Abstract
Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have demonstrated significant efficacy in obesity treatment beyond their original development for type-2 diabetes management. This comprehensive study investigated the relationship between GLP-1RA use and cancer incidence in individuals with obesity across a 5-year follow-up period. Methods: We conducted a large-scale cohort study using the TriNetX US Collaborative Network database (2013-2023) examining adult patients with obesity. The study utilized propensity score matching to pair GLP-1RA-treated patients with controls (1:1) using the nearest neighbor method. Cancer incidence served as the primary outcome measure over the 5-year follow-up, with subgroup analyses considering individual GLP-1RA agents, patient sex, and BMI categories. Results: Analysis revealed significant cancer-risk reductions associated with GLP-1RA use across multiple cancer types compared to matched controls. Notable risk reductions were observed in gastrointestinal (HR 0.67, 95% CI 0.59-0.75), skin (HR 0.62, 95% CI 0.55-0.70), breast (HR 0.72, 95% CI 0.64-0.82), female genital (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.53-0.71), prostate (HR 0.68, 95% CI 0.58-0.80), and lymphoid/hematopoietic cancers (HR 0.69, 95% CI 0.60-0.80). Semaglutide demonstrated superior protective effects, particularly in gastrointestinal cancers (HR 0.45, 95% CI 0.37-0.53). Conversely, liraglutide showed increased risks for thyroid (HR 1.70, 95% CI 1.03-2.82) and respiratory cancers (HR 1.62, 95% CI 1.13-2.32). Conclusions: This research provides compelling evidence for GLP-1RA's potential role in cancer-risk reduction, with semaglutide showing particularly promising results. The differential effects observed among GLP-1RA agents emphasize the importance of personalized medicine approaches. These findings suggest significant implications for clinical practice and future research in both obesity management and cancer prevention.

Abstract
PURPOSE Dulaglutide is a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist that is not cleared by the kidneys and has proven efficacy and safety in patients with diabetic kidney disease. We aimed to evaluate the 1-year efficacy of dulaglutide in patients with diabetic kidney disease who have used the drug for more than 1 year. METHODS This retrospective, observational study comprised 131 patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 who had received dulaglutide for more than one year between June 2016 and May 2023. The primary outcome measures were changes in glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and body weight from baseline to the 12-month follow-up, with assessments performed at six-month intervals. Subgroup analyses were conducted based on age, sex, baseline body mass index, FPG, and HbA1c, and insulin administration at baseline and last follow-up. FINDINGS The mean age was 60.0 ± 10.2 years, and 61.1% of the participants were males. Baseline HbA1c, FPG, and body weight were 9.1% (76.0 mmol/mol), 186.8 mg/dL, and 79.3 kg, respectively. Dulaglutide significantly reduced HbA1c, FPG, and body weight from baseline to the 12-month follow-up (mean ± standard error: -1.2 ± 0.1%, -34.8 ± 6.9 mg/dL, and -2.3 ± 0.5 kg, respectively; P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis revealed significant differences in HbA1c reduction based on baseline HbA1c. IMPLICATIONS Dulaglutide exhibited sustained glucose-lowering and weight-reduction effects during the initial 1 year of treatment in patients with diabetic kidney disease. Altogether, dulaglutide could serve as a favorable long-term therapeutic option for patients with diabetic kidney disease in real-world clinical settings.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Optimal glycemic management after diabetes onset remains a challenge in Hispanic/Latino adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D), often resulting in poor health outcomes and higher rates of diabetes-related complications. The aim of this study was to examine and compare demographic and clinical characteristics, glycemic outcomes, health care resource utilization (HCRU), and costs among injection-naïve Hispanic/Latino adults with T2D initiating dulaglutide or basal insulin. METHODS This retrospective, observational study used administrative claims data from the Optum Research Database. Hispanic/Latino adults with T2D were assigned to dulaglutide or basal insulin cohorts on the basis of pharmacy claims and were propensity-score matched on demographic and baseline characteristics. Measures of glycemic management included 12 month follow-up glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and change in HbA1c from baseline. Follow-up all-cause and diabetes-related HCRU and costs, including costs per 1% change in HbA1c, were compared between cohorts. RESULTS The final propensity-score matched sample included 2872 patients: 1436 patients in each cohort. Mean (SD) reduction in HbA1c from baseline to 12 month follow-up was greater in the dulaglutide cohort compared with the basal insulin cohort [-1.40% (1.88) versus -0.92% (2.07); p < 0.001]. The dulaglutide cohort had significantly lower proportions of patients with ≥ 1 all-cause and diabetes-related outpatient visits, emergency room visits, and inpatient stays compared with the basal insulin cohort (p < 0.05). The dulaglutide cohort had significantly lower all-cause total costs per 1% HbA1c reduction than the basal insulin cohort ($13,768 versus $19,128; p < 0.001). Diabetes-related costs per 1% reduction were numerically lower for the dulaglutide cohort, but the difference was not statistically significant ($9737 versus $11,403; p = 0.081). CONCLUSIONS Dulaglutide demonstrated better glycemic outcomes and lower all-cause costs per 1% HbA1c reduction among Hispanic/Latino adults compared with those initiating basal insulin. Our real-world findings in the Hispanic/Latino population were consistent with results obtained from the overall population and confirm the glycemic benefits of dulaglutide observed in clinical settings.

Abstract
Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 agonists) are effective hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and weight-lowering agents. The treatment effect is unknown in patients with HbA1c of 9% or greater. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate glycemic control and weight loss after adding a GLP-1 agonist in patients with a baseline HbA1c of 9% (75 mmol/mol) or greater. Methods: A single-health system retrospective chart review screened adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus with a baseline hemoglobin A1c of 9% (75 mmol/mol) or greater and were prescribed a GLP-1 agonist for eligibility. The primary outcome assessed was the change in HbA1c from baseline to the first HbA1c check. Secondary outcomes included change in weight (kg) from baseline to the first HbA1c check. Results: Three hundred sixty-two patients were screened of which 151 (41.7%) were included in the final analysis. The mean change in HbA1c from baseline to first HbA1c check for all participants was -2.1% (95% CI: -2.3% to -1.8%; P < .001; -23 mmol/mol [95% CI: -25 to -20 mmol/mol]). The mean change in weight from baseline to first HbA1c check was -2.0 kg (95% CI: -2.6 kg to -1.4 kg; P < .001). Conclusion: In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with a baseline HbA1c ≥ 9%, GLP-1 agonist initiation resulted in a significant reduction of both HbA1c and weight compared to baseline. Large, prospective, multisite studies are needed to confirm findings of this retrospective study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adiposity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are common characteristics of metabolic syndrome (MS). Understanding the underlying pathogenesis is crucial for the development of new remedies. Resveratrol controls obesity and glycemic disorders in patients with MS. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to evaluate the effect of resveratrol and dulaglutide on adipose tissues and liver in rats with MS, declaring their possible mechanisms. METHODS Rats allocated as Control, MS (induced by a high fat/ high sucrose diet for eight weeks), MS + Resveratrol (30 mg/kg/day orally), and MS + Dulaglutide (0.6 mg/kg twice weekly SC); drugs administration was in the last four weeks. Serum biochemical measurements were done. Liver and visceral fat were processed for biochemistry, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS MS results demonstrated significantly increased systolic and diastolic blood pressure, anthropometric measurements, serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), glycemic indices, and lipids with decreased HDL-C. Tissue levels of leptin, malondialdehyde (MDA), and TNF-α reactivity significantly increased. Expression of adiponectin, PPARγ, and insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) decreased. Also, Western blotting mRNA gene expression of liver SIRT-1 was down-regulated. Resveratrol and dulaglutide significantly and effectively reversed MS complexity, ameliorating all findings, particularly NAFLD and adiposity-induced inflammation. Resveratrol significantly appears superior to dulaglutide regarding the effects on hemodynamics, lipids, adipokines, IGF-1 levels, and adipocyte size. Parallel, dulaglutide has more influence on glycemic control. CONCLUSION Protective effects of the drugs may be through correlations between SIRT-1/adipokines/IGF-1 and PPARγ, improving the cross-talk between insulin resistance, obesity markers, liver dysfunction, and TNF-α. Promising multi-beneficial therapies of resveratrol or dulaglutide in MS are recommended clinically for this purpose. Showing the Experimental Design.

Abstract
Despite recent leaps in modern medicine, progress in the treatment of neurological diseases remains slow. The near impermeable blood-brain barrier (BBB) that prevents the entry of therapeutics into the brain, and the complexity of neurological processes, limits the specificity of potential therapeutics. Moreover, a lack of etiological understanding and the irreversible nature of neurological conditions have resulted in low tolerability and high failure rates towards existing small molecule-based treatments. Neuropeptides, which are small proteinaceous molecules produced by the body, either in the nervous system or the peripheral organs, modulate neurological function. Although peptide-based therapeutics originated from the treatment of metabolic diseases in the 1920s, the adoption and development of peptide drugs for neurological conditions are relatively recent. In this review, we examine the natural roles of neuropeptides in the modulation of neurological function and the development of neurological disorders. Furthermore, we highlight the potential of these proteinaceous molecules in filling gaps in current therapeutics.

Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of once-weekly dulaglutide therapy as add-on to oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs) and basal insulin in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in real-world clinical practice. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 112 patients who received dulaglutide in a tertiary referral center. The primary efficacy endpoint was a change in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) between baseline and 6 months. The secondary endpoints were the percentage of patients achieving HbA1c <7.0% or ≤6.5% and the change of body weight at 6 months. At baseline, the mean HbA1c was 8.7 % (8.8% in the OAD combination and 8.5% in the basal insulin combination group). The mean adjusted HbA1c at 6 months decreased by -1.13% in all patients (p<0.001), and by -1.36 and -0.74% in the OAD combination and basal insulin combination group, respectively. A significant reduction of -2.9 kg in body weight was observed in all patients at 6 months (p<0.001). Approximately 34.8% and 23.2% of patients achieved HbA1c <7.0% and ≤6.5%, respectively. Higher baseline HbA1c and no previous insulin therapy were associated with positive responses to dulaglutide on multivariate analysis. Mild gastrointestinal issues (23.2%) were the most frequently observed adverse events. Dulaglutide is an effective and durable treatment option as OAD and basal insulin combination therapy in Korean patients with T2DM.

Abstract
Results from cardiovascular outcomes trials (CVOTs) in people with Type 2 diabetes (T2D), such as the Researching Cardiovascular Events with a Weekly Incretin in Diabetes (REWIND) study with dulaglutide, have led to a shift toward glucose lowering therapies that provide broad benefits, including cardiovascular (CV) risk reduction and renoprotection. Dulaglutide reduces atherosclerotic CV outcomes (hazard ratio 0.88; 95% CI: 0.79-0.99) and composite kidney outcomes (hazard ratio 0.85; 95% CI: 0.77-0.93) in people with T2D with high risk or established CV disease. The cardiologists' role has now expanded to include not only screening for T2D and treating risk factors, but also recommending or incorporating glucose-lowering agents with proven CV benefit into the care of their patients with T2D.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare efficacy and safety of dulaglutide at doses of 3.0 and 4.5 mg versus 1.5 mg in patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with metformin. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Patients were randomly assigned to once-weekly dulaglutide 1.5 mg, 3.0 mg, or 4.5 mg for 52 weeks. The primary objective was determining superiority of dulaglutide 3.0 mg and/or 4.5 mg over 1.5 mg in HbA1c reduction at 36 weeks. Secondary superiority objectives included change in body weight. Two estimands addressed efficacy objectives: treatment regimen (regardless of treatment discontinuation or rescue medication) and efficacy (on treatment without rescue medication) in all randomly assigned patients. RESULTS Mean baseline HbA1c and BMI in randomly assigned patients (N = 1,842) was 8.6% (70 mmol/mol) and 34.2 kg/m2, respectively. At 36 weeks, dulaglutide 4.5 mg provided superior HbA1c reductions compared with 1.5 mg (treatment-regimen estimand: -1.77 vs. -1.54% [-19.4 vs. -16.8 mmol/mol], estimated treatment difference [ETD] -0.24% (-2.6 mmol/mol), P < 0.001; efficacy estimand: -1.87 vs. -1.53% [-20.4 vs. -16.7 mmol/mol], ETD -0.34% (-3.7 mmol/mol), P < 0.001). Dulaglutide 3.0 mg was superior to 1.5 mg for reducing HbA1c, using the efficacy estimand (ETD -0.17% [-1.9 mmol/mol]; P = 0.003) but not the treatment-regimen estimand (ETD -0.10% [-1.1 mmol/mol]; P = 0.096). Dulaglutide 4.5 mg was superior to 1.5 mg for weight loss at 36 weeks for both estimands (treatment regimen: -4.6 vs. -3.0 kg, ETD -1.6 kg, P < 0.001; efficacy: -4.7 vs. -3.1 kg, ETD -1.6 kg, P < 0.001). Common adverse events through 36 weeks included nausea (1.5 mg, 13.4%; 3 mg, 15.6%; 4.5 mg, 16.4%) and vomiting (1.5 mg, 5.6%; 3 mg, 8.3%; 4.5 mg, 9.3%). CONCLUSIONS In patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by metformin, escalation from dulaglutide 1.5 mg to 3.0 mg or 4.5 mg provided clinically relevant, dose-related reductions in HbA1c and body weight with a similar safety profile.

Abstract
The glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) dulaglutide has many characteristics to recommend it both as a second-line agent and as an alternative to or in combination with insulin. This commentary summarises recent updates to diabetes management guidelines regarding the use of GLP-1RAs such as dulaglutide, both as a second-line agent and as a first-line injectable agent in type 2 diabetes (T2D). It also examines how the Assessment of Weekly AdministRation of LY2189265 [dulaglutide] in Diabetes (AWARD) studies with dulaglutide and insulin may help to guide clinical practice for the use of dulaglutide as an alternative to basal insulin or in combination with insulin.Individualising glucose-lowering therapy is important in patients with T2D, especially given patients' heterogeneity in terms of age, lifestyle, disease duration, level of hyperglycaemia and comorbidities. Choice of therapy should be guided by clinical considerations (e.g. high risk or existing cardiovascular [CV] disease, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, risk of hypoglycaemia), side effect profile, contraindications, patient preferences and cost. The recently updated American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes (ADA/EASD) guidelines now recommend adding a GLP-1RA with proven CV benefit to metformin in patients with T2D and indicators of high risk or established atherosclerotic CV disease. The AWARD studies demonstrate that dulaglutide provides effective glucose lowering together with sustained weight loss and a low incidence of hypoglycaemia when used as the first injectable option and when used in combination with titrated basal insulin or prandial insulin, providing a valid treatment option across a wide range of patients with T2D, including those with chronic kidney disease.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Gastrointestinal (GI) events are a common side effect of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RA) class. This post hoc analysis assessed the characteristics of GI adverse events in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who were treated with once-weekly dulaglutide from two randomized clinical trials. METHODS Chinese patients with T2D, treated with once-weekly dulaglutide (1.5 mg and 0.75 mg) from two phase III multicenter trials (AWARD-CHN1 and AWARD-CHN2) were included. Descriptive statistics were used to present the data. The characteristics (incidence, severity, onset, duration, and time of occurrence) of GI adverse events reported through 26 weeks in a Chinese subpopulation from the two trials were investigated. RESULTS A total of 787 Chinese patients with T2D were included in this analysis. Up to week 26, 225 patients (28.6%) reported at least one GI treatment-emergent adverse event (TEAE). The most frequently reported GI TEAEs were diarrhea (13.1%), nausea (6.6%), abdominal distension (6.4%), and vomiting (3.0%), with most being categorized as mild to moderate in severity in proportions of 92%, 88%, 94%, and 83%, respectively. A total of 12 patients (1.5%) discontinued the dulaglutide treatment as a result of GI TEAEs. The median duration of the first reported GI TEAEs was 4.0, 5.0, 12.5, and 4.0 days for diarrhea, nausea, abdominal distension, and vomiting, respectively. The incidence of GI TEAEs was more frequent during the first 2 weeks of dulaglutide treatment; however, the incidence declined rapidly after 2 weeks and remained low until week 26. CONCLUSIONS Most of the GI TEAEs associated with once-weekly dulaglutide (1.5 mg and 0.75 mg) were mild to moderate in severity. The incidence of GI TEAEs was more pronounced during the first 2 weeks of dulaglutide treatment but declined rapidly as treatment continued, and was low at week 26, indicating that dulaglutide was well tolerated in Chinese patients with T2D. Abstract
The provocative idea that type 2 diabetes (T2D) may be a surgically treated disorder is based on accumulating evidence suggesting impressive remission rates of obesity and diabetes following bariatric surgery interventions. According to the "anti-incretin" theory, ingestion of food in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, apart from activating the well-described incretin effect, also results in the parallel stimulation of a series of negative feedback mechanisms (anti-incretin effect). The primary goal of these regulations is to counteract the effects of incretins and other postprandial glucose-lowering adaptive mechanisms. Disruption of the equilibrium between incretins and anti-incretins could be an additional pathway leading to the development of insulin resistance and hyperglycemia. This theory provides an alternative theoretical framework to explain the mechanisms behind the optimal effects of metabolic surgery on T2D and underlines the importance of the GI tract in the homeostatic regulation of energy balance in humans. The anti-incretin concept is currently based on a limited amount of evidence and certainly requires further validation by additional studies. The aim of the present review is to discuss and critically evaluate recent evidence on the anti-incretin theory, providing an insight into current state and future perspectives.

Abstract
Peptides are considered as potent therapeutic drugs primarily due to the exquisite potency and selectivity to targets. However, the development and clinical application of peptide drugs were severely limited by the poor in vivo lifespans. Here, we designed an improved small albumin-binding polypeptide that can associate with human serum albumin (HSA) and liberate the bioactive peptide. Using glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) as a model, two new long-lasting GLP-1 analogs (termed XTS1 and XTS2) containing an albumin-binding domain, a protease-cleavable linker and a mutated GLP-1(A8Aib) were designed to demonstrate the sustained release of GLP-1 due to the plasma thrombin (TBN) digestion. Two XTS peptides were prepared of high purity (>99%) and accurate molecular weight determined by reversed high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, respectively. In vitro measurements of surface plasmon resonance indicated that XTS1 associate with serum albumins of all species with higher affinity compared with XTS2. Metabolic stability of XTS1 in vitro in human plasma was also better than that of XTS2. Protease cleavage assay results of XTS peptides demonstrated the controlled-release of transient GLP-1 from the XTS1 and XTS2 mixture after thrombin-catalyzed hydrolysis. Then the intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test (IPGTT) showed that the glucose-lowering efficacies of XTS1 were in a dosage-dependent manner within the range of 0.1–0.9 mg kg−1. In addition, XTS1 showed similar hypoglycemic intensity and significantly longer action duration compared to Liraglutide in both multiple IPGTTs and hypoglycemic duration test. Apparently extended plasma half-lives of ∼2.3 and ∼3.5 days were observed after a single subcutaneous administration of XTS1 (0.9 mg kg−1) in rats and cynomolgus monkeys, respectively. Furthermore, twice-weekly subcutaneously dosed XTS1 in db/db mice achieved long-term beneficial effects on body weight, hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) lowering and the function of pancreatic beta cells. These studies support that XTS1 exerts potential as a therapeutic drug for the treatment of T2DM. Abstract
INTRODUCTION This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and clinical factors affecting the glycemic response to dulaglutide in type 2 diabetes (T2D) in a real-world clinical setting. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study of 234 patients at the Asan Medical Center, Republic of Korea, who had T2D and initiated dulaglutide from June 2016 to December 2017. The primary outcome was the change in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) concentration between baseline and 6 months after the initiation of therapy. Multivariate regression analysis was used to determine the clinical parameters contributing to a superior glycemic response to dulaglutide. RESULTS The mean age of the patients was 53, and 50% were male. Their mean baseline HbA1c, body mass index and duration of diabetes were 8.8%, 27.6 kg/m2 and 10.2 years, respectively. The change in HbA1c between baseline and 6 months was - 0.92% (95% CI: - 1.1% to - 0.74%, p < 0.001). The reduction in body weight over the same period was -2.1 kg (95% CI: - 2.9 to - 1.3 kg, p < 0.001). Using multivariate regression analysis, baseline HbA1c was found to be a significant predictor of superior glycemic response to dulaglutide. CONCLUSION The use of dulaglutide was associated with a significant reduction in HbA1c and body weight over a 6-month period in a real-world clinical setting. T2D patients with higher baseline HbA1c concentrations were more likely to demonstrate good clinical responses to dulaglutide.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE While dulaglutide has been approved inpatients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in combination with insulin, it has not been studied in insulin-deficient patients, not whether they have type 1 diabetes (T1DM) or T2DM. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of dulaglutide 0.75 mg/once weekly (QW) in patients with absolute insulin deficiency (n=10). SUBJECTS AND RESULTS Significant reductions of HbA1c (9.30±1.03% to 8.61±1.21%; p<0.02) and body mass index (BMI; 23.61±3.95 to 23.41±4.24; p<0.02) levels were observed at 3 months with the addition of dulaglutide to the existing pharmacotherapy. However, in all the patients, post-meal C-peptide levels remained undetectable. One patient had gastrointestinal adverse events and discontinue dulaglutide within the first month. One patient was a non-responder, who had little if any changes in HbA1c levels at 3 months. CONCLUSIONS The results indicate that dulaglutide is effective in patients with T1DM or T2DM with absolute insulin deficiency, though gastrointestinal adverse events might be of concern. The improvements in glycemic control could not be due to enhanced insulin secretion, but may be as a result of a combination of the other effects of glucagon like peptide 1 (GLP-1), such as postprandial glucagon suppression, delayed gastric emptying, and weight loss.

Abstract
Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) have a substantial risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The strong connection between the severity of hyperglycaemia, metabolic changes secondary to T2DM and vascular damage increases the risk of macrovascular complications. There is a challenging demand for the development of drugs that control hyperglycaemia and influence other metabolic risk factors to improve cardiovascular outcomes such as cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, hospitalization for unstable angina and heart failure (major adverse cardiovascular events). In recent years, introduction of the new drug class of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) has changed the treatment landscape as GLP-1RAs have become well-established therapies in T2DM. The benefits of GLP-1RAs are derived from their pleiotropic effects, which include appetite control, glucose-dependent secretion of insulin and inhibition of glucagon secretion. Importantly, their beneficial effects extend to the cardiovascular system. Large clinical trials have evaluated the cardiovascular effects of GLP-1RAs in patients with T2DM and elevated risk of cardiovascular disease and the results are very promising. However, important aspects still require elucidation, such as the specific mechanisms involved in the cardioprotective effects of these drugs. Careful interpretation is necessary because of the heterogeneity across the trials concerning the definition of cardiovascular risk or cardiovascular disease, baseline characteristics, routine care and event rates. The aim of this review is to describe the main clinical aspects of the GLP-1RAs, compare them using data from both the mechanistic and randomized controlled trials and discuss potential reasons for improved cardiovascular outcomes observed in these trials. This review may help clinicians to decide which treatment is most appropriate in reducing cardiovascular risk in patients with T2DM.
