Abstract
Introduction Crack formation has become an important issue for endodontists, as it can be decisive for the long-term prognosis of the endodontically treated tooth. Since the applicability of laser in endodontics has become frequent, this systematic review aimed to evaluate the association between laser therapy and the formation of cracks in the dentinal structure of the root canal. Materials and Methods A search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Virtual Health Library, as well as in the gray literature, on September 24, 2021. Studies that evaluated the formation of cracks in human root dentin due to different types of lasers were included. The risk of bias was assessed following the modified version of the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) checklist tool. A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate (i) the total number of crack incidences; (ii) complete crack formation; (iii) incomplete crack formation; (iv) intra-dentinal crack formation between ultrasonic tips and laser use. The mean difference was calculated with a 95% confidence interval in a fixed-effect model, the heterogeneity was tested using the I2 index with level of significance of 5%. Results Of the 22 studies included in this review, 15 have shown that lasers can form cracks in root dentin, including those that performed baseline assessment of samples. The meta-analysis confirmed no difference in crack formation between ultrasonic tips and laser devices. Conclusions Laser therapy has been gaining prominence in endodontics and that irradiation can form and propagate cracks in the dentinal structure of the root canal assessed by in vitro studies. This is a critical concern for endodontists as it affects the strength and longevity of the tooth. Future research is encouraged to seek the standardization of good methodological practices and achieve establishing parameters to minimize harmful effects of laser on dentin.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the microcrack formation of moderately and severely curved root canals following instrumentation with Neoniti rotary files using micro-computed tomography. This in vitro study evaluated 18 extracted sound mandibular molars with two separate mesial canals and foramina in two groups (n = 9) with 5−20° (moderate) and 20−40° (severe) root canal curvature. The number of microcracks in the root canal walls was counted at baseline by micro-CT. Subsequently, the root canals were instrumented with 0.20/0.06 v Neoniti files as single files with a torque of 1.5 Ncm and a speed of 400 rpm. The number of microcracks was counted again postoperatively on micro-CT images using Amira software. Statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro−Wilk test, Levene’s test and repeated-measures ANOVA (α = 0.05). The mean number of microcracks significantly increased postoperatively in both the moderately curved (11.59 ± 9.74 vs. 8.2 ± 7.4; p = 0.001) and the severely curved (13.23 ± 5.64 vs. 7.20 ± 5.94; p < 0.001) groups. However, the differences between the two groups were not significant (p = 0.668). Based on the results obtained, it can be stated that the instrumentation of moderately and severely curved root canals with Neoniti rotary files increases the number of microcracks. However, the higher degree of curvature does not necessarily translate to a higher number of microcracks after root canal instrumentation with this specific rotary system and methodological procedures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to compare dentinal crack formation in root canal walls following 3 single file systems with continuous rotation under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). MATERIALS AND METHODS In this SEM study, seventy mandibular premolars were randomly divided into 5 groups. 3 experimental groups (n = 20) and 2 control groups (n = 5) as follows: Group I: Neolix NiTi file system, Group II: OneShape systems, Group III: OneCurve file system, positive control: conventional Hand File system, negative control: unprepared. After root canal preparations, the roots were sectioned at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apex with water irrigation. The sections were inspected in all directions under SEM at × 100 magnification to determine the presence of cracks. The Chi-square test was used to analyze the data. There is a statistically significant difference in the crack formation between the apical third (P = 0.012) and coronal third (P = 0.002) when comparing all the 5 groups. No significant difference is found in the middle third (P = 0.46). P < 0.05 is considered statistically significant. RESULTS Maximum cracks in the apical third were seen with One Shape file 11 (55%) and in the coronal third with Neolix NiTi 14 (70%). There is a statistically significant difference in the crack formation only in OneCurve when comparing the apical, middle, and coronal third for the individual group (P = 0.042). CONCLUSION There was a significant difference in crack formation in apical and coronal third. OneCurve caused the least incidence of cracks when compared to other file systems. OneCurve file system can be a choice for canal preparation over Neolix Niti and OneShape.

Abstract
Introduction This study evaluated the propagation of dentinal microcracks and the root canal volume increase after being prepared with two endodontic instruments: ProTaper Next (PTN) and WaveOne Gold (WOG) by micro-computed tomography analysis. Methods and Materials We selected 48 maxillary molars randomly distributed in two groups: PTN and WOG. The samples were scanned before and after instrumentation, and then the image analysis was performed to detect the propagation of pre-existing dentinal micro-cracks and calculate the pre- and post-instrumentation volume. The statistical analysis was performed using Student's t-test, Fisher's exact test, and ANCOVA (P<0.05). Results Dentinal microcracks were observed in 95.8% of the samples, both PTN and WOG instruments propagated microcracks after instrumentation, but there was no significant difference between the instruments (P=0.538). In relation to the root canal volume there was no statistic difference between PTN and WOG systems for the mesiobuccal (P=0.426) and distobuccal root canals (P=0.523). Conclusion We can conclude that both ProTaper Next and WOG systems propagate dentinal microcracks after root canal preparation in this in vitro study, without statistical significance. The root canal volume prepared also showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups. This in vitro study requires further studies for more concrete conclusions.

Abstract
Introduction The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of rotation speed on the instrumentation time of root canals with different curvatures using Mtwo NiTi rotary instruments. Methods and Materials Forty root canals were selected and divided into 2 groups, according to the angle of curvature (group A>30°, group B<30°). Both groups were divided into 2 subgroups (n=10), according to the rotational speed used for root canal instrumentation (150 rpm: group A1 and B1; 250 rpm: group A2 and B2). The total instrumentation time and the total number of instrumentation cycles (NCI) required to complete root canal preparation were registered for each canal. The mean and standard deviation were then calculated. Data were then statistically analyzed using two-way ANOVA and interaction effect P-values (P<0.05). Results During root canal instrumentation, there were no file fractures. Total instrumentation time of the low speed groups A1 (150 rpm) and B1 (150 rpm) were significantly higher (P<0.05) than that of the high speed groups, A2 (250 rpm) and B2 (250 rpm); however, there was no statistically significant difference in terms of NCI between the different groups (P>0.05). Statistical difference was not found between the different angles of curvature, group A1 vs B1 and A2 vs B2 in terms of total instrumentation time (P>0.05) and NCI (P>0.05). Conclusions This ex-vivo study showed that canal preparation with Mtwo rotary files could be completed safely with an increase of the instrumentation time at low rotational speed independently of the root canal curvature.

Abstract
The study aimed to compare the extent of dentinal microcracks in the radicular dentin using hand K files and various types of rotary nickel-titanium (NiTi) file systems. Forty mandibular incisor teeth (human) were grouped for the study. The root apices were closed, and the canals were straight (<5°). The samples were divided into four groups (n = 10). Group 1-Hand K file system (SybronEndo, SA), Group 2-XP-endo Shaper (FKG Dentaire, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland), Groups 3-Neoendoflex file (Neoendo, Orikam, India), and Group 4-Hero Shaper files (Micro-Mega, Becacon, France). Sectioning was done at 3, 6, and 9 mm from the apex, perpendicular to the long axis using a diamond disc under water coolant. The cut samples were then observed through a scanning electron microscope at ×50 enlargement. The control group showed no microcracks except one sample in the coronal third, which was less significant. The difference in the amount of crack detected on comparing the different groups was significant. In the experimental groups, XP-endo Shaper group showed significantly less number of cracks than the Neoendo flex, and Hero Shaper groups. Within the limitations of this study, all the system, except hand K files, produced remarkable dentinal microcracks. Least cracks were seen in canals instrumented with XP-endo Shaper. It can also be noted that single file system causes less number of microcracks.

Abstract
Statement of the Problem The complete removal of filling material is an important step to regain access to the entire canal and facilitate the disinfection of the root canal system. Rotary nickel-titanium (NiTi) instruments systems have been proposed as an effective removal technique for root canal retreatment. Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Neolix rotary system and ProTaper Universal retreatment system in the removal of gutta-percha combined with two different sealers. Materials and Method In vivo study, eighty extracted human permanent mandibular premolars were prepared using the ProTaper Universal rotary system to an apical size 30 (F3/0.06). The specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=20) and subsequently filled with lateral condensation of gutta-percha and two sealers: AH-26 and Sure-Seal Root. The teeth were stored for 4 weeks at 37°C and 100% humidity and then retreated by one of the following rotary systems: Neolix or ProTaper Universal retreatment system. Teeth were then grooved and monitored under a stereomicroscope with 8× magnification. The images were transferred to the computer and the amount of filling material that remained on the root canal walls was scored using AutoCAD 2017 version 1.1software. Results were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance test and post hoc Tukey-HSD test (p< 0.05). Results The mean percentage of remaining gutta-percha and sealer was significantly higher in apical third in all groups (p< 0.01). Post hoc Tukey test showed that there is significantly higher residual filling material in the group filled with gutta-percha and Sure-Seal Root sealer and retreated by Neoniti rotary system compared with other groups in both coronal and middle third of the canal. Conclusion The Neoniti rotary system was as effective as ProTaper Universal retreatment system in retreatment of gutta-percha and AH-26 sealer but was significantly less effective in groups obturated with Sure-Seal Root sealer.

Abstract
Introduction The aim of this study was to evaluate the canal transportation and centering ability of ProTaper Next (PTN), WaveOne Gold (WOG) and Reciproc Blue (RCB) in simulated curved resin canals. Methods and Materials A total of 43 blocks of simulated resin canals with 40° of curvature were prepared to an apical size of 0.02. Flexofile #15 instruments were used along the root canal to reach patency. The blocks were randomly assessed and sequence instruments were used according to each system: PTN, RCB and WOG. The imposition of pre and post instrumentation images were composited and analyzed. The canal transportation and apical centralization were measured using the software GIMP (2.8.4, Creative Commons - Share Alike 4.0 International License, 2013). Data were statistically analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, ANOVA test and Tukey's test. The level of significance was set at 0.05. Results There were no statistical differences in canal transportation between three systems. The general assessment of three systems presented the RCB group with higher values of centralization and more numbers of centralized points with significant differences between the PTN and RCB groups (P<0.05). Conclusion In this in vitro study, there were no statistical differences in canal transportation between the RCB, WOG and PTN systems. The lowest transportation was observed in the apical region at 3 mm performed with RCB system, followed by WOG and PTN systems. The RCB demonstrated higher values of centralization and more centralized points when assessed by regions.
