Abstract
BACKGROUND Standard approaches to the treatment of chronic post-radiation proctitis are associated with a high risk of complications and a high percentage of unsatisfactory results due to the reduced regenerative potential of irradiated tissues. Regenerative surgery techniques using the stromal-vascular cell fraction (SVF) based on the patient's autologous adipose tissue are a promising direction for study. CLINICAL CASE DESCRIPTION A 76-year-old patient suffering from chronic post-radiation erosive-ulcerative proctitis, grade 4 according to RTOG-EORTC, complicated by recurrent profuse rectal bleeding, underwent local autotransplantation of SVF into the submucosal layer of the rectum and pararectal connective tissue. The follow-up colonoscopies 1 and 6 months after the surgery and histological examination showed the complete epithelialization of ulcerative defects and a decrease in proctitis activity. There were no bleeding episodes during the 12-month postoperative observation period. CONCLUSION The proangiogenic, wound-healing, and anti-apoptotic effects of the SVF cell suspension provided reduction of inflammation activity, epithelialization of ulcers, and elimination of defecation-associated hemorrhage, following the SVF injection into the submucosal layer of the rectal wall and pararectal connective tissue in a patient with post-radiation proctitis with ulcers and recurrent bleeding.

Abstract
Radiation-induced intestinal injury (RIII) is one of the most common intestinal complications caused by radiotherapy for pelvic and abdominal tumors and it seriously affects the quality of life of patients. However, the treatment of acute RIII is essentially symptomatic and nutritional support treatment and an ideal means of prevention and treatment is lacking. Researchers have conducted studies at the cellular and animal levels and found that some chemical or biological agents have good therapeutic effects on RIII and may be used as potential candidates for clinical treatment. This article reviews the injury mechanism and potential treatment strategies based on cellular and animal experiments to provide new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of RIII in clinical settings.

Abstract
PURPOSE Enterocutaneous fistula (ECF) is a condition in which there is an abnormal connection between the intestinal tract and the skin. It can lead to high morbidity and mortality rates despite the availability of therapeutic options. Stem cells have emerged as a potential strategy to treat ECF. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ASC) on ECF in an experimental model. METHODS ECF was induced in 21 Wistar rats, and after one month, they were divided into three groups: control group (C), culture medium without ASC group (CM), and allogeneic ASC group (ASC). After 30 days, the animals underwent macroscopic analysis of ECF diameter and histopathological analysis of inflammatory cells, tissue fibrosis, and vascular density. RESULTS The study found a 55% decrease in the ECF diameter in the ASC group (4.5 ± 1.4 mm) compared to the control group (10.0 ± 2.1 mm, p = 0.001) and a 59.1% decrease in the CM group (11.0 ± 4.3 mm, p = 0.003). The fibrosis score in the ASC group was 20.9% lower than the control group (p = 0.03). There were no significant differences in inflammation scores among the three groups. CONCLUSIONS This study suggests that ASC treatment can reduce ECF diameter, and reduction in tissue fibrosis may be a related mechanism. Further studies are needed to understand the underlying mechanisms fully.
