Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has emerged as a promising treatment in aesthetic dermatology. This systematic review aims to evaluate the current evidence for PRP applications in skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, wound healing, and fat grafting. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases and 13 studies meeting the inclusion criteria were selected for review. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used to assess the quality of included studies. The reviewed studies consistently reported positive outcomes for PRP across various applications. In skin rejuvenation, significant improvements in collagen density and overall skin appearance were observed. For hair restoration, studies showed mean increases of 18-27.7 hairs/cm² in treated areas. PRP demonstrated efficacy in accelerating wound healing across various wound types, including chronic ulcers. In fat grafting, PRP was associated with improved graft survival and integration. Patient satisfaction was generally high across all applications. However, there was significant heterogeneity in PRP preparation methods and treatment protocols among studies. This systematic review provides evidence supporting the efficacy of PRP in aesthetic dermatology, particularly in skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, wound healing, and fat grafting. PRP demonstrates a favorable safety profile across applications. However, the variability in study designs and PRP protocols highlights the need for standardization. Future research should focus on large-scale randomized controlled trials with standardized protocols and longer follow-up periods to solidify the evidence base for PRP in aesthetic dermatology.

Abstract
Hair follicle (HF) homeostasis is regulated by various signaling pathways. Disruption of such homeostasis leads to HF disorders, such as alopecia, pigment loss, and hair aging, which is causing severe health problems and aesthetic concerns. Among these disorders, hair aging is characterized by hair graying, hair loss, hair follicle miniaturization (HFM), and structural changes to the hair shaft. Hair aging occurs under physiological conditions, while premature hair aging is often associated with certain pathological conditions. Numerous investigations have been made to determine the mechanisms and explore treatments to prevent hair aging. The most well-known hypotheses about hair aging include oxidative stress, hormonal disorders, inflammation, as well as DNA damage and repair defects. Ultimately, these factors pose threats to HF cells, especially stem cells such as hair follicle stem cells, melanocyte stem cells, and mesenchymal stem cells, which hamper hair regeneration and pigmentation. Here, we summarize previous studies investigating the above mechanisms and the existing therapeutic methods for hair aging. We also provide insights into hair aging research and discuss the limitations and outlook.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of naringenin (NAR) in reducing hair loss. Twenty-four adult Wistar Albino mice, weighing between 25-35 g and aged 6-7 weeks, were used in this research. The dorsal hair of these mice was meticulously clipped and stained subsequently. The mice were randomly divided into four groups (n=6 for each group): (1) negative control group, treated with absolute ethanol alcohol as the vehicle (2) minoxidil (5%) treated group; (3) 0.5% naringenin treated group, and (4) naringenin plus minoxidil treated group. The treatment groups had significantly higher total antioxidant capacity in tissue levels and increased serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor compared to the control group. No significant differences were observed in keratinocyte growth factor tissue levels between the treatment and control groups. However, the medication significantly increased hair growth, hair follicle diameter expansion, and hair follicle quantity compared to the control group. The finding suggests that the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of NAR significantly reduced hair loss in adult male mice.

Abstract
Introduction Alopecia areata is a common recurrent T cell-mediated autoimmune-induced non-scarring hair loss with not fully understood pathogenesis. It affects nearly 2% of the general population during lifetime. The course of the disease is unpredictable, and currently no treatment is available for complete cure or prevention. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood-derived product, which has widely spread in the last decades for treatment of different dermatological conditions including hair disorders. Methods The aim of this work was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of activated PRP in comparison to non-activated PRP in the treatment of alopecia areata. This study was conducted on two groups of 20 subjects each who received 4 treatments of intradermal injection of activated and non-activated PRP. Results and Conclusion Data obtained in our research confirm that PRP is safe, effective, and well tolerated by patients as a treatment modality for alopecia areata. Besides, such a method is cost-effective as there is no need for any expensive tools for preparation and it can be done in outpatient clinics. Also, activation of PRP prior to injection is not mandatory as there was no statistically significant difference between both groups.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim: The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of Methylsulfonylmethane in minimizing hair loss. PATIENTS AND METHODS Materials and methods: Twenty adult Wister Albino mice weighing 25-35g and aged 6-7 weeks were employed. Male mice's coat hairs on the dorsal skin were carefully clipped and then colored. Mice were randomly assigned into four groups, each with five animals: (1) Control group: Treated with D.W. (2), Minoxidil (5%) treated group (3), Methylsulfonylmethane (10%) treated group (4), Methylsulfonylmethane plus Minoxidil treated group. RESULTS Results: We found that the tissue level of 8-isoprastanein the groups receiving medication are considerably lower than in the control (D.W.). We also discovered that the serum tissue vascular endothelial growth factor levels in the groups receiving medication are considerably greater than those in the control (D.W.) groups. On the other hand, we discovered that hair growth, hair follicle expansion and hair follicle number are much higher in the groups receiving medication than in the control groups. CONCLUSION Conclusions: We concluded that MSM, through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, dramatically reduces hair loss in male mice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chronic telogen effluvium is characterised by diffuse loss of hair of the scalp. One of the emerging lines of treatment is platelet-rich plasma. However, not much of published data exist. AIMS A pilot study was conducted on chronic telogen effluvium patients to evaluate the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma, and to compare two different methods of platelet-rich plasma preparation. METHODS The study included 30 female patients with chronic telogen effluvium. Patients were randomised into three groups: Group (1): Special platelet-rich plasma tubes centrifuged at 3500 rpm; Group (2): Ordinary laboratory tubes centrifuged at 1000 rpm; Group (3): Normal saline as a placebo. Patients' evaluation was done with visual analog scale, hair pull test, trichoscopy, photos, satisfaction questionnaire, and safety. All patients received four monthly sessions. Patients were evaluated one month and three months after the last session. RESULTS The hair pull test,visual analogue scale, and patient satisfaction results showed a statistically significant difference between group 1 vs. group 3 and group 2 vs.group 3 at one and three months after the sessions, while there was no difference between group1 vs. group 2. Trichoscopy results (baseline, one and three months after treatment) showed a significant increase in hair density and thickness in the frontal area, temporal area, and the vertex in groups 1 and 2 only. There was no statistically significant difference between the three groups with regards to side effects. LIMITATIONS The sample size was small with ten patients in each group. Furthermore, the follow-up of patients was for only three months. CONCLUSIONS Platelet-rich plasma could be considered as a promising therapy for patients with chronic telogen effluvium with an excellent safety profile. The ordinary laboratory low-cost tubes might be a reliable alternative to the expensive special platelet-rich plasma kits tubes. The trial registry number is PACTR202006539654415.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of platelet-rich plasma has emerged as one of the most desired nonsurgical treatments for facial rejuvenation and hair restoration. It has grown to encompass a wide variety of applications within the field of plastic surgery, including its use in combination with microneedling, laser, and fat-grafting procedures. METHODS In this article, the authors aim to (1) describe the preparation process of platelet-rich plasma; (2) discuss the proposed science behind platelet-rich plasma with regard to its evolving role in hair restoration and facial rejuvenation; and (3) highlight the recent literature examining its widespread use. RESULTS Based on the available literature, there is a therapeutic advantage to the use of platelet-rich plasma as a single treatment modality for alopecia and skin rejuvenation and in combination with laser skin treatment and fat grafting. There is, however, a considerable amount of variability in the processing, preparation, and treatment modalities. CONCLUSIONS Despite a lack of standardized protocols for platelet-rich plasma preparation and a scarcity of large-scale studies with long-term follow-up, there is convincing evidence with objective measurement modalities that display positive outcomes after treatment for skin rejuvenation, hair regrowth, wound healing, and fat graft take.

Abstract
Considering the different forms, alopecia could be a very common condition with particular therapeutic concerns; thus, recent therapies still require further assessments. Aim of this systematic review was to evaluate efficacy, safety, and therapeutic durability of platelet rich plasma (PRP) in treating various forms of alopecia. A total of 64 articles were found through a systematic search, and eight original articles were included in the study, based on inclusion/exclusion criteria. In most studies (62.5%) patients' conditions had improved by receiving PRP therapy; these cases experienced an increase in growth and thickness of hair. Simultaneous use of PRP and Minoxidil demonstrated the highest rate of improvement and satisfaction. The highest efficacy in patients with alopecia areata was 76% and the lowest efficacy was 31.7% and in patients with androgenetic alopecia the highest efficacy was 42.75% and the lowest reported efficacy was 25.55%. The main side effect was pain due to PRP injection, which disappeared after ending the treatment and only one article reported more serious side effects. Recurrence after treatment was also reported in only one article. PRP is a safe and easy method for treating hair loss and has limited adverse effects. Optimization of this method depends on dosage, number of sessions and their intervals, and injection techniques. According to the results, the use of PRP due to its relatively high efficiency, low and tolerable side effects, and low recurrence rate can be a good method for the treatment of alopecia and hair loss.

Abstract
The goal of these recommendations is to provide a framework to practitioners for implementing useful, evidence-based recommendations for the preparation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and its use in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) assigned the task of preparing these recommendations to its taskforce on PRP. A comprehensive literature search was done in the English language on the PRP across multiple databases. The grade of evidence and strength of recommendation were evaluated on the GRADE (Grading of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) framework. A draft of clinical recommendations was developed on the best available evidence, which was also scrutinized and critically evaluated by the IADVL Academy of Dermatology. Based on the inputs received, the final consensus statement was prepared. A total of 30 articles (meta-analyses, prospective and retrospective studies, reviews [including chapters in books], and case series) were critically evaluated, and the evidence thus gathered was used in the preparation of these recommendations. This expert group recommends use of manual double-spin method for the preparation of PRP for AGA. Minimum three to five sessions of PRP are recommended for AGA with a gap of 1 month between the two sessions. Patients with Grade II to V Norwood Hamilton classification of AGA are the ideal subset for PRP. A total of 5 to 7 mL of PRP and 0.05 to 0.1 mL/cm2 is the recommended dose of PRP for AGA. Activation of PRP is not required when it is used for AGA. About 1 to 1.5 million platelets/μL of platelets in PRP is the recommended platelet concentration in PRP for the treatment of AGA. I-PRF (injectable platelet-rich fibrin) has also been found to be useful in AGA, although further studies are required to establish its role. PRP can also have an adjunctive role in hair transplantation procedures.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Alopecia areata (AA), also known as 'area Celsi', is the second most common form of hair loss affecting the scalp. Newly proposed treatments for AA include low-level light therapy, biologics such as Janus kinase inhibitors and autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is a well-known "elixir" for hair growth. Bioactive peptides developed through biotechnological applications have been used to overcome the limitations of PRP. More recently, the involvement of microbiota in hair growth disorders, in AA in particular, has been reported, and the usefulness of microbial metabolites, i.e. postbiotics, has been suggested. METHODS This study was a randomized double-blinded parallel-group study in which 160 persons of both sexes affected by AA and aged between 18 and 60 years were enrolled. The subjects were randomly assigned to a treatment group (group 1), receiving the TR-PRP plus-Celsi cosmetic product, and a placebo group (group 2). The SALT (Severity of Alopecia Tool) score was determined in both groups at baseline and after 2 and 3 months of treatment, and the results compared between groups. RESULTS The subjects in group 1 showed a significant change from baseline in SALT score at 2 months of treatment (61.04% ± 3.45%; p < 0.0001), with a further improvement at the end of treatment (3 months) (69.56% ± 4.32%; p < 0.0001). No significant changes from baseline were reported for the subjects in group 2 (T1: 26.45% ± 3.64%; T3: 27.63% ± 7.61%). CONCLUSIONS The results of this study provide further proof of the efficacy of bioactive peptides that mimick the growth factors present in PRP in subjects affected by AA. They also add to our knowledge of the link between microbiota and hair growth disorders, emphasizing the importance of studies on the microbial community and microbial metabolites as a novel therapeutic approach.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a new approach in dermatology and there is evidence to suggest that it provides excellent adjuvant treatment for nonscarring alopecia cases. There is evidence supporting the hypothesis that PRP therapy increases hair growth and thickness in patients with nonscarring alopecia. Studies including participants with scarring alopecia are limited and larger scale studies with tighter controls in PRP preparation, administration, and follow-up are needed to determine whether this is a clinically sound approach. Further symptom control analysis is also warranted as in both single and combination PRP therapy trials there are little data to support treatment effect on symptoms such as burning and itching. In this article, the author explains PRP preparation processes and PRP types and compares stand-alone PRP therapy with combination PRP study results. The author also makes recommendations for treatment and discusses the future of PRP research.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment may encourage hair growth by promoting cellular maturation, differentiation, and proliferation. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of PRP as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). MATERIALS AND METHODS A literature search combined with meta-analysis was used to calculate the overall standardized mean difference (SMD) in hair density in patients treated with PRP injections in comparison with baseline and placebo treatment. Chi squared analysis and Fisher exact test were used to investigate variation in protocols. RESULTS The overall SMD in hair density was 0.58 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.35-0.80) and 0.51 (95% CI: 0.23-0.80, p < .0004) in favor of PRP treatment when compared with baseline and placebo treatment, respectively. CONCLUSION Platelet-rich plasma is beneficial in the treatment of AGA. It is recommended that 3 monthly sessions of PRP (once monthly ×3 treatments) be used followed by a 3- to 6-month maintenance period.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Post-clipping alopecia often has a clinically poor response to therapy and prolonged alopecia is a source of anxiety for some owners. In humans and dogs, superficial microtrauma via a microneedling (MN) device induces mechanical stimulation of the hair follicle with resultant hair regrowth. Human studies suggest that concurrent application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with MN induces more rapid regrowth of better-quality hair than microneedling alone. HYPOTHESIS Microneedling with PRP will induce more rapid regrowth of better quality hair. ANIMALS Four unrelated client-owned dogs diagnosed with post-clipping alopecia. METHODS AND MATERIALS This was a prospective study. The affected site was divided in half, with the first half treated with MN alone and the second half treated with MN + PRP. Hair regrowth was assessed by clinician and owner using a hair growth assessment scale (HGAS) at one, three, six and 12 months. RESULTS At three months, all dogs had improved and three exhibited greater hair regrowth on the MN + PRP side. A similar response was noted bilaterally in three dogs, which had improved by 76-100% at six months and remained unchanged at 12 months. One dog improved by < 26% at six months, but had> 50% re-growth by 12 months. The small sample size precluded statistical analysis. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPORTANCE In dogs with post-clipping alopecia, MN + PRP appeared to induce more rapid hair regrowth than MN; however, overall results were visibly equivalent by six months regardless of method. Both MN and MN + PRP proved successful for treating post-clipping alopecia.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the intestinal anastomotic healing enhancing effect of platelets-rich plasma (PRP) using PRP-coated sutures in a rabbit model. A total of 30 mature male rabbits were divided into 3 groups (10 rabbits per group). Group 1 received uncoated sutures, group 2 received sodium acetate-coated sutures, and group 3 received PRP-coated sutures. Polyglactin 910 (Vicryl, USA), size 4-0 was used in all groups. Five rabbits of each group were euthanized on day 3 following the surgery while the remaining 5 rabbits were euthanized on day 10. Gross evaluation of the anastomotic site in PRP-coated sutures group demonstrated significantly (P < 0.05) lower adhesion formation scores on both days 3 and 10 of the study while in the control groups, evidence of leakage at the anastomotic site was present along with signs of haemorrhage and local inflammation. On day 10 in the control groups, there were strands of strong adhesions between the ileum, colon and cecum with large amount of fibrin deposited at the site of the anastomosis. Tissues of the anastomotic site revealed a significant level of hydroxyproline on day 10 in PRP-coated sutures group compared with control groups. Histopathological evaluation revealed significantly (P < 0.05) less inflammatory infiltration, and more angiogenesis and collagen deposition on day 10 in PRP-coated sutures group compared to the control groups. Results of this study clearly indicate promising healing enhancing effects of using PRP-coated sutures at intestinal anastomotic site with little to no obvious disadvantages.

Abstract
Alopecia, a frequently reported problem, severely impacts the quality of life of patients and is often associated with loss of confidence and low self-esteem. Several conditions such as telogen effluvium (TE), anagen effluvium, diffuse type of alopecia areata, female pattern hair loss, hair shaft abnormalities, loose anagen hair syndrome, and congenital atrichia or hypotrichosis are associated with hair loss. The actual prevalence rate of TE is not reported since most cases are subclinical in nature. Further, since women get more distressed by hair fall and promptly seek treatment, they tend to be over-represented. However, both genders can suffer from this condition if triggering factors are present. This consensus paper was developed by taking into account opinions of renowned experts in the field and is hoped to serve as an evidence-based platform for selecting efficacious and safe therapy for patients with TE. This review presents a synopsis of the key opinions of experts on all aspects of treatment and effective management of this condition.

Abstract
Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is a non-scarring auto-immune hair disorder. Recent researches explained the role of growth factors (GFs) in hair follicle cycling. The main reservoir of GFs are alpha-granules of platelets and novel procedures have been implemented aimed at collecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP has been safely implemented in many medical applications and has also been successfully used as alternative cell-based therapy for the treatment of hair growth disorders, among which also AA. Objectives: By means of a randomized double-blinded, placebo and active-controlled, parallel group study we have studied the efficacy of a cosmetic product (named TR-M-PRP plus) comprising biomimetic peptides specific for hair growth, mimicking PRP composition for the treatment of AA. Subjects were treated for three months and evaluated, at the end of the study and after one month of follow-up, as regards hair growth using SALT score. Results: TR-M-PRP plus-like topic produced a statistically significant (p < .001) clinical improvement in SALT score after 3 months of therapy, compared to baseline. Hair growth results further improved after 1 month of follow-up. Conclusions: This clinical investigation suggests that the biotechnological designed PRP-like cosmetic could represent a valid and safer alternative to autologous PRP for the treatment of AA.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine and metabolic disorders in premenopausal women. Heterogeneous by nature, PCOS is defined by a combination of signs and symptoms of androgen excess and ovarian dysfunction in the absence of other specific diagnoses. The aetiology of this syndrome remains largely unknown, but mounting evidence suggests that PCOS might be a complex multigenic disorder with strong epigenetic and environmental influences, including diet and lifestyle factors. PCOS is frequently associated with abdominal adiposity, insulin resistance, obesity, metabolic disorders and cardiovascular risk factors. The diagnosis and treatment of PCOS are not complicated, requiring only the judicious application of a few well-standardized diagnostic methods and appropriate therapeutic approaches addressing hyperandrogenism, the consequences of ovarian dysfunction and the associated metabolic disorders. This article aims to provide a balanced review of the latest advances and current limitations in our knowledge about PCOS while also providing a few clear and simple principles, based on current evidence-based clinical guidelines, for the proper diagnosis and long-term clinical management of women with PCOS.
