Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study analyzes symptoms in lung cancer patients undergoing immunotherapy to identify core symptom clusters through network analysis and lay a foundation for effective symptom management programs. METHODS The sample comprised 240 lung cancer patients receiving immunotherapy. Participants were assessed using the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale. Exploratory factor analysis was used to extract symptom clusters, and network analysis using JASP 0.17.3 was performed to explore the centrality indices and density of the symptom network. RESULTS Five symptom clusters were identified, i.e., emotion-related, lung cancer-related, physical, skin, and neural symptom clusters, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 55.819%. Network analysis revealed that sadness was the most intense symptom (rs = 2.189), dizziness was the most central symptom (rc = 1.388), and fatigue was the most significant bridging symptom (rb = 2.575). CONCLUSION This study identified five symptom clusters and a symptom network among lung cancer patients during immunotherapy. The network analysis's centrality indices and network density results can assist healthcare professionals in devising more precise symptom management strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Advanced cancer patients commonly suffer from a fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster. Baduanjin is considered a promising mind-body exercise for relieving the fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster. However, few studies have investigated a tailored Baduanjin for advanced cancer patients. The proposed study will create an optimized Baduanjin exercise program to adapt to advanced cancer patients and evaluate the effect of a Simple Sitting Baduanjin (SSBDJ) mind-body exercise on the fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster among advanced cancer patients. METHODS The study will be a prospective, assessor-blinded, two-arm, randomized controlled trial, involving a 12-week intervention and 4-week follow-up. A total of 108 advanced cancer patients experiencing the fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster will be recruited from two tertiary general hospitals in China. Participants will be randomized to an experimental group (n = 54) or a control group (n = 54). The experimental group will receive a 12-week SSBDJ intervention plus the usual care, and the control group will receive only the usual care. Outcomes including fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster, fatigue, sleep disturbance, and quality of life will be measured before the intervention, at the 4th, 8th, and 12th weeks of the intervention, and 4 weeks after the intervention. The intention-to-treat principle and a generalized estimating equation will be used to analyze data. DISCUSSION This study may produce a new Baduanjin exercise prescription that is user-friendly, simple to execute, more targeted, and adaptable. If proven effective, this approach may be integrated into routine cancer care to manage the fatigue-sleep disturbance symptom cluster and improve QOL in advanced cancer patients. Abstract
Cancer and depression are closely interrelated, particularly in patients with advanced cancer, who often present with comorbid anxiety and depression for various reasons. Recently, there has been a growing interest in the study of depression in cancer patients, with the aim of assessing the possible triggers, predictors, adverse events, and possible treatment options for depression in several common cancers. The objective of this narrative review is to synthesize the extant literature on the relationship between the occurrence and progression of depression in several common patient categories. The authors conducted a comprehensive review of 75 articles published in PubMed over the past five years. This review was further evaluated in the present paper. Ultimately, it was determined that depression is a prevalent and detrimental phenomenon among cancer patients, particularly those with advanced disease. Consequently, there is a pressing need to prioritize research and interventions aimed at improving the quality of life and psychosocial well-being of cancer patients, including those with advanced disease. The relationship between cancer and depression has been evolving dynamically in recent times. The current research findings indicate a strong association between cancer and depression. However, the direction of causality remains unclear. Focusing on depression in cancer patients may, therefore, be beneficial for these patients.

Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study is to conduct a systematic review to assess the effects of different forms of resistance exercises (resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises) on physical fitness, quality of life (QOL), and fatigue of patients with cancer. Methods We conducted a systematic review using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions guidelines. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases for the studies from the establishment of the database to September 2023, including randomized controlled trials and clinical trials that evaluated the effects of different resistance exercise on physical fitness, QOL, and fatigue in all patients with cancer. Two reviewers independently assessed the quality of all the included studies using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and MINORS scale. We divided the intervention into three types: resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises. Results In total, 48 studies (3,843 participants) met the inclusion criteria. The three exercise intervention forms have significant effects on physical fitness and QOL, but the improvement effect on fatigue is not clear. A total of 34 studies reported significant and beneficial effects of resistance exercise on physical fitness across all types of cancer. There were 28 studies that reported significant or borderline improvement effects of resistance on QOL, and only 10 studies reported significant effects of resistance exercise interventions on fatigue improvement in patients with cancer. Conclusions Resistance exercise, resistance exercise combined with aerobic exercise, and resistance exercise combined with other exercises all have a positive effect on improving fitness and QOL in patients with cancer. Resistance exercise has an advantage in improving muscle strength, while combined resistance exercise has an advantage in improving QOL; however, there are no consistent findings in improving fatigue, although low-intensity resistance exercise is effective. Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effects of Omaha System framework interventions on quality of life, emotional well-being, and sleep quality in 507 mid to late-stage lung cancer patients. Retrospectively, we compared data of 294 patients receiving conventional care (conventional group) with 213 patients undergoing Omaha System interventions (intervention group) from January 2019 to January 2023. Key indicators included quality of life (FACT-L), anxiety (SAS), depression (SDS), sleep quality (PSQI), hope (HHS), and dignity (PDI). Post-intervention, the intervention group showed a significant increase in FACT-L scores (P<0.001), indicating enhanced quality of life. There was a notable reduction in PSQI scores (P<0.001), suggesting improved sleep quality. Additionally, their anxiety and depression levels significantly decreased, as evidenced by lower SAS (P<0.001) and SDS scores (P<0.001). Logistic regression revealed that care nursing intervention scheme (P=0.007), age (P=0.008), marital status (P=0.002), per capita monthly household income (P=0.004), SAS after intervention (P=0.002), and PSQI after intervention (P=0.002) had a positive influence on quality of life. In conclusion, the Omaha System interventions markedly improved the quality of life, emotional state, and sleep in lung cancer patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Both pulmonary rehabilitation training and psychological care have been shown to have a positive effect on the postoperative recovery of patients with lung cancer. However, few studies have combined the two to explore their combined effect. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of pulmonary rehabilitation training combined with psychological care on postoperative respiratory function and mental health in lung cancer patients. AIM To investigate effect of nursing on postoperative respiratory function and mental health of lung cancer patients. METHODS 122 cases of lung cancer patients who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital and were treated in our department from January 2022 to April 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and observation group. The control group performed the routine care intervention. The observation group was given pulmonary rehabilitation training and psychological care based on conventional nursing interventions. Forced expiratory volume, forced vital capacity. Maximum ventilatory volume (MVV) in one second was measured, and the patient's 6-min walking distance and dyspnoea index scale were used to assess the patient's respiratory condition. The Connor-Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to evaluate the mental health of the patients. RESULTS There was no difference between the two groups regarding age, gender, education level, surgical procedure, type of pathology, and treatment (P > 0.05). After treatment, MVV, 6-min walking distance, toughness, strength, optimism, and total CD-RISC scores were significantly higher in the observation group (P < 0.05), dyspnoea scores, SAS, and SDS scores were substantially lower in the control group compared to the observation group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Pulmonary rehabilitation training combined with psychological care for patients after lung cancer resection could improve lung function, enhance daily activities, effectively relieve negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, and reduce complications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People living with a cancer diagnosis often experience cancer-related fatigue (CRF). Between 9% and 45% of people report CRF as moderate to severe, negatively impacting their quality-of-life (QOL). The evidence-base for managing CRF recommends exercise-related therapies over pharmaceutical interventions. One such exercise-like therapy is Baduanjin mind-body exercise (MBE), which has additional benefits. A remotely delivered program may further benefit people with CRF. The primary objective of this pilot will test study feasibility of a remotely delivered Baduanjin MBE exercise program for people living with CRF. METHODS This is a randomized wait-list controlled pilot study and will take place in Sydney, Australia. Subject to informed consent, 40 adults with moderate CRF levels and receiving or previously received adjuvant chemotherapy, will undertake a home-based 8-week Baduanjin MBE program supported by online resources and instructors. The primary feasibility outcomes are recruitment, enrollment, retention, and adherence rates; and safety as measured by tolerance and adverse-event frequency. Clinical outcomes (eg, changes in CRF, QOL, and participant perceptions) are assessed at pre-intervention, week 1, week 4, week 8, and post-intervention. Analyses follows the Intent-to-Treat (all participants as per randomization) and per-protocol (participants adhering to the protocol). Missing data will be imputed from previous data entries and regression models may be tested to predict missing outcomes. DISCUSSION To our knowledge, this is the first study evaluating the feasibility and effects of Baduanjin MBE on CRF using a remote delivery method. Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the impact of mind-body exercise (yoga, tai chi, qigong, etc.) on lung cancer. METHODS We performed a literature search of the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, CNKI, CBM, WanFang Data, and VIP from their inception to 16 May 2023. The primary outcome was the 6-min walk test (6MWT), while the secondary outcomes were anxiety levels and quality of life (QoL). Two independent reviewers performed the data extraction using a predefined protocol and assessed the risk of bias using the Cochrane risk of bias (ROB) tool for randomized controlled trials, with differences agreed by consensus. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 and Stata 15 software to analyze the extracted data. RESULTS This meta-analysis included a total of 11 studies involving 897 patients. The results indicated that compared to the usual care group, lung cancer patients in the mind-body exercise group could increase the 6-min walk distance (5 studies, 346 participants, WMD: 18.83, 95% CI (7.55, 30.10) P = 0.001), reduce anxiety levels (4 studies, 362 participants, SMD: - 1.51, 95% CI (- 1.74, - 1.27), P < 0.05), and enhance the overall quality of life (6 studies, 594 participants, SMD: 0.71, 95% CI (0.10, 1.31), P = 0.02). The overall certainty of the evidence for all outcomes was low; seven studies were judged to be at low risk of bias, and four studies were judged to be at moderate risk of bias. CONCLUSION Mind-body exercise could improve exercise capacity in lung cancer survivors, reduce anxiety, and positively affect overall quality of life. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER CRD42023426800.

Abstract
H2H is a patient and family-centered approach that integrates hospital and home care, emphasizing continuity, individualized rehabilitation training, and the active participation of patients and their families. However, it is still unclear whether H2H improves the efficacy for patients with COPD and lung cancer. This study investigated the efficacy of Hospital-to-Home (H2H) rehabilitation nursing for lung cancer patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). We conducted a retrospective analysis to the clinical data of 95 patients treated in the Pingdingshan University Medical College from January 2018 to January 2020. We compared the effects of conventional nursing (control group, n=45) and H2H nursing (observation group, n=50) on the clinical efficacy for the patients. In this study, after nursing intervention, the quality of life and adverse emotions in the observation group were significantly improved compared to the control group (P<0.0001). Moreover, the lung function and blood oxygen saturation of patients in the H2H nursing model improved after the intervention (P<0.0001). In addition, there was no difference in the 3-year survival rate between the control group and the observation group (P=0.260). Multivariate COX regression analysis showed that the nursing scheme had no effect on the patients' 3-year survival, but the SAS score, SDS score, and CEA were independent prognostic factors affecting the 3-year survival rate (P<0.05). These results demonstrate that H2H rehabilitation care significantly improves the quality of life, emotional health, and lung function of patients with COPD and lung cancer, but does not affect the patients' 3-year survival rate.

Abstract
Chronic respiratory diseases (CRD), is a group of disorders, primarily chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, which are characterized by high prevalence and disability, recurrent acute exacerbations, and multiple comorbidities, resulting in exercise limitations and reduced health-related quality of life. Exercise training, an important tool in pulmonary rehabilitation, reduces adverse symptoms in patients by relieving respiratory limitations, increasing gas exchange, increasing central and peripheral hemodynamic forces, and enhancing skeletal muscle function. Aerobic, resistance, and high-intensity intermittent exercises, and other emerging forms such as aquatic exercise and Tai Chi effectively improve exercise capacity, physical fitness, and pulmonary function in patients with CRD. The underlying mechanisms include enhancement of the body's immune response, better control of the inflammatory response, and acceleration of the interaction between the vagus and sympathetic nerves to improve gas exchange. Here, we reviewed the new evidence of benefits and mechanisms of exercise intervention in the pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer.

Abstract
Lifestyle factors, including smoking habit, diet, and physical activity, affect the prognosis of various diseases. We elucidated the effect of lifestyle factors and health status on deaths from respiratory diseases in the general Japanese population using data from a community health examination database. Data of the nationwide screening program of the Specific Health Check-up and Guidance System (Tokutei-Kenshin), targeting the general population in Japan, from 2008 to 2010 were analyzed. The underlying causes of death were coded according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10. The hazard ratios of the incidence of mortality associated with respiratory disease were estimated using the Cox regression model. This study included 664,926 participants aged 40-74 years, who were followed up for 7 years. There were 8051 deaths, including 1263 (15.69%) deaths from respiratory diseases. The independent risk factors of mortality associated with respiratory diseases were male sex, older age, low body mass index, no exercise habit, slow walking speed, no drinking habit, smoking history, history of cerebrovascular diseases, high hemoglobin A1c and uric acid levels, low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level, and proteinuria. Aging and decline of physical activity are significant risk factors for mortality associated with respiratory diseases, regardless of the smoking status.
