Abstract
BACKGROUND Weaning-associated enteric diseases are a major concern in the swine industry. This study investigates the effects of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) on the jejunum of weanling piglets, a segment of bowel less studied in terms of microbiomic changes despite its primary involvement in major post-weaning enteric diseases, including postweaning diarrhea (PWD). Thirty-two 3-week-old piglets were divided equally into two groups: Control and FMT. The FMT group received fecal microbiota preparation from 3-month-old healthy pigs on the 1st and 3rd day after weaning. Half of each group was inoculated with an enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) isolate 10 days post-FMT. Piglets were euthanized in the third week (14th and 18th days post-FMT) after weaning to collect intestinal tissues and contents for microbiomic, metabolomic, and transcriptomic analyses. RESULTS The jejunal microbiota showed a significant increase in alpha diversity in the third week post-FMT compared with the ileum and colon. FMT significantly enriched the jejunal microbiota composition, while multiple bacterial genera were specifically lacking in control weanling piglets. FMT was strongly associated with the enrichment of the genus Pseudoscardovia of the Bifidobacteriaceae family, which was found lacking in the jejunum of weanling control piglets and inversely associated with the abundance of the genus Bifidobacterium within the same family. Other genera associated with FMT included Solobacterium, Shuttleworthia, and Pseudoraminibacter, whereas bacteria such as Erysipelotrichaceae and Acidaminococcus were identified as most abundant in the control piglets. Metabolomic analysis revealed a significant modulatory effect of FMT on carbohydrate, amino acid, nucleotide, vitamin, and xenobiotic metabolisms, suggesting improved nutrient utilization. Transcriptomic analyses further confirmed the regulatory effects of FMT on gene expression associated with immune, metabolic, barrier, and neuroendocrine functions. Prior FMT treatment in the context of ETEC infection indicated a potential protective role, as evidenced by a significant shift in microbial diversity and metabolomic compositions and decreased diarrhea severity even though no effect on pathogen shedding was evident. CONCLUSIONS This study underscores the promise of FMT in enhancing jejunal health. In addition, the results suggest that FMT could be considered a potential strategy to address conditions associated with small intestinal dysbiosis in swine and other monogastric species with similar gut anatomy and physiology, such as humans. Abstract
Compared with leaner breeds, local Chinese pig breeds have distinct intestinal microbial, as determined by metagenomic techniques, and the interactions between oral microorganisms and their hosts are also gradually being clarified. However, the high host genome content means that few metagenome-based oral microbiomes have been reported. Here, we combined dilution-based metagenomic sequencing and binning approaches to extract the microbial genomes from the oral microbiomes of Tibetan and Duroc pigs. The host contamination rates were reduced to 13.64%, a quarter of the normal metagenomic level (65.25% on average). Medium-high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs; n = 3,448) spanning nine phyla were retrieved and 70.79% were novel species. Of the nonredundant MAGs, only 13.37% were shared, revealing the strong disparities between Tibetan and Duroc pigs. The oral microbial diversity of the Duroc pig was greater than that of the Tibetan pig. We present the first large-scale dilute-based metagenomic data on the pig oral microbiome, which should facilitate further investigation of the functions of oral microorganisms in pigs.

Abstract
Individual differences in environmental sensitivity are linked to stress-related psychiatric symptoms. In previous research, we found that high environmental sensitivity can be a risk factor for increased inflammation and gut permeability, particularly when gut microbiome diversity is low. However, the specific gut bacterial taxa involved in this interaction remain unclear. As a preliminary study, this research aimed to identify the key gut microbiome taxa associated with this relationship. Environmental sensitivity, gut microbiome composition, gut permeability (lipopolysaccharide-binding protein, LBP), and inflammation (C-reactive protein, CRP) biomarkers were evaluated in 88 participants. The interaction between environmental sensitivity and the relative abundance of the family Marinifilaceae (genus Butyricimonas) was a predictor of CRP levels. Similarly, the interaction between environmental sensitivity and relative abundance of the family Barnesiellaceae (genus Coprobacter), the family Akkermansiaceae (genus Akkermansia), the genus Family XIII AD3011 group, the genus GCA-900066225, or the genus Ruminiclostridium 1 predicted LBP levels. Individuals with high environmental sensitivity exhibited elevated CRP or LBP levels when the relative abundance of these taxa was low. Conversely, highly sensitive individuals had lower CRP or LBP levels when the relative abundance of these taxa was high. This study suggests that specific taxa serve as one of the protective factors against inflammation and gut permeability in individuals with high environmental sensitivity. Further in-depth studies are needed to confirm these associations and understand the underlying mechanisms.

Abstract
Studies conducted so far have shown that nano- and microplastic may disturb the intestinal microenvironment by interacting with the intestinal epithelium and the gut microbiota. Depending on the research model used, the effect on the microbiome is different-an increase or decrease in selected taxa resulting in the development of dysbiosis. Dysbiosis may be associated with intestinal inflammation, development of mental disorders or diabetes. The aim of the study was to analyze the intestinal microbiome in 15 gilts divided into 3 research groups (n = 5; control group, receiving micropartices at a dose 0.1 g/day (LD) and 1 g/day (HD)). Feaces were collected before and after 28 days of exposure to PET microplastics. The analysis of the intestinal microbiome was performed using next-generation sequencing. Alpha and beta diversity indices were compared, showing, that repetition affected only the abundance indices in the control and LD groups, but not in the HD group. The relationships between the number of reads at the phylum, genus and species level and the microplastic dose were calculated using statistical methods (r-Pearson correlation, generalized regression model, analysis of variance). The statistical analysis revealed, that populations of Family XIII AD3011 group, Coprococcus, V9D2013 group, UCG-010 and Sphaerochaeta increased with increasing MP-PET dose. The above-mentioned taxa are mainly responsible for the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA). It may be assumed, that SCFA are one of the mechanisms involved in the response to oral exposure to MP-PET.

Abstract
Tibetan pigs are a locally bred domestic pig breed originating from the Tibetan Plateau in China. They can be categorized into four distinct groups based on their geographical locations: Sichuan Tibetan pigs, Tibetan pigs from Tibet, Yunnan Tibetan pigs, and Gansu Tibetan pigs. This study aimed to explore population diversity, genetic structure and selection signals among Tibetan pigs in four Chinese national nature reserves. The results show that there is different observed heterozygosity among Tibetan pig populations (0.1957-0.1978). Ratio of runs of homozygosity (Froh) calculation of four Tibetan pig populations by runs of homozygosity (ROH) revealed the presence of inbreeding within the population (0.0336-0.0378). Analysis of the genetic structure demonstrated distinct population stratification among the four Tibetan pig populations, with each showing relatively independent evolutionary directions. Furthermore, Five methods (FST, Piratio, ROD, Tajima's D, XP-CLR) were used to artificially select evolutionary trajectories. The results mainly involved processes such as DNA repair, immune regulation, muscle fat deposition and adaptation to hypoxia. In conclusion, this study enhances our understanding of the genetic characteristics of Tibetan pig populations and provides a theoretical reference for the conservation of resources across different populations of Tibetan pigs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the rapid development of animal husbandry, the demand for protein feed resources is increasing. Cottonseed meal (CSM) and soybean meal (SBM) are rich sources of protein. However, their application is limited due to the existence of anti-nutrients, which can be harmful to the digestion and absorption. A strain of Bacillus subtilis (Mafic-Y7) was isolated from digesta of intestines of Tibetan pigs. The strain showed high protease activity, which helps in degrading proteinic anti-nutritional factors in grain meal and in vitro degradation of free gossypol. In order to better understand this isolated strain, whole genome of Mafic-Y7 strain was sequenced and analyzed. Different effects on various grain meals were identified. RESULT The GC-depth Poisson distributions showed no bias suggesting high-quality genome assembly of Mafic-Y7. The whole genome sequencing showed that one chromosome with 4,248,845 base pairs(bp)and the genes total length with 3,736,524 bp was predicted in Mafic-Y7. Additionally, Mafic-Y7 possessed 4,254 protein-coding genes, and several protease genes were annotated by aligning them with databases. There are 55 protease genes, one phytase gene and one laccase gene were annotated in the gene sequence of Mafic-Y7. The average nucleotide identity between Mafic-Y7 and the GCA-000009045.1 homologous genome was 0.9938, suggesting a close genetic relationship between them at the species level. Compared with the closest four whole genomes, Mafic-Y7 was annotated the most abundant of protease genes (55 genes). The fermentation supernatant of Mafic-Y7 could increase the content of small peptides, water-soluble proteins, and acid-soluble proteins in vitro by 411%, 281% and 317% in SBM and 420%, 257% and 338% in CSM. After fermentation in grain meal by Mafic-Y7, the degradation rate of anti-nutritional factors in SBM, such as trypsin inhibitor, glycinin, and β-conglycinin was greater than 70%, and lectin was greater than 30%. The degradation rates of anti-nutritional factors in CSM, such as gossypol and phytic acid, were 82% and 26%, respectively.

Abstract
As the most abundant group of mammals, rodents possess a very rich ecotype, which makes them ideal for studying the relationship between diet and host gut microecology. Zokors are specialized herbivorous rodents adapted to living underground. Unlike more generalized herbivorous rodents, they feed on the underground parts of grassland plants. There are two species of the genus Myospalax in the Eurasian steppes in China: one is Myospalax psilurus, which inhabits meadow grasslands and forest edge areas, and the other is M. aspalax, which inhabits typical grassland areas. How are the dietary choices of the two species adapted to long-term subterranean life, and what is the relationship of this diet with gut microbes? Are there unique indicator genera for their gut microbial communities? Relevant factors, such as the ability of both species to degrade cellulose, are not yet clear. In this study, we analyzed the gut bacterial communities and diet compositions of two species of zokors using 16S amplicon technology combined with macro-barcoding technology. We found that the diversity of gut microbial bacterial communities in M. psilurus was significantly higher than that in M. aspalax, and that the two species of zokors possessed different gut bacterial indicator genera. Differences in the feeding habits of the two species of zokors stem from food composition rather than diversity. Based on the results of Mantel analyses, the gut bacterial community of M. aspalax showed a significant positive correlation with the creeping-rooted type food, and there was a complementary relationship between the axis root-type-food- and the rhizome-type-food-dominated (containing bulb types and tuberous root types) food groups. Functional prediction based on KEGG found that M. psilurus possessed a stronger degradation ability in the same cellulose degradation pathway. Neutral modeling results show that the gut flora of the M. psilurus has a wider ecological niche compared to that of the M. aspalax. This provides a new perspective for understanding how rodents living underground in grassland areas respond to changes in food conditions.

Abstract
Tibetan pig is a geographically isolated pig breed that inhabits high-altitude areas of the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau. At present, there is limited research on viral diseases in Tibetan pigs. This study provides a novel metagenomic exploration of the gut virome in Tibetan pigs (altitude ≈ 3000 m) across three critical developmental stages, including lactation, nursery, and fattening. The composition of viral communities in the Tibetan pig intestine, with a dominant presence of Microviridae phages observed across all stages of development, in combination with the previous literature, suggest that it may be associated with geographical locations with high altitude. Functional annotation of viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs) highlights that, among the constantly increasing vOTUs groups, the adaptability of viruses to environmental stressors such as salt and heat indicates an evolutionary response to high-altitude conditions. It shows that the lactation group has more abundant viral auxiliary metabolic genes (vAMGs) than the nursery and fattening groups. During the nursery and fattening stages, this leaves only DNMT1 at a high level. which may be a contributing factor in promoting gut health. The study found that viruses preferentially adopt lytic lifestyles at all three developmental stages. These findings not only elucidate the dynamic interplay between the gut virome and host development, offering novel insights into the virome ecology of Tibetan pigs and their adaptation to high-altitude environments, but also provide a theoretical basis for further studies on pig production and epidemic prevention under extreme environmental conditions.

Abstract
Fat is one of the three macronutrients and a significant energy source for piglets. It plays a positive role in maintaining intestinal health and improving production performance. During the weaning period, physiological, stress and diet-related factors influence the absorption of fat in piglets, leading to damage to the intestinal barrier, diarrhea and even death. Signaling pathways, such as fatty acid translocase (CD36), pregnane X receptor (PXR), and AMP-dependent protein kinase (AMPK), are responsible for regulating intestinal fat uptake and maintaining intestinal barrier function. Therefore, this review mainly elaborates on the reasons for diarrhea induced by insufficient fat absorption and related signaling pathways in weaned-piglets, with an emphasis on the intestinal fat absorption disorder. Moreover, we focus on introducing nutritional strategies that can promote intestinal fat absorption in piglets with insufficient fat absorption-related diarrhea, such as lipase, amino acids, and probiotics.

Abstract
Post-weaning diarrhea is common in piglets, causing huge economic losses worldwide. Associations between LPS challenge, intestinal inflammation, and microbiota have been reported in Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire (DLY) crossbred pigs. However, the effects of LPS challenge in other breeds remain unclear. In the current study, we performed a comprehensive comparative analysis of the effects of LPS challenge on jejunal mucosal morphology, jejunal microbial composition, and serum indexes in two pig breeds: DLY and Heigai, an indigenous Chinese breed. The results showed that LPS caused considerable damage to the mucosal morphology, enhanced serum levels of inflammatory cytokines and the intestinal permeability index, and lowered the antioxidant capacity index. LPS challenge also changed the microbial composition and structure of the jejunum, significantly increased the abundances of Escherichia-Shigella in DLY pigs, and decreased those of Gemella and Saccharimonadales in Heigai pigs. Furthermore, LPS challenge triggered functional changes in energy metabolism and activities related to the stress response in the jejunal bacterial community, alleviating the inflammatory response in Heigai pigs. This study also revealed that Heigai pigs had a weaker immune response to LPS challenge than DLY pigs, and identified several genera related to the breed-specific phenotypes of Heigai pigs, including Gemella, Saccharimonadales, Clostridia_UCG_014, Terrisporobacter, and Dielma. Our collective findings uncovered differences between Heigai and DLY pigs in intestinal inflammation and microbiota dysbiosis induced by LPS challenge, providing a theoretical basis for unraveling the mechanism of intestinal inflammation in swine and proposing microbial candidates involved in the resistance to diarrhea in piglets.

Abstract
Tibetan pigs are indigenous to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and have been the subject of extensive genomic research primarily focused on their adaptation to high altitudes. However, genetic modifications associated with their response to low-altitude acclimation have not been thoroughly explored. To investigate the genetic basis underlying the low-altitude acclimation of Tibetan pigs, we generated and analyzed genotyping data of Tibetan pigs that inhabit high-altitude regions (average altitude 4000 m) and Tibetan pigs that have inhabited nearby low-altitude regions (average altitude 500 m) for approximately 20 generations. We found that the highland and lowland Tibetan pigs have distinguishable genotype and phenotype variations. We identified 46 and 126 potentially selected SNPs associated with 29 and 56 candidate genes in highland and lowland Tibetan pigs, respectively. Candidate genes in the highland Tibetan pigs were involved in immune response (NFYC and STAT1) and radiation (NABP1), whereas candidate genes in the lowland Tibetan pigs were related to reproduction (ESR2, DMRTA1, and ZNF366), growth and development (NTRK3, FGF18, and MAP1B), and blood pressure regulation (CARTPT). These findings will help to understand the mechanisms of environmental adaptation in Tibetan pigs and offer valuable information into the genetic improvement of Tibetan pigs pertaining to low-altitude acclimation and economic traits.

Abstract
Panax notoginseng is a Chinese medicine with a long history in which stems and leaves are the wastes of processing Panax notoginseng and have not been effectively utilized. The effects of diets containing Panax notoginseng stems and leaves on the cecal short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) concentration and microbiome of independent pigs were studied. Diets containing Panax notoginseng stems and leaves did not affect the concentration of SCFA in the cecal contents of Duzang pigs but affected the microbial composition and diversity. Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, and Bacteroidetes dominate in the cecal of Duzang pigs. Feeding Duzang pigs with a 10% Panax notoginseng stems and leaves diet increases the abundance of Lactobacillus, Christensenellaceae R-7 group, and Akkermansia in the cecal. We found 14 genera positively associated with acetate, and they were Lactobacillus, Ruminococcaceae UCG 005, Ruminiclostridium 6; Escherichia Shigella and Family XIII AD3011 group showed negative correlations. Solobacterium, Desulfovibrio, and Erysipelatoclostridium were positively associated with propionate. Campylobacter, Clostridium sensu stricto 11, and Angelakisella were positively associated with butyrate. In conclusion, Panax notoginseng stems and leaves could affect the cecal microbial community and functional composition of Duzang pigs. Panax notoginseng stems and leaves reduce the enrichment of lipopolysaccharide biosynthetic pathway of the cecal microbiome, which may have a positive effect on intestinal health. The higher abundance of GH25 family in Duzang pig's cecal microbiome of fed Panax notoginseng stems and leaves diet. This increase may be the reason for the microbial diversity decrease.

Abstract
The lactation-pregnancy overlap in the industrialized 49-d breeding model increases nutritional demands for lactating-pregnant rabbit does. This study examined the effects of folic acid (FA) on the production performance and intestinal microflora of does with different litter sizes (LS, or number of kits). A total of 144 third-parity Hyplus does, aged 11 mo and weighing approximately 5.00 ± 0.07 kg, were divided into 4 treatment groups: control group (basal diet) and FA groups (basal diet + 15, 30, and 45 mg/kg FA). Does with LS of 5, 7, and 9 were selected after weaning. Our findings revealed that 1) Increased FA supplementation initially increased and then decreased the pre-lactation body weight of 21-d-old kits and prolactin (PRL) level of lactating does, while showing an inverse trend for estrogen (E) level of does. Increased LS significantly (P < 0.05) correlated with reduced milk yield of does. There was a significant (P < 0.05) interaction between FA and LS affecting PRL, E, growth hormone levels of does, and the pre-lactation body weight of 21-d-old kits; 2) Increased FA supplementation initially increased and then decreased the post-lactation body weight of 21-d-old and 35-d-old kits, elevated plasma FA (PFA) level of lactating-pregnant does, and significantly (P < 0.05) impacted the pregnancy rate of does. Increased LS was associated with reduced post-lactation body weight in 21-d-old and 35-d-old kits (P < 0.05). There was a significant (P < 0.05) interaction between FA and LS affecting plasma insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), homocysteine (HCY), PFA levels of does, the post-lactation body weight of 21-d-old kits, and weaning body weight of 35-d-old kits; and 3) FA supplementation promoted the growth of Ruminococcaceae and Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group in the feces of lactating-pregnant does, as well as the proliferation of Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group in the feces of pregnant does, suggesting enhanced anti-inflammatory properties and improved crude fiber breakdown. In summary, FA supplementation improved conception rates, regulated lactation-related hormone synthesis and secretion, increased body weight of 21-d-old kits, and enhanced intestinal anti-inflammatory functions.

Abstract
Intestinal microbiota has an important impact on pig phenotypes. Previous studies mainly focused on the microbiota of feces and worldwide farmed commercial pigs, while research on the microbiota of various intestinal sections and indigenous pig breeds is very limited. This study aimed to characterize and compare the biogeography of intestinal microbiota in pigs of one Chinese indigenous breed and one commercial crossbred. In this study, we sequenced the microbiota of six intestinal segments in the grown-up pigs of a Chinese indigenous breed, Laiwu pigs, and the worldwide farmed crossbred Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire (DLY) pigs by 16S rRNA sequencing, characterized the biogeography of intestinal microbiota, and compared the compositional and functional differences between the two breeds. The results showed that there were obvious differences in microbial structure and abundance between the small and large intestines. Laiwu pigs had higher large intestinal diversity than DLY pigs, while DLY pigs had higher small intestinal diversity than Laiwu pigs. Moreover, some specific bacterial taxa and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways were found to be related to the high fat deposition and good meat quality of Laiwu pigs and the high growth speed and lean meat rate of DLY pigs. This study provides an insight into the shifts in taxonomic composition, microbial diversity, and functional profile of intestinal microbiota in six intestinal segments of Laiwu and DLY pigs, which would be essential for exploring the potential influence of the host's genetic background on variation in microbiota composition and diversity.

Abstract
Gut microbiota play an important role in the gut ecology and development of pigs, which is always regulated by nutrients. This study investigated the effect of L-Citrulline on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and its potential regulatory mechanism. The results showed that 1% dietary L-Citrulline supplementation for 52 days significantly increased final weight, liveweight gain, carcass weight, and average backfat and markedly decreased drip loss (p < 0.05) of finishing pigs compared with the control group. Microbial analysis of fecal samples revealed a marked increase in α-diversity and significantly altered composition of gut microbiota in finishing pigs in response to L-Citrulline. In particular, these altered gut microbiota at the phylum and genus level may be mainly involved in the metabolic process of carbohydrate, energy, and amino acid, and exhibited a significant association with final weight, carcass weight, and backfat thickness. Taken together, our data revealed the potential role of L-Citrulline in the modulation of growth performance, carcass characteristics, and the meat quality of finishing pigs, which is most likely associated with gut microbiota.

Abstract
Finishing weight is a key economic trait in the domestic pig industry. Evidence has linked the gut microbiota and SCFAs to health and production performance in pigs. Nevertheless, for Diannan small ear (DSE) pigs, a specific pig breed in China, the potential effect of gut microbiota and SCFAs on their finishing weight remains unclear. Herein, based on the data of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene and metagenomic sequencing analysis, we found that 13 OTUs could be potential biomarkers and 19 microbial species were associated with finishing weight. Among these, carbohydrate-decomposing bacteria of the families Streptococcaceae, Lactobacillaceae, and Prevotellaceae were positively related to finishing weight, whereas the microbial taxa associated with intestinal inflammation and damage exhibited opposite effects. In addition, interactions of these microbial species were found to be linked with finishing weight for the first time. Gut microbial functional annotation analysis indicated that CAZymes, such as glucosidase and glucanase could significantly affect finishing weight, given their roles in increasing nutrient absorption efficiency. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) Orthologies (KOs) and KEGG pathways analysis indicated that glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, phosphotransferase system (PTS), secondary bile acid biosynthesis, ABC transporters, sulfur metabolism, and one carbon pool by folate could act as key factors in regulating finishing weight. Additionally, SCFA levels, especially acetate and butyrate, had pivotal impacts on finishing weight. Finishing weight-associated species Prevotella sp. RS2, Ruminococcus sp. AF31-14BH and Lactobacillus pontis showed positive associations with butyrate concentration, and Paraprevotella xylaniphila and Bacteroides sp. OF04-15BH were positively related to acetate level. Taken together, our study provides essential knowledge for manipulating gut microbiomes to improve finishing weight. The underlying mechanisms of how gut microbiome and SCFAs modulate pigs' finishing weight required further elucidation.

Abstract
Gut microbiota and its metabolites play a key role in host metabolism. Our previous study found supplemental Lactobacillus delbrueckii affected lipid metabolism of pigs, however, the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this study, we investigated the effects of L. delbrueckii on colonic bacteria composition and its metabolites, serum lipids and hormone levels, fat metabolism related enzyme activity and gene expression in various tissues of growing-finishing pigs. Twelve pigs were randomly distributed into two groups (n = 6), and pigs in each group were fed diets with (Con + LD) or without (Con) 0.1 % L. delbrueckii for 28 days. Results exhibited the deceased triglyceride (TG) levels and elevated free fatty acid (FFA) contents in serum and increased concentrations of butyric acid in colonic digesta after L. delbrueckii supplementation. Dietary L. delbrueckii increased abundance of Lactobacillus and Butyrivibri and tended to increase abundance of Akkermansia and Megasphaera in colonic digesta. L. delbrueckii consumption up-regulated glucagon-like peptide1 (GLP-1), monocarboxylate transporter1 (MTC1) and sodium-dependent monocarboxylate transporter1 (SMCT1) expression in colonic tissue. Administration of L. delbrueckii tended to increase lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity, up-regulated CPT-1, angiopoietin-like protein 4 (Angpt14), LPL and triglyceride hydrolase (TGH) expression and down-regulated fatty acid synthetase (FAS), G protein-coupled receptor 41(GPR41) and GPR43 expression in the liver. L. delbrueckii addition increased adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase (AMPK) expression in longissimus dorsi, upregulated LPL, CPT-1, Angptl4 and cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) expression in subcutaneous fat, and enhanced LPL, CPT-1, TGH, adipocyte determination and differentiation-dependent factor 1 (ADD1) and hormone sensitive lipase (HSL) expression in leaf lard. These findings suggested that L. delbrueckii might enhance lipolysis and fatty acid β-oxidation to lower serum TG levels via colonic microbiota modulation and short chain fatty acids-mediated lipid metabolism of growing-finishing pigs.
