both systems showed similar bond strength results. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE The decreased bond strength of the self-etching adhesive following deproteinization seams to be related to the oxidant effect of the NaOCl solution and the subsequent irrigation with ascorbic acid was able to reverse the effect of the deproteinization.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the fracture resistance of extensively damaged teeth after two root canal preparation techniques (hand and rotary files) and after two filling techniques (active and passive compaction). Sixty-eight maxillary canines roots with an apical diameter equal to that of a #25 K-file were embedded in acrylic resin and the periodontal ligament was simulated by using a polyether impression material. The roots were randomly distributed into four groups (n=17): hand preparation and active compaction (HA), hand preparation and passive compaction (HP), rotary preparation and active compaction (RA), and rotary preparation and passive compaction (RP). All roots were restored with glass fiber post and metallic crown. The specimens were mechanically cycled (500,000 cycles, 45 °, 37 °C, 133 N, 2 Hz) and then subjected to a fracture resistanhe fracture resistance values ranged between 621.15 N (HP) and 785.71 N (HA). However, the Kruskal-Wallis test did not reveal differences in the fracture ce test. A single blinded examiner analyzed the external root surface and classified the failure pattern as favorable or unfavorable. Tresistance values among the four groups (p =0.247). Under the tested conditions, root canal preparation and filling techniques had no influence on the fracture resistance of extensively damaged teeth restored with fiber post and metallic crown.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the fracture strength of human premolar teeth with wide root canals, restored with glass fiber posts and resin cement, together with different numbers of accessory posts.MATERIAL AND METHOD: Thirty-six premolars received standardized preparations that simulated weakened roots, and were divided into three groups (n=12): G0 - glass fiber post (Reforpost/Angelus) cementation with dual cure resin cement (Rely X ARC/3M ESPE); G1 - glass fiber post cementation and one accessory post (Reforpin/Angelus), with dual cure resin cement; G2 - glass fiber post cementation and two accessory posts, with dual cure resin cement. Resin composite cores were placed in each tooth. A metal coping was placed in a standardized position on the cores to perform the compressive tests using a test machine. Testing was performed applying a force parallel to the long axis of the teeth at a speed of 0.5 mm/min. Fracture mode was analyzed under a stereoscopic loupe, classified by scores.RESULT: the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was applied, and there was no statistical difference in the mean values of fracture strength among the groups (in kgf): G0 = 91.1 ± 56.9; G1 = 104.7 ± 66.6; G2 = 106.1 ± 51.9. Greater frequency of fracture or cracks was observed in the cervical one-third of the root in the teeth without cemented accessory posts, but no statistical difference was observed among the fracture modes.CONCLUSION: The number of accessory posts cemented into debilitated roots had no influence on either fracture strength or type of fracture of pre-molar roots.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the fracture load and survival rate of weakened and non-weakened roots restored with different intracanal posts. METHODS Eighty teeth (16 mm) were prepared to a length of 10 mm with a custom drill. Fifty roots were weakened with a tapered diamond drill, and 30 roots were not. The specimens were embedded with acrylic resin up to 3 mm from the coronal aspect, and the periodontal ligament was simulated. The 50 weakened roots were restored with (n=10) CPC-gold (cast post and core made of gold alloy), CPC-Ni (cast post and core made of Ni-Cr alloy), FP (glass fiber posts), FP-W (glass fiber posts with a wider coronal diameter), and FP-CR (fiber posts relined with composite resin). The 30 nonweakened roots were restored with (n=10) CPC-gold, CPC-Ni, and FP. All of the posts were adhesively cemented. All of the specimens were mechanically cycled (37°C, 45°, 130 N, 2.2 Hz, and 1.5 million pulses) and evaluated after every 5 × 10(4) cycles to evaluate the presence of cracks as a primary outcome (event). The specimens that survived cycling were subjected to a fracture load test (load application on the palatal aspect at a 45° inclination). Failure mode was classified as favorable (above the simulated bone level) and catastrophic (below the simulated bone level). Survival rates were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Fracture load data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test (α=0.05) for weakened roots, one-way analysis of variance, and Tukey test (p<0.05) for non-weakened roots, and Student t-test (p<0.05) compared nonweakened vs weakened roots for the same post system. RESULTS For the preliminary survival results, FP-W showed a higher survival rate when compared with CPC (gold/Ni). For the fracture load (N), the statistical analysis (p<0.0001) presented differences among the weakened groups: CPC-gold (541.4) = CPC-Ni (642.6) > FP (282.2) = FP-W (274.1) = FP-RC (216.6). No differences were observed for the groups that were nonweakened (majority of favorable failures): CPC-gold (459.3) = CPC-Ni (422.0) = FP (347.9). Weakened roots restored with CPC-gold promoted high values of load fracture and unfavorable failure rates. CONCLUSION Cast post and cores or fiber posts can be used for restoring nonweakened roots. However, for weakened roots, a fiber post with a wider cervical emerging diameter appears to be a better alternative when compared with cast post and cores.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the effect of adhesive restorations on fracture resistance and stress distribution in teeth with simulated immature apices and apical plugs of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). METHODOLOGY Sixty bovine incisors were sectioned 8 mm above and 12 mm below the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ). The root canal was enlarged using a diamond bur, resulting in remaining root canal walls with 0.1-0.2 mm of thickness. A 5-mm apical plug of MTA was placed and the teeth were restored according to the following groups: GP--the root canal was filled with gutta-percha and endodontic sealer; CR--the root canal was filled with light-cured composite resin inserted incrementally; FP--a fibre post was cemented into the root canal; and RFP--the fibre post was relined with composite resin prior to the cementation into the root canal. A load was applied on the crown of all teeth at 135° to their long axis until fracture. Data was analysed by one-way anova and SNK tests (α = 0.05), whilst the fracture pattern was evaluated according to the position of the fracture. Stress distributions in the restored teeth were verified by finite element analysis. RESULTS Teeth restored with fibre posts and relined fibre posts were associated with the highest fracture resistance, whilst the GP group had the lowest values. GP and RC groups had similar fracture resistance values (P = 0.109). All fractures types involved the cervical and middle thirds of roots. The GP model had high levels of stress concentration in the cervical and middle thirds of roots. No difference was found amongst the stress concentration in the RC, FP and RFP models. CONCLUSION Restorative protocols alter the fracture resistance and stress distribution of immature teeth after placement of MTA apical plugs.

Abstract
This study investigated the effects of endodontic treatment procedures and different post systems rehabilitation steps on the strain and temperature rise on apical and cervical root dentin regions. Twenty-one extracted human canine teeth had two strain gages attached to the distal root surface and two thermocouples attached to the mesial root surface (cervical and apical). The strain and temperature rise were recorded during the following procedures: root canal preparation, final rinse and drying, root canal filling and canal relief. Then the teeth were divided into three groups (n=7), according to the type of post system: CPC, cast post and core; FGP, fiberglass post; and PSP, prefabricated steel post. Data continued to be recorded during the post space preparation, post modeling (only for CPC), post trying and post cementation. Data were subjected to a two-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's test (α=0.05). The post-space preparation caused the highest temperature rise (4.0-14.9 °C) and the highest strain in the apical region during irrespective of post type. The resin cement light-activation resulted in significant temperature increases in the cervical region for all of the groups. The canal relief and the post-space preparation produced highest temperature rises. The CPC post modeling resulted in higher root strain level similarly the level of post preparation. The PSP resulted in highest strain during post trying and post cementation.

Abstract
This in vitro study evaluated the adhesive interface of intraradicular fiber glass posts and root dentin using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Forty-eight single-rooted premolars were randomly divided into 6 groups consisting of chemical, dual, or light cured adhesive systems combined with either chemical or dual cure resin cements. Scanning electron microscopic analysis showed the best results for continuity, density and morphology of the hybrid layer and resin tags for the combination of a self-cure adhesive with self-cure cement resin, followed by a dual-cure adhesive with self-cure cement resin, and finally a light-cure adhesive with self-cure cement. For the dual-cure resin cement, the same relation may be observed. The apical third was the most critical region for evaluated the criteria for all combinations of materials (Kruskal-Wallis and Friedman tests; p<0.001). Generally, the simplification of steps in the adhesive system and the polymerization reaction of resin adhesives and cements produced a direct effect on the quality of the adhesive post/dentin substrate interface.
