Abstract
BACKGROUND Collision tumor are neoplasms, including two histologically distinct tumors that coexist in the same mass without histological admixture. The incidence of collision tumor is low and is rare clinically.
AIM To investigate ultrasound images and application of ovarian-adnexal reporting and data system (O-RADS) to evaluate the risk and pathological characteristics of ovarian collision tumor.
METHODS This study retrospectively analyzed 17 cases of ovarian collision tumor diagnosed pathologically from January 2020 to December 2023. All clinical features, ultrasound images and histopathological features were collected and analyzed. The O-RADS score was used for classification. The O-RADS score was determined by two senior doctors in the gynecological ultrasound group. Lesions with O-RADS score of 1-3 were classified as benign tumors, and lesions with O-RADS score of 4 or 5 were classified as malignant tumors.
RESULTS There were 17 collision tumors detected in 16 of 6274 patients who underwent gynecological surgery. The average age of 17 women with ovarian collision tumor was 36.7 years (range 20-68 years), in whom, one occurred bilaterally and the rest occurred unilaterally. The average tumor diameter was 10 cm, of which three were 2-5 cm, 11 were 5-10 cm, and three were > 10 cm. Five (29.4%) tumors with O-RADS score 3 were endometriotic cysts with fibroma/serous cystadenoma, and unilocular or multilocular cysts contained a small number of parenchymal components. Eleven (64.7%) tumors had an O-RADS score of 4, including two in category 4A, six in category 4B, and three in category 4C; all of which were multilocular cystic tumors with solid components or multiple papillary components. One (5.9%) tumor had an O-RADS score of 5. This case was a solid mass, and a small amount of pelvic effusion was detected under ultrasound. The pathology was high-grade serous cystic cancer combined with cystic mature teratoma. There were nine (52.9%) tumors with elevated serum carbohydrate antigen (CA)125 and two (11.8%) with elevated serum CA19-9. Histological and pathological results showed that epithelial-cell-derived tumors combined with other tumors were the most common, which was different from previous results.
CONCLUSION The ultrasound images of ovarian collision tumor have certain specificity, but diagnosis by preoperative ultrasound is difficult. The combination of epithelial and mesenchymal cell tumors is one of the most common types of ovarian collision tumor. The O-RADS score of ovarian collision tumor is mostly ≥ 4, which can sensitively detect malignant tumors.

Abstract
Background Intracranial cavernous malformations (CMs), commonly known as cavernomas or cavernous angiomas, are low-flow, well-circumscribed vascular lesions composed of sinusoidal spaces lined by a single layer of endothelium and separated by a collagenous matrix without elastin, smooth muscle, or other vascular wall elements. A diameter greater than 3 cm for a CM is unlikely. These lesions may have atypical appearances on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI with advanced techniques such as a susceptibility-weighted image or T2-gradient echo, a diffusion-weighted image and corresponding apparent diffusion coefficient map, and diffusion tensor tractography have revolutionized the diagnostic approach to these lesions. Materials and Method The present study reviews the etiopathogenesis, clinical manifestations, MRI strategy, and MRI appearances of the CMs, with a few examples of the giant CMs from our archive. Results Intracranial giant CMs may have unexpected locations, sizes, numbers, and varied imaging appearances due to repeated hemorrhages, unusual enhancement patterns, intense perifocal edema, and unusual associations, making the differential diagnosis difficult. Conclusion Familiarity with the MRI appearances of the giant intracranial CMs and the differential diagnosis improves diagnostic accuracy and patient management.

Abstract
Cavernous angiomas (CAs) are benign vascular malformations predominantly seen in the brain parenchyma and therefore referred to as intra-axial. Extra-axial dural-based cavernous angiomas, on the other hand, are rare vascular lesions found outside of the brain parenchyma. They occur in the middle fossa and may be easily misdiagnosed as meningiomas due to their extra-axial location. In addition, CAs that are located outside the middle fossa, such as in the convexity, have a better prognosis since they are more surgically accessible. Surgical resection is the main treatment of choice in CAs. However, other options, such as embolization and radiotherapy, may also be considered therapeutic choices or additive treatment options. The pathogenesis of CA and the involvement of other factors (genetics or environmental factors) are still unknown and require further investigation. We are presenting a young man who presented for evaluation of seizure-like events without any family history of neurologic conditions. The physical examination was unremarkable except for a slightly antalgic gait. Imaging studies showed an extra-axial left tentorial mass suggestive of a meningioma, hemangiopericytoma, or other extra-axial lesions. The lesion was resected where its vascular nature was mentioned initially, and the histology proved the diagnosis of cavernous angioma. Here we give an overview of the known pathogenesis, causes, clinical features, and diagnostic and therapeutic options in CA. Better knowledge about CA, its causes, clinical features, and treatment options would help clinicians in early diagnosis and patient management.

Abstract
A collision tumor is a rare entity, particularly if occurring in the lung. We report a case of a 57-year-old woman with a primary pulmonary collision tumor comprising mixed squamous cell and glandular papilloma (MSGP) and glomus tumor (GT). An abnormal mass was discovered in the right lung by computed tomography (CT) of the chest. A right lower lobectomy with mediastinal lymph node dissection was performed. Histological examination of the surgical specimen suggested that the lung cancer was composed of two neoplastic components. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of a primary pulmonary collision tumor comprising two benign tumors of different origins, which were MSGP and GT.

Abstract
Introduction
Collision tumors present as histologically different juxtaposed neoplasms within the same anatomical region, independent of the adjacent cell population. De novo intracranial collision tumors involving metachronous primary brain neoplasms alongside dural meningiomatosis are not well documented in the literature.
Clinical Presentation
We present staged surgical management of a 72-year-old female with known left hemispheric stable dural-based convexity mass lesions over 10 years and new-onset expressive aphasia and headaches. MRI had revealed left supratentorial dural-based enhanced masses consistent with en plaque meningiomatosis. Embolization angiography showed an unusual tumor blush from an aberrant branch of anterior cerebral artery suggesting a deeper focal intra-axial nature; a stage 1 craniotomy for dural-based tumor resection was completed with diagnosis of a meningioma (WHO grade 1). Intraoperatively, a distinct intra-axial deep discrete lesion was verified stereotactically, concordant with the location of tumor blush. The patient made a complete neurological recovery from a transient postoperative supplemental motor area syndrome in a week. Subsequent postoperative follow-up showed worsening of right hemiparesis and MRI showed an increase in residual lesion size and perilesional edema, which prompted a stage 2 radical resection of a glioblastoma, WHO grade 4. She improved neurologically after surgery with steroids and physical therapy. At 15 months following adjuvant therapy, she remains neurologically intact throughout the postoperative course, with no recurrent tumor on MRI.
Conclusion
A de novo glioblastoma presented as a masquerading lesion within hemispheric convexity meningiomatosis in an elderly patient with no prior radiation/phakomatosis, inciting a non-causal juxtapositional coexistence. The authors highlight rare pathognomonic angiographic findings and the rationale for two-staged resections of these collision lesions that led to excellent clinicoradiological outcome.

Abstract
An intracranial collision tumor is a rare lesion composed of two histologically different neoplasms in the same anatomic location. Even more rare is the collision tumor of a solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) and meningioma. The patient was a 46-year-old woman who had a 40 × 35 × 30-mm mass in the vermis of the cerebellum. Histologically, the mass consisted of two different components. One component showed the morphology of meningioma (World Health Organization (WHO) grade I), and the other component exhibited small round cell proliferation with hypercellular density, which was revealed to be SFT/HPC (WHO grade III) based on STAT6 immunohistochemistry. STAT6 showed completely different immunohistochemistry results in these two components (nuclear-negative in meningioma and nuclear-positive in SFT/HPC). Since these two neoplasms are associated with different prognoses, they should be distinguished from each other. When meningioma and an SFT/HPC-like lesion are identified morphologically, it is important to recognize the presence of such a collision tumor composed of meningioma and SFT/HPC, and identify the SFT/HPC component by employing STAT6 immunohistochemistry.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A collision tumor is a rare entity consisting of 2 histologically distinct tumor types (benign or malignant) in the same anatomic location. This can occur from a tumor-to-tumor metastasis or as a result of 2 adjacent intracranial tumors colliding and growing together. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of collision tumor with confirmed meningioma and uterine adenocarcinoma. Multiple mechanisms have been proposed for the facilitative growth of collision tumors, including local epigenetic signaling. Clinically, it is important to consider collision tumors in the differential diagnosis of a rapidly growing intracranial lesion in the setting of systemic cancer to provide optimal surgical and postoperative management. CASE DESCRIPTION A 78-year-old, right-handed woman with a known 10-year history of stable meningioma presented for evaluation of a right sphenoid wing lesion. She had recently completed treatment of uterine papillary serous carcinoma with no evidence of disease on follow-up imaging. On presentation, there was significant progression of the meningioma resulting in brain compression and right third nerve palsy. The patient underwent urgent resection of the lesion. Pathology demonstrated a collision tumor with a combination of metastatic uterine papillary serous carcinoma and meningioma. CONCLUSIONS It is important to consider a collision tumor when a patient with a benign intracranial lesion presents with rapid progression, even in the context of a systemic cancer that rarely metastasizes to the brain. Appropriate histopathologic assessment is crucial in these cases and can have a significant impact on treatment plan and prognosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Intracranial meningioma with concomitant cavernous malformation has been rarely described in the literature. This study aimed to investigate the correct neurosurgical conduct. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrieved clinical and radiological data for 39 outpatients or patients that underwent surgery (mean age: 60 years; n = 25 females) for a single or multiple meningiomas and concomitant single or multiple cavernous malformations. Cavernous malformations were classified according to Zabramski's type scale. Our results were compared to results published in the literature. RESULTS All patients had at least one meningioma and at least one concomitant cavernous malformation. Most meningiomas and cavernous malformations were located in the supratentorial region. Nine patients (23 %) had multiple meningiomas and nine had concomitant multiple cavernous malformations. Cavernous malformations were classified as type I (n = 0), type II (n = 9), type III (n = 11), or type IV (n = 19). The surgical priority was meningioma removal. A single patient underwent simultaneous removal of a meningioma and a contiguous cavernous malformation. In the postoperative period and long term follow-up, no complications occurred related to cavernous malformations, intra- or extra-lesional bleeding, or morphology/size changes. Years after surgical treatment, a new type IV cavernous malformation occurred in two patients. CONCLUSION Our findings corroborate that meningioma removal should take priority in patients with intracranial meningioma and concomitant cavernous malformation. Concomitant cavernous malformations showed no change in morphology or size; therefore, they should merely be observed during follow-up. In patients that harbor a single meningioma, a type IV cavernous malformation should preferably be considered a concomitant cerebral microbleed.

Abstract
Intracranial collision tumors have rarely been reported in the literature and generally include at least 1 malignant tumor component. Subependymoma with dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNET) is an as-yet unreported combination. Both components are uncommon tumors, and presentation in the foramen of Monro is even more unusual. A 16-year-old male patient with a past medical history significant for asthma presented with a 3-month history of headaches and radiographic evidence of mild obstructive hydrocephalus secondary to a nonenhancing ventricular lesion at the foramen of Monro. He underwent endoscopic biopsy and resection. Pathological analysis revealed distinct components of subependymoma and DNET. At the 1-year follow-up, the patient was doing well without regrowth of tumor. The authors describe a case of intracranial collision tumor demonstrating 2 grade I components: a novel combination of subependymoma and DNET.

Abstract

To our knowledge, meningioma colliding with extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma has not been described previously. CASE DESCRIPTION A 50-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of progressive memory decline and 2 weeks of drowsiness, bradykinesia, and aphasia. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a heterogeneously enhanced mass beside the left frontal cerebral falx resulting in midline shift. The left frontal lobe mass was resected. Pathologic examination showed the tumor consisted of whorled spindle cells and diffuse medium-sized lymphoid cells. The spindle cells were positive for epithelial membrane antigen and negative for S-100. The lymphoid cells expressed CD3ε, CD56, TIA-1, and granzyme B. Epstein-Barr virus encoded small RNAs were detected by in situ hybridization. No monoclonal T-cell receptor gamma gene rearrangement was detected. Four weeks after surgery, the patient was treated with polychemotherapy and intrathecal methotrexate, but he died 2 months later. CONCLUSIONS This is the first report of a unique brain collision tumor consisting of a meningioma and an extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma. Diagnosis depends on histopathology. Awareness of this entity is important to distinguish it from other intracranial tumors.

Abstract
Background Collision tumor is a very rare case of cerebral lesion. Approximately 50 reports of intracranial collision tumors were described in the literature. We present a case of supratentorial dural-based convexity collision tumor radiologically mimicking cavernous malformation and composed of cavernous malformation and meningioma. Case presentation The case presents a 63-year-old female having MR findings such as hemorraged supratentorial dural-based mass with “popcorn” signs and hemosiderin deposits. The patient underwent craniotomy and evacuation of the subdural hematoma with resection of the tumor mass. Histologically the lesion had signs of a cavernoma and meningioma. MRI in a year after surgery did not reveale residual tumor mass or recurrence. Conclusions Collision tumor is a very rare case. Preoperative diagnosis of a dural lesion is difficult and challenging. A neuroradiological differential diagnosis of similar cases needs focused attention.
