Bibliometric analysis of the inflammation in diabetic cardiomyopathy

Preclinical evidence and possible mechanisms of cardioprotective effects of resveratrol in diabetic cardiomyopathy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

INTRODUCTION

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a significant complication of diabetes, characterized primarily by the development of heart failure in individuals with diabetes. Numerous animal studies have indicated that resveratrol enhances cardiac function in diabetic cardiomyopathy; however, its reliability and underlying mechanism remain unclear. This study aims to assess the cardioprotective effects of resveratrol on DCM and explore its potential mechanism.

METHODS

We searched PubMed, EMBASE, WOS, Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBM, Chinese VIP, and Wan Fang Database until March 31st, 2024, without language restrictions. Continuous outcome measures were analyzed using weighted mean difference or standardized mean difference, and heterogeneity was assessed with I2. The risk of bias in animal experiments was evaluated using the SYRCLE tool, and evidence reliability was determined with the GRADE tool. All data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.4.1 and Stata 17. This study has been registered on the PROSPERO (CRD42024523944).

RESULTS

A total of 18 studies meeting the criteria were identified. The analysis revealed that the resveratrol intervention group exhibited significant improvements in LVEF (WMD = 17.88), LVFS (WMD = 8.77), HW/BW (SMD=-2.92), SOD (SMD = 4.53), and MDA (SMD=-5.07) compared to the control group. The GRADE grading assessment indicated moderate certainty for LVEF, HW/BW, and MDA, while certainty for other factors was considered low.

CONCLUSION

Our research suggests that resveratrol may protect cardiac function in DCM through anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative stress effects. However, these findings are based on preclinical data, and further extensive trials are needed to confirm their effectiveness and safety before clinical application.

The mechanism of TGF-β mediating BRD4/STAT3 signaling pathway to promote fibroblast proliferation and thus promote keloid progression

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of TGF-β on keloid and its molecular mechanism in fibroblasts.

METHODS

The difference between normal tissue and keloid tissue can be detected using HE staining. Fibroblasts were treated with TGF-β, and then treated with the BRD4 inhibitor JQ1 and the STAT3 activator Colivelin TFA. Western blot was used to measure the relative protein expression of TGF-β, BRD4, p-STAT3, p-EZH2, C-myc, KLF2, KLF4, α-SMA, and Collagen-I. Immunofluorescence staining was used to measure the relative fluorescence intensity of BRD4, p-STAT3, α-SMA, and Collagen-I. Cell proliferation ability was evaluated by CCK-8 assay and colony formation assay.

RESULTS

The expression of TGF-β and BRD4 was significantly higher in keloid tissue compared to normal tissue. TGF-β mediated the BRD4/STAT3 signaling pathway to inhibit p-EZH2 and promote the expression of C-myc, KLF2, KLF4, α-SMA, and Collagen-I. Additionally, TGF-β mediated the BRD4/STAT3 signaling pathway to enhance fibroblast proliferation.

CONCLUSION

TGF-β mediates the BRD4/STAT3 signaling pathway to promote fibroblast proliferation and contribute to the progression of keloid.

Liver cancer from the perspective of single-cell sequencing: a review combined with bibliometric analysis

BACKGROUND

Liver cancer (LC) is a prevalent malignancy and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Extensive research has been conducted to enhance patient outcomes and develop effective prevention strategies, ranging from molecular mechanisms to clinical interventions. Single-cell sequencing, as a novel bioanalysis technology, has significantly contributed to the understanding of the global cognition and dynamic changes in liver cancer. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis in this specific research area. Therefore, the objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots in the field of single-cell sequencing in liver cancer research through the use of bibliometrics.

METHOD

Publications related to the application of single-cell sequencing technology to liver cancer research as of December 31, 2023, were searched on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and R package "bibliometrix" were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis.

RESULTS

A total of 331 publications from 34 countries, primarily led by China and the United States, were included in this study. The research focuses on the application of single cell sequencing technology to liver cancer, and the number of related publications has been increasing year by year. The main research institutions involved in this field are Fudan University, Sun Yat-Sen University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Frontiers in Immunology and Nature Communications is the most popular journal in this field, while Cell is the most frequently co-cited journal. These publications are authored by 2799 individuals, with Fan Jia and Zhou Jian having the most published papers, and Llovet Jm being the most frequently co-cited author. The use of single cell sequencing to explore the immune microenvironment of liver cancer, as well as its implications in immunotherapy and chemotherapy, remains the central focus of this field. The emerging research hotspots are characterized by keywords such as 'Gene-Expression', 'Prognosis', 'Tumor Heterogeneity', 'Immunoregulation', and 'Tumor Immune Microenvironment'.

CONCLUSION

This is the first bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments on the application of single cell sequencing in liver cancer. The study identifies recent research frontiers and hot directions, providing a valuable reference for researchers exploring the landscape of liver cancer, understanding the composition of the immune microenvironment, and utilizing single-cell sequencing technology to guide and enhance the prognosis of liver cancer patients.

Bibliometrics and visual analysis of metformin and gut microbiota from 2012 to 2022: A systematic review

BACKGROUND

Metformin is an old drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and can play a variety of roles by regulating the gut microbiota. The number of research articles on metformin in the gut microbiota has increased annually; however, no bibliometric tools have been used to analyze the research status and hot trends in this field. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of publications on metformin and gut microbiota.

METHODS

We searched the Web of Science core collection database on June 8, 2023, for papers related to metformin and gut microbiota from 2012 to 2022. We used Microsoft Excel 2021, VOSviewer1.6.19, CiteSpace 6.2.4, and R software package "bibliometrix" 4.0.0 to analyze the countries, institutions, authors, journals, citations, and keywords of the included publications.

RESULTS

We included 517 papers, and the trend in publications increased over the last 11 years. The 517 articles were from 57 countries, including 991 institutions and 3316 authors, and were published in 259 journals. China led all countries (233 papers) and the most influential institution was the Chinese Academy of Sciences (16 papers). PLOS ONE (19 papers) was the most popular journal, and Nature (1598 citations) was the most cited journal. Li and Kim were the 2 most published authors (six papers each), and Cani (272 co-citations) was the most co-cited author. "Metabolites," "aging," and "intestinal barrier" were emerging topics in this field.

CONCLUSIONS

This bibliometric study comprehensively summarizes the research trends and progress of metformin and gut microbiota, and provides new research topics and trends for studying the effects of metformin on gut microbiota in different diseases.
