Abstract
Background Osteoporosis is characterized by diminished bone density and quality, compromised bone microstructure, and increased bone fragility, culminating in a heightened risk of fracture. Relatively few attempts have been made to survey the breadth of osteoporosis research using bibliometric approaches. This study aims to delineate the current landscape of osteoporosis research, offering clarity and visualization, while also identifying potential future directions for investigation. Methods We retrieved and filtered articles and reviews pertaining to osteoporosis from the Web of Science Core Collection database, specifically the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) edition, spanning the years 2014 to 2023. Informatics tools such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer were employed to dissect the intellectual framework, discern trends, and pinpoint focal points of interest within osteoporosis research. Results Our dataset comprised 33,928 osteoporosis-related publications, with a notable surge in annual publication numbers throughout the last decade. China and the United States lead in terms of research output. The University of California System contributed substantially to this body of work, with Amgen demonstrating the highest degree of centrality within the network. Cooper Cyrus emerged as a pivotal figure in the field. An analysis of highly-cited studies, co-citation networks, and keyword co-occurrence revealed that recent years have predominantly concentrated on elucidating mechanisms underlying osteoporosis, as well as its diagnosis, prevention, and treatment strategies. Burst detection analyses of citations and keywords highlighted osteoblasts, sarcopenia, gut microbiota, and denosumab as contemporary hotspots within osteoporosis research. Conclusion This bibliometric analysis has provided a visual representation of the fundamental knowledge structure, prevailing trends, and key focal areas within osteoporosis research. The identification of osteoblasts, sarcopenia, gut microbiota, and denosumab as current hotspots may guide future research endeavors. Continued efforts directed at understanding the mechanisms, fracture outcomes, diagnostics, and therapeutics related to osteoporosis are anticipated to deepen our comprehension of this complex disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify major contributors, current research status, and to forecast research trends and future development prospects on acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for herpes zoster (HZ) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). METHODS A systematic search was conducted on the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Weipu, WanFang databases, and the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), PubMed, and Scopus databases. The search strategy included relevant terms for HZ, PHN, acupuncture, and moxibustion. The reference type was limited to articles or reviews, with a publication date from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2023. Data analysis was performed using CiteSpace software, focusing on author, institution, source, and keyword distributions, and temporal trends. RESULTS A total of 1612 publications were identified from both Chinese and English databases. The analysis revealed a rising trend in publication numbers in the English database, with a significant increase observed in 2020. In the Chinese database, publication activity exhibited two peaks in 2019 and 2023. Guohua Lin and Jingchun Zeng were the most prolific authors in the Chinese and English databases, respectively. The Chengdu University of TCM and Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University were the most active institutions. The keyword analysis revealed "herpes zoster" as the most frequent keyword in the Chinese database, while "postherpetic neuralgia," "acupuncture," and "management" were prominent in the English database. The study also identified several therapeutic approaches, including fire needle therapy and electroacupuncture, which have shown efficacy in treating HZ and PHN. Animal studies provided insights into the mechanisms of these therapies, suggesting potential modulation of neuroinflammatory markers and intracellular signaling pathways. CONCLUSION The bibliometric analysis underscores the growing interest in acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for HZ and PHN. It highlights the contributions of key authors and institutions while pinpointing potential areas for future research. The study advocates for the necessity of large-scale, multi-center clinical trials and further basic mechanical research to optimize these therapies. Moreover, it also emphasizes the importance of international collaboration to strengthen the evidence base and expand the global impact of this traditional treatment modality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to systematically evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of acupoint herbal patching in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia. METHODS Eight databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan-Fang Database, China Biomedical Literature Service System, and Chongqing VIP Chinese Science were searched. The search time was set to October 2023. Two researchers independently screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria; extracted the basic information, acupoints, Chinese herbal medicine, pain score, sleep score, depression score, and other information of the subjects, and independently assessed the risk of bias by 2 researchers. Meta-analysis of the included studies was performed using the StataMP 16 software. RESULTS Fifteen studies with 1362 participants were included in this meta-analysis. Ashi is the acupoint frequency at the forefront, and Borneol is the Chinese herbal medicine frequency at the forefront. The acupoint herbal patching group showed significant improvements in visual analog score (SMD: -2.09; 95% Cl: -2.77, -1.42; P < .001), sleep score (SMD: -1.58; 95% Cl: -2.11, -1.05; P < .001), depression score (SMD: -1.61; 95% Cl: -2.22, -0.99; P < .001), Chinese medicine syndrome score (SMD: -2.32; 95% Cl: -2.84, -1.80; P = .06), dermatology life quality index (weighted mean differences: -4.11; 95% Cl: -4.58, -3.63; P = .98), and related laboratory indicators compared to the control group, and the total effective rate was significantly higher (relative risk: 1.20; 95% confidence interval: 1.15, 1.26; P = .99) than the control group. Two studies reported adverse reactions, but the 2 groups were not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS Acupoint herbal patching intervention in postherpetic neuralgia is effective in improving the pain, sleep, anxiety, depression, quality of life of patients, and related laboratory indicators.

Abstract
Objective Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a debilitating condition that has garnered considerable attention from pain physicians due to its association with the or Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV). In this study, we aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis to quantitatively assess the research outcomes related to PHN and VZV over the past two decades (2003-2022). Methods We conducted a bibliometric analysis by querying the Web of Science database for articles related to PHN published from 2003 to 2022. In this analysis, we collected relevant information from the database including the number of publications, publication year, source, country, institution, and citation data. Results A total of 1073 publications were extracted from the database, with 387 articles (36.1%) being authored by individuals from the United States, making it the leading country in terms of article publications. The top ten institutions that made significant contributions to research on PHN and VZV were primarily concentrated within the United States. Notably, the New England Journal of Medicine and Pain claimed the two highest positions in terms of citation count, with 2482 and 1591 citations, respectively. The topics covered in these articles mainly revolved around "Postherpetic Neuralgia", "Herpes Zoster", "Epidemiology", "Vaccine", and "Quality-of-life". Conclusion Over the past two decades, there has been a gradual increase in publications on PHN and VZV, demonstrating significant advancements in academic achievements. Vaccines have proven effective in reducing PHN incidence among the elderly, but there is a lack of research on interventional treatments and underlying mechanisms. To elevate evidence-based medicine, researchers should conduct more controlled clinical trials. Additionally, leveraging pathogenesis research findings can lead to the development of better pain relief medications.

Abstract
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) represents a notable clinical challenge as it is the most prevalent and severe complication of herpes zoster (HZ). The primary objective was to investigate the current research status and hotspots of PHN research during the period from 2000 to 2022. The literature pertaining to PHN was gathered through the utilization of the Web of Science Core Collection, spanning from January 2000 to December 2022. The software, CiteSpace version 6.2.R2, was employed to produce visual depictions of publications related to PHN across various dimensions such as year, country/region, institution, journal, author, keyword, and reference. This study involved a total of 3505 papers. The USA held a dominant position in the production of scholarly articles. Argentina exhibited the highest frequency of participation in international collaboration. Out of all the institutions, Pfizer exhibited the highest degree of productivity. Harvard University exhibited the highest frequency of participation in international collaboration. The Pain exhibited the most noteworthy productivity rate and citation count among all other journals. Ralf Baron was identified as the most productive author, whereas DWORKIN RH attained the highest citation count. Contemporary scholarly investigations are predominantly centered on identifying risk factors, devising preventative measures, and exploring novel and secure methods of pain management. The current investigation has revealed the focal areas and patterns of studies pertaining to PHN. Presently, the research in this field is focused on identifying the risk factors and preventive measures for PHN, alongside exploring novel and secure pain management strategies.

Abstract
Purpose To explore the potential therapeutic strategies of different types of neuropathic pain (NP) and to summarize the cutting-edge novel approaches for NP treatment based on the clinical trials registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. Methods The relevant clinical trials were searched using ClinicalTrials.gov Dec 08, 2022. NP is defined as a painful condition caused by neurological lesions or diseases. All data were obtained and reviewed by the investigators to confirm whether they were related to the current topic. Results A total of 914 trials were included in this study. They were divided into painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN), postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), sciatica (SC), peripheral nerve injury-related NP (PNI), trigeminal neuralgia (TN), chemotherapy-induced NP (CINP), general peripheral NP (GPNP) and spinal cord injury NP (SCI-NP). Potential novel therapeutic strategies, such as novel drug targets and physical means, were discussed for each type of NP. Conclusion NP treatment is mainly dominated by drug therapy, and physical means have become increasingly popular. It is worth noting that novel drug targets, new implications of conventional medicine, and novel physical means can serve as promising strategies for the treatment of NP. However, more attention needs to be paid to the challenges of translating research findings into clinical practice.

Abstract
AIMS To visualize the trends and hotspots in the scientific research related to vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) quantitatively and qualitatively. METHODS Cross-sectional bibliometric analysis of publications that related to VCI was conducted. Publications were found by searching in the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoSCC) - Edition: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) from January 2000 to December 2021. Publication type was restricted to article and review in the English language. The downloaded data were screened and analyzed in January 2022. RESULTS In total, 16,264 publications were identified, with a steady increase in annual publications. The United States was the leading country in VCI research regarding publication numbers and national influence. National Institute of Aging had the highest influence among all the institutes in the field of VCI. Philip Scheltens was the most active author. The top five active authors' publications focused on pathobiology, neuroimaging standards, risk factors, prevention, and the standard diagnosis of vascular dementia (VaD). A co-cited publication clustering resulted in 19 main clusters, and the prevention, blood-brain barrier, cholesterol, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and VaD were the top 5 clusters. Moreover, burst keywords detection revealed that the "small vessel disease" is the current hotspot in the field of VCI. CONCLUSIONS This bibliometric analysis mapped the overall research structure of VCI and analyzed the current research trends and hotspots for future studies orientation. Neuroimaging, risk factors detection, and pathobiology are the current trends in VCI research. Small vessel disease and its mechanisms are the current hotspots of VCI research.

Abstract
Background Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a common tissue-organ damage occurring in surgical practice. This study aims to comprehensively review the collaboration and impact of countries, institutions, authors, subject areas, journals, keywords, and critical literature on intestinal I/R injury from a bibliometric perspective, and to assess the evolution of clustering of knowledge structures and identify hot trends and emerging topics. Methods Articles and reviews related to intestinal I/R were retrieved through subject search from Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric analyses were conducted on Excel 365, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix (R-Tool of R-Studio). Results A total of 1069 articles and reviews were included from 2004 to 2022. The number of articles on intestinal I/R injury gradually plateaued, but the number of citations increased. These publications were mainly from 985 institutions in 46 countries, led by China and the United States. Liu Kx published the most papers, while Chiu Cj had the largest number of co-citations. Analysis of the journals with the most outputs showed that most journals focused on surgical sciences, cell biology, and immunology. Macroscopic sketch and microscopic characterization of the entire knowledge domain were achieved through co-citation analysis. The roles of cell death, exosomes, intestinal flora, and anesthetics in intestinal I/R injury are the current and developing research focuses. The keywords "dexmedetomidine", "proliferation", and "ferroptosis" may also become new trends and focus of future research. Conclusion This study comprehensively reviews the research on intestinal I/R injury using bibliometric and visualization methods, and will help scholars better understand the dynamic evolution of intestinal I/R injury and provide directions for future research.
