Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the impact of anti-VEGF therapy on vascular metrics in eyes with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) using wider field swept-source OCT angiography (WF SS-OCTA). METHODS We included 23 eyes with macular edema associated with non-ischemic CRVO from 22 patients treated with anti-VEGF therapy (median number of injections: 5 [2-9]). Changes in vessel density (VD), vessel skeletonized density (VSD), and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters were measured using WF SS-OCTA. Visual acuity (VA) and central subfield thickness (CST) were also measured. RESULTS Median CST decreased significantly from 369 µm (305-531) to 267 µm (243-300, p < 0.001). VD and VSD parameters in 12 × 12 mm images showed significant reductions. For instance, VSD in the whole retina decreased from a median of 13.37 (11.22-13.74) to 11.29 (9.36-12.97, p = 0.013). Additionally, a significant increase in FAZ circularity was found, suggesting improved microvascular integrity. Significant inverse correlations were found between the number of anti-VEGF injections and all VSD and VD parameters on the 12 × 12 mm images (p < 0.05). Notably, the reductions in VSD and VD on 12 × 12 mm angiograms in the deep capillary plexus (DCP) after each injection significantly correlated with increased logMAR VA (worse VA). CONCLUSION Anti-VEGF therapy in CRVO patients not only mitigates macular edema but also alters the overall microvascular morphology and functionality as revealed by WF SS-OCTA.

Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second common cause of blindness following diabetic retinopathy. The manual screening of fundus images to detect RVO is time consuming. Deep-learning techniques have been used for screening RVO due to their outstanding performance in many applications. However, unlike other images, medical images have smaller lesions, which require a more elaborate approach. To provide patients with an accurate diagnosis, followed by timely and effective treatment, we developed an intelligent method for automatic RVO screening on fundus images. Swin Transformer learns the hierarchy of low-to high-level features like the convolutional neural network. However, Swin Transformer extracts features from fundus images through attention modules, which pay more attention to the interrelationship between the features and each other. The model is more universal, does not rely entirely on the data itself, and focuses not only on local information but has a diffusion mechanism from local to global. To suppress overfitting, we adopt a regularization strategy, label smoothing, which uses one-hot to add noise to reduce the weight of the categories of true sample labels when calculating the loss function. The choice of different models using a 5-fold cross-validation on our own datasets indicates that Swin Transformer performs better. The accuracy of classifying all datasets is 98.75 ± 0.000, and the accuracy of identifying MRVO, CRVO, BRVO, and normal, using the method proposed in the paper, is 94.49 ± 0.094, 99.98 ± 0.015, 98.88 ± 0.08, and 99.42 ± 0.012, respectively. The method will be useful to diagnose RVO and help decide grade through fundus images, which has the potency to provide patients with further diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
The second most prevalent cause of retinal vascular disease is retinal vein occlusion (RVO). RVO raises intravascular pressure in the capillary and veins, triggering vessel barrier collapse and subsequent leaking of blood or plasma components into the tissue (edema). Macular edema (ME) is a major complication of RVO that results in significant visual impairment. Laser therapy, intravitreal steroid injections, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors are the major therapeutic techniques. Different therapies reduce ME of RVO and improve visual activity. However, some people have no impact on the resolution of ME, while others have a poor visual prognosis despite full ME cure. There are many investigators who studied the relationship between indicators of various instruments with visual activity. However, a summary of those findings is currently lacking. Therefore, we will focus on the predictive factors of different studies associated with positive visual activity outcomes, which would be very useful and important to help address both treatment expectations and methods for patients with RVO.

Abstract
Background The use of Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to evaluate the predictors of visual acuity-recovery in patients treated with conbercept for macular edema (ME) secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) has rarely been seen. We collected 26 CRVO-ME patients with different OCT measures at 6 months follow-up to identify the factors that are most strongly correlated with the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) post-treatment in CRVO-ME patients treated with conbercept. Purpose To evaluate the effectiveness of intravitreal conbercept injections for the treatment of CRVO-ME and to determine the major predictors of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) post-treatment. Methods A retrospective study methodology was used. Twenty-six eyes from 26 patients with CRVO-ME were enrolled in the study. After an initial intravitreal injection of conbercept (0.5 mg/0.05 ml), monthly injections for up to 6 months were given following a 1 + PRN (pro re nata) regimen. Data collected at monthly intervals included measurements of the logMAR BCVA, central subfield thickness (CST), macular volume (MV), photoreceptor layer thickness (PLT), outer nuclear layer thickness (ONLT), and the disrupted ellipsoid zone (DEZ). The correlation between BCVA, before and after injections, and each of CST, MV, PLT, ONLT, DEZ was analyzed. Results The logMAR BCVA in months 3 and 6 post-injection was significantly improved relative to the baseline. In this same period the CST, MV, PLT, ONLT and DEZ were also significantly improved relative to the baseline. There was a negative correlation between PLT and logMAR BCVA at months 3 and 6 after treatment (r = − 0.549, P < 0.001; r = − 0.087, P < 0.001). Conclusion Intravitreal injection of conbercept is an effective treatment for CRVO-ME. With 6 months of follow-up, logMAR BCVA and CST, MV, PLT, ONLT, DEZ improved. PLT was negatively correlated with the visual function in CRVO-ME patients after conbercept treatment, which may be a predictor of vision recovery in patients with CRVO-ME.

Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the involvement of peripapillary zone vascular abnormalities in Behcet's uveitis (BU) and associated visual dysfunction. We evaluated the retinal and choroidal microvascular features in both macular and peripapillary areas of BU patients to identify vascular abnormalities contributing to reduced best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Methods: A prospective, observational study was conducted in 24 eyes of 13 patients with BU and 24 eyes of 15 healthy participants as controls. They received a standard eye examination and were recorded by OCTA measurements of macular and peripapillary areas. The vascular densities of superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP), choroidal flow area, radial peripapillary capillary network (RPCN) density, foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area and perimeter, full retinal thickness (FRT), and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (pRNFLT) were measured.Correlations among microvascular, structural, and functional changes were assessed. Results: Our findings uncovered that the vascular density was significantly reduced in the peripapillary zone of BU eyes compared to healthy eyes, especially in the inferior subfield of the RPCN. The vascular densities of SCP and DCP quadrants within the macular zone had no significant difference between BU and control groups except for DCP density of the nasal parafoveal quadrant. Both FAZ area and perimeter were greater but without statistical significance in the BU group. Compared to healthy eyes, the choriocapillaris flow area was smaller while the FRT and pRNFLT were greater in the BU group. Notably, there was a significant correlation between the reduction in RPCN vascular density and decreased BCVA in BU patients. Conclusion: Based on OCTA, vascular changes associated with BU are more prominent in the peripapillary zone than those in the macular zone. The vascular density of the RPCN could serve as a sensitive indicator to monitoring BU pathogenic progression and treatment response using a non-invasively method of OCTA.

Abstract
Objective This study assessed the efficacy of conbercept for patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR). Methods In this retrospective clinical study, 54 patients with NPDR (54 eyes) were treated with intravitreal injection of conbercept using a 3+ pro re nata regimen and followed up for 12 months. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central foveal thickness (CFT), area of hard exudate (HE), and number of microaneurysms (MAs) were used as indicators of therapeutic effects. Systemic adverse reactions were recorded to assess safety. Results During the 12-month follow-up period, the mean number of injections was 6.12 ± 1.89 on demand. From baseline to the 12-month follow-up, the BCVA of patients with NPDR increased from 0.71 ± 0.20 logMAR to 0.43 ± 0.16 logMAR, CFT decreased from 424.26 ± 64.89 μm to 269.27 ± 44.79 μm, and the number of MAs declined from 79.53 ± 27.18 to 33.34 ± 16.53. Moreover, the area of HE was significantly reduced after 9 months of treatment. There were no serious systemic adverse events during the follow-up. Conclusions Intravitreal injection of conbercept has a stable and robust effect on patients with NPDR over a 12-month follow-up period. Thus, conbercept is an effective and feasible treatment for NPDR.

Abstract
AIM To compare the safety and efficacy of the intravitreal injection of conbercept (IVC) and triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA) for macular edema (ME) secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS A prospective, randomized clinical study. Patients with ME secondary to BRVO were randomly assigned to either IVC group or IVTA group at a ratio of 2:1 and a 12-month follow-up was performed. The efficacy outcome measures included the mean changes and differences in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the central retinal thickness (CRT). The safety profiles and the mean retreatment intervals were also compared. RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference of baseline between the two groups (IVC group, n=36; IVTA group, n=17). At 12mo, the BCVA letters improved by 27.31±18.36 in the IVC group, and 13.53±11.37 in the IVTA group (P=0.0004). CRT reduction was 253.33±163.69 and 150.24±134.32 µm, respectively (P=0.0034). The mean BCVA in the IVC group was superior to that of the IVTA group for months 6-12 (P<0.01). The mean CRT at 9 and 12mo were thinner in the IVC group compared to the IVTA group (P<0.01). The mean retreatment interval in the IVC group was longer than that in the IVTA group (97.40±36.27d vs 68.71±36.38d, P=0.0030). One eye in the IVC group and seven eyes in the IVTA group developed elevated intraocular pressure (IOP; P=0.0012). The proportion of eyes with cataract new-onset or progression were 19.44% in the IVC group and 64.71% in the IVTA group (P=0.0012). CONCLUSION IVC could maintain or improve BCVA and reduce CRT for a longer time and have longer retreatment interval than IVTA. In addition, patients treated with IVTA are more susceptible to IOP elevation and cataract progression.

Abstract
Aqueous humor (AH) proteins are involved in many physiological and pathological processes of the eye. The proteome analysis of AH is important to understand its physiological and pathophysiological functions. In the present study, AH samples obtained from 21 cataract volunteers were pooled together. After high-pH RPLC offline separation, the pooled sample was analyzed by LC-MS/MS to provide a comprehensive profile of AH proteome. The function analysis was provided by the GO and IPA annotation. In order to determine whether the AH proteome can reflect the pathophysiological changes of the disease, DIA technology was used to analyze the AH samples obtained from three neovascular glaucoma (NVG) patients (six samples) before and after drug treatment. The differential proteins were validated by PRM technology in an independent group (14 samples). In the AH proteome database, 802 proteins were identified, and 318 proteins were identified for the first time. Furthermore, 480 proteins were quantified based on the peak intensity-based semiquantification (iBAQ), which ranged by approximately 7 orders of magnitude. These proteins are primarily involved in immunity- and inflammation-related pathways. The differential AH proteomic analysis in NVG treatment revealed that the AH proteome can reflect the pathophysiological changes of drug treatment. Angiogenesis and thrombus coagulation progression are deeply involved in NVG treatment. The present experiment provided a comprehensive AH proteome analysis and expanded the profile of human AH proteome. The differential AH proteomic analysis of NVG treatment indicated that AH proteome can reflect the pathophysiological changes in drug intervention.

Evaluation of Microvascular Structure Changes after Conbercept Treatment on Macular Edema Secondary to Retinal Vein Occlusion. BIOMED RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL 2020; 2020:9046781. Abstract
Aims To confirm the therapeutic efficacy of conbercept for the treatment of macular edema (ME) secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) by using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to find out the differences in therapeutic efficacy between ischemic and nonischemic retinal vein occlusion (iRVO or non-iRVO) after conbercept treatment. Methods In this prospective, randomized, and comparative study, 60 unilateral eyes suffered from RVO combined with macular edema were included and fellow eye as controls. After an initial intravitreal injection of conbercept (IVIC), a pro re nata (PRN) strategy was adopted, and the follow-up time was 6 months. The foveal avascular zone (FAZ), vascular density of superficial capillary plexus (SCP), and vascular density of deep retinal capillary plexus (DCP), nonperfused areas (NPAs) were evaluated with OCTA on baseline and after treatment. Results The mean intravitreal injection number was 2.9 ± 0.89 times during six months in iRVO patients and 2.1 ± 0.86 times in non-iRVO patients, with statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). On baseline, central macular thickness (CMT) and FAZ were significantly thickened and enlarged compared to those of healthy fellow eyes; the vascular density of SCP and DCP were significantly decreased, and the differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Compared to baseline, after treatment, the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was improved in either iRVO or non-iRVO (−0.601 ± 0.387, −0.241 ± 0.341 logMAR, p < 0.05). In iRVO, the improvement was more substantial than that of the non-iRVO group. FAZ in the non-iRVO group had significantly decreased compared to that in iRVO group (−0.044 ± 0.040 versus 0.014 ± 0.043 mm2, p < 0.05). CMT, the vascular density of SCP, and DCP had no significant difference. Conclusions The changes of microvascular structure can be quantitatively evaluated by using OCTA for the patients with RVO. Conbercept had a significant effect on treatment of RVO with macular edema. A more profound effect was achieved in the iRVO group on visual improvement and FAZ reduction in the non-iRVO group after conbercept treatment.
