Role of Reputation in Sustainable Performance of Online Crowdsourcing Vendors: An Explanation From Transaction Cost Theory

This study reveals a new finding on the impact of reputation growth on crowdsourcing vendors’ sustainable performance in different modes of markets using fixed-effect panel data regression models. To this end, we extract data from a large Chinese crowdsourcing platform named zbj.com for the period of 2012–2014, which was a key stage for the establishment of market diversification. Based on different transaction modes, the study divides the markets on the crowdsourcing platform into task-based market (TBM) and employment market (EPM). By applying the multiple framework, the empirical results exhibit a negative and significant effect of vendors’ reputation on participation rate (PR) in TBM and EPM. At the same time, reputation also has a consistent effect on vendors’ revenue share (RS) of each market. Moreover, this study shows that the significant reputation impact on PR and RS of EPM will be, respectively, weakened and strengthened in fixed-price mode and customized mode when vendors participate more in large-scale projects. The findings suggest that the growth of reputation will promote market transfer of vendors, that is, showing different sustainability in different markets, which will lead to uneven development of the crowdsourcing markets. By adopting the perspective of transaction cost theory (TCT), this study elaborates and analyses these phenomena and derives corresponding policy implications.

Internal Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainability

The recent attention paid to internal corporate social responsibility (ICSR) observed in the academic literature has been paralleled by an increased focus thereof in management, to achieve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A bibliometric examination of the literature on ICSR and a complementary content analysis with ATLAS.ti revealed that the topic was largely neglected until 2014 but has now reached a consolidation stage. The main contribution of this paper was to conceptualize ICSR within the current theoretical paradigm of sustainability. The obtained results demonstrate that sustainable management requires attention to internal practices such as employee well-being and engagement. We anticipate that very soon, organizations will be directly involved in the SDG agenda through ICSR.

Overwhelmed by Technostress? Sensitive Archetypes and Effects in Times of Forced Digitalization

This paper explores technostress and its dimensions, assessing the relationship with possible negative effects in the individual, social and professional sphere. The study uses a self-reported approach of undergraduate students in Spain (n = 337), forced to follow their academic life by using technology comprehensively because of social distancing, as a public health action necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The analysis, based on the exploration of a system of archetypes of the use of social networks, presents insights into contemporary technostress management as a new approach that can suppose opportunities for the optimization of prevention plans. Pearson's correlation coefficients and structural equation modeling based on partial least squares (SEM-PLS) were the methods used for achieving the goals. The results reveal valid and reliable measures where technostress has a high impact on the individual sphere of students and there is a significant relationship between the type of user and techno-anxiety. The conclusions point to the imperative for developing a deeper understanding of technostress by archetypes, in both a higher education context (as antecedent) and the world of work, in an irreversible move towards a digital economy.
