Abstract
During embryonic and fetal development, the cerebellum undergoes several histological changes that require a specific microenvironment. Pleiotrophin (PTN) has been related to cerebral and cerebellar cortex ontogenesis in different species. PTN signaling includes PTPRZ1, ALK, and NRP-1 receptors, which are implicated in cell differentiation, migration, and proliferation. However, its involvement in human cerebellar development has not been described so far. Therefore, we investigated whether PTN and its receptors were expressed in the human cerebellar cortex during fetal and early neonatal development. The expression profile of PTN and its receptors was analyzed using an immunohistochemical method. PTN, PTPRZ1, and NRP-1 were expressed from week 17 to the postnatal stage, with variable expression among granule cell precursors, glial cells, and Purkinje cells. ALK was only expressed during week 31. These results suggest that, in the fetal and neonatal human cerebellum, PTN is involved in cell communication through granule cell precursors, Bergmann glia, and Purkinje cells via PTPRZ1, NRP-1, and ALK signaling. This communication could be involved in cell proliferation and cellular migration. Overall, the present study represents the first characterization of PTN, PTPRZ1, ALK, and NRP-1 expression in human tissues, suggesting their involvement in cerebellar cortex development.

Abstract
Objectives The relationship between cancer and subclinical atherosclerosis has always been the focus of people's attention. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by evaluating the effects of cancer on functional and structural markers of subclinical atherosclerosis:intima-media thickness (IMT), pulse wave velocity (PWV), and flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD). Methods A comprehensive and systematic literature search was conducted on the internet. Sensitivity analysis, publication bias, standard mean difference (SMD), corresponding 95% confidence interval (95% CI), and subgroup analysis were performed for all relevant research indicators in the retrieved literature. Results Forty-six studies were included, including 3,729 cancer patients and 2,404 healthy controls. Cancer patients had significantly thicker IMT [SMD (95%CI) = 0.290 (0.069 to 0.511), P = 0.010] and higher PWV [SMD (95%CI) = 0.392 (0.136 to 0.647), P = 0.003] compared with healthy controls. There was no significant difference in FMD [SMD (95% CI) = −0.192 (−0.527 to 0.144), P > 0.05). After subgrouping by age, male proportion, and treatment, the analysis results of IMT ≥ 50 years old, PWV and FMD < 50 years old, male proportion ≥50%, chemotherapy group, IMT and PWV radiotherapy group, and PWV endocrine therapy group were statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in other subgroup analyses, overall sensitivity analysis, and publication bias (p < 0.05). Conclusions Cancer may promote subclinical atherosclerosis, and change the functional and structural markers of subclinical atherosclerosis such as IMT and PWV. Early intervention and prevention should be pursued.

Abstract
Pulmonary hypertension (PAH) is one of the more serious complications of Chronic kidney disease (CKD), and its exact pathogenesis has not been clarified. As an upstream proinflammatory factor, macrophage migration inhibitor (MIF) is involved in the occurrence and development of many diseases. This study aimed to detect the relationship between serum MIF and PAH in non-dialysis CKD patients. A total of 382 non-dialysis CKD patients were enrolled in this study. Bio-Plex cytokine assay was used to detect MIF. CKD patients were divided into the PAH group and non-PAH group according to echocardiographic results. Relative risk was determined by logistic regression analysis. The pulmonary artery pressure in the CKD group was higher than that in the control group ( p < 0.01). Pulmonary arterial pressure was higher in stage 4 to 5 CKD patients than in Stage 1 to 3 CKD patients ( p < 0. 01), and the incidence of PAH was also increased ( p < 0. 01). MIF in the CKD group were higher than in the control group ( p < 0.05). MIF in CKD patients with PAH were higher than those without PAH ( p < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that MIF is correlated with PAH (OR = 10.745; 95% CI 2.288–89.447, p < 0.05). PAH is common in non-dialysis CKD patients, and with the deterioration of kidney disease, the incidence of PAH is gradually increased, indicating that MIF plays an important role in the development of PAH in CKD patients.
