Abstract
Background Nowadays, due to various inherent properties, graphene-based nanoparticles are widely used in drug delivery research. On the other hand, folate receptors are highly expressed on the surface of human tumor cells. In this work, to enhance the 5-fluorouracil (5FU) and curcumin (Cur) effects on colon cancer, we constructed a folic acid- (FA-) modified codelivery carrier based on graphene nanoparticles (GO-Alb-Cur-FA-5FU). Materials and Methods The HUVEC and HT-29 were selected for evaluating the antitumor effect of the prepared nanocarriers. The structure of nanocarriers was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, TEM microscopy, and a DLS analyzer. The efficiency of the prepared carrier was evaluated by fluorescence microscopy using Annexin V and the PI kit. The cytotoxicity of the carrier's component individually and the efficacy of the drug carrier GO-Alb-Cur-FA-5FU were assessed by MTT. Results The results of the pharmacological tests indicated that the new nanoparticles cause increased apparent toxicity in HT-29 cells. The apoptosis rate of the HT-29 and HUVEC cells treated with IC50 values of GO-Alb-Cur-FA-5FU for 48 h was higher than the cells treated with IC50 values of 5FU and Cur individually, which indicated the greater inhibitory efficacy of GO-Alb-Cur-FA-5FU than free drugs. Conclusion The designed GO-Alb-CUR-FA-5FU delivery system can be applied for targeting colon cancer cells and can be severe as a potential candidate for future drug development.

Abstract
Due to its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, sulfur dioxide (SO2) is widely used in foods and beverages to prevent the growth of microorganisms and to preserve the color and flavor of fruits. However, the amount of SO2 used in fruit preservation should be limited due to its possible adverse effects on human health. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of different SO2 concentrations in apricot diets on rat testes. Animals were randomly divided into six groups. The control group was fed a standard diet, and the other groups were fed apricot diet pellets prepared with (w/w) 10% dried apricots containing SO2 at different concentrations (1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, 2500 ppm, 3000 ppm, and 3500 ppm/kg) for 24 weeks. After sacrification, testicles were evaluated biochemically, histopathologically, and immunohistopathologically. Our results showed that an apricot diet containing 1500 ppm and 2000 ppm SO2 did not cause significant changes in testis. However, it was determined that tissue testosterone levels decreased as the amount of SO2 (2500 ppm and above) increased. Apricot diet containing 3500 ppm SO2 caused a significant increase in spermatogenic cell apoptosis, oxidative damage, and histopathological changes. In addition, a decrease in the expression of connexin-43, vimentin, and 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD) was observed in the same group. In summary, the results show that sulfurization of apricot at high concentrations such as 3500 ppm may lead to male fertility problems in the long term through mechanisms such as oxidative stress, spermatogenic cell apoptosis, and inhibition of steroidogenesis.

Abstract
Objective: In this study, we investigated the preventing effects of Curcumin (Cur)
against titanium dioxide nanoparticle (NTiO2)-induced mouse
testicular damage. Methods: We assessed NTiO2-intoxicated mice received 50mg/kg of
NTiO2 for 35 days. The Cur + NTiO2 group was
pretreated with Cur (200 mg/kg) for 7 days prior to administering
NTiO2. Sperm parameters, testosterone concentration,
histological criteria, morphometric parameters and Johnsen's scoring. Results: NTiO2 significantly reduced testicular weight, testosterone
concentration, morphometric parameters, Johnsen's scoring and sperm quality
(p<0.01), as well as a significant increase in
histological criteria. Pretreatment with Cur reduced testicular weight,
ameliorated morphometric parameters, increased Johnsen's scoring, elevated
testosterone levels, and increased histological criteria such as
vacuolization, detachment, and sloughing of germ cells into the seminiferous
tubules. Cur also improved sperm parameters including sperm count, motility,
and percentage of abnormality. Conclusion: Cur was found to have a potent protective effect against spermatogenesis
defects induced by nanoparticles in mice.

Abstract
Background Many factors including vasoconstrictor agents can interfere with wound healing process. This study aimed to compare the histopathological outcome of injection of two sympathomimetic drugs used during urologic surgery, including phenylephrine and epinephrine, on the structure of spongy tissue and urethra in a rat model of experimental hypospadias repair using stereological methods. Methods Male rats were allocated into three groups. The first group underwent surgery without using any agents. The second and third groups underwent surgery with diluted phenylephrine (1:5000) and diluted epinephrine (1:100000) injection in the urethral plate before operation, respectively. Quantitative histological evaluation of all penises was performed after 3 weeks. Results The results indicated no significant differences among the three groups regarding the vessels and urethral lumen and epithelium. However, the volumes of the spongy tissue and collagen bundles and the number of fibroblasts were significantly higher (35–55%) in surgery + phenylephrine and surgery + epinephrine groups in comparison to the surgery group (p < 0.05), with no preferences. Conclusions Hypospadias repair using phenylephrine and epinephrine injection showed no adverse effects. Furthermore, they might lead to better postoperative structural outcomes without any preferences. However, further experimental and human studies are required to draw a firm conclusion.

Abstract
Introduction: Testicular tissue is part of the reproductive system that some mineral compounds such as cadmium chloride (CdCl2) destroy. Green tea (Camellia sinensis) extract can reduce the tissue damage caused by toxins due to its antioxidant properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of green tea extract on sperm quality in cadmium chloride toxicity. Materials and Methods: In the present study, male Wistar rats were allotted randomly into four groups, namely control group (C), CdCl2 (1.5mg/kg), GT 1.5% (w/v) and in combinationCdCl2+GT groups. CdCl2 was injected intraperitoneally (1.5 mg /kg) whereas the green tea extract was administrated orally. At 13, 25 and 49 days after treatment, the rats were euthanized and the reproductive organs (testes, epididymis) were excised and used for sperm analysis and histo-morphometric examinations. Results: The mean of the diameter of seminiferous tubes, the number of spermatogonia, Sertoli, Leydig cells and thickness of the germinal layer in the testis were significantly increased (P<0.05) in all groups compared to the CdCl2 group (P<0.05). Sperm motility, sperm count and testosterone were significantly decreased in the CdCl2 group compared to all groups of treatment (p<0.05). The mean of MDA was significantly increased in the CdCl2 group compared to other groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Green tea has an antioxidant effect that reduces the effects of free oxygen radicals produced from toxins such as cadmium chloride. In addition, it could decrease lipid peroxidation of the cell membrane and ultimately prevent the destruction of tissues in the long run.
