Abstract
Mirror therapy is a standard technique of rehabilitation for recovering motor and vision abilities of stroke patients, especially in the case of asymmetric limb function. To enhance traditional mirror therapy, robotic mirror therapy (RMT) has been proposed over the past decade, allowing for assisted bimanual coordination of paretic (affected) and contralateral (healthy) limbs. However, state-of-the-art RMT platforms predominantly target mirrored motions of trajectories, largely limited to 2-D motions. In this paper, an RMT platform is proposed, which can facilitate the patient to practice virtual activities of daily living (ADL) and thus enhance their independence. Two similar (but mirrored) 3D virtual environments are created in which the patients operate robots with both their limbs to complete ADL (such as writing and eating) with the assistance of the therapist. The recovery level of the patient is continuously assessed by monitoring their ability to track assigned trajectories. The patient's robots are programmed to assist the patient in following these trajectories based on this recovery level. In this paper, the framework to dynamically monitor recovery level and accordingly provide assistance is developed along with the nonlinear controller design to ensure position tracking, force control, and stability. Proof-of-concept studies are conducted with both 3D trajectory tracking and ADL. The results demonstrate the potential use of the proposed system to enhance the recovery of the patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Dose (number of repetitions) has been suggested as a key element in the effectiveness of rehabilitation exercises to promote motor recovery of the hemiparetic upper limb. However, rehabilitation exercises tend to be monotonous and require significant motivation to continue, making it difficult to increase the exercise dose. To address this issue, gamification technology has been implemented in exercises to promote self-engagement for people with hemiparesis in continuing monotonous repetitive movements. This study aimed to investigate how subjective perspectives, specifically enjoyability, motivation to continue, and expectancy of effectiveness, change through continuous daily exercise using a developed gamified exercise system. MATERIALS AND METHOD Ten people with stroke suffering upper limb dysfunction underwent daily gamified exercise for seven days. The gamified exercise consisted of an electromyography (EMG)-controlled operating system that enabled users to play virtual games using repetitive finger movements. The participants performed conventional self-exercise on the same day as the control exercise, and rated their subjective perspectives on both exercises on a numerical rating scale on each exercise day. RESULTS Ratings for enjoyability and motivation to continue consistently showed significantly higher scores for the gamified exercise than for conventional self-exercise on all exercise days. A similar trend was observed in the ratings for the expectancy of effectiveness. No changes over time were found in any of the ratings throughout the exercise period. CONCLUSIONS Exercise using the developed EMG-controlled gamified system may have the potential to maintain motivation and enjoyment in people with stroke to continue monotonous repetitive finger movements.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study synthesizes participant and outcome data from peer-reviewed Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Programme (ICAP) studies. METHODS A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Study eligibility criteria were specified in relation to population, intervention, comparison, outcome, and design considerations. Data were extracted according to six research questions. Narrative synthesis was used. RESULTS Twenty-one studies were included covering 13 ICAPs (N = 485, aged 18-86 years, between 11 and 335 months post-stroke). Twenty-seven participant selection criteria were identified. Fifty-six outcome measures spanning the WHO-ICF were used, with the majority assessing the body function domain. Only eight studies employed an experimental design with data appropriate for analysis and synthesis. Risk of bias was noted across this sub-group. Participants improved in word-finding, communication, activity/participation, and communication-related quality of life, and maintained their gains; however, except for word finding, evidence of effect came from isolated studies. Factors influencing outcomes were rarely considered. Some drop-outs, missed sessions, and fatigue were noted. Some studies reported IPD alongside group analyses. CONCLUSIONS ICAP selection criteria need justification and should contribute to the understanding of candidacy for this treatment model. Rationalisation of ICAP treatment content and outcome measurement is required, spanning all WHO-ICF domains. Employment of the core outcome set for aphasia would enable data synthesis and facilitate comparisons between the ICAP and other therapy models.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Walking impairment represents a relevant symptom in patients with neurological diseases often compromising social participation. Currently, mixed methods studies on robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) in patients with rare neurological diseases are lacking. This study aimed to explore the feasibility, acceptability, goal attainment and preliminary effects of RAGT in patients with common and rare neurological diseases and understand the intervention context and process. METHODS A mixed-methods feasibility study was conducted at an Austrian rehabilitation centre. Twenty-eight inpatients after stroke in the subacute and chronic phases, with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, spinocerebellar ataxia, acute/chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and motor neuron disease were included. Patients received RAGT for 45 minutes, 4x/week, for 4 weeks. Baseline and post-intervention assessments included gait parameters, walking and balance, and questionnaires. Semi-structured observations were conducted twice during the intervention period and analysed using thematic analysis. Descriptive statistics within the respective disease groups and calculation of effect sizes for the total sample were performed. Triangulation was employed to develop a deeper understanding of the research topic. RESULTS Data from 26 patients (mean age 61.6 years [standard deviation 13.2]) were analysed. RAGT was highly accepted by patients and feasible, indicated by recruitment, retention, and adherence rates of 84.8% (95% confidence interval, CI 0.7-0.9), 92.2% (95% CI 0.7-1.0) and 94.0% (95% CI 91.4-96.2), respectively. Goal attainment was high, and only mild adverse events occurred. Improvements in walking speed (10-Metre Walk Test, effect size r = 0.876), walking distance (6-Minute Walk Test, r = 0.877), functional mobility (Timed Up and Go, r = 0.875), gait distance (r = 0.829) and number of steps (r = 0.834) were observed. Four themes were identified: familiarising with RAGT; enjoyment and acceptance through a trusting therapeutic relationship; actively interacting; and minimising dissatisfaction. DISCUSSION Sufficiently powered randomised controlled trials are needed to validate our results. TRIAL REGISTRATION German Clinical Trials Register, DRKS00027887.

Abstract
ABSTRACTMusic is increasingly used in a wide array of settings, from clinical recovery to sports or well-being interventions. Motivation related to music is often considered as a possible working mechanism for music to facilitate these processes, however this has not previously been systematically evaluated. The current systematic review considered studies that involved music (therapy) interventions, together with motivation-related measures such as wanting to practise, liking the musical activities, or patient adherence to an intervention. Our objective was to examine whether music is related to increased motivation in task performance and/or rehabilitation settings, and whether this is in turn related to better clinical or training outcomes. Seventy-nine studies met the inclusion criteria, the majority of which (85%) indicated an increased level of motivation with music as compared to without. Moreover, in those studies where motivation was increased, clinical or other outcomes were improved in most cases (90%). These results support the notion of motivation as an underlying mechanism of music-based interventions, but more robust evidence is needed to ascertain which mechanisms are crucial in increasing motivation from a behavioural, cognitive, and neurobiological point of view, as well as how motivational mechanisms relate to other factors of effectiveness in music-based paradigms.

Abstract
Introduction Cognitive and motor impairments are common among stroke survivors. Physical therapy is often used to improve the functional capacity of stroke survivors. However, limited adherence to rehabilitation programs is a challenge. Motivation plays a crucial role in the success of rehabilitation programs as it influences individual adherence to treatment and overall health outcomes. This review aims to identify current trends in motivational strategies used by healthcare professionals for stroke survivor rehabilitation. Methods Following the framework developed by Arksey and O'Malley, a scoping review was conducted. We performed a literature search using MEDLINE, CINAHL, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Nursing & Allied Health, and MedicLatina databases. Results A total of 906 papers were identified. After selecting and analyzing the articles, 17 papers were included in this review. Health professionals use various strategies to motivate stroke survivors. These approaches include establishing a therapeutic alliance, improving patients' health literacy, defining realistic goals, fostering problem-solving skills, personalizing the rehabilitation program, showcasing success stories, utilizing persuasive techniques, offering encouragement and compliments, providing emotional support, and effectively managing symptoms. Conclusion The knowledge gathered in this review can guide healthcare professionals in helping patients overcome barriers to rehabilitation, improve their motivation, and ultimately enhance their recovery outcomes.

Abstract
Robotic technology and virtual reality (VR) have been widely studied technologies in stroke rehabilitation over the last few decades. Both technologies have typically been considered as ways to enhance recovery through promoting intensive, repetitive, and engaging therapies. In this review, we present the current evidence from interventional clinical trials that employ either robotics, VR, or a combination of both modalities to facilitate post-stroke recovery. Broadly speaking, both technologies have demonstrated some success in improving post-stroke outcomes and complementing conventional therapy. However, more high-quality, randomized, multicenter trials are required to confirm our current understanding of their role in precision stroke recovery.

Abstract
PURPOSE Telerehabilitation systems have the potential to enable therapists to monitor and assist stroke patients in achieving high-intensity upper extremity exercise in the home environment. We adopted an iterative user-centred approach, including multiple data sources and meetings with end-users and stakeholders to define the user requirements for home-based upper extremity rehabilitation using wearable motion sensors for subacute stroke patients. METHODS We performed a requirement analysis consisting of the following steps: 1) context & groundwork; 2) eliciting requirements; 3) modelling & analysis; 4) agreeing requirements. During these steps, a pragmatic literature search, interviews and focus groups with stroke patients, physiotherapists and occupational therapists were performed. The results were systematically analysed and prioritised into "must-haves", "should-haves", and "could-haves". RESULTS We formulated 33 functional requirements: eighteen must-have requirements related to blended care (2), exercise principles (7), exercise delivery (3), exercise evaluation (4), and usability (2); ten should-haves; and five could-haves. Six movement components, including twelve exercises and five combination exercises, are required. For each exercise, appropriate exercise measures were defined. CONCLUSION This study provides an overview of functional requirements, required exercises, and required exercise measures for home-based upper extremity rehabilitation using wearable motion sensors for stroke patients, which can be used to develop home-based upper extremity rehabilitation interventions. Moreover, the comprehensive and systematic requirement analysis used in this study can be applied by other researchers and developers when extracting requirements for designing a system or intervention in a medical context.

Abstract
Motivational deficits in patients recovering from stroke are common and can reduce active participation in rehabilitation and thereby impede functional recovery. We investigated whether stroke patients with clinically reduced drive, initiation, and endurance during functional rehabilitative training (n = 30) display systematic alterations in effort-based decision making compared to age, sex, and severity-matched stroke patients (n = 30) whose drive appeared unaffected. Notably, the two groups did not differ in self-reported ratings of apathy and depression. However, on an effort-based decision-making task, stroke patients with clinically apparent drive impairment showed intact willingness to accept effort for reward, but were more likely to fail to execute the required effort compared to patients without apparent drive impairments. In other words, the decision behavioural assessment revealed that stroke patients that displayed reduced drive, initiation, and endurance during inpatient neurorehabilitation failed to persist in goal-directed effort production, even over very short periods. These findings indicate that reduced drive during rehabilitative therapy in post-stroke patients is not due to a diminished motivation to invest physical effort, but instead is related to a reduced persistence with effortful behaviour.

Abstract
The relevance of the presented article is due to the lack of information on the impact of social work in the development of rehabilitation motivation in children with disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This research aimed to evaluate the role of social work in shaping rehabilitation motivation in children with musculoskeletal disorders. Using a questionnaire, the study involved 43 children and their carers who received social support and 20 who did not. Analysis revealed a significant correlation between the absence of social support and rehabilitation outcomes. The results underlined the value of rehabilitation, with a predominantly positive response to its methods and outcomes. The data also suggested that the absence of social work could increase the likelihood of unfavorable outcomes. By highlighting the need for comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation strategies, this research provides a basis for improving rehabilitation approaches. Addressing the challenges highlighted could pave the way for optimized public health strategies.

Abstract
PURPOSE eHealth-based exercise therapies were developed to increase stroke patients' adherence to home-based motor rehabilitation. However, these eHealth tools face a rapid decrease in use after a couple of weeks. This study investigates stroke patients' motivation for home-based upper extremity rehabilitation with eHealth tools and their relation with Basic Psychological Needs. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a qualitative study using thematic analysis. We conducted semi-structured interviews with stroke patients with upper extremity motor impairments, who were discharged home from a rehabilitation centre, after they interacted with a novel eHealth coach demonstrator in their homes for five consecutive days. RESULTS We included ten stroke patients. Thematic analysis resulted in eight themes for home-based rehabilitation motivation: Curiosity, Rationale, Choice, Optimal challenge, Reference, Encouragement, Social Support and Trustworthiness. Those themes are embedded into three Basic Psychological Needs: "Autonomy", "Competence", and "Relatedness". CONCLUSION Eight motivational themes related to the three Basic Psychological Needs describe stroke patients' motivation for home-based upper extremity rehabilitation. We recommend considering those themes when developing a home-based eHealth intervention for stroke patients to increase the alignment of eHealth tools to the patient's needs and reduce motivational decreases in home-based rehabilitation.

Abstract
Motivation is crucial in stroke rehabilitation, as it enhances patient engagement, adherence, and recovery. Robots can be employed to improve motivation through multiplayer rehabilitation games, which allow patients to collaborate and interact in a virtual environment through multimodal sensory cues. This social interaction can provide social support and increase motivation, resulting in better therapy engagement. A hand rehabilitation robot (PLUTO) was used to investigate the potential of social interaction to implement haptic multiplayer games. Twelve unimpaired participants (6 dyads) played in solo, collaborative, and competitive game modes. Surprisingly, no difference was found in self-reported engagement, tension, or competence between solo and multiplayer games. However, the IMI scale indicated that engagement for multiplayer games was rated higher than for solo games. The collaborative game was preferred by 10 out of 12 participants, highlighting its potential for promoting behavioural involvement and engagement. This study indicates that using PLUTO with multiplayer game modes can enhance therapy engagement. This can potentially improve rehabilitation outcomes if translated to the patient population.

Abstract
Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability, such as loss of upper limb function. Active arm movement and frequent practice are essential to regain such function. Wearable sensors that trigger individualized movement reminders can promote awareness of the affected limb during periods of inactivity. This study investigated the immediate effect of vibrotactile reminders based on activity counts on affected arm use, the evolution of the effect throughout a 6-week intervention at home, and whether the time of the day influences the response to the reminder. Thirteen participants who experienced a unilateral ischemic stroke were included in the analysis. Activity counts were found to increase significantly after receiving a reminder. The immediate effect of receiving a reminder was maintained throughout the day as well as during the study duration of 6 weeks. In conclusion, wearable activity trackers with a feature to trigger individualized vibrotactile reminders could be a promising rehabilitation tool to increase arm activity of the affected side in stroke patients in their home environment.

Abstract
Despite the substantial progress in motor rehabilitation, patient involvement and motivation remain major challenges. They are typically addressed with communicational and environmental strategies, as well as with improved goal-setting procedures. Here we suggest a new research direction and framework involving Neuroeconomics principles to investigate the role of Motor Decision-Making (MDM) parameters in motivational component and motor performance in rehabilitation. We argue that investigating NE principles could bring new approaches aimed at increasing active patient engagement in the rehabilitation process by introducing more movement choice, and adapting existing goal-setting procedures. We discuss possible MDM implementation strategies and illustrate possible research directions using examples of stroke and psychiatric disorders.

Abstract
Background The motivation for rehabilitation is important in encouraging stroke patients to participate in rehabilitation; however, its relationship with outcomes is not well known. In addition, changes in patient motivation during hospitalization have not been examined. Aim To examine the relationship between motivation and rehabilitation outcomes for subacute stroke patients and to investigate the changes in motivation. Design Prospective cohort study. Setting Subacute rehabilitation hospital. Population The study enrolled a consecutive sample of patients (n = 201) with stroke admitted to a subacute rehabilitation ward from October 2017 to March 2019. Methods The functional independence measure and motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale was evaluated at admission; at one, two, and three months after admission; and at discharge. The effectiveness and efficiency of the functional independence measure were calculated as rehabilitation outcomes. The effect of motivation on outcomes and the change in motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale scores over time were analyzed using a linear mixed model. Results The median (interquartile range) converted motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale scores (converted to a range of 0-100) at admission; one, two, and three months after admission; and discharge was 86 (76-95), 83 (77-94), 81 (74-95), 81 (71-93), and 84 (75-95), respectively. The median (interquartile range) of effectiveness and efficiency of the functional independence measure from admission to discharge was 0.82 (0.68-0.91) and 0.41 (0.30-0.59), respectively. Motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale scores were not significantly associated with the effectiveness and efficiency of the functional independence measure (p > 0.05). Motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale scores were significantly lower at two (β = -3.1, 95% confidence interval [-5.3, -0.9], p = 0.005) and three (β = -4.4, 95% confidence interval [-7.3, -1.6], p = 0.002) months after admission than at admission. Conclusion Motivation might not directly affect rehabilitation outcomes assessed by the functional independence measure. Furthermore, many participants remained highly motivated, although their motivation decreased at one or three months after admission. Clinical rehabilitation impact Assumptions that rehabilitation is ineffective because of low motivation may not be correct. To examine the influence on outcomes, both motivation and daily activities should be considered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient motivation is an important determinant of rehabilitation outcomes. Differences in patients' and clinicians' perceptions of motivational factors can potentially hinder patient-centered care. Therefore, we aimed to compare patients' and clinicians' perceptions of the most important factors in motivating patients for rehabilitation. METHODS This multicenter explanatory survey research was conducted from January to March 2022. In 13 hospitals with an intensive inpatient rehabilitation ward, 479 patients with neurological or orthopedic disorders undergoing inpatient rehabilitation and 401 clinicians, including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language-hearing therapists, were purposively selected using inclusion criteria. The participants were asked to choose the most important factor motivating patients for rehabilitation from a list of potential motivational factors. RESULTS Here we show that realization of recovery, goal setting, and practice related to the patient's experience and lifestyle are the three factors most frequently selected as most important by patients and clinicians. Only five factors are rated as most important by 5% of clinicians, whereas nine factors are selected by 5% of patients. Of these nine motivational factors, medical information (p < 0.001; phi = -0.14; 95% confidence interval = -0.20 to -0.07) and control of task difficulty (p = 0.011; phi = -0.09; 95% confidence interval = -0.16 to -0.02) are selected by a significantly higher proportion of patients than clinicians. CONCLUSIONS These results suggest that when determining motivational strategies, rehabilitation clinicians should consider individual patient preferences in addition to using the core motivational factors supported by both parties.

Abstract
Motivated behaviours are thought to lead to enhanced performances. In the neurorehabilitation field, motivation has been demonstrated to be a link between cognition and motor performance, therefore playing an important role upon rehabilitation outcome determining factors. While motivation-enhancing interventions have been frequently investigated, a common and reliable motivation assessment strategy has not been established yet. This review aims to systematically explore and provide a comparison among the existing motivation assessment tools concerning stroke rehabilitation. For this purpose, a literature search (PubMed and Google Scholar) was performed, using the following Medical Subject Headings terms: "assessment" OR "scale" AND "motivation" AND "stroke" AND "rehabilitation". In all, 31 randomized clinical trials and 15 clinical trials were examined. The existing assessment tools can be grouped into two categories: the first mirroring the trade-off between patients and rehabilitation, the latter reflecting the link between patients and interventions. Furthermore, we presented assessment tools which reflect participation level or apathy, as an indirect index of motivation. In conclusion, we are left to put forth a possible common motivation assessment strategy, which might provide valuable incentive to investigate in future research.

Abstract
Post-stroke health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is poor, which is related to low social support levels and lack of rehabilitation motivation. However, there are limited studies that have systematically analyzed the mechanisms underlying this relationship in stroke patients. This study aimed to identify the mediating effects of rehabilitation motivation on the relationship between social support and HRQoL among stroke patients. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 176 Koreans aged ≥19 years who were admitted for rehabilitation treatment after stroke at three general hospitals in Jeonbuk. Data collection was conducted from September to December 2020 through face-to-face interviews using structured questionnaires and review of medical records. The significance of the mediation model was tested using SPSS 25.0 and the PROCESS macro for SPSS v3.5. Significant associations were identified between social support and HRQoL. Our findings revealed an indirect effect, suggesting that the effects of social support on HRQoL are mediated by rehabilitation motivation (B = 0.004, 95% bias-corrected bootstrap confidence interval = 0.002, 0.006). Social support for stroke patients had a positive effect on HRQoL, and rehabilitation motivation was found to have a partial mediating effect on this relationship. This study suggests that social support from healthcare professionals and families for post-stroke can improve patients' HRQoL by inducing positive rehabilitation motivation. Therefore, developing intervention strategies to motivate rehabilitation could improve the HRQoL of patients with stroke.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) are emerging technologies in the field of stroke rehabilitation that have the potential to overcome the limitations of conventional treatment. Enhancing upper limb (UL) function is critical in stroke impairments because the upper limb is involved in the majority of activities of daily living (ADL). METHODS This study reviewed the use of virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VAMR) methods for improving UL recovery and ADL, and compared the effectiveness of VAMR treatment to conventional rehabilitation therapy. The databases ScienceDirect, PubMed, IEEE Xplore, and Web of Science were examined, and 50 randomized control trials comparing VAMR treatment to standard therapy were determined. The random effect model and fixed effect model are applied based on heterogeneity. RESULTS The most often used outcomes of UL recovery and ADL in stroke rehabilitation were the Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremities (FMA-UE), followed by the Box and Block Test (BBT), the Wolf Motor Function Test (WMFT), and the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). According to the meta-analysis, VR, AR, and MR all have a significant positive effect on improving FMA-UE for UL impairment (36 studies, MD = 3.91, 95 percent CI = 1.70-6.12, P = 0.0005) and FIM for ADL (10 studies, MD = 4.25, 95 percent CI = 1.47-7.03, P = 0.003), but not on BBT and WMFT for the UL function tests (16 studies, MD = 2.07, 95 percent CI = - 0.58-4.72, P = 0.13), CONCLUSIONS: VAMR therapy was superior to conventional treatment in UL impairment and daily function outcomes, but not UL function measures. Future studies might include further high-quality trials examining the effect of VR, AR, and MR on UL function measures, with an emphasis on subgroup meta-analysis by stroke type and recovery stage.

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of contralaterally controlled functional electrical stimulation (CCFES) on upper limb function in stroke patients. Methods CCFES and mirror therapy (MT) exercises were conducted for 13 stroke patients at least 4 weeks post-onset. A sufficient interval of at least 24 hours was left between the two types of rehabilitation exercises. Before treatment and immediately after each training session, grip strength, Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) score and FMA-UE subscores for the shoulder/elbow/forearm, wrist, hand, and coordination were evaluated. Results Grip strength, FMA-UE and FMA-UE shoulder/elbow/forearm, wrist, and coordination did not differ significantly after CCFES and MT compared to before therapy. FMA-UE hand did not change significantly after MT compared to before therapy, but it improved significantly after CCFES (p = 0.013). Conclusion CCFES for the upper extremities immediately improves hand function and may be effective in maintaining and improving patients' motivation for rehabilitation treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop the Motivation in stroke patients for rehabilitation scale (MORE scale), following the Consensus-based standards for the selection of health measurement instruments (COSMIN). METHOD Study participants included rehabilitation professionals working at the convalescent rehabilitation hospital and stroke patients admitted to the hospital. The original MORE scale was developed from an item pool, which was created through discussions of nine rehabilitation professionals. After the content validity of the scale was verified using the Delphi method with 61 rehabilitation professionals and 22 stroke patients, the scale's validity and reliability were examined for 201 stroke patients. The construct validity of the scale was investigated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and item response theory analysis. Cronbach's alpha confirmed its internal consistency. Regarding convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity, Spearman's rho was calculated between the MORE scale and the Apathy Scale (AS), Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), which rates the subjective feelings of motivation. RESULTS Using the Delphi method, 17 items were incorporated into the MORE scale. According to EFA and CFA, a one-factor model was suggested. All MORE scale items demonstrated satisfactory item response, with item slopes ranging from 0.811 to 2.142, and item difficulty parameters ranging from -3.203 to 0.522. Cronbach's alpha was 0.948. Regarding test-retest reliability, a moderate correlation was found between scores at the beginning and one month after hospitalization (rho = 0.612. p < 0.001). The MORE scale showed significant correlation with AS (rho = -0.536, p < 0.001), SDS (rho = -0.347, p < 0.001), and VAS (rho = 0.536, p < 0.001), confirming the convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The MORE scale was verified as a valid and reliable scale for evaluating stroke patients' motivation for rehabilitation.
