Abstract
Background Treatment for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer is challenging. Currently, platinum-resistant ovarian cancer is typically treated with non-platinum single-agent chemotherapy ± bevacizumab, but the prognosis is often extremely poor. In the treatment of platinum-resistant ovarian cancer patients, reports of triple therapy with interstitial implantation radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) (PRaG for short) are relatively rare. Case description Here, we report a patient with oligometastatic platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. The patient achieved partial response (PR) of the lesion and sustained benefit for more than six months after receiving interstitial implantation radiotherapy combined with immunotherapy along with GM-CSF. Conclusion This triple therapy may provide additional options for these patients.

Abstract
The incidence and mortality of gynecologic cancers have been constantly increasing in China over the last 2 decades, which become a major health concern for women. Survival rates of gynecologic cancers are generally not satisfactory and decrease along with the advancing stage, this is mainly due to the lack of a clear prognostic evaluation during the treatment, which brings difficulties to the treatment. Therefore, more accurate prognostic evaluation methods are urgently needed. To solve this problem, this article explores the changes in the biomechanical properties of cells. Changes in the biomechanical properties of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were explored by nano detection technology. The reference criteria for clinical evaluation of ovarian cancer (Age, FIGO stage, Histologic type, CA-125, Ascites, Single/Double, Residual lesion, and Chemotherapy) were compared and analyzed. The results showed that the average cell height of CTCs was 4.12 ± 0.83 μm before chemotherapy and 4.87 ± 0.71 μm after chemotherapy, with an average increase of 18.203 %. The apparent Young's modulus (E) was 3.884 ± 0.045 kPa before chemotherapy and 4.514 ± 0.025 kPa after chemotherapy, which increased by 0.63 kPa. The ROC analysis of FIGO stage of ovarian cancer patients showed that Young's modulus of cells could better reflect the accuracy of the evaluation of FIGO stage of patients, with the accuracy reaching 76.7 %, which was higher than the detection accuracy of CA-125 (72.6 %). In conclusion, the mechanical properties of CTCs can indicate the FIGO stage and diagnosis of patients and predict the prognostic risk of patients.

Abstract
Background The treatment of local-regional recurrent breast cancer (BC) after external beam radiotherapy is challenging. We aim to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous iodine-125 brachytherapy for local recurrent BC. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 15 patients with local recurrent BC treated with CT-guided interstitial implantation of iodine-125 seeds. Regular contrast-enhanced CT was conducted to evaluate the tumor response. Follow-up survival, quality of life, and adverse events were analyzed. Results Among the 15 patients, five were elderly patients (older than 80 years) and six were complicated with chronic underlying diseases. The median number of 125I seeds implantation was 33 (range: 20-130) with median dose 90 (D90, the minimum dose covering 90% of the target volume) of 108 Gy (range: 60-120 Gy). There was no significant difference in D90, V100 (the volume of the target receiving 100% of the prescription dose), and V150 (the volume of the target receiving 150% of the prescription dose) before and after operation (p > 0.05). The median follow-up was 14 months (range: 6-18 months). Six months after operation, the ORR was 66.7% (10/15) and the LCR was 93.3% (14/15). The 6- and 12-month survival rates were 100 and 41.6%, respectively, and the median survival time was 12.5 months. PS score decreased from 1.53 ± 0.81 to 0.53 ± 0.49. The pain score decreased from 2.87 ± 1.67 before operation to 1.07 ± 1.18 after operation, and the differences were statistically significant (p< 0.05). No severe complications occurred. Conclusions CT-guided iodine-125 brachytherapy provided a safe and effective choice for recurrent BC with significant local therapeutic effects and minor complications, especially for elderly patients with chronic underlying disease and those who were not eligible for surgical resection and had failed to benefit from systemic therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Currently there is a lack of effective treatment strategies for malignant superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS). We aim to investigate the therapeutic effect of intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) combined with the Single Needle Cone Puncture method for the 125I brachytherapy (SNCP-125I) in treating SVCS caused by stage III/IV Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty-two patients with SCLC who developed SVCS from January 2014 to October 2020 were investigated in this study. Out of these 62 patients, 32 underwent IAC combined with SNCP-125I (Group A) and 30 patients received IAC treatment only (Group B). Clinical symptom remission, response rate, disease control rate, and overall survival of these two groups of patients were analyzed and compared. RESULTS The remission rate of symptoms including dyspnea, edema, dysphagia, pectoralgia, and cough of malignant SVCS in Group A was significantly higher than that in Group B (70.5 and 50.53%, P=0.0004, respectively). The disease control rates (DCR, PR+CR+SD) of Group A and B were 87.5 and 66.7%, respectively (P=0.049). Response rates (RR, PR+CR) of Group A and Group B were 71.9 and 40% (P=0.011). The median overall survival (OS) of Group A was significantly longer than that in Group B which was 18 months compared to 11.75 months (P=0.0360). CONCLUSIONS IAC treatment effectively treated malignant SVCS in advanced SCLC patients. IAC combined with SNCP-125I in the treatment of malignant SVCS caused by SCLC showed improved clinical outcomes including symptom remission and local tumor control rates than IAC treatment only in treating SCLC-induced malignant SVCS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study tested the long-term effect of extracorporeal shock wave (ECSW) therapy on ameliorating radiotherapy-induced chronic cystitis (CC) in rat. METHODS AND RESULTS Adult-female SD rats (n = 24) were equally categorized into group 1 (normal control), group 2 (CC induced by radiotherapy with 450 cGy twice with a four-hour interval to the urinary bladder), group 3 [CC with ECSW treatment (0.1 mJ/mm2/120 impulses once every 3 days after radiotherapy)]. Bladder specimens were harvested by day 60 after radiotherapy. By day 60, the degree of detrusor contraction was significantly reduced in group 2 than groups 1 and 3, and significantly reduced in group 3 than in group 1 (P < 0.0001). Number of WBC, occulted blood and bacteria were significantly higher in group 2 than in groups 1 and 3 (P < 0.01), but they showed no difference between the latter two groups (P > 0.3). The protein expressions of oxidative stress (NOX-1/NOX-2/oxidized protein), apoptosis (cleaved-caspase-3/cleaved-PARP), DNA-damaged marker (γ-H2AX), fibrosis (TGF-β/Smad3) and inflammatory signaling (TLR-4/MYD88/Mal/TRAF6/p-IκBα/p-NFκB/TNF-α/MMP-9/COX-2) were significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1, and were significantly reduced in group 3 (all P < 0.001). The cellular expressions of inflammatory (CD14+/CD68+/MIF+/MMP-9), immunoreactive (CD4+/CD8+) and cytokeratin (CK17/CK18) biomarkers, and collagen-deposition/fibrotic areas as well as bladder-damaged score/disruption of the bladder mucosa displayed an identical pattern compared to that of oxidative stress among the three groups (all P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION The long-term effect of ECSW treatment was reliable on protecting the urinary bladder from radiation-induced CC.

Abstract
Abstract
Monte Carlo and TL dosimetry applied to the characterization of 125I brachytherapy with a different design with other 125I seeds. In a water phantom, lattice configuration simulated with 125I seed in the center and 10 nm gold and gadolinium nan-particle filed voxels. This simulation conducted to the characterization of the nano-particles DEF in low energy and prostate tissue. To study of the prostate brachytherapy, a humanoid computational phantom developed by CT slices applied. KTMAN-2 computational phantom contains 29 organs and 19 skeletal regions and was produced from cross-sectional x-ray computed tomography (CT slices) images. The simulated seed was 125I seed having an average energy of 28.4 keV for photons, a half-life of 59.4 days. DEF factor in the seed radiation energy (28.4 keV) DEF factor was found to be two times higher for the gold nano-particles. It was revealed than gold-nano-particles posing Z about 1.24 times higher than gadolinium led to around 200% DEF increasing in the same conditions and the nano-particles size. It was concluded that in low energy sources brachytherapy, photoelectric is dominant in the presence of relative high element nanoparticles. This leads to a high dose increasing in some micro-meters and causes a dramatic dose gradient in the vicinity of a nano-particle. This dose gradient effectively kills the tumor cells in continuous low energy irradiation in the presence of a high Z material nano-scaled particle. Application of gold nano-particles in low energy brachytherapy is recommended.
