Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted agent worldwide. Early prevention with HPV vaccination is a safe and effective method against this disease. HPV vaccines provided more protection against several oncogenic HPV strains. Three prophylactic HPV vaccines have been approved to target high-risk HPV types and protect against HPV-related disorders. These existing vaccines are based on the recombinant DNA technology and purified L1 protein that is assembled to form HPV empty shells. The prophylactic vaccines are highly immunogenic and can induce production of specific neutralizing antibodies. However, therapeutic vaccines are different from these prophylactic vaccines. They induced cell-mediated immunity against transformed cells, instead of neutralizing antibodies. The second generation of prophylactic HPV vaccines, made from alternative viral components using cost-effective production strategies, is undergoing clinical evaluation. The purpose of this review is to provide a complete and up-to-date review of the types of HPV vaccines and the efficiency of each of them for readers.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of rs531564 and the underlying signaling pathways. METHODS Five hundred and twenty-eight spinal cord injury (SCI) patients were genotyped for the analysis of the effect of rs531564 upon the miR-124 expression. RESULTS By luciferase assays, we validated Bcl-2-like protein 11 (BIM) as a target gene of miR-124 with a negative regulatory relationship between them. We also observed that miR-124 suppressed cell viability and accelerated cell apoptosis. CONCLUSIONS rs531564 could affect the expression of BIM by reducing the expression of miR-124, and it could be a bio-marker for the length of recovery after SCI.

Abstract
Background miR-21, miR-26b, miR-221/222 and miR-126 play crucial roles in cervical cancer development. Studies have shown that polymorphisms in miRNA genes can affect miRNA expression, which might be associated with cancer development. Methods Ten single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the miR-21, miR-26b, miR-221/222 and miR-126 genes (rs1292037, rs13137 in miR-21; rs2227255, rs2227258 in miR-26b; rs2858061, rs34678647, rs2858060, rs2745709 in miR-221/222; rs2297537, rs2297538 in miR-126) were selected, and genotyped in a total of 2176 individuals, including 435 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), 743 patients with cervical cancer (CC) and 998 healthy persons using TaqMan assays, and their associations with CIN and CC were evaluated. Results Our results showed significant differences for the rs2297538 genotypes between the CIN and CC groups (P = 0.001). In addition, our results also showed significant differences for the rs2297537 alleles between the CIN and CC groups (P = 0.003), and the C allele of rs2297537 might be associated with a decreased risk of CC (OR = 0.72, 95%CI: 0.58–0.90). At the inheritance analysis, between the CIN and control groups, the T/T-T/C genotype in rs1292037 and A/A-A/T genotype in rs13137 might be associated with an increased risk of CIN in the recessive model (OR = 1.61, 95% CI: 1.17–2.20 and OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.15–2.15). In addition, the C/C-T/T genotype of rs2745709 might be associated with a decreased risk of CIN in the overdominant model (OR = 0.66, 95% CI: 0.52–0.82). Between, CIN and CC group, the T/T-C/C genotype in rs1292037 and A/A-T/T genotype in rs13137 might be associated with an increased risk of CC in the overdominant model (OR = 1.43, 95% CI: 1.12–1.81 and OR = 1.42, 95% CI: 1.12–1.80). The rs2297538 G/G-A/G genotype might be associated with an increased risk of CC in the recessive model (OR = 2.83, 95% CI: 1.52–5.25). The rs2297537 2C/C + C/G genotype might be associated with a decreased risk of CC (OR = 0.71, 95% CI: 0.57–0.89) in the log-additive model. The rs2745709 T/T-C/C genotype might be associated with an increased risk of CC (OR = 1.44, 95% CI: 1.13–1.83) in the overdominant model. Conclusion Our results indicate that rs2297538 and rs2297537 in miR-126, rs1292037 and rs13137 in miR-21, and rs2745709 in miR-221/222, may have important roles in the development of CIN or CC.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is one of the fourth most common gynecological malignancies and has been identified as the fourth leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are single-stranded sequences of noncoding RNAs that are approximately 22-24 nucleotides in length. They modulate posttranscriptional mRNA expression and play critical roles in cervical cancer. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in miRNA genes may alter miRNA expression and maturation and have been associated with various cancers. This review mainly focuses on the roles of SNPs in miRNA genes in the development of cervical cancer and summarizes the research progress of miRNA SNPs in cervical cancer and their molecular regulation mechanisms.

Abstract
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder with growing prevalence and increasing economic burden. Based on the role of genetics and epigenetic factors on T2DM, we aimed to carry a systematic review and meta-analysis for all miRNA gene polymorphisms and risk of T2DM. Materials and Methods: A computerized literature search was carried out on PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, as well as references of relevant review/meta-analysis. Key search terms were “Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2,” “MicroRNAs,” and “Polymorphism, Single Nucleotide.” All types of observational studies from January 1, 1992, to November 30, 2019, were included, without language restriction. Data analysis was performed using R programming language (3.5.2). Level of heterogeneity was obtained by Cochran's Q test (P < 0.05), and subgroup analysis was performed based on ethnicity. Results: Thirty-two polymorphisms from fifteen articles were included. Meta-analysis was carried out based on minor allele frequencies. Seven studies with 2193 cases and 3963 controls were included for rs2910164 polymorphism. In subgroup analysis, there were significant results in Caucasian population in dominant model (odds ratio [OR] =1.12; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.83–1.51), homozygote model (OR = 1.78; 95% CI: 1.06–3.00), heterozygote model (OR = 1.77; 95% CI: 1.03–3.05), and recessive model (OR = 1.78; 95% CI: 1.07–2.96). Four studies with 2085 cases and 1933 controls were included for rs895819 polymorphism. Overall, there was no significant result for association with rs895819, but subgroup analysis revealed that minor allele significantly decreased the risk of T2DM in Caucasians by recessive model (OR = 0.34; 95% CI: 0.18–0.66), dominant model (OR = 0.70; 95% CI: 0.52–0.94), homozygote model (OR = 0.32; 95% CI: 0.16–0.62), heterozygote model (OR = 0.37; 95% CI: 0.19–0.74), allelic model (OR = 0.67; 95% CI: 0.52–0.85). Conclusion: The minor allele of rs2910164 may increase the risk of T2DM by leading to lower level of miR-146a. In contrast, minor allele of rs895819 may decrease the risk of T2DM by leading to higher level of miR-27a.

Abstract
Aims This study aimed at examining the effect of 3-bp pre-miR-3131 insertion/deletion (ins/del) polymorphism on Breast Cancer (BC) risk. Objectives Totally 403 women including 199 BC patients and 204 women who have no cancer were included in this case-control study. Genotyping of miR-3131 3-bp ins/del polymorphism was performed by mismatch PCR-RFLP method. Methods The findings expressed that the pre-miR-3131 3-bp ins/del variant was not related to the risk of BC in all genetic tested models. While, the ins/del genotype was related to late onset BC (OR=2.53, 95%CI=1.27-4.84, p=0.008). Results Pooled results from the meta-analysis indicated to that the pre-miR-3131 ins/del is related to with an increased risk of cancer in heterozygous (OR=1.26, 95%CI=1.06-1.51, p=0.01), dominant (OR=1.33, 95%CI=1.14-1.54, p=0.0002), and allele (OR=1.24, 95%CI=1.06-1.45, p=0.006) genetics models. Conclusion It is concluded that, our findings did not support a relationship between pre-miR-3131 ins/del polymorphism and the risk of BC. While, this variant was significantly related to late onset BC. Combined results of this study with previous studies indicated that this polymorphism increased the risk of cancer. More studies in a study with larger population with variety of ethnicities are required to verify our findings.

Abstract
Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) H19, a well-known oncogenic lncRNA, is overexpressed in various cancers. Several studies have investigated the association between polymorphisms in lncRNA H19 and the risk of various cancer types; however, the findings were inconsistent. In this study, we performed a meta-analysis to identify the precise association between H19 polymorphisms and cancer risk. Appropriate studies were retrieved from searching Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Google scholar databases, updated 25 November 2018. The pooled odds ratios (ORs with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to estimate the strength of the association between H19 polymorphisms and cancer risk. Our findings revealed that the H19-rs217727 C>T polymorphism is significantly associated with an increased risk of overall cancer in homozygous codominant (OR=1.28, 95% CI=1.04-1.57, P =0.020, TT vs CC), dominant (OR=1.20, 95% CI=1.04-1.37, P =0.010, CT+TT vs CC), recessive (OR=1.21, 95% CI=1.00-1.46, P =0.048, TT vs CT+CC), and allele (OR=1.16, 95% CI=1.05-1.28, P =0.003, T vs C) genetic models. No significant correlations were observed between H19: rs2839698 G>A, rs2107425 C>T, rs2735971 C>T, rs3024270 G>C, rs3741219 T>C, rs2839701 C>G, rs2735469 C>T, rs17658052 G>A, and rs3741216 T>A polymorphisms and overall cancer risk. Stratified analysis by cancer type proposed that the rs217727 variant is associated with increased risk of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and lung cancer, whereas the rs2839698 variant is associated with increased risk of gastrointestinal cancer. Taken together, these findings support an association between H19 rs217727, and rs2839698 polymorphisms and cancer susceptibility. Larger and well-designed studies are necessary to further confirm these findings in detail.
