Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous studies evaluating interdisciplinary multimodal interventions for chronic spinal pain often excluded patients with comorbid mental disorders. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of an outpatient secondary care interdisciplinary multimodal integrative healthcare program for individuals experiencing co-occurring chronic spinal pain and mental disorders. METHODS Participants were 944 patients with chronic spinal pain and comorbid mental disorders. Primary outcomes were health-related quality of life, assessed using the Research and Development-36 (RAND-36), and pain-related disability, assessed using the Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (QBPDS). Secondary outcomes included pain intensity, pain catastrophizing, kinesiophobia, fatigue, lumbar mobility, and isometric strength. Data were collected during the healthcare program at four time points: pretreatment (T0), midway through 20-week treatment (T1), end of 20-week treatment (T2), and at completion of 12-month relapse prevention program (T3). Multilevel regression analyses were conducted to examine the effects of the healthcare program on primary outcomes over time. RESULTS The 20-week treatment period yielded significant improvements in both mental ( B = 0.44, t (943) = 19.42, p < .001) and physical component summary scores ( B = 0.45, t (943) = 18.24, p < .001) of the RAND-36, as well as in QBPDS total score ( B = -0.77, t (943) = -26.16 p < .001). Pretreatment scores indicated the presence of problematic fatigue, kinesiophobia, and clinical levels of pain catastrophizing, all of which resolved by the end of the 12-month relapse prevention program. CONCLUSIONS An interdisciplinary multimodal integrative healthcare program seems effective for patients with chronic spinal pain and comorbid mental disorders.

Abstract
Background Online psychological interventions have emerged as a treatment alternative because they are accessible, flexible, personalized, and available to large populations. The number of Internet interventions in Latin America is limited, as are Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) of their effectiveness and a few studies comparing their effectiveness in multiple countries at the same time. We have developed an online intervention, Well-being Online, which will be available to the public free of charge in 7 countries: Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Spain, and the Netherlands. We expect a reduction in depression and anxiety symptoms and an increase in well-being of the participants. Methods A multi-country, randomized controlled trial will be conducted. The intervention is multicomponent (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Activation Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Positive Psychology), with 10 sessions. In each country, eligible participants will be randomized to one of three groups: Enriched Intervention (interactive web design with videos, infographics, text, audio, and forum), Text Intervention (text on the website), and Wait List (control group). Repeated measures will be obtained at 5-time points. Our primary outcomes will be anxiety symptomatology, depressive symptomatology, and mental well-being. MANOVA analysis will be used for our main analysis. Discussion This protocol describes the design of a randomized trial to evaluate the efficacy of a web-based intervention to reduce anxiety and depression symptomatology and increase subjective well-being. The intervention will be made available in four languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and English). Its results will contribute to the evidence of effectiveness in terms of randomized trials and Internet interventions, mainly in Latin America and Europe.

Abstract
Patients with chronic peripheral neuropathy suffer greatly and their quality of life is often restricted. Drug therapy can be accompanied by undesirable side effects and intolerances, or the hoped-for effect does not materialize. Therefore, in addition to drug therapy, attempts are also made to treat the physical symptoms with complementary procedures. In the case of severe forms, the search for a suitable form of therapy is difficult. Complex treatments can be an innovative way to treat peripheral neuropathy. At the same time, several different therapy methods are carried out at high frequency by a specialized treatment team. This study aimed to provide an overview of possible complementary forms of therapy. The focus was on a comparison of two interdisciplinary complex therapies that are used in severe cases in an acute inpatient care setting in Germany. The six dimensions (energy, sleep, pain, physicality, emotional response and social isolation) of the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) were used to assess quality of life. Both complex treatments (naturopathic complex therapy/multimodal pain therapy) showed a significant reduction in impairment in all dimensions of the NHP. In addition, a multivariate analysis was carried out to take into account several influencing variables at the same time. At the time of admission to the hospital, the degree of chronicity was recorded for each patient. This allowed statements to be made about the effect of the respective therapy depending on the chronification stage of the patient. It has been shown that patients with acutely exacerbated pain with the highest degree of chronicity also benefit from both complex treatments. The naturopathic complex treatment gives the treatment team more options. Aspects such as nutrition, methods from phytotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine can be integrated into inpatient care. Thus, a patient-centered, holistic therapy can take place. However, an interdisciplinary holistic therapy requires more time for both the practitioner and the patient. This should be taken into account in the health systems in the context of the diagnosis related groups.
