Abstract
We report a case of extraventricular choroid plexus carcinoma (CPC) accompanied by spinal metastasis in a pediatric patient. A 15-year-old female patient presented with chronic progressive headache and blurry vision. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an intra-axial mass in the left frontal lobe. A gross total resection was performed, and the histopathological examination revealed the diagnosis of CPC, confirmed with immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis of GFAP, S100, EM, P53 and Ki67. Eleven months later, MRI result identified another mass in the left frontal lobe. Spinal MRI showed drop metastasis to the spine, accompanied by leptomeningeal seeding. This case demonstrated the importance of IHC and spinal MRI in the management of CPC. This case report may provide more insight into extraventricular CPC cases, which is important for the adequate management of patients with CPC in the future.

Abstract
Choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) are relatively uncommon tumors of the central nervous system, constituting approximately 5% of all pediatric brain tumors. Although squash cytology of CPT has been described in literature, shedding of tumor cells into cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has rarely been described. We report two such cases of atypical choroid plexus papilloma in a 5-month-old male child and a 12-year-old female child, where characteristic cytomorphology of CPT was noted in the CSF.

Abstract
Background: Choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) are rare neoplasms accounting for only 0.3–0.6% of all brain tumors in adults and 2–5% in children. The World Health Organization (WHO) classification describes three histological grades: grade I is choroid plexus papilloma (CPP), grade II is atypical papilloma, and grade III is the malignant form of carcinoma. In adults, CPTs rarely have a supratentorial localization. Case Description: Here we report a very rare case of an intraparenchymal parietal CPP with a rapid histological transition from grade I to grade III WHO in a 67-year-old man, in <7 months. Conclusion: Because of the rarity of these oncotypes, descriptions of each new case are useful, mostly to consider this diagnostic entity in extraventricular brain tumors of adults, despite an unusual location.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Extraventricular intraparenchymal choroid plexus tumors (CPTs) in the cerebral hemisphere are extremely rare. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics, radiologic findings, and surgical outcomes of this atypical type of CPT. METHODS The study comprised 6 patients with pathologically proven extraventricular intraparenchymal CPTs who were surgically treated at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. The PubMed database was searched for similar cases published before January 2015, and these cases were reviewed. RESULTS Patients were 5 (83.3%) men and 1 (16.7%) woman with an average age of 46.5 years. Symptoms and signs of CPT were usually associated with increased intracranial pressure and invasion of functional areas by tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging commonly demonstrated a contrast-enhancing intraparenchymal mass with cysts; hydrocephalus was not observed in any cases. Subtotal resection and gross total resection were achieved in 1 (16.7%) and 5 (83.3%) cases, respectively. There were 3 cases (50.0%) of choroid plexus papilloma, 2 cases (33.3%) of atypical choroid plexus papilloma, and 1 case (16.7%) not otherwise specified. There was a low incidence of postoperative complications, and surgical outcomes of CPTs were satisfactory. CONCLUSIONS In contrast to typical lesions, extraventricular intraparenchymal CPTs in the cerebral hemisphere are rarely associated with hydrocephalus. Magnetic resonance imaging features are key in preoperative diagnosis; nevertheless, it is difficult to distinguish this atypical type of CPT from other lesions. Surgical removal of the tumor is safe and efficacious.

Abstract
Choroid plexus carcinoma (CPC) is a World Health Organization (WHO) grade III brain tumor with a poor prognosis that occurs mainly in children. Gross total resection of CPC is highly recommended and is associated with improved overall survival, although it is often associated with increased morbidity. The use of adjuvant therapies has yet to be standardized, although evidence suggests that for patients with incompletely resected CPCs, a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be beneficial. The use of radiation therapy for younger children (<3 years old) with CPC, however, is not recommended, due to the potential negative neurological sequelae associated with radiation to the developing brain. Given that the majority of CPC patients are young children, questions regarding optimal radiation dose, chemotherapy agents, and how to combine these two adjuvant treatment modalities to achieve the best outcomes remain unanswered. In this paper we summarize the current management of CPC in the literature. Further studies are needed to standardize the treatment paradigm for this malignant brain tumor.

Abstract
Papillary carcinoma of choroids plexus is very rare. Only a few cases have been described in the literature, and it is most commonly found in the pediatric population. A further observation is added now. A 20-year-old lady presented with complaints of headache and vomiting from past one and half months, headache was increasing in severity and there was relief after vomiting. On examination, no abnormality was detected in any of her systems. The patient underwent computed tomography scan of brain, which showed space occupying lesion in the right frontal lobe. She underwent near total excision of the lesion. Postoperative period was uneventful. Histopathology was suggestive of papillary carcinoma of choroids plexus and was confirmed with immunohistochemistry. The patient received whole brain radiation and intrathecal chemotherapy. The patient tolerated the treatment well, except for grade two vomiting. She has completed one and half years of follow-up and is disease free.

OBJECTIVE
Choroid plexus carcinoma (CPCa) is an uncommon tumor rarely occurring in patients older than 2 years of age. The case reported herein represents the first documented example of a primary supratentorial, extraventricular CPCa in an adult. The scant literature regarding this topic is reviewed.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION
A 68-year-old woman presented with transient expressive aphasia. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated an avidly enhancing, left temporal, extra-axial mass with associated parenchymal cysts.
INTERVENTION
The tumor was gross-totally removed via a frontotemporal craniotomy. A diagnosis of CPCa was made on histological, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural grounds. Postoperatively, the patient was treated by local radiotherapy and temozolomide. A magnetic resonance imaging scan 44 months after surgery showed no evidence of residual or recurrent tumor.
CONCLUSION
CPCa infrequently affects adults. Only rarely does it present as a supratentorial, extraventricular mass. Resection is the mainstay of therapy. Adjuvant radiation and chemotherapy are rational treatment options.

Abstract
The authors present the case of a rare extraventricular, intraparenchymal choroid plexus carcinoma (CPC). This 6-year-old girl presented to the emergency department with a 1-week history of headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Imaging studies revealed an intraaxial cystic and solid mass located in the right frontal lobe with central nodular enhancement and minimally enhancing cyst walls. Gross-total resection was accomplished via craniotomy without complications. The initial pathological diagnosis was atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT); however, immunostaining for INI1 protein (using the BAF47/SNF5 antibody) showed retention of nuclear staining in the tumor cells, resulting in a change in the diagnosis to CPC. There was no evidence of recurrence at the last follow-up 2.5 years after treatment, which supports the diagnosis of CPC over AT/RT. This case emphasizes the importance of immunostaining for INI1 protein for distinguishing CPC from AT/RT in cases with atypical or indeterminate features.

Abstract
Choroid plexus carcinoma is an uncommon neoplasm of the central nervous system most commonly found in the pediatric population. It is associated with a dismal prognosis, especially if incompletely resected. Accurate histopathologic diagnosis is imperative, and this neoplasm should always be included in the differential diagnosis of a papillary intraventricular tumor. Histopathologic features include blurring of papillary architecture, layers of neoplastic choroid plexus epithelial cells with pleomorphic nuclei, increased nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio, increased mitotic activity, areas of necrosis, and brain invasion. Current accepted treatment is gross total surgical resection of the tumor as the goal. Use of adjuvant chemotherapy is controversial at this time; however, it is considered in some cases.
