Abstract
BACKGROUND Cerebral palsy (CP) is one of the primary causes of physical disabilities in children that affects posture and movement. Upper-extremity (UE) function is frequently impaired, which may result in activity and participation limitations in people with CP. The use of kinesiotape (KT) has increased in the treatment of CP for various purposes. The aim of this systematic review was to assess the efficacy of KT for improving UE function in children and adolescents with CP. METHODS The literature search was carried out in PubMed, Cochrane, PEDro, Web of Science and SCOPUS databases. The methodological quality was analyzed with the PEDro scale. Review Manager (RevMan 5.4.1) was used for data extraction and risk of bias assessment. RESULTS A total of five randomized clinical trials were included. The use of KT showed improvement in UE functionality in three studies, with significant outcomes for range of motion (ROM) (three studies), fine motor skills (two studies), grip strength (one study) and manual dexterity (one study). Moreover, it also showed significant improvements in spasticity and gross motor function (one study). Overall, methodological quality was moderate, and the risk of bias was high in the domains related to blinding. CONCLUSION The use of KT showed improvement in UE function in children and adolescents with CP. However, further research is needed to reinforce the conclusions on the efficacy of KT as a therapeutic tool.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Impaired upper limb function in stroke survivors is characterized by muscle weakness, increased muscle tone, contracture, or impaired motor control. OBJECTIVE We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Kinesio-taping application for functional recovery on the affected arm and forearm during rehabilitation. METHODS Forty-one patients eligible for this study were randomly assigned to either the Kinesio-taping group (n = 21), receiving Kinesio-taping intervention and conventional therapy, or control group (n = 20), receiving sham Kinesio-taping intervention and conventional therapy. The whole intervention lasted for 3 weeks. Fugl-Meyer assessment of the upper extremity, Barthel Index, the Stroke Impact Scale, and modified Ashworth scale were measured at 3 time points: baseline, post-treatment (3rd week), and follow-up (6th week). RESULTS In the Kinesio-taping group, there were significant differences in the upper extremity (p = 0.003), wrist (p = 0.000) and hand (p = 0.000) parts of the Fugl-Meyer assessment of the upper extremity between the three assessment times. On the other hand, the Barthel Index showed significant differences in both groups after therapy. CONCLUSION Combining conventional rehabilitation with Kinesio-taping intervention may improve functional motor performance of both the proximal and distal parts of the affected upper extremity in stroke survivors, with potential benefits for activity of daily living.

Abstract
Among the high prevalence of cerebrovascular diseases nowadays, acute ischemic stroke stands out, representing a significant worldwide health issue with important socio-economic implications. Prompt diagnosis and intervention are important milestones for the management of this multifaceted pathology, making understanding the various stroke-onset symptoms crucial. A key role in acute ischemic stroke management is emphasizing the essential role of a multi-disciplinary team, therefore, increasing the efficiency of recognition and treatment. Neuroimaging and neuroradiology have evolved dramatically over the years, with multiple approaches that provide a higher understanding of the morphological aspects as well as timely recognition of cerebral artery occlusions for effective therapy planning. Regarding the treatment matter, the pharmacological approach, particularly fibrinolytic therapy, has its merits and challenges. Endovascular thrombectomy, a game-changer in stroke management, has witnessed significant advances, with technologies like stent retrievers and aspiration catheters playing pivotal roles. For select patients, combining pharmacological and endovascular strategies offers evidence-backed benefits. The aim of our comprehensive study on acute ischemic stroke is to efficiently compare the current therapies, recognize novel possibilities from the literature, and describe the state of the art in the interdisciplinary approach to acute ischemic stroke. As we aspire for holistic patient management, the emphasis is not just on medical intervention but also on physical therapy, mental health, and community engagement. The future holds promising innovations, with artificial intelligence poised to reshape stroke diagnostics and treatments. Bridging the gap between groundbreaking research and clinical practice remains a challenge, urging continuous collaboration and research.

Abstract
Constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) is a neurorehabilitation technique that aims to restore motor function in patients with central nervous system injuries. Based on behavioral research conducted, CIMT has been found effective in restoring motor function in various conditions including stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and more. The therapy combines neurological and behavioral mechanisms to induce neuroplastic changes and overcome learned nonuse. Modified CIMT (mCIMT) is a variant that focuses on sensorimotor functioning in the affected limb. This review summarizes studies on CIMT and mCIMT, with a focus on stroke, cerebral palsy, and other conditions. Results show that CIMT and mCIMT demonstrate significant improvements in motor function and quality of life. The studies underscore the importance of long-term research, comparative or combined therapies, and exploration of less-studied conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS) and brachial plexus injury. Overall, CIMT and mCIMT hold promise for neurorehabilitation, emphasizing the need for further investigation to enhance their effectiveness and application.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Spasticity is one of the most common complications and sequelae of stroke, with the main clinical manifestations being increased muscle tension, pain, stiffness, and other disorders. It not only increases the length of hospitalization and medical costs but also affects the quality of daily life and the stress of returning to society, increasing the burden on patients and their families. At present, 2 driver types of deep muscle stimulator (DMS) have been used in the clinical treatment of post-stroke spasticity (PSS) with good clinical results, but there is no evidence of clinical efficacy and safety. Therefore, this study aims to integrate direct and indirect comparative clinical evidence through a systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA). According to the data, different driver types for DMS with the same body of evidence will be collected, analyzed, and sequenced in a quantitative and comprehensive manner and then screened for the optimal driver type of DMS device for PSS treatment. The study also aims to provide reference value and an evidence-based theoretical basis for the clinical optimization of DMS equipment selection. METHODS A comprehensive retrieval of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese scientific journal database, China biological feature database, Wanfang Chinese databases and the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase foreign databases will be conducted. Randomized controlled trials of these 2 driver types of DMS devices combined with conventional rehabilitation training of PSS will be searched and published. The retrieval time is from the establishment of the database to December 20, 2022. The 2 first authors will screen references that meet the inclusion criteria, independently extract data according to predesigned rules, and assess the quality of the included studies and the risk of bias according to the Cochrane 5.1 Handbook criteria. R programming and Aggregate Data Drug Information System software will be used to perform a combined NMA of the data and to evaluate the probability of ranking for all interventions. RESULTS The NMA and probability ranking will determine the best driver type of DMS device for PSS. CONCLUSION This study will offer a comprehensive evidence-based approach to DMS therapy and assist doctors, PSS patients, and decision-makers in selecting a more efficient, secure, and cost-effective treatment option.

Abstract
Spasticity is one of the most common complications after stroke. With the gradual intensification of spasticity, stroke patients will have a series of problems such as joint ankylosis and movement restriction, which affect the daily activities and increase the burden on patients' families, medical staff and society. There are many ways to treat post-stroke spasticity before, including physical therapy and exercise therapy, drug therapy, surgery and so on, but not satisfied because of a few shortcomings. In recent years, many researchers have applied extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for the treatment of post-stroke spasm and achieved good clinical effect, because it is non-invasive, safe, easy to operate, low cost and other advantages compared with other treatment methods. This article reviews the research progress and existing problems of ESWT in the treatment of post-stroke spasticity.

Abstract
Objectives This study is aimed at exploring the feasibility of sonoelastography on muscle stiffness of spastic forearm and evaluating the improvement of functional performance in patients with poststroke spasticity (PSS) after receiving kinesiotaping (KT) and rehabilitation. Methods According to the spastic levels (using modified Ashworth scale (MAS)) of the affected upper extremity, 59 patients with stroke were allocated into two groups, group A (MAS 0-1): 31 patients (14 men and 17 women; mean age: 60 years) and group B (MAS 1+-2): 28 patients (22 men and 6 women; mean age: 51 years). The Brunnstrom motor recovery stage at the wrist/distal parts in groups A and B was stage 3/3.5 and stage 2.75/3. We evaluated the Brunnstrom stage, spastic levels by MAS and modified Tardieu scale (MTS), and Fugl-Meyer Assessment for upper extremity (FMA-UE). We also evaluated the muscle spasticity of flexor carpi radialis (FCR), flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU), and flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) muscles using sonoelastography with shear wave velocity (SWV). We applied KT for 20 patients in group B, comparing the changes in sonoelastography and functional outcomes between KT and without KT interventions. Results Both the MAS and MTS scales were moderately correlated with the SWV in forearm muscles on hemiplegic side (r = 0.336-0.554) After KT intervention, the SWV in FCR decreased (p = 0.028). Muscle spasticity was reduced (p < 0.01), and distal part of the Brunnstrom stage and FMA-UE were increased (p = 0.045 and p = 0.001). In patients without KT intervention, only the MTS degree reduced (p = 0.026). Conclusions The SWV of sonoelastography could objectively assess the reduction of muscle stiffness of the affected forearms in patients with PSS after KT intervention. Advances in Knowledge. Sonoelastography could be a quantitative method to follow up for therapeutic effect of the spastic forearm.

Abstract
Stroke is the world's second leading cause of death and the first cause of disability among all diseases. The most common complication of a stroke is a violation of the motor function of the limbs, which significantly worsens the quality of life and the level of self-care and independence of patients. Restoring the function of the upper limb is one of the priority tasks of rehabilitation after a stroke. A large number of factors, such as the location and size of the primary brain lesion, the presence of complications in the form of spasticity, impaired skin and proprioceptive sensitivity, and comorbidities, determine the patient's rehabilitation potential and the prognosis of ongoing rehabilitation measures. Of particular note are the timing of the start of rehabilitation measures, the duration and regularity of the treatment methods. A number of authors propose scales for assessing the rehabilitation prognosis, as well as algorithms for compiling rehabilitation programs for restoring the function of the upper limb. A fairly large number of rehabilitation methods and their combinations have been proposed, including special methods of kinesitherapy, robotic mechanotherapy with biofeedback, the use of physiotherapeutic factors, manual and reflex effects, as well as ready-made programs that include sequential and combined use of various methods. Dozens of studies have been devoted to comparative analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of these methods. The purpose of this work is to review current research on a given topic and draw up our own conclusion on the appropriateness of using and combining these methods at various stages of rehabilitation in stroke patients.
