Abstract
Chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed couplings of C-alkynyl N,N'-di-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-aminals with β-naphthols led to chiral propargylamines in moderate to high yields with high to excellent enantioselectivity, in which the reactions underwent sequential chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed in situ formation of N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-imines (N-Boc-imines) from the aminals, and 1,2-addition of β-naphthols to the N-Boc-imines. Chiral 1,2-dihydronaphtho[2,1-b]furans and naphtho[2,1-b]furans were prepared with satisfactory results when 10 mol% AgOAc and 20 mol% 2,6-lutidine or 1.2 equiv. of 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) were added to the resulting chiral propargylamines solution, respectively.

Abstract
The design strategy and the performance of binaphthyl-based chiral ligands were evaluated with computation and enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes. Under optimized conditions, enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes provided the desired optically active secondary alcohols in high isolated yields (up to 91%) and excellent enantiomeric excesses (up to 98% ee).

Abstract
The scale-up of the ruthenium- and enzyme-catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of (rac)-1-phenylethanol (2) is addressed. The immobilized lipase Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) was employed for the resolution, which shows high enantioselectivity in the transesterification. The ruthenium catalyst used, (η5-C5Ph5)RuCl(CO)21, was shown to possess very high reactivity in the "in situ" redox racemization of 1-phenylethanol (2) in the presence of the immobilized enzyme, and could be used in 0.05 mol% with high efficiency. Commercially available isopropenyl acetate was employed as acylating agent in the lipase-catalyzed transesterifications, which makes the purification of the product very easy. In a successful large-scale DKR of 2, with 0.05 mol% of 1, (R)-1-phenylethanol acetate (3) was obtained in 159 g (97% yield) in excellent enantiomeric excess (99.8% ee).
