Abstract
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE Compare outcomes and costs of TNF-alpha inhibitor biosimilars to reference medications in the treatment of pediatric NIU. METHODS Patients 18 years old or below treated with reference or biosimilar TNF-alpha inhibitor for noninfectious uveitis and had a history of active ocular inflammation with at least 1 month of ophthalmology follow-up from January 1, 2013, to June 1, 2023, were included. Retrospective chart review was performed. RESULTS Nineteen patients met the inclusion criteria. Mean age was 9.3±4.0 years, and 47.4% (9/19) were female. Of the patients who were on infliximab at any time point in their disease course (n=9), the mean duration on infliximab was 3.6 years (42 mo). Of the patients on biosimilar infliximab (n=10), the mean duration was 0.82 years (9.8 mo). Mean flares/year was 0.22±0.3 on infliximab and 0.15±0.3 on biosimilar infliximab. The average annual cost was $42,298.97 for infliximab (n =9), $41,141 for infliximab-dyyb (n=9), and $40,950 for infliximab-axxq (n=1). Reasons for switching to biosimilar infliximab from adalimumab included a combination of insurance mandate (100%), worsening disease activity (37.5%), or other issues such as noncompliance (37.5%). CONCLUSIONS The most common reason for biosimilar initiation was insurance mandate. Compared with the reference infliximab, pediatric patients had fewer number of flares per year on biosimilar infliximab, but they were also on the biosimilar for a shorter duration of time compared with the reference which may confound an accurate assessment. Biosimilar infliximab had a lower cost profile compared with reference infliximab.

Abstract
PURPOSE To describe the frequency of uveitis recurrences in patients with non-infectious uveitis treated with the biosimilar infliximab-dyyb. DESIGN Retrospective case series. METHODS Records of uveitis patients treated with the biosimilar infliximab-dyyb between 2016 and 2022 at two institutions were reviewed. Data extracted included patient demographics, diagnosis, previous originator infliximab use, additional immunosuppression medications, infliximab-dyyb use, reason for switch, disease activity, and follow-up time. RESULTS A total of 14 patients were identified. Seven patients were switched from originator infliximab to a biosimilar for nonmedical/non-ocular reasons (insurance prompted the switch). One patient was started directly on infliximab-dyyb due to active joint disease despite well-controlled uveitis. None of these eight patients developed inflammation after the switch. Six patients were started directly on infliximab-dyyb due to poorly controlled uveitis. Of these, five patients achieved disease quiescence during follow-up. The mean dose of originator was 1.79 mg/kg/week, with a median dosing schedule of 4 weeks prior to therapy with infliximab-dyyb. The mean final infliximab-dyyb dosage was 1.81 mg/kg/week, with a median dosing schedule of 4 weeks. CONCLUSION Infliximab-dyyb appears to be efficacious in achieving and maintaining uveitis control.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of switching from adalimumab originator (Humira, AbbVie) to SB5, adalimumab biosimilar (Adalloce, Samsung Bioepis) in patients with noninfectious uveitis (NIU). METHODS Fifteen patients (29 eyes) with NIU who were switched from adalimumab originator to SB5 and followed up for 6 months or longer were retrospectively included. Data consisted of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA, logMAR), intraocular pressure (IOP, mmHg), anterior chamber (AC) cell grade, anterior vitreous (AV) cell grade, vitreous haze grade, central macular thickness (CMT, μm), and macular volume (MV, mm3) at pre-switching, 2, 4, and 6 months post-switching. RESULTS There were no significant differences in BCVA, AC and AV cell grades, and vitreous haze grades at 2, 4, and 6 months post- compared with pre-switching, and no significant differences in CMT and MV at 2 and 6 months post-switching. CMT and MV decreased from 260.55 ± 67.44 μm and 8.37 ± 1.14 mm3 at pre-switching to 244.14 ± 60.31 μm (p = 0.032) and 8.11 ± 1.20 mm3 (p = 0.027) at 4 months post-switching, respectively. There was no recurrence of uveitis, as defined by AC cell grade, vitreous haze, or BCVA. Four patients (27%) were switched back to adalimumab originator after a mean of 9 weeks, due to discomfort during the injection (three patients) and technical difficulty with the new injection device (one patient). No other adverse events occurred after switching to SB5. CONCLUSION Switching from adalimumab originator to SB5 for NIU does not result in clinically significant differences in treatment efficacy and safety.

Abstract
Spondyloarthritis (SpA) encompasses a group of chronic inflammatory disorders of the joints frequently associated with uveitis in almost a quarter of cases. SpA-related uveitis typically affects the eye anterior chamber with sudden onset, causing pain, redness, photophobia, and blurred vision. Ophthalmologists will describe an acute anterior unilateral uveitis. Most patients present with episodic acute anterior non-granulomatous uveitis and retain excellent visual acuity. However, systemic treatments are recommended in the event of frequent relapses (2-3/year) or in rare cases of sight-threatening with ocular complications. The improved understanding of the pathogenesis of SpA has led to the management of this disease by biologics. Here, we review the main data regarding the opportunity to target specific components in inflammatory pathways for the treatment of SpA-related uveitis. These therapies are recommended for long-term control when uveitis relapses occur too frequently despite conventional systemic treatments. Significant benefits have been obtained with the tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitors (TNFis), particularly infliximab and adalimumab. Paradoxically, a high number of uveitis occurrences have been shown on etanercept. Mixed results have been demonstrated with interleukin-17 antagonists (secukinumab) and interleukin-12/interleukin-23 antagonists (ustekinumab) in cases of failure of TNFis. JAK inhibitors seem to be a valuable class of medications for these patients in the future. Although SpA-related uveitis is typically managed with conventional local and/or systemic treatments, these biological/targeted therapies may provide avenues to control both the underlying SpA and uveitis manifestations. Thus, a close collaboration between patients, rheumatologists, internists, and ophthalmologists is needed to optimally manage ocular inflammation in SpA.

Abstract
PURPOSE To describe the course of care and outcomes for 3 uveitis patients formerly on Remicade that were non-medically switched to Inflectra. DESIGN Retrospective observational case series. METHODS •Setting: Tertiary care clinical practice.•Patient population: 3 Uveitis patients, observing both eyes for inflammation as applicable. Patients included if they had been on Inflectra for ≥2 infusions and history of Remicade use. Patients described herein had at least 1 adverse reaction to Inflectra and were switched to Remicade for medical necessity. Patients excluded if they were lost to follow-up or not examined for over 6 months during therapy.•Observation procedures/Interventions: Patients observed for adverse changes in clinical course while on Inflectra. Patients developing these changes on Inflectra were started or restarted on Remicade. RESULTS The 3 patients described herein developed adverse complications while on Inflectra that required switching to Remicade. They were originally on Remicade, and their clinical course worsened beyond what had been controlled with Remicade alone. Our findings are limited by our small sample size, and further investigation is necessary to explore the scope of effects of non-medical biosimilar switching. CONCLUSION Non-medical biosimilar switching from Remicade to Inflectra may induce detrimental side-effects and significant worsening of inflammation in patients with uveitis. Non-medical biosimilar switching from Remicade to Inflectra should be discouraged, and physician input should be sought in establishing an effective and medically-necessary treatment plan for patients with uveitis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adalimumab has demonstrated efficacy in non-infectious uveitis. With the introduction of biosimilar agents such as Amgevita, we aimed to quantify efficacy and tolerability compared to Humira in a multi-centre UK cohort. METHODS Patients identified from tertiary uveitis clinics in 3 centres, after institution-mandated switching was implemented. RESULTS Data collected for 102 patients, aged 2-75 years, with 185 active eyes. Following switch, rates of uveitis flare were not significantly different (13 events before, 21 after, p = .132). Rates of elevated intraocular pressure were decreased (32 before, 25 afterwards, p = .006) and dosing of oral and intra-ocular steroids was stable. Twenty-four patients (24%) requested to return to Humira, commonly due to pain from injection or technical difficulty with the device. CONCLUSION Amgevita is safe and effective for inflammatory uveitis with non-inferiority to Humira. Significant numbers of patients requested to switch back due to side effects including injection site reactions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Since many biological drug patents have expired, biosimilar agents (BIOs) have been developed; however, there are still some reservations in their use, especially in childhood. The aim of the current study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors BIOs as treatment for pediatric non-infectious uveitis (NIU). METHODS Data from pediatric patients with NIU treated with TNF inhibitors BIOs were drawn from the international AutoInflammatory Disease Alliance (AIDA) registries dedicated to uveitis and Behçet's disease. The effectiveness and safety of BIOs were assessed in terms of frequency of relapses, risk for developing ocular flares, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), glucocorticoids (GCs)-sparing effect, drug survival, frequency of ocular complications, and adverse drug event (AE). RESULTS Forty-seven patients (77 affected eyes) were enrolled. The BIOs employed were adalimumab (ADA) (89.4%), etanercept (ETA) (5.3%), and infliximab (IFX) (5.3%). The number of relapses 12 months prior to BIOs and at last follow-up was 282.14 and 52.43 per 100 patients/year. The relative risk of developing ocular flares before BIOs introduction compared to the period following the start of BIOs was 4.49 (95% confidence interval [CI] 3.38-5.98, p = 0.004). The number needed to treat (NNT) for ocular flares was 3.53. Median BCVA was maintained during the whole BIOs treatment (p = 0.92). A significant GCs-sparing effect was observed throughout the treatment period (p = 0.002). The estimated drug retention rate (DRR) at 12-, 24-, and 36-month follow-up were 92.7, 83.3, and 70.8%, respectively. The risk rate for developing structural ocular complications was 89.9/100 patients/year before starting BIOs and 12.7/100 patients/year during BIOs treatment, with a risk ratio of new ocular complications without BIOs of 7.1 (CI 3.4-14.9, p = 0.0003). Three minor AEs were reported. CONCLUSIONS TNF inhibitors BIOs are effective in reducing the number of ocular uveitis relapses, preserving visual acuity, allowing a significant GCs-sparing effect, and preventing structural ocular complications. Abstract
SB5 is an approved biosimilar of adalimumab, a recombinant monoclonal anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) antibody. The approval of SB5 was based on the comparison with reference adalimumab in analytical studies, pharmacokinetic (PK) and immunogenicity assessments, and randomized controlled trials. Efficacy data was primarily obtained in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, and extended to include additional indications such as psoriasis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis by extrapolation. Following its approval, additional post-marketing data have been collected comparing SB5 with reference adalimumab. This review summarizes the clinical data on SB5 from randomized controlled trials and provides a comprehensive overview of the available post-approval data. In "real-world" settings, SB5 was as effective as its reference product across different indications and countries, treatment persistence was well maintained throughout studies, and no new safety concerns were identified. In both controlled and "real-world" settings, switching from reference adalimumab to SB5 was not associated with altered efficacy or clinical complications. In post-approval studies, the quality of SB5 was consistent over time, independent of the batch and process changes, and the SB5 autoinjector was preferred over other autoinjectors by both healthcare professionals and patients. Taken together, these data support the use of SB5 whenever reference adalimumab is appropriate and demonstrate that switching from reference adalimumab to SB5 is feasible.

Abstract
Noninfectious uveitis (NIU) in children and adolescents is a rare but treatable cause of visual impairment in children. Treatments for pediatric NIU and their side effects, along with the risks of vision loss and the need for long-term disease monitoring, pose significant challenges for young patients and their families. Treatment includes local and systemic approaches and this review will focus on systemic therapies that encompass corticosteroids, conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARD), and biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARD). Treatment is generally planned in a stepwise approach. Methotrexate is well-established as the preferential csDMARD in pediatric NIU. Adalimumab, an antitumor necrosis factor (TNF) agent, is the only bDMARD formally approved for pediatric NIU and has a good safety and efficacy profile. Biosimilars are gaining increasing visibility in the treatment of pediatric NIU. Other bDMARD with some evidence in literature for the treatment of pediatric NIU include infliximab, tocilizumab, abatacept, rituximab and, more recently, Janus kinase inhibitors. Important aspects of managing children on these systemic therapies include vaccination issues, risk of infection, and psychological distress. Also, strategies need to address regarding primary nonresponse/secondary loss of response to anti-TNF treatment, biological switching, and monitoring regimens for these drugs. Optimal management of pediatric uveitis involves a multidisciplinary team, including specialist pediatric uveitis and rheumatology nurses, pediatric rheumatologists, psychological support, orthoptic and optometry support, and play specialists.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Scientific evidence of the effectiveness of the tumor necrosis factor inhibitor adalimumab (ADA) in pediatric patients with non-infectious non-anterior uveitis is still limited. The aim of this study is to investigate the therapeutic role of ADA in a cohort of pediatric patients with non-anterior uveitis. METHODS This is an international multicenter study analyzing real-life data referred to pediatric patients treated with ADA for intermediate uveitis/pars planitis, posterior uveitis and panuveitis. Data were drawn from the AutoInflammatory Disease Alliance (AIDA) registry for patients with uveitis. RESULTS Twenty-one patients (36 affected eyes) were enrolled, and all patients benefited from ADA administration. In detail, 11 patients (19 affected eyes) did not experience further ocular inflammation after ADA introduction; 10 cases (17 affected eyes) showed a significant clinical improvement consisting of a decrease in severity and/or frequency of ocular relapses. The number of ocular flares dropped from 3.91 to 1.1 events/patient/year after ADA introduction (p = 0.0009); macular edema and retinal vasculitis were respectively observed in 18 eyes and 20 eyes at the start of ADA and in 4 eyes and 2 eyes at the last assessment. The mean daily glucocorticoid dosage significantly decreased from 26.8 ± 16.8 mg/day at the start of ADA to 6.25 ± 6.35 mg/day at the last assessment (p = 0.002). Intermediate uveitis/pars planitis (p = 0.01) and posterior uveitis (p = 0.03) were more frequently observed in patients with full response to ADA; panuveitis (p = 0.001) was significantly more frequent among patients continuing to experience uveitic flares. This could be related to a higher use of systemic glucocorticoids (p = 0.002) and conventional immunosuppressants (p = 0.007) at the start of ADA when treating intermediate uveitis/pars planitis. Regarding the safety profile, only one adverse event was reported during ADA treatment, consisting of the development of generalized adenopathy. CONCLUSIONS ADA proved to have an effective therapeutic role in all pediatric patients with non-anterior uveitis enrolled in the study. An overall glucocorticoid-sparing effect was observed despite the severity of cases enrolled. A more aggressive treatment of panuveitis and posterior uveitis at start of ADA could increase the likelihood of full response to therapy.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Behçet's disease (BD) associated uveitis occurs in approximately 50-70% of the patients. Ocular involvement in BD may induce a severe affection of visual function, leading to a considerable decrease in patients' quality of life. The risk for severe visual loss increases when the ocular posterior segment is involved and in patients with no adequate treatment. AREAS COVERED Monoclonal tumor necrosis factor (TNF) biotechnological inhibitors represent a relatively recent milestone for the treatment of non-infectious uveitis (NIU) also in BD patients. In addition to TNF inhibitors, further biologic agents have been increasingly proposed for multi-recalcitrant cases, as for interleukin (IL)-1 and IL-6 inhibitors. However, evidence on these new opportunities requires to be widened in the next future. EXPERT OPINION Joining the forces for scientific efforts is essential to quickly obtain solid acquisitions useful for the everyday clinical practice. To this end, the Auto-Inflammatory Disease Alliance (AIDA) Network has recently supported the development of an international registry dedicated to NIU and other inflammatory ocular involvement observed in BD patients. This will be essential to resolve current and future unmet needs burdening the everyday clinical practice.

Abstract
Biological therapies have revolutionized the treatment of disease across a number of therapeutic areas including retinal diseases. However, on occasion, such treatments may be relatively more expensive compared to small molecule therapies. This can restrict patient access and treatment length leading to suboptimal clinical outcomes. Several biosimilar candidates of ranibizumab and aflibercept are currently in development and the first biosimilar of ranibizumab received EMA approval in August and FDA approval in September 2021. Biosimilars are biological medicines that are highly similar to an already-approved biological medicine (reference product). The physicochemical and clinical similarity of a biosimilar is determined by a rigorous analytical and clinical program, including extensive pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analysis with phase III equivalence studies where appropriate. These phase III studies are carried out in a patient population that is representative of all of the potential approved therapeutic indications of the originator product and the most sensitive for detecting potential differences between the biosimilar and the reference product. Biosimilars have been used successfully across a wide range of therapeutic areas for the past 15 years where they have achieved substantial cost savings that can be reinvested into healthcare systems without affecting the quality of patient care. The current review provides an introduction to biosimilars with the aim of preparing retinal specialists for discussing these products with their patients.

Recurrence Rates of Inflammation after Switching from the Originator Infliximab to Biosimilar Infliximab-abda for Noninfectious Uveitis. Am J Ophthalmol 2021; 225:172-177. Abstract
PURPOSE To describe the frequency of ocular flares in patients with noninfectious uveitis who were switched from the originator infliximab to a biosimilar infliximab. DESIGN Retrospective case series. METHODS All patients with noninfectious uveitis who were switched from the originator infliximab to biosimilar infliximab-abda for nonmedical reasons were reviewed. Patients were excluded if they had less than 3 months of follow-up on either drug. Data included patient demographics, infliximab dosage information, additional immunosuppression medications, and numbers of and times to flares. The main study outcome was frequency of flares, defined as new or worsening inflammatory activity on examination or imaging. RESULTS A total of 17 patients met the inclusion criteria. There were no statistical differences between the duration of follow-up while on the originator and the duration while on the biosimilar infliximab (12.0 vs. 10.1 months, respectively; P = .307). Patients experienced more flares per person-years after switching to infliximab-abda (.92), than on the originator infliximab (0.19; P = .028). Four of the 6 patients (66.7%) who experienced flare after switching to infliximab-abda did so within 90 days. Only 1 patient had flares while on originator infliximab went on to develop a single flare on infliximab-abda. The final normalized dosage for patients who flared and remained on infliximab-abda (1.301 mg/kg/week) was higher than that for those who did not flare (1.186 mg/kg/week) but was not statistically significant (P = .417). CONCLUSIONS Patients who were switched to biosimilar infliximab-abda experience more flares than when previously treated with the originator infliximab. Providers should closely observe patients who switch to biosimilar infliximab, especially within the first 90 days. Patients who do have flares after switching may achieve quiescence with increased biosimilar dosage.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the efficacy of biosimilar infliximab compared to that of the originator infliximab for the treatment of chronic non-infectious uveitis. DESIGN Before-and-after study. METHODS All patients in the Central Norway Health Region between 2007 and 2018 were included. They were switched from originator to biosimilar infliximab therapy from 2014 to 2017. The primary outcome was quiescence of uveitis before and after the switch. All patients were seen every 1-3 months. Visits were binned into 3-month long periods for each patient takingboth medications. Poisson regression analysis was used to estimate the incidence rate ratio (IRR) of quiescence between the 2 treatments. RESULTS Twenty-nine patients were treated with infliximab. Twenty-three of those patients were switched from originator to biosimilar infliximab. The majority were white (87%), female (92%), and had chronic anterior uveitis (65%). For patients taking the originator and biosimilar drugs, the median treatment duration was38 months (range: 8-131 months) and 15 months (range: 5-55 months), respectively. Concomitant immunosuppressive medications and topical and oral steroids were used similarly during treatment with both originator and biosimilar infliximab. The IRR for quiescence was 0.91 (95% confidence intervals [CI]: 0.7-1.1; P = 0.38), which indicated no statistically significant differences in achieving quiescence after the switch. Also, there were no differences in the incidence rate of flare events with the switch (IRR: 1.04; 95% CI: 0.36-2.98; P = 0.95). IRR adjusted for intraocular surgery was 0.90 (95% CI: 0.7-1.1; P = 0.37). CONCLUSIONS No evidence of differences in effectiveness were found in comparing biosimilar to originator infliximab in patients with chronic non-infectious uveitis.

Abstract
Introduction:
To report with multi-modal imaging the clinical course of 3 patients with new-onset uveitis following treatment with etanercept.
Methods:
Retrospective case-note reviews were conducted of 3 patients previously established on etanercept who developed new-onset acute uveitis.
Results and Discussion:
Three patients were assessed with a mean age of 44.3 (43-47). Etanercept was indicated for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis in two patients and psoriatic arthritis in 1 patient. Duration of etanercept treatment ranged from 7 to 10 years; however, in two cases, treatment recently changed to an etanercept biosimilar agent. Two patients were diagnosed with bilateral panuveitis and one patient had chronic relapsing anterior uveitis. Infection screen was negative in all three patients. 2 patients developed cystoid macular oedema as viewed on Spectral Domain OCT. Fundus fluorescein angiography was performed in one patient who demonstrated bilateral retinal vasculitis. All three patients were started on systemic and topical treatment. One patient received sub-tenon triamcinolone injection. Etanercept was discontinued for all patients. 1 of 3 patients lost vision at 7 months. 2 patients demonstrated long-term remission and one patient required intravitreal steroid implantation to stabilize an ongoing intraocular inflammation. Two patients who had complete remission were commenced on Adalimumab while the third patient was commenced on Secukinumab.
Conclusion:
The clinical course of uveitis developing paradoxically following etanercept treatment is variable. Multi-modal imaging is useful for the clinician that helps in diagnosing and monitoring associated macular oedema and retinal ischaemia. Cessation of etanercept and systemic corticosteroid treatment are often required to prevent ocular morbidity.

Abstract
Introduction: Behçet's disease uveitis (BDU) is a potentially blinding disorder. Systemic treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) is mandatory in patients with intraocular inflammation involving the posterior segment of the eye. Areas covered: This article discusses existing systemic treatment with corticosteroids and conventional and biologic DMARDs as well as adjunctive local therapy in BDU. An overview is provided for a wide range of biologic DMARDs that have shown promise or investigated in clinical trials. Most recently introduced biologic DMARDs and targeted synthetic DMARDs are also reviewed for their potential in the treatment of BDU. Expert opinion: The prognosis of patients with BDU has remarkably improved after the introduction of biologic DMARDs. An expanding therapeutic armamentarium will allow treatment of most refractory cases. The ultimate goal is to provide drug-free remission with preservation of 20/20 vision.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Noninfectious uveitis represents one of the leading causes of blindness in developed Countries, compromising patients' quality of life and social functioning. The main treatment goals are the control of ocular inflammation, to avert and treat sight-threatening complications, thus preserving and/or restoring visual function. AREAS COVERED This manuscript deals with systemic therapy with biologic drugs for noninfectious uveitis. An extensive literature search in the MEDLINE database (via PubMed) has been performed up to June 2020. The major classes of biologic molecules employed in ocular inflammatory diseases have been reviewed, focusing on TNF inhibitors, IL-1, IL-6, IL-17, IL-23 inhibitors, interferons, rituximab, and abatacept efficacy and safety. An overview of most recent developments in the field has been provided as well, with reference to the experience with JAK inhibitors and with biosimilar drugs. EXPERT OPINION The development of the concept of targeted therapy and the subsequent introduction of biologic molecules in clinical practice have revolutionized the prognosis of uveitis. The target of a rapid and sustained steroid-free remission of ocular inflammation should be pursued for all patients early in the disease course, in order to have a better chance to improve the final visual outcome.

Abstract
The recent introduction of biological agents has revolutionized the treatment of chronic immune-inflammatory diseases; however, this new therapy did not come without significant side effects.Through large controlled studies indicating decrease in the number of uveitis flares, the role of TNF inhibitors therapy for non-infectious uveitis gained more ground. Paradoxically to its therapeutic effect, there are reports associating these drugs with the onset or recurrence of inflammatory eye disease.A number of studies have suggested possible roles for anti-TNF-α agents in precipitating or worsening an underlying inflammatory process, including the hypothesis of a disequilibrium in cytokine balance, but to date the mechanisms responsible for these adverse events are not fully understood.A PubMed literature search was performed using the following terms: ophthalmic complication, uveitis, inflammatory eye disease, optic neuritis, neuropathy, adverse events, anti-TNF, TNF alpha inhibitor, infliximab, etanercept, adalimumab, golimumab, certolizumab, and biologics. The data presented in this study was mainly derived from the use of TNF inhibitors in rheumatology, essentially because these drugs have been used for a longer period in this medical field.Many of the ocular adverse events reported on this review may be considered a paradoxical effect of anti-TNF therapy. We found a variety of data associating new onset of uveitis with anti-TNF therapy for rheumatic conditions, predominantly under etanercept.In conclusion, although there is increasing data on ocular adverse events, it remains to be seen whether the suggested link between TNF inhibitors and the onset of ocular inflammation is substantiated by more quality data. Nevertheless, the awareness of potential treatment side effects with anti-TNF should be highlighted.
