Abstract
Background The co-occurrence of suicidality and substance use disorders has been well established, but rating scales to examine suicidal behavior and risk are sparse among participants with substance use disorders. We examined the psychometric properties of the 16-item Concise Health Risk Tracking Scale - Self Report (CHRT-SR16) to measure suicidality among adults with moderate-to-severe methamphetamine use disorder. Methods Participants (n = 403) with moderate-to-severe methamphetamine use disorder completed the CHRT-SR16 as part of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pharmacotherapy trial. The CHRT-SR16 factor structure was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Internal consistency was estimated with coefficients alpha (α) and omega (ω), test-retest reliability with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and standard error of measurement, and convergent validity using Spearman's ρ rank order correlation coefficient test between CHRT-SR16 factors and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). The analyses utilized baseline and week 1 data (for test-retest reliability only). Results CFA revealed a seven-factor model of Pessimism, Helplessness, Social Support, Despair, Impulsivity, Irritability, and Suicidal Thoughts as the best-fitting model. The CHRT-SR16 also exhibited strong internal consistency (α = 0.89; ω = 0.89), test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.78) and convergent validity with the PHQ-9 total score (ρ = 0.62). Conclusion The CHRT-SR16 showed strong psychometric properties in a sample of participants with primary methamphetamine use disorder. Clinicaltrialsgov Identifier NCT03078075.

Abstract
Although men are more likely to die by suicide, women experience a greater and more rapidly increasing rate of suicidal ideation (SI) and are 3 times more likely to attempt suicide than men. Despite this increased risk, little is known about factors that contribute to SI or suicide attempts (SA) among women. We examined factors associated with SI and SA among women and identified mood-related symptoms that differentiate women who reported attempting suicide from those who did not. Women at elevated risk for depression from across the U.S. (N = 3372; age 18 to 90) completed a survey regarding depression, anxiety, sociodemographic and reproductive status, behavioral/mental health history, and exposure to adversity. Structural equation modeling and logistic regression were used to analyze the data. Variables with the most significant relationships to SI were severity of depression (OR = 5.2, p = 0.000) and perceived stress (OR = 1.18, p = 0.000) while frequency of suicidal thoughts (OR = 3.3, p = 0.000), family history of a depression diagnosis (OR = 1.6, p = 0.000) and exposure to violence (OR = 1.9, p = 0.000) had the strongest association with SA. Childhood abuse/trauma was associated with SA (OR = 1.13, p = 0.000) but not SI. 'Feeling bad about themselves, a failure, or having let themselves or their family down' was the symptom that most clearly differentiated women who attempted suicide from women who reported suicidal ideation but no SA. The salience of childhood abuse and domestic/community violence to women's risk for a suicide attempt reinforces previous findings that these adversities may differentiate suicide risk for women versus men. Continued research is essential to understand varied paths that may lead to suicidal behavior among women, some which appear unrelated to the frequency or intensity of their suicidal thoughts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous research on body image distress mainly relied on samples that were small, generally homogeneous in age or sex, often limited to one geographical region, and were characterized by a lack of comprehensive analysis of multiple psychosocial domains. The research presented in this paper extends the international literature using the results of the web-based Global Health and Wellbeing Survey 2015. The survey included a large sample of both men and women aged ≥16 years from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States. OBJECTIVE The main objectives of this study are to examine body image distress across the adult life span (≥16 years) and sex and assess the association between body image distress and various psychosocial risk and protective factors. METHODS Data were extracted from the Global Health and Wellbeing Survey 2015, a web-based international self-report survey with 10,765 respondents, and compared with previous web-based surveys conducted in 2009 and 2012. RESULTS The body image distress of young Australians (aged 16-25 years) significantly rose by 33% from 2009 to 2015. In 2015, 75.19% (961/1278) of 16- to 25-year-old adults reported body image distress worldwide, and a decline in body image distress was noted with increasing age. More women reported higher levels of body image distress than men (1953/3338, 58.51% vs 853/2175, 39.22%). Sex, age, current dieting status, perception of weight, psychological distress, alcohol and other substance misuse, and well-being significantly explained 24% of the variance in body image distress in a linear regression (F15,4966=105.8; P<.001). CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrates the significant interplay between body image distress and psychosocial factors across age and sex.
